I was thinking the same thing. I think that fans of the other female leads just don't like the fact that LYH is getting more face time than the other actresses. So in order to attract attention from what a great job LYH has been doing, they had to attack her acting. If attacking someone makes you feel good than you that's on you and that says a lot a person.

I wouldn't say she's the best actress out there, but she's trying really hard to improve, and she did improve a little bit in the last few episodes... and this is a thing I admire her for doing, that she's actually trying and not relying on her new fame.

well..... i dont know much much about acting.... but i blamed it on the character itself as the reason why whenever she comes in, it annoyes me.......

i've seen her in rebirth and since i didnt like that drama, i dunno....... i think her inexperience compared to the rest of the cast might make her lack of acting skills pop out more..... who knows

hey javabeans, thanks for responding, i must say that i m one of your frequent visitors and yeah, always grateful with all the news you provide, so plz keep up the good work,
coming back to the point, dont take me wrong... i m not an acting cognoscenti and i consider myself a very easy going viewer, so i hardly complain about anyone's acting, however if someone doesnt like someone's acting, its their prerogative.
and i do concede some of the criticisms on LYH's acting in the earlier episodes were valid (although i was fine with LYH's acting, i guess some viewers have high standards and expectations or maybe i am just biased)
but after going through some criticisms that are outright biased and hateful makes me suspicious to accept any criticism on LYH's acting without considering the fact that the critic may be biased.
and particularly for the recent episodes of EOE where i felt that LYH gave some of her best performances - i find it hard to digest that some ppl are still complaining about her acting.
well, i just hope when ppl criticize anyone's acting, they do it without any prejudice, that s all, but unfortunately its not always true. however i will definitely keep in mind to take criticisms on LYH's acting by leaving my prejudice aside :)

People please stop this, I Saw he interview and she said, that she looks bigger not fat, and for those that are criticizing her, stop the true is because she is the one getting more attention in the drama than the other two actress, She is improving a lot, LDH is a good actress, but is not LYH fault that SSH is her partner in here, and is true the person that is doing this in this page doesn't like her and that's why she writes things like this, stop this interview is wrong I have the good one, I have access to a lot of pages about Korean artist and I don't says bad things about actors or actress just because is not my favorite, and I can prove you what I am saying,,,, LYH is improving a lot I can say this because I have the experience in this media, LYH is good sorry if you don't like people but, for me she is great, just because LDH and the other actress is not getting attention is not her fault. I think she's always been a little insecure about her face shape, actually. It's a little wider/rounder than the typical female lead. In interviews and such, you'll notice her hand reaching for her fringe a bit.

I think part of it is that a lot of people are waiting for the Dong Chul/Hye Rin storyline to start already. We all know that Dong Chul/Guk Ja was a stepping stone for the main couple, so it's kinda futile anyway to root for this coupling. It was never meant to last. I'm just glad she and Ji Hyun haven't been killed off for the sake of setting up the main triangle.

Overall, I really liked how Grace was written. Her father is the most dangerous character in the show, and the story implies that she's been used as a hostage before, she's seen a lot of men die for and betray her father, and that she is literally his most prized "possession." There's just been more background detail and texture given to the characterization of Grace than to Min Hye Rin.

LDC/YR's romance wasn't especially strong, but it helped to substantiate LDC's essentially loneliness in the story. Dong Chul's growing weariness over his job, his estrangement from family, that despite all his justified rage, he was still a rat merely gnawing on his vendetta, no closer to his father's aspirations. His mother was right, you know. His "Guk Ja" didn't provide a relief from it; if anything, it just magnified what was wrong with his life, and that any kind of supposed happiness with "Guk Ja" was at best a stolen season. He should have left a long time ago.

@La Plume, I do agree there is some sexism going on with her being singled out. She is not good even with improvements(and I'm with Belleza that I actually like how her character has a bit more oomph), but EoE has so much to rant about, it's a bit biased that she got the bulk of it. Yes, it's a lacking job (out of many lacking acting jobs there), but the drama itself is written to frustrate and drag us into extreme crankiness. So yes, she deserves some criticisms, but so does the show and most of the actors and actresses on it. and EoE is still doing super fine in the ratings even if LYH is having undeserved screentime.

Interesting to read about linking her with SHK, where she is also shouldering the bulk of the blame fr disappointing ratings of WW to how she pronounce her lines and her acting disabilities, which, with a stretch, it's all valid, but imo she has improved and cant be the whole truth to the cold reception the drama is getting fr the audience when everything else about it is at the very very very least good.

And where is the criticisms for PSY in Painter?! I usu adore him but he is lacking for me next to the out of this world amazing Moon and a fantastic drama.

LYH is going to be just fine. She's going places in life with her acting career. If people don't like that than too bad! I don't like this whole unnecessary criticizing and negativity. World That They Live In is another show I'm saving for December. But I'm still hoping that its mania status will help push the 2nd half ratings once Tazza (IMO the real buzz hit of the fall) finishes.

I really like LYH's character in EOE. Her character has a different vibe than the rest of the characters. Her character add a fun into the drama. I would have to say that she is the least boring character on EOE. I hate when people take what someone says and turns it against them. It makes me shake my head in disgust.

Yeah, everywhere, EofE has generated very, very heated discussion between the Lee Yeon Hee and Lee Dae Hae fanbases. A lot of Netizens disliked Yoon Ran greatly early on, but keep in mind that this is usually the case when you have a bratty female heroine (see Bo Ra of Snow Queen <-- even many of Sung Yu Ri's fanbase disliked her.)

Not much heat from or at the Han Ji Hye fanbase, since everybody knows she and LDH are close, and that the main coupling will eventually be LDH and SSH.

Can't wait for the F4 holy war. :D

The other thing is, a good portion of both fanbases do not watch daehas, so they're not used to seeing so many stars in one production. (Romance has been a very small part of the show, unless you count the brother on brother scenes. Bishi!!) Things would have been more catty had they cast Song Seung Heon opposite a true A-list hyun, like Kim Min Jong or my man Lee Jung Jae.

I feel that all the leads have been up and down per episode. Some of it has to do with the writing; some of it has to with this being a unusually young cast for this kind of show.

Honestly I'm not sure why people are fighting the Good Book of K-drama. Says in the first paragraph:

Why are people fighting that LDC/MHR are the inevitable? They have been promoted as the principal couple since before the show began. They even threw in "In the Mood for Love"-style music whenever they have a scene together.

i m one of those crazy DC+YR fan hee he he, and i m requesting to all those DC+YR fans, lets not bring other actor or actresses while defending LYH. i sort of understand the need to vent out the frustration because i know when LYH started to get bashed left, right, front & center by some who wanted LDH to pair with SSH badly, i was pretty mad too (well i m sure there were some valid criticisms)
but pls have consideration for ppl like innocent bystander :)

If you look at EofE's family tree, the setup is pretty much like a daily drama. You have two major families: Shin and Lee. Then, you have much smaller "outsider" families, the Min and Guk families who become important middle-ground for the Shin vs. Lee conflict. It's common in daily dramas for the main "coupling" to arrive about halfway into the show, and sometimes it's not even clear who the main stars are because there's so much focus on other couples.

It's likely the show is going to have a big extension. Min Hye Rin has been everywhere, but she's not been a direct player in the story (the LDW/Ji Hyun storyline went on much longer than I thought) until now. 25 episode sound a lot, but there's not enough time to develop their romance, work out the revelation between the brothers, and resolve the conflict between Shins and Lees. We know that, upon learning of the origin of his birth, Shin Myung Hun will try to protect this secret from destroying his life. And because Ji Hyun is still in the show (which was not the original plan in the original synopsis), that means she will likely in play too.

I like DC/YR a lot; I think people don't realize that they (and DC/DW) are my favorite couple on the show. :D But I think, well, this is K-drama we're talking about and you just have to accept that casting (and relative stardom) dictates who ends up with who. I mean, seriously, most of y'all have watched zillions of dramas and looked at dramawiki; you know what I'm talking about. It's only happened a few times in K-drama, the switching of main couples (Beautiful Days is famous example.) But usually it's between male actors, not actresses.

I should also point out that the fan voice probably won't change the outcome of the story. It's like how American soap work, where write-in campaigns influence who ends up with whom. SSH/LDH's chemistry would have to be SO lethally bad that they completely rewrite the trajectory of the story, which would eliminate an important rivalry element between the two brothers. They HAVE to fall in love with the same woman, be it Min Hye Rin, Ji Hyun, etc.

Case in point: You are My Destiny. Majority of people (me included) wanted Sae Byuk with Kim Tae Poong instead of Kang Ho Se, but that wasn't going to happen because Park Jae Jung was promoted as main lead. If Sae Byuk is written to end up with Tae Poong, then the principal triangle becomes meaningless and the story goes off the tracks.

I'm just being impartial here. If Lee Yeon Hee was promoted as the main actress, I'd be saying that it's inevitable LDC/YR would be together.

Yup I do. I liked their video together with Park Yong Ha, and for the most part, I've liked LYH's work.

I actually disagree with javabeans about LYH's comments. I've heard other young Korean actresses say this too (esp. since the Netizen criticism to actresses can be more personal than to the actors.) In terms of the criticism about her song+dance, the problem there is that she sung it in a Western vocal style, which was inappropriate. However, while the criticism is valid, the pointedness of it from Netizens was unfair. 95% of actresses out there, who haven't studied traditional performance in high school or university, would have sung it the same way. It would have taken much longer preparation for her to do it correctly. So her comment about the preparation and her commitment is reflected there too.

The show was cast with these three as the main leads: Song Seung Heon, Lee Dae Hae, and Yun Jung Hoon. Because SSH is the anchor of the show, he will win the triangle, and he will end up with the female lead, LDH. It doesn't matter how I feel about it; this is the end result. In a way, I think it sucks because I've grown really fond of LDC/YR, but I know there's really no point in investing hope in this couple. Moreover, this also screws over LDW, who may end up with nobody at the end of the show. That is just how K-dramas are written; can't change it.

If LYH was cast as main female lead, I'd be saying the same thing about SSH/LYH being the inevitable end and probably make a bunch of LDH fans angry too.

In the promotion, they brought up the triangle will be primarily between the two brothers and her. It's also the standard K-drama formula. I've tried with other shows to believe that the "underdog" character that I really liked will win, be it trendy, sageuk, daeha, etc. Hasn't happened.

Probably not. If anything, EOE has been rigorously conventional with how they've approached the storyline.

It looks like storyline will have LDC move toward the General and his people. That's more Min territory than Guk territory. So, yes, it looks like they're now going to push LDC/MHR big time, even though he'll probably be torn over Grace, who's suffering in that bed. REALLY hoping that they don't kill her off.

There's an innate limitation with shipping and K-dramas. If you root for the underdog couple, you're going to lose. Every. Time. You just accept it and hope they end up doing another show together. Like, uhhh, Won Bin and Song Hye Kyo.
