Geez if a possible hug only costs an additional $2 have they TOTALLY undersold SJS or what!!!! @_@ Poor guy is going to get sexually harassed for a measly 2 bucks. LOL Damn should be off trying to book a flight to NYC + grabbing my $15 for tix!

@ mishane - LOL! I've never gotten pick up lines like that, unfortunately. I have gotten things like "Do you like books? I like books too! We should totally go on a date." Then again, I tend to attract younger guys (DO NOT WANT. DX), so I suppose they haven't really evolved any subtlety or smoothness yet. ^^;;

My aunts let my mom name their kids and she came up with "Rutherford" for one and "Calwayne" for the other. Gah. At least my first name is normal!
Honestly, I wonder how many people are going to show up to this thing in NYC. I have no idea how big the Korean Entertainment community in NYC is. I'm already planning to show up an hour early just in case and so I can get a close seat. I think I'll spend the whole time throwing winks at SJS.
Maybe I'll "accidentally" trip into his arms and then our lips will accidentally meet and then he'll bring me home to his grandpa where I can pretend to be his long lost cousin and we can . . . oh wait.
I am really enjoying City Hall. Didn't have much expectation in the beginning as the subject didn't seem to be that interesting. Wanted to watch it because of Kim Suna and didn't really know who Cha Seung Won was. It was a real surprise - good story telling, good acting from all the characters and mainly the lead is doing a fantastic job.
KSA always has good chemistry with her costars but with CSW it is sizzling. Both have good comedic timing and are good in more dramatic scenes. Not to mention that CSW is so hot.
Writer did a good job keeping everything interesting and suspenseful.
just wanna drop a line on Ip Man. I'm so not a kung fu /action movie gal, anything that doesn't have dialogues for intervals of minutes...I'll fall asleep (even Bourne) and I've seen them all. On top of that, VERY sceptical of Donnie Yen's acting ability prior...but seriously, quoting samsooki's IFC Center quote: “it is physically impossible for this movie to be any more awesome.” < easily mine. GO SEE IT! (mishane: Have fun and yeah, harrass SJS for all the fangirls!)
@ Kender: *sigh* by the time I turn to TCM for Kagemusha, it's almost done.. SO sad.. T_T I've always wanna see that one, and now ...still haven't. My first Kurosawa experience was embarrassing: for some odd reason, a bunch of us went to see Rhapsody in August in theatre and we're wayyy too young, never even heard of Nagasaki, sooo lost and bored, we started making fun of too many scenes and was kicked out. Our bad.
@ 58 mishane - LOL, that sucks. Your mom sounds like a trip. My parents were convinced I was going to be a boy, so they didn't have any girl names picked out for me.. They ended up naming me after my dad's cousin who called to congratulate him that day, while my middle name came from a Beatles' song. Luckily, they're both fairly normal names, but still. Poor you. :P
Gaaaaah, the more I think about it, the more I want to go to NYC to hug SJS. So jealous. ㅠ_ㅠ
@ 61 mookie - Aww, that's sad. :( You should go rent it or something.. I think it's probably my favourite Kurosawa film (Seven Samurai comes close, though, and Ran was brilliant), so it's definitely worth whatever means necessary to watch it. Seriously, the man was practically blind when he filmed it! *in awe*
Anyway. So, in preparation for The Man Who Can't Get Married, I'm about to start watching Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. Given the overwhelming adoration I've noticed for this drama, I thought I'd tell people so they can give me a thumbs-up or spazz with me later if they'd like. XD
I wonder how many bodyguards will tackle you if you start out by grabbing his butt and then asking if you can touch his stomach. But if you get the courage to sprint past the bodyguards and molest SJS, we'll be cell-phone videotaping the encounter. :)
As for things that will get his attention other than "I'm a crazy stalker and I want to molest you," you might consider just going up to him, leaning in and whispering this into his ear, in your sexiest voice:
"소지섭씨... 보이지 않는 카리스마...보았습니다..."
romanization:
"So Ji Sub sshee.. Bo-ee-jee ahn-nun ka-ris-ma ...bo-ahh-ss-sum-ni-da..."
rough translation:
"Mr. So Ji Sub... your invisible charisma...I have seen it..."
Why:
So Ji Sub was very recently made a model/spokesperson for Vonin (an uber high-end maker of skincare products, whose slogan is "invisible charisma"). By saying this to SJS, you'll be showing off your Korean, your knowledge of his skin-care products hawking, admitting to him that his magnetic charm is working on you, and declaring your fangirl-ism all in one short sentence.
:)
If you do THAT, guaranteed he will never forget you.
Hmmm, maybe I should get my wife to say that... then he will hang out with his later and then give me KJH cell phone number.... ...then I can mail pics of me and KJH to bspanda and hjkomo.
You know what, mishane, you should ask samsooki to jazz up his hair to his binnie-est, show up in his metro-pinkshirt-whiteslack look and sashay his way thro the bodyguards, lawyer talk up SJS....buying u ample, ample time to sneak up fr behind, grab or touch whatever u can and whisper that line.
I'm enjoying Queen Seon Duk. Little Deok Man is plucky, but Go Hyun Jung is awesome scary as the villain. O_o
@ mishane & bspanda
ROFL at the pick-up lines! :P
@ Samsooki
Yes, please record SJS's molestation by mishane. ;)
But DREAM ON! about KJH....he's not coming anywhere near 500 miles (let alone, 500 feet) from you... :P
re: MBC America, if you want to see Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Hyun Joo, Jang Hyuk, and Kim Ha Neul in their younger days, check out Into The Sunlight airing on weekend evenings.
And Triple will probably start airing after Cinderella Man ends, so you can join in on the drooling over JB's men.
Can't remember who asked about where to watch Shining Inheritance/Brilliant Legacy:
- dl from aja-aja
- subs by HaruHaru at d-addicts
WOOOO.... I started Shinning Inheritance and managed to finish 14 eps in 2 days...now I have to wait for weekly show now...love it. Started Romance Zero last night but lost interest after 2 eps... NY is too far from Seattle for So Ji Sub. Have a nice weekend everyone....
@57 lb_tmi - haha i go thru changes of who's my favorite too!! i started liking the magnae chansung cuz i saw him in a star golden bell episode with jae and junho and jae was making fun of how much he eats and chansung was all embarrased and it was cute :) and then i saw the again & again video and i fell in love with junsu (the whole stand-up collar business and scarves and side-swept hair looks so good on him and hearing him sing was like..omo... haha) and taec (imo he is the most 'typically' good looking guy in the group) and his low gravelly rapping voice is HOT (though his singing voice could use a lil work). and somewhere along the line i started noticing khunnie and the adorable lil things he does (his winks and smile kill me everytime).... i mean really, the kid is kind of over the top ridiculously cute...
anyways, i'm a total fangirl when it comes to 2PM. it's kind of embarrassing since I have not fangirled since the days of NSYNC lol.
ps - what is junsu's rendition of "wild flower"? Where can i get me some of THAT?? :o) I actually found a video of junsu, junho and jae singing Rain's 'I Do' on a radio program and would LOVE to have that on mp3 if i could only find it! I also giggled when I heard Junho singing a Rain song since he is totally mini-Rain! =P
After reading some of the banter above, a funny thought came into my head. What if SJS is reading this! I'm picturing him on stage saying "where's mishane? I'll let you touch my butt if I can touch yours!"
@52 Kender; I don't like how the writers are turning Sung Mi into a potental evil stepsister. I always thought she cared alot for Eun Sung and her stepbrother. It was until she found out about Eun Sung's dad being alive, That she started turning somewhat evil.
Also... what is with Eun Sung's dad? He faked his death, and expects to return to to his normal life? He's a dead beat, and douche. If I was Eun Sung, I would be really pissed if I found out that my father was still alive... and that he couldn't do anything to stop what Eun Sung's step mother did.
It would been better, if Eun Sung's father had some kind of amnesia... then at least it would of made him not a bad person.
Everyone in that family irritates me to no end. How can grown adults past their 30's be so irresponable? Hwan's family is no different. His mother and sister are annoying. They are basicly spoiled and lazy.
This whole drama annoys me... yet I still watch it, because of the cliffhangers.
Just pull a fast one...and then blame the guy with the Binnie hair standing next to you. ;)
SJS won't be the wiser...his bud KJH is sure to have given him ample warning about going to NYC. :P
@71 that guy - LOL! Eun-soo's dad always creeps me out.. I've never really liked that actor, so I think that's colouring my opinion of him a little. But yeah, I agree, I hate him for expecting that everything will be all hunky-dory once his family finds out he's alive. If he'd just stayed "dead," staying out of his family's lives, I could sorta get behind him, but the man committed insurance fraud and expects to get away with it? What does he think is going to happen? As for Seung-mi.. Although I'm still not 100% behind her change in character, it's not completely unexpected. Her ridiculous devotion to Hwan is the driving force behind her scheming--it's not dislike of Eun-soo, although that might change once she starts to see Eun-soo as a rival for Hwan's affections. It is a little much, though, I do agree with that.
I'm totally waiting for Hwan's mom and Butler Pyo to develop some sort of relationship. Middle-aged romance is always my favourite subplot in dramas, and those two are ridiculously adorable. :3
I'm listening to and loving V V Brown's 'Shark in the water'.
The unofficial promo trailer for the 'Warrior's Way' has piqued my interest. It looks good.
I'm hooked on Atashinchi no Danshi ( I know there are a few people here watching it). It's so cute and sweet and funny, Iand just want to pinch its cheeks! Well, if it was a person and not a TV show that is. But still!
Oh noez, i think there is something wrong with my computer, because it kept showing only 3 comments. But there are 77 comments already. I feel so cheated now, it's a conspiracy i tell ya!
@mishane: You will get to see SJS? The SO JI SUB? In Person? In his HUMAN manifestation? OHMYFG, I am so jealous. And happy for you--really.
Did you know about this appearance weeks ahead or something because if I had known about this even a couple weeks ago I would have bought tickets and flown out. It's so unfair because I am off to vacation and i would have GLADLY put that money and vacation time toward SJS. Bahamas or Possible chance to be in the same auditorium as So Ji Sub for a few minutes? Not even close.
Your pick up lines are hilarious. "Is this seat taken"? Ahh-haa, ha. HA.
Please send SJS our love -- tell him he features prominently, and in great detail and varying degrees of undress, in the daydreams of at least one person here in America. And I will bet many, many, MANY more.
---
About Atasinchi: I love that show so much. I have already watched Ep 8 about six times because the lead up to the great moment is just as sweet as the moment. To paraphrase: Is this an accident? No. Is this because of a full moon? No, there is no full moon.
-----
About Story of a Man: I have a lot to say about the ending, but will wait until JB caps it.
---
About Shining inheritance: I watched a few episodes and it is definitely like crack. Unfortunately, like crack, it also made my stomach hurt. Did no one else just feel dread and tension and OMG-what-will-happen-to-her during EVERY episode? I hate evil stepmother stories because the protagonist is so completely outmatched. If you are a kid, how do you even begin to counter an adult like this?
---
OMG, mishane -- you will see So Ji Sub? Are you floating on air right now, with your head in the clouds, with rainbows everywhere raining skittles?
I found out about the festival last week (it's yearly, the New York Asian Film Festival) and apparently every year they have a lot of guest attendees. I only found out a few days ago that SJS would be attending and getting an award so I bought the ticket right away. I'm considering buying the ticket for the showing the night before also. I mean it's only $13.50!! Why not?! Plus, maybe he'll remember my face!
To be deadly completely honest, I might be the worst SJS fangirl because I've only seen him on MISA and I'm not a HUGE fan of him. I think he's mildly attractive, but he's not on my top 10. That said, I'm still crazy excited because I will be meeting him (and Kong Hyo Jin!!) and they are both actors that I thought I'd never get the chance to see in real life. So yay! And come out next year. I'm sure they'll have more people then too!
I'm not a mad fangirl of SJS either, still he's undeniably oozing manly sex appeal and can act up a storm. And if I ever see him in person, self control will be out the door..
even more random and pervie, That Heat is on my ipod, with the '1for the treble, 2 for the bass, 3 for the ladies..4 for the.....' ....um..
Just saw the teaser trailer for Marine Boy with Kim Kang-woo and Park Si-yeon (both fantastic in Story of a Man). It looks intense, has anyone seen it?
@mishane:
I got to "mildly attractive" and spewed out my coffee all over my computer :-) . This only means that you will actually remain sane when you see SJS whereas I would be a puddle of mush. You should definitely buy a ticket for the night before, but that's just my unbiased opinion ;-) .
You should watch What Happened in Bali. You will cry buckets but it's worth it.
Personally I think he looks better in print than on film. He is very photogenic and his quirky sense of style sets him apart from others. To me he is like the Tadanobu Asano of Korea -- non mainstream, unusual, off beat, and intriguing.
Have I mentioned how jealous I am?
@nycgirl:
DO IT! Don't just be tempted. If SJS is on your top 5 list, GO FOR IT!!! Your pick up line is, haa-ha, wacky and head-scratching, just the way SJS likes them, I think.
LOL ... your pick up line is HI-LAI-RI-OUS! I love it. You should use it. You have to go for original, otherwise you'll just blend in with the rest of the screaming fangirls. LOL
nah! what have you got to lose? :D don't live life with regrets and 'what ifs'. LOL I'm still laughing hysterically here from your pick up line ... and it's 2:40am!
Hi Open Thread People! Ok, I'm going to admit, I have no idea what the topic is tonight, because I really didn't read any comments. Sorry, folks, I'm just a little lazy tonight. I do want to give a shout out to Javabeans. We all love her recaps, right? (Of course we do, or we wouldn't be here.) But does anyone know how hard it is to recap a show? I am very new to the Kdrama world and have only watched two shows, Boys Over Flowers (which I am now watching for the third time) and Coffee Prince. I tried blogging/recapping these on my own websited, and DUDE, it's not easy! After I just linked to Javabeans recap for the fifth (or sixth?) episode of Coffee Prince, I gave up. And too think, she watches & recaps several at one time! She's Superwoman, that's all.
Also, to everyone out there who has more Kdrama knowledge than me, can someone recommend the next drama I should watch? I'm torn between Fireworks and H.I.T. Now, my "Kdrama Mama" recommends H.I.T. and that is one I want to see, I'm just not sure if I want to watch it now. My taste in TV shows is eclectic. I loved BoF & Coffee Prince, and as far as American TV is concerned, I love CSI, Charmed, NCIS, 90210, Dark Angel, Scrubs, Privledged, and well, a lot of different stuff. I love things with strong female leads and really cute boys. Any recommendations? Thanks! You all rock!
High Five!!! This show is what gets me through the week, I'm tellin ya. An absolute stressbuster. Love every single episode and can't wait for the next one each week.
Loved the part where Mi Rae was going through all the City Hall books and wouldn't answer Jo Gook's phonecalls. And Jo Gook was frantically looking for her and leaving messages on her phone like, 'are you on a date with the neighbourhood oppa?'. I don't know why but I kind of wish I was that 'neighbourhood oppa' that Jo Gook was jealous of. I didn't use to find KSA attractive but she's suddenly hot to me now, and the pretend-cute image her character puts on when she's with Jo Gook I don't find annoying but, actually, quite endearing.
To all the ladies out here, what was your neighbourhood oppa like?
@Andromytta: Welcome to the kdrama world, first off the fact that you've seen BOF more than once is surprising but its points towards you having tolerance of tackyness then.
From your tastes start with Delightful Girl, My Girl, Goong and Fullhouse, they're pretty much the best introductions in to K drama, and check out Dramabeans drama ratings, the girl knows what she's talking about.
Thanks! My Kdrama Mama recommended some of those same shows! And yes, I have quite a high tolerance for tackyness...I grew up watching Aaron Spelling shows! *lol* The more over the top, the better! There are just so many shows I want to see that I can't decide what to watch next!
Start with Delightful girl and My Girl, easy to watch, fun, well acted. But whatever happens stay away from Witch Yoo Hee and Exhibition of Fireworks, no matter what people say those shows were god awful.
I'm considering watching "Goong" next. I'm somewhat limited to what's on Dramafever, since I'm afraid to download too much to my laptop. I'll definitely check and see if either of those two shows are on there. I'm all about shows that are fun and easy to watch. This is what I do to relieve stress, since my job is chock full of things that are niether fun or easy! *lol* Thank you so much for your input. It's greatly appreciated!
Omgosh! This looks more and more like a SJS+Mishane love thread.
HI-FIVE to all CITY HALLERS!
Just finished subbing Ep 14 late last night. And I have panda eyes to show.
Boy! What a feeling! Got to watch it again. Couldn't appreciate it entirely while my mind was focusing on getting the subs right.
Might need boxes and boxes of kleenex for the next couple of epis. But I hope the writer is sensible enough to inject some tears of joy!
They just started showing BL tonight (in Hawaii). I was going to try to catch it later when the subs for all the episodes are done but couldn't resist turning it on. Probably a bad idea coz I think I'm going to be stuck following it. May even cheat and find the subs and watch onwards. It's not so great so far but saw the ratings and all the great things being said on this site....sounds like it's going to get much better.
@47 alasam - by the way, I laughed about what you wrote on Hwan fighting. I don't think he can take down anyone - he seems a little bit of a wimp especially since Eun Sung could take him down.

XD

@50, mishane,
I wonder how many bodyguards will tackle you if you start out by grabbing his butt and then asking if you can touch his stomach.
Hmmm, maybe I should get my wife to say that... then he will hang out with his later and then give me KJH cell phone number.... ...then I can mail pics of me and KJH to bspanda and hjkomo.
...yes, my plan is all coming together now...

@nycgirl:
DO IT! Don't just be tempted. If SJS is on your top 5 list, GO FOR IT!!! Your pick up line is, haa-ha, wacky and head-scratching, just the way SJS likes them, I think.

@ omo and other City Hallers,
High Five!!!
