Recipe for A Standard (Good, Average or Subpar) KDrama Rom-Com

Ingredients:
Basics
1 Male Lead (Chaebols and CEOs are most common, but variety is the spice of life even if we do appreciate men in suits)
1 Female Lead (Candies are popular but don’t be afraid to be adventurous. No reallyโ€ฆ please be adventurous…)
1 Annoying Mother
1 Overprotective Father (or vice versa. A complete set of loving wholesome parents is also fine really, but apparently hard to find)
1 Meddling Grandparent
1 Matchmaking or Disapproving Sibling
1 MC Posse of Loose Lipped Friends and or Acquaintances
The BFF
1 or 2 Second Leada (optional. Only add if you think they can be more than a Plot Device. But they are popular among the shippers)
1 Meet Cute (or to spice it up a little, try the Meet Un Cute. New in stores now and gaining traction fast)
2-3 Confessions (depending on your SL)
A handful of In-laws and Family Drama
A Pinch of Childhood Happy Memories (is often substituted with the Phobia of Childhood instead)

Flavouring
1 Umbrella of Squee (preferable in a bright colour)
1 Potted Plant of Symbolism
1 Necklace of Symbolism
2 Travel Plans of Falsehood
1 Job or Living Situation of Deception
1 Haircut of Cue Next Story Arc
5 CGI Glow Cheeks of Arousal (or as desired)
1 Single Suitcase of Unreasonable Economic Travel
1 Love Interest’s Old Family Codger of Nose Butting and Money Manipulation
(Be careful when adding this, as it may result in Noble Idiocy which needs to be handled with extra care)

Trio of Conflict
1 Scooter of Inconvenience
1 Bicycle of The Ballroom Dip
1 Truck of Doom (use with caution. If not a professional, leave out of recipe. It will not affect overall drama consumerabilty if removed, and if added at the wrong time may result in Amnesia or Worse, and this is a Rom Com recipe not a Melo.)

Don’t Forget
15 Coats of Unaffordability
10-20 PPLs of Necessary Funding (to taste)
7 Shots of Soju for every time an MC gets drunk
and
1 โ€œAnd they were Roommates!โ€ โ€œMy Gosh they were Roommates!โ€

Method:

For average to good rom-coms, a solid script structure is necessary.

First attach the Hook beater to the mixer.
Then in a character development bowl, slowly add the ingredients one at a time.

About a third of the way through, stir gently with a Romantic Development Whisk. The Old Codger and the Trio of Conflict may provide some tougher mixing. If the mixture is not combining, try changing the mixer attachment to first the Paddle of Angst and then the Action and finally the Fluff Beater. When well combined, pour into a tin of Backstory, smoothing down with a blurred knife (wait wrong genre). Bake at 180ยฐ C (350ยฐ F) for 16 episodes. (20 episodes may work for some dramas, but be careful, as these can drag and you will need to mix these faster with the Action paddle).
This allows the drama to mellow, and for the characters to become well rounded and fleshed out. Check every 10 minutes to avoid weak character arcs forming within the mixture. You can also avoid this by placing a sheet of Stereotype Proof Paper on top beforehand.
This will slow down the cooking, but avoids Burning, allows for a soft and moist texture and ultimately a pleasant aftertaste, so that less people are likely to throw your drama in the bin at or before the 8th epsiode of cooking.

Serve piping hot with desired toppings and sides. Soju, Ramen, Melona, popcorn, or perhaps a friend or two.

โ€ฆ

For subpar to average rom-comsโ€ฆ
Slap it all together and hope for the best. Perhaps add some cocaine and a shittone of cute to the mixture just incase, to ensure people still watch it even if it tastes horrible.
