Tori Amos – “Leather.” I said that the Kim Yoon-ah song I posted last night (in the post below) reminded me of Tori Amos, so I thought, “Ooh, Tori Amos.” [ Download ]

@langdon813 - wait wait what... a chance it won't end how it's SUPPOSED to??? well i know how i want it to end and how it's supposed to end.. any other conclusion is unacceptable and i shall rage if that happens.. rage i say!! and then cuddle with im ju hwan... mm...

@lb_tmi - haha yap $20 massages. i actually had found another place that did spa-style massages for $65/hour and i thought that was great!! and then my friend introduced me to the chinese reflexology places and i never looked back.

re: 2AM bodies - seriously...i mean..SERIOUSLY... only maknae kept his hidden hehe!! lol @ lb_tmi's term: baby abs... he really is a baby! only 18....sigh. why oh why must they all be so young.... at least my channie looks older, even if he is only a spry 19...

re: LBH - finished the first ep of All In... it's still the young version of him yet so i haven't gotten to experience the magical glory that is LBH... but i gotta say, kinda diggin his young version - i think he kinda has a.. kim rae won style smirky smile, ya know? anyways, enjoying this series so far... but 24 episodes!! damn. that's a lot for me nowadays hehe.

@ripgal - viikii has issues connecting to youtube sourced videos, but i think they just released a plug-in so that you won't have problems with that anymore. however there are times when there's too many people on viikii that they give priority to donators, contributors or members. it is NOT required to donate at all, but you do get priority if you do. yes viikii-quality video is not good at all, but they are so darn fast in their subbing that i'll watch it anyway..and then watch it again in HD w/o subs cuz i know what's happened by then anyway haha.. and w/o subs in HD means concentrating on the beauty that is im ju hwan :)

@gracefulmoonie - i'm super addicted to tamra as well!! i been searching youtube for fanvids and interviews and tho i have no idea what im ju hwan is sayin during the interviews, i just like listening and watchin him speak... sighs. i DLed HD videos of all episodes available so far and have been just watching those over and over again to get my fix before the next 2 episodes hehe. i'm totally fangirling over him!
oh also regarding your posting problem - nope not just you.. it happens once in awhile. just give it a few minutes and refresh a few times and it'll pop up. JB once explained it but i don't remember the exact explanation (sorry JB!) - but it had something to do with it just gettin stuck. it'll eventually just filter thru if u wait it out. i've totally double/triple posted cuz of that before i figure out i just had to be patient and wait hehe.

Voice fully rested and prepared for squealing. Check.
Tissues. Check.
Hands ready to hold and comfort fellow Islanders. Check.
Tub of ice cream to soften the blow. Oh, noes!...nah, too lazy to go to the market. :P

FYI, for the bold/italics, use [text] ...or "i" instead of "b" and remove the "*" and spaces.
Feel free to scold me when I go overboard with them (as I am frequently prone to do).

@ lb_tmi, lovenyc52

My Chinese place (haha, mine!) charges $45/hr - a steal where I live - but an hour's not long enough for me. I always get the $85 for 2 hrs. massage (where I'm lying on my stomach for at least an hour and a half). They even walk on my back, which is the only way to get lower back muscles properly kneaded. WORTH EVERY PENNY!
At most day spas, even the deep tissue massages feel like a light Swedish on me. And once, years ago, a [non-Asian] masseuse told me she used the same amount of pressure on me as what she uses on 300-lb. man....you get the idea.

Oh no, don't worry! I got a huge kick out of the tally (and wow, that must have been hard work, too)! I thought it was great! It just confirmed what I've known all along and that's that I like to run my mouth. It's all good, my Islander friend! :-)

regarding posting errors:

lovenyc52 has the right of it -- it's the spam/moderation filter. Sometimes comments get held in the moderation queue (usually if it has a link, or a lot of emoticons) and I'll go in and mark it as ok. If you type a comment and it disappears altogether, it got marked as spam for some reason, and I will un-spam the comment. I have NO IDEA why some comments go into moderation and others go into spam, but if I will get to it, promise!

Congratulations Mr & Mrs. Samsooki!!

hope that makes sense - it won't let me show the signs :(

149 gracefulmoonie : North and South -- I found it completely by accident and loved it, too. Richard Armitage was excellent. I had a bit of a bad experience with the series, but I still love it. The first disk got stuck in my laptop when I went to rewatch it after going through all 4 eps once.. and was stuck in my laptop for over a month. I saw it over and over and over again. I had to get the DVD drive replaced. Twice. The second time b/c after replacing it once, the tech guy tried to show me how the new dvd drive was working perfectly and he put the disk in and it got stuck again. He couldn't figure out why so he had to put a new drive in. Now I'm always nervous when I put a disk in my laptop. And a I bought a new set of North and South and only watch on my DVD player/TV.

@lb_tmi - omg you haven't watched All In?? oops!! ignore the first part of the email i sent you then ahaha...oh wait, i guess it doesn't really count as a spoiler since it literally happens in the first 10 minutes of the show haha. ji sung plays his friend right? oo just saw his wiki - cute! no idea who he is though haha. i'm currently watching on mysoju cuz it wasn't on dramafever :( quality isn't TOO bad.... i may have to DL it later to properly enjoy LBH...

@hjkomo - i feel that chinese reflexology places use a lot more strength than the traditional day spas and i LIKE it!! it took some getting used to, but they stretch you and use so much strength..it's crazy. i used to be more comfortable with the women doin the massage versus men, but then i realized all the women there were these tiny lil things and their elbows and hands were too bony. so now i prefer men cuz they gots more meat! haha! (you know...it was kind of difficult writing this response w/o making it sound dirty!! i had to think about the words very carefully to translate from the chinese massage terms to an equivalent english meaning lol!)

I really should go to bed b/c I have another day at the film festival tomorrow, but I just want to say, if there's ever a prize for best "names" on this site, I want to nominate

gotanexamlater
angryparsnip

both names which make me laugh (at their cleverness) every time I see them.

And ockoala, b/c I'm a bit slow of thinking far too often, for the longest time I read your name in my head as "ock-o-alla" and I just couldn't figure out what possible significance it could have. But a while ago you said something about being in California, I think, and suddenly I was mentally able to separate OC and Koala. Literally like a lightbulb went on my head. (Then went out when I smacked my forehead too hard.)

FIRST.... @Mr. and Mrs. Samsooki CONGRATULATIONS! Baby Samsooki...I am so glad that you are about to enter our Kdrama world of crazy Korean love, random adult actor adoptions and possessive posters! Oh and Baby Samsooki, listen to Daddy Samsooki and pay close attention to your hyungs...they are loved and revered by all(as you will be).

@anyone who has been, is or knows someone pregnant
Do strangers talk to and touch your stomach? Idk but this is something that weirds me out about pregnancy. Why would someone do that?

Anyway...

What 400! Where the heck was I? Hate I missed...what about 300 posts!

@39 Langdon813 "Countdown to IRIS is on! LBH and TOP trying to out-hot and/or kill each other. Good times!! "
LOL couldn't agree more!

@81 Criminal Minds! Now that show is crack! Have you seen the one with Garcia's abduction? I haven't really seen the subsequent eps and I need to find them! Anyone know how?

@ Nodame discussion... I started watching this show and I really don't remember how far I got but I had to stop. I didn't want to but it was just too silly for me. I will say though that I absolutely loved the two Specials and now that I know a movie is on the way I am out to dig up this preview!

@ everyone.... I've seen a few dramas, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and now I am in a rut. I can't find anything to watch. I want to see something light and funny while I wait for my other shows to begin or get subbed. I'm dying here! I just haven't found anything that I want to see. I started 5 dramas and I haven't gotten past the first 5 mins or the first ep. This is SO not like me! HELP!

@ those that DL and watch Jdrama, the only subbing group I know of is SARS and so I usually only watch their stuff. Are there other reliable groups with more/diff dramas? I haven't check d-addicts, is that the best place to go?

Ok so really long post... Happy Friday...erm Saturday!

@152 lovenyc52

Thanx for the tips. I think I'll just download the Chinese subbed episodes and marathon them this weekend. We have 4 days of Raya holidays here in Malaysia and I'm sooooo HYPED! No work next Mon and Tue straight for 2 days... YIPPEE!!

@ LBH and IRIS

Wow, we're counting down days to the premier of IRIS already? I still remember I was grunting in June/July on how I had to wait 3 more months until I can see LBH on screen (in a full drama) again. Now this is quick! Can't wait!

Anyway gotta figure this out. I watched G.I. Joe few weeks ago. Wanted to know if LBH really delivered his English lines on spot, or whether his lines were dubbed and added on to the movie later on? Just curious... cos no matter how hard I tried to observe, I can't figure it out. But either way, his English sounds awesome. (Was it his voice btw?)

@Nea

Not that I can recommend good ones for you, but may I know which dramas you've seen lately and have not managed to go pass the first 5 mins?

Hi guys...I'm finally free ( actually 1 more day) from my 8 days stint. I'm really tired. I actually dozed off as I was reading OT #101 not because of the content(it's always good), but just plain old tired.
If you are wondering why I worked so much, I did it so that my hubby can go on his Hawaii trip. And before you all say ' what????", I told him to go. As I had mentioned before, I spent the whole summer in the hospital. The poor thing took me to all the MD's visits, stayed with me @ the hospital, and then worked both his and my days( we both have the same occupation and thus can cover for each other). When his bro-in-law decided on the Maui's trip, I told hubby that he should go. I would be lying if I said it was easy. I had to put on many hats(drivers, work, cook for the kids,etc), but I think sometimes the couples need to show each other that they are appreciated. Besides, my kdrama can be watch anytime! But I miss you guys a lot- I "lurked", but too tired to read all the entries and participate.

@Mr and Mrs Samsooki Congrats....From what I read on OT, I can tell that your baby will be very smart ,sensitive, and considerate.( NOW I know why all those mochi ice cream runs!!!! Was it the Mr or the Mrs's craving?) Don't worry about CH. Get all the rest that you can now...hope the delivery will be smooth. We can't wait to see/hear about little Sam(sooki).

@58 mishane regarding those 80's CD: this actually caught Mr cingdoc's eyes(he's an audiophile of all genre); he's wondering if The Orleans' Forever is on it. He has been looking for this particular song for a long time.

This is gonna be a long post, DB-ers, buckle up or else ignore me (I advocate the latter).

@ 138 simplesim-moni

"but LBH’s intensity, eyes, silent look, censure, angry jealousy just sucks you in, right? I love his walk ‘manly gait’? Hmm… if only, he’s a little taller…(covering from LBH fans). "

Yup, you've covered pretty much all that was mesmerizing about LBH in BD. I second the height thing, it's obvious when he's paired up with a tall actress like CJW, less distracting with a petiter like SHG. Don't duck from LBH fans, we're one of them, and if we can't discuss a fact like height, or lack thereof, it's just silly. His height bothers me not a whit, because when he's onscreen, his presence towers over everyone in the same scene. And he's perfectly proportioned, so to me, he's more than perfect, cuz I'm a midget on a good day.

Enjoy Tamra, sounds like you may need some comforting afterwards. We'll be here to listen to your happiness/sorrow.

@ 148 ripgal (and other Nodame lovers)

Yes, the actress who played Nodame, and Ariel Lin who played Xiang Qin, both when you see them interviewed, are so sophisticated, poised, articulate, graceful, it's amazing how it becomes impossible to shake off their Nodame/Xiang Qin persona because they became their characters.

If one sees ISWAK and Nodame for what they are - adapted from a manga - then the adaptations were perfection, and the OTT-ness stemmed from the manga genre being neigh impossible to translate to live action without seeming a tad OTT to say the least.

@ ripgal, 168 djes

Takenouchi Yutaka - sigh, man is sexy without even trying. Okay, one more comparison which is probably a diss on Mr. Hallyu himself Kwan Sang-woo (after what belleza and I did in OT 100 with poor KSW, this is nothing) - I always felt he was trying tooooo hard to be sexy (kinda like my Seung Song-hun seems to be doing as well these days). Some guys just ooze sex appeal, others ooze ahjumma/okasan appeal. KSW, definitely the latter. Yutaka - he can't help it if a woman sees him and wants to rip his clothes off.

@ 151 lovenyc52

"finished the first ep of All In… it’s still the young version of him yet so i haven’t gotten to experience the magical glory that is LBH… but i gotta say, kinda diggin his young version "

and @ lb_tmi

" have YET to watch All In.. i’ve been an LBH lover based on movies.. and Beautiful Days. definitely need to watch All In tho.. Ji Sung is in there "

Okay, you two, did I start a sudden mad dash for All In? I sure hope so, I really did enjoy the drama, for 2 main reason (I will do a in depth review at a later time) - it introduced me properly to LBH, and it was very well produced hence entertaining. However, it did drag a bit (I would have shortened it to 20 eps).

The young version of LBH was pitch-perfect, with the swarthy skin, the smirk and swagger, the intensity. The rest of the teenage cast was also commendable, but for me, young LBH stood out - and lead to LBH himself.

I read a review of All In somewhere, where the reviewer said it perfectly, if you asked me what All In is about, the answer is "It's all about a girl." Yup, the entire story happens and is propelled because of Song Hye-gyo's character. LBH's devotion to SHG is sweet, so very sweet and old-fashioned.

And yes, All In does have a young Ji Sung. @ lb_tmi, you know him, since you said it's win-win. I loved him in New Heart, it was IMO his best role, and best acting hands down. @ lovenyc52, I suggest watching New Heart someday, it's a good drama, and JI Sung is so adorably charming in that role. He may be most "famous" for being in Save the Last Dance for Me with Eugene (and Lee Bo Young - who was saddled with what is probably the most insane, crazy second female lead I recall watching in any drama).

@ reluctantbutaddicted

I love you! Call me whatever you want, but you made me laugh out loud so hard, because after I randomly chose my name that morning of OT because I was consumed with so much City Hall love I had to comment or else I would literally explode, I've always wondered how people who read it. Now I know.

@ 164 Nea

Yes, people did touch my belly, but I barely showed in both pregnancys, so it didn't happen until much later, and very rarely, thank god. I don't think a pregnant women slapping someone upside the head for randomly touching my personal parts would be a good sight to see.

To everyone: IRIS countdown started with belleza many many OTs ago, and I am trying to fan the flames, because other than LBH, it's got eye candy galore and location shoot candy aplenty. My only quibble is with the casting of Kim Tae Hee, I don't hate her, I just think she is a terribly awkward actress, but here's hoping for the best.

After people discussing Be Strong Geum Soon last week I decided to rewatch it and the first thing I stumbled upon:

Geum Soon's first husband is Bidam from Queen Seon Deok!!! Really, including the smile and all - just sporting an awful, boring haircut... I just love it when I rewatch shows and movies and discover actors / actresses who have become more popular in the supporting cast.

@ockoala - i love your posts! always so funny, insightful and well-written. and yes you totally did start a mad dash for all in. after you said you were watching it everyone commented on how good it was so naturally i HAD to check it out!! i'm still just getting into the episodes so i'm not sure what the series is SUPPOSED to be about yet. since it's a bit older i haven't found much info on it, but thanks for the heads up about it 'all about a girl'. i am a total sucker for devoted love ha!

as for Tamra - none of us better need comforting afterwards... it better end how it's supposed to (read: the way i want it to hahah!!). i'll have to wait for the japanese distribution too cuz i want to see all 20 episodes how it was meant to be seen, not just the edited 16. sigh!

oh ya, also can't wait to read your dissertation of All In later on :)

@lb_tmi: Mr. cingdoc was very happy that my friends at OT was able to find his song. We shared the earbuds and listened together.
Re: my hospital stay- since this is my escape from reality(work, kids, etc) I won't bored you guys with details- nothing fatal, just weeks of loss of balance and major vertigo, and the doctors say that there's "nothing wrong with you"diagnosis

@lovenyc52 I know now why we click- you hang out the same places that I do- Rowland Hts, etc. OMG, I could have stood in line next to you at the old HK Market, lol. Massages: I give great messages( you can ask my Mom and hubby), but I'm too ticklish to receive them, except the walking on my back part- and that I ask my still skinny 11yo little cingdoc to do it for $2 (child labor???)

some oc news: some friends of ours just told us that GG Thai Nakorn has just reopened. OC here I come...

@cingdoc - haha i used to spend a lot more time in rowland and arcadia area, but not as much anymore (unless i need me a cheapy massage hehe). my friends' parents own Little Bean (the boba shop off colima and fullerton) and i usually go to the massage place upstairs from there. i also used to troll the Life Plaza off fullerton for the newest mando-pop and yummy snacks hehe. Ohhh... i swear i used to drive up to arcadia every other week to get dumplings from din tai fung. even if i had to wait an hour to SHARE a table on a weeknight, i'd go. the dumplings are that good hehe.

re: massages - i used to be SUPER ticklish, but i've since adapted. my lower back is still what really gets me (and sadly that's usually the place i need the most work!). to me, a good massage makes me sore the next day hehe. love it!

re: mm thai food. i haven't been to Thai Nakom - you said they just reopened, when did they close? i'm assuming it's good?

I hope you're getting some much needed rest...it really sucks when the doctors say 'there's nothing wrong' but you very obviously FEEL like there's something wrong. take care of yourself! health comes first!! (even before kdramas hehe!! shocking, i know!)

Almost forgot you guys were SoCal-ers as well. I also hang in the same places, when I get a chance. My fave foot massage place is in the plaza across from the Nogales Ranch 99. Next to the Burger King.

I'm still digesting All In while I'm watching Beautiful Days, and I'd like to assemble my thoughts before reviewing it. I promise it'll be short, no more ramblings from me.

@ lb_tmi

Kim Tae Hee's eyes - I believe they are both her blessing and her curse. She's got one set of the largest, roundest peepers in the industry, and word is that she is 100% natural, which makes it even more enviable and lustrous to behold. Yet, with her tendency to widen them in every single instance that calls for an emotional reaction - whether happy (wide-eyed bliss), sad (wide-eyed despair), furious (wide-eyed glare), evil-plotting (wide-eyed showing my brain is thinking of nefarious plot to off my step-sister), confused (wide-eyed shock) - well, you get the picture.

With all my love recently for the Yoons very touching eye-acting in Ep 9 of MFL, and LBH's eye-acting I've been watching non-stop for a week, Kim Tae-hee is someone who should STOP eye-acting and learn to act with her entire repertoire of body parts. I suggest she start with incorporating the rest of her face to support her eyes. So far, her eyes have done all the heavy lifting, they must be tired by now, perhaps her eye brows or her mouth could learn the lift and quiver that would contribute to portraying a credible expression of anger?

@ cingdoc - what is GG Thai Nakorn? Come to the OC! Sorry you were not feeling well, hope all is better. I also attempt to use the fruit of my loins for free child labor, but a 2 year old is not so adept at massaging my sore feet.

@ All Tamra lovers..

I just finished Ep 1 Chinese subbed! HQ really makes a difference... I found myself rewatching the whole episode without even forwarding the scenes altho I've already seen 60% of it Eng subbed in viikii. Just because everything from the music to the scenery - just so BEAUTIFUL in HD!~ Can't wait to catch up with you guys on the remaining 11 episodes!!

p/s: Im Joo Hwan is such a HOTTIEEE!! Love his deep voice .<

I read a post in OT#100 (sorry I forgot who posted this) saying that KSW doesn't really have good chemistry with his drama co-stars. I so totally agree! I don't think I ever liked his drama co-stars (save for Myung Seh Bin in Into the Sun, which I though faired better). He had WAY BETTER chemistry with Kim Ha Neul in their movies together. (But too bad they fell out or something? Sighz)

@ripgal 167 Are you ready?
Well tonight I started Jewel in the Palace and Super Rookie, fell asleep on Sweet Spy 5 times (while watching 2 different eps), December Fever, ISWAK(J&Tversions) and watched one full ep of Gourmet, New Heart and Snowman. Now to clarify only the first two were done tonight, the others rather recently. New Heart I actually want to finish but I'm afraid I might have to skip around like I did with QOH (1 to 5, 7 to 12, 14 to 20)which I hate to do. For Snowman, I'm going to watch the last ep and be done with it.

The shows I've completed from summer till now would be Slingshot, What Planet (Star) Are You From, Partner, The Man Who Can't Marry, Air City, HIT, 9E2O, Attic Cat, That Fool, City Hall, Triple and La Dolce Vita then Couple or Trouble and Hong Gil Dong(both rewatches). And I actually finished Love Marriage(somewhere around ep 9 I stopped and only read DB recaps). Think that's it.

I'm currently reading Lady Castle recaps (just like that title better) and watching(or should be) ep 3 of Damo, 27 of Meteor Shower, 12 Swallow the Sun and 13 Insoon is Pretty. Honestly, I'm enjoying all those except Insoon. I really don't like any of the other characters except for Lee Wan's character which my Kdrama buddy and I have pinned "Burgundy." At the moment, I'm just not in the mood to watch any of these, Swallow I'm waiting on subs and MS is at that irritating stage where Duan Mu Lei is about to get an ink pin stuck in his throat. Plus the quality at viikii isn't the best. And as for Damo DF never plays an ep in its entirety for me; its constantly buffering.

Al little more than you asked for, I know but now you know...

@lovenyc52- are you sure we never bumped into each other ?? My god, we go to the same hangouts! Ding Tai Fung- my sisters from SF even make it a point to go there- even with that god awful loooong line. And yes, it's goood. Definitely have to take langdon813 there when she makes it out here.

@ ockoala and @lovenyc52 Thai Nakorn is a great little thai restaurant in Garden Grove. Due to unknown reason(to me) it was burned down about 3, 5 years ago, Their loyal customers were very upset until a year later, they opened a branch in Stanton. The original Thai Nakorn is on Garden Grove Blvd, betwn Harbour and Haster, across the street of the GG Hospital. If you like authentic Thai food, I would highly recommend this place.( The approx. direction is provided by my personal GPS, Mr Cingdoc).

Life Plaza- I have 2 teenage girls so I have spent a good part of their future college funds there. And darn that points system that they have; it seems like every time I use them, the cashier always informs me"it's expired!" story of my life.

Sorry to every one else, didn't mean to "hog" OT and only chat with fellow So Cal.

@langdon 813 I'm back with ROI (epi #5) I think I like JIW here more than MFL.although I'm getting hooked on MFL now. Tamra Island- maybe I will start this one ....soon.

@ 170 Nea

Haha, that's a whole lot of dramas you've seen this year! May I know if you've just started watching K-dramas only recently? If yes, which is your favorite genre? Comedy, melodrama, mystery?

If you're into comedy, try Capital Scandal or Dal Ja's Spring. If you're into melodrama, I'm Sorry I Love You/MISA, Thank You, Sang Doo Let's Go to School. Mystery, ermm.... Resurrection, Mawang or ermm.. H.I.T? And if you love City Hall, must watch On Air and the Lovers Trilogy,

Maybe you can give Gourmet another try? I actually liked that drama..hehehe..

@ Mr and Mrs Samsooki

Congratulations! It is wonderful to hear that baby Samsooki is on the way. Kids do complete our lives and parenthood is probably the most complex and layered full-time job in this world but the most worthwhile. Take care :D

@ bimbap is all about the rice - can't agree more on this. Thanks for the tips on the rice combination. Any suggestion for the seasoning (eg portion of vinegar etc). And I'll try the recommendation on seasame oil!

@ Ockoala - Beautiful Days does have its problems. It is a bit schizo as if we are seeing two stories. Spoilers ahead if you haven't finished

The reason being it was planned as a reunion drama of CJW and RSW who had been together in a very successful drama before BD. The original idea was for RSW to get the girl but this was all changed courtesy to the spell LBH cast on the audience. The storyline was all changed due to the great Mr Lee. The way RSW accepted the change in a dignified way was still talked about to this day, notably (rightly or wrongly) in comparison with LDH's withdrawal from EoE.

The LBH movie that I'd recommend apart from those mentioned above is A Bittersweet Life. It is his ' A Better Tomorrow'.

@ hjkomo
It didn't hit me until the last OT that I realised you're the "fashion critic" at the Job Well Done thread. Better late than never - just to let you know I enjoy your 'fashion wite up' after each episode...that is, until I dropped that drama after 17 or 18 episodes.

Everyone has a nice weekend, especially you JB!

@nea
I missed the 400 posts for OT#100 too due to 80 hours of work last week...what a bummer. And i was planning to follow OT#101 more closely but alas, the internet connection failed me....argh!

Anyhow, apologizing in advance for this very long post....

1 litre of tears....i love this drama. I cried litres of course and will probably not watch it again because of that...I was emotionally drained after.

I feel the music/drama industry in Korea is unforgiving and unrelistic (like someone had mentioned). Humans make mistakes and to think their idols are going to be forever perfect - are they out of their mind?? Anyhow, I feel bad for those guys who work so hard to protect that perfect image. You need to live your life too. Their management are definitely to be blame too. I wonder if they can cut management out of it and manage everything themselves. Does anyone know?

@lb_tmi
Like you, Samsooki was also the one who brought me out of the lurking mode to response to his very insightful persectives.

@Samsooki and Mrs. Samsooki
Congrats on the new baby. It's an incredible experience and we look forward to stories about baby samsooki.

@Dele
Happy Birthday....so young! Sometimes, I wish I was at that age.

Whoa! This is certainly another celebratory OT. Congrats, Mr and Mrs Samsooki!
All this while, when Samsooki provided visuals of his Temptation of Wife drama watch, shielding wifey from the flashing screen, I was already picturing a pregnant Mrs Samsooki.....sleeping.

Whatever his real name is going to be, on this blog, he'll always be L'il Binnie to his noonas and hyungs here. It just sounds so right. Hmmm.....L'il Gookie?

@ OT100 #388 ockoala,

"Good luck with caring for your parents, perhaps they may enjoy watching some sweet k-dramas with you? Regardless, I’m on the slow boat to Tamra myself (must have patience, must hold on and not succumb to all the Tamra random-CH comparisons my langdon-unni keeps throwing out there to tempt me), so we can be the late-comers to the Tamra party together."

Dad's favorite past time is and was reading his newspapers. But his eyesight is failing him so listening to his favorite singers such as Teresa Teng and Cai Qin keeps him very happy. Though I would have to up the volume because he is also hard of hearing.

Mum is already a kdrama ADA since the late 90s. In those days, my reaction to kdramas and tdramas then was just like ockoala hubby's reaction now. I've only started watching kdrama seriously late last year. Thanks to mum, I'm a very picky drama watcher. Mum's favorite dramas are those usually laden with cliches. Her all time favorite cliche is the existence of THE evil mother-in-law. To her, without this "outlaw", kdrama is not a kdrama. Since we have decided to have only ONE TV in the house, mum gets to hog and watch all those dramas that she likes....which I don't like.

In the last thread, you and belleza reminded me why I loved Stairways to Heaven. To date, I think it's the only drama mum and I watched together. Both of us literally shared the same box of kleenex....hers were tears of unusual sadness; mine were unusual tears of laughter. Great mother and daughter bonding though. :-)

Incidentally, the English title for Tamra/Tamna Island is Tempted Again. Haha!
You're ON! We'll watch this one together. When you have the DVD set, let me know and we'll rave/rant/squee/gripe together.

@153 lovenyc52- yeah..you and me can stare at Im Ju Hwan all day.... <3
also thanks explaining to me about the posting errors. I will be more patient so that I will not double post.

@160 reluctantbutaddicted- I am glad that I have found someone who actually knows about N & S. Richard Armintage is just great eye candy. OMG..that last scene- wasn't that the best "kiss" scene in all of the BBC drama history?
Some people were like "People in that time period wouldn't have behaved that way" and I am like "My goodness, it just a movie- get over it." Sorry- just had to get that rant out.
And really sorry to hear of your bad experience from watching N &S. I had that happen to me twice with my dvd player- but with "the OC" dvd. So I guess you and me just about had it with our laptop and dvd drives.

@172 ockoloa- your response to ripgal comments on Takenouch Yutaka is spot on. That man just oozes sexiness. I have seen him in Boss and Tomorrow. He is very good in dramatic roles, but recently in Boss- he can also do comedy too- what a surprise. But the film that really capture my attention is Heaven's Coins.
That was like his first breakthrough role. I mean, that drama was like from 1995, but you can still see how much acting potential that he has. I mean the man can steal the scene by screaming at a blind girl- and suddenly you wish you were that blind girl. I would not recommend anyone watching Heaven's Coins since it's from a long time ago (the clothes are hideous) and the plot drags too much. But if you are a fan of Takenouchi Yutaka- do watch to see how he got his start in acting.

About LBH- I loved him in BD. When ever his eyes would stare at CJW's character- it really sends shivers down my spine (in a good way). I have also watch All In too. Now this is a LBH drama that I am not a fan of. The story drags too much and I don't really like the pairing of him and SHG. Also, I did not like Ji Sung in there, his character was annoying for following SHG all the time.
But just recently, I discovered New Heart, and I suddenly like him. His character in NH is just perfect for him.

@188 epyc- I didn't know that the storyline of BD was changed because of LBH. Thanks for letting us know such a cool trivia. Well, that was really what propelled LBH's popularity in dramas, and I am glad. Watching BD, I have never been a fan of the RSW and CJW. But RSW was really nice to accept that change.
I have also seen LBH's A Bittersweet Life. Great story and acting, but really too much violence. Probably his best movie role, but I still have not seen "The good, the bad, and The weird" yet.- and then his villainous role in "I come with the rain" and then IRIS- LBH has been keeping busy.

@190 omo- It was so sweet to know that you and your mom watched Stairway to Heaven together. From hearing your mom's preference in watching korean dramas- and what she likes the most is the evil mother in law- I would recommend watching Temptation of Wife. Although the mother in law in there is not like those "evil- killing, stealing husband" kind, but Temptation of WIfe does have it fair share of evil people. I don't recommend TOW as something that is earth shatering in acting, or quality wise- but TOW is a good fix for when you want to watch a good vs. evil drama. The situations and plot in TOW is sooooo OVER THE TOP and IMPOSSIBLE that you can't help but get a good laugh from the tv screen.
The only kdrama that I got to finish with my mom is "DJG/ Jewel in the Palace." Both me and my mom really like that and I can't believe we've spent all that time watching all 54 episodes.- as you said "great mother and daughter bonding time". Also my mom is a picky watcher too, usually we have the same taste in watching dramas- but recently she has been too busy with work- that we really couldn't finish watching any dramas together. The last drama that we've had attempted to watch together is "EOE" and that was just a waste of time- but now we've discovered the talents of Kim Bum. maybe not just a waste of time after all.
Okay, sorry for such a long speech about mom, and what not. But the agony of waiting to another episode of Tamra Island is beginning to drain the life out of me. hee hee ... ^_^

@lovenyc52
I loved horikita maki ever since she did Hana Kimi. Wooyoung is my fave among the 2PM boys.

@ gracefulmoonie
I'm a huge fan of Bones too! I just loved the chemistry between Temperance and Booth. If you're up for a light, no-brainer TV time, then give "Glee" a try. I guess because I am a frustrated singer so I always have an affinity for music-related shows and movies.Six years of singing lessons with nothing to show for it (Sorry Mom, I tried).

@Everyone
What are you all guys planning for the weekend?

I don't think my fangirling over SuJu would end anytime soon. I'm waiting for them to announce the sched for the Malaysia leg of their Super Show II tour.

@193 itsjustme,
When I have time, I might give "Glee" a try. I saw two promotions on tv and it seem like a pretty good show. It's just that I have other shows on my watch list, and two shows that I absolutely have to watch are shown on the same day-Bones and Fringe. Fox, what is up with them rearranging the schedule all the time?
Also, you don't have to be too down about your singing career. I have a sister, who in my opinon, is a terrific singer (sometimes I am jealous of her skills and plus she is the "social" one in my family), but hey- be proud of your skills, and don't worry about disappointing your mother- everyone has different talents when it comes to singing. In my opinons, some local singers in my church choir have more talent than some pro singers.

@gracefulmoonie

Thanks for the vote of confidence! =)

Yeah give it a try..I usually watch stuff online so I get to catch up with all my must-watch shows instead of following their TV scheds since one show is always in conflict with another.

I love, love, love North and South too!! OMO, Richard Armitage redefines the brooding victorian hero. And yes the kissing scene at the train station is the best ending ever! By saying that I also love Pride and Prejudice, both the BBC series version and the 2005 (2006?) movie version. I think Richard Armitage would make a great Mr. Darcy too!
