Aloha Kakahiaka on a Thursday morning! To all my OT buddies....ahjussis and ahjummas.....

Just want to let you know that my doctor appointment yesterday was a big relief. There's NO nerve damage in my left leg/foot so I won't have to endure surgery! Wooohooo!!!!!!! I am so happy!!!!! However, I will continue to hobble along until the nerves are repaired and healed (naturally) and I was told it will take at least 2 years. My right leg/foot is pretty much back to normal.

What happened in Sept.......I went through by-pass surgery and when vein harvester tried to take a vein from back of my left knee, it caused a hematoma (bleeding outside of the blood vessel). That left side was completely numb after surgery and now it's about 75% better with that prickly feeling.

This has been a lesson in patience. I will continue to learn it well.

Mahalo, Kamsamida....Salamat po, Muchas gracias, Domo arigato, to all of you for your thoughts and friendship and thank goodness for drama on the internet!!! :-)

I love you all!

*************Bad Guy 3 SPOILERS**********
I'd fully embraced this drama as a frostbitten melo, with smatterings of noir but what I didn't expect was for it to make me so happy, as happy as most of episode 3 made me.
Before I knew it my heart had become a little happy, shiny, floaty glowball.
Jae In (HGI) emanates such warmth, without her having to be angelic or matronly and she still fits into the drama. It's all in her Bugs Bunny teeth, big, dopey eyes and noona sassiness.
And KNG? He goes without saying, duh.

There are plenty of telltale signs here of BG being by the MiSA director, he makes the mundane so endearing.
Also, as with all SBS dramas I've seen, this episode has a 'laugh-at-itself' moment in it, in spite of the dark feel of the show. (Even Giant had a couple of those recently.)

Your totally scaring me. Should I be scared? it sounds like Hyun Bin is really immersed in his character. Never saw the movie btw even though its a classic. Should I watch the movie first for comparison or just watch drama?

@Mookie--have not seen CU 19 yet but I've it downloaded it last night so I can watch tonight. Can't wait!

Good to hear that you're recovering well. Nerve damage takes time to heal (my Mom is still recovering from back surgery(Jan 2010)). Just be patient, watch lots of drama(hehe)....come to think of it, that's what got me started last June(watching kdrama(MNIKSS)while convalescing. Yeah, we should patent this" Kdrama watching is the best medicine" ;)

Yes, you should be scared...but don't let that stop you from watching! It's absolutely gut wrenching, and absolutely brilliant. You will be blown away. And after you slowly pick yourself up off the floor (especially after Ep 19, which is OMFG-awesome) and come back to your senses, you'll be furious at how such a performance could have possibly been overlooked at award season. It's staggering, really. You won't look at Hyun Bin in the same way ever again. Who can blame him for wanting to steer clear of rom-coms when he's capable of THAT?

I watched the drama first, then the movie. I was so glad I did it that way. The movie was very good, but I thought the drama was much much much better.

Oh, it would be delightful if you can join our FOL 2010 watch. I'm up to ep.4, and serendipity and hjkomo should be right around the same spot. You can catch up in no time.

I am salivating as the discussion to come with you guys about this drama. Hyun Bin's becoming his character is Christian Bale in American Psycho-esque. He put on some pounds, lowered his voice, and transformed into Dong-soo.

Hmmm, looks like Spain beat S. Korea 1-0 in a friendly warmup. But S. Korea's defense looked pretty darned good. OTOH Italy cut Rossi from the final lineup, which is a bummer. And ALAS! Looks like Mexico owned the Azzurri, although the score was 2-1 Mexico definitely looked better. Hopefully it was a shake down for the Azzurri - which after the cuts looks a little older than most of the other squads. But experienced.....

Oh, and Jeon Woochi the Taoist Wizard is a funny movie. 8-)

CU is coming to an end and I was thinking of picking up Coffee House but perhaps I'll do FOL instead. Or maybe I'll do both if FOL is very serious.

I know he can act but I don't think I ever thought of HB as Christian Bale scary. HB has always been a a bit of hearthrob due to the roles he has played and I'm not sure I can handle HB 2.0 or maybe I'll just be blown to smithereens by the change. I feel like HB is going the way of Johhny Depp. We may never see him in another rom-com but perhaps he'll do a keith richards impersonation in a historical film.

O man...
I'm seconding EVERY word/syllable/letter Langdon has written on FOL/HB
I did not for any single second of FOL fangirl binnie, and this is monumental in proportion coming fr me. He's not recognizable. I didnt know he has THIS in him.

I watched the movie before the drama... and tbh I dont think the order matters because I still think the drama is better than the movie even though they r telling essentially the same story, w/ scenes that r virtually identical. watching the movie first do let me 'earn' the enjoyment fr a movie well done....yet it did not diminish how much I can appreciate the drama. I do think after watching the drama, the movie will lost its luster in comparison.

I still havent watched CU19, 20 and cant till the wkend... but um... I've heard things... I wont say anything more since I've only watch the ending minute of 19....and looping its BTS but give me kind warnings w/o too much spoilers (I dunno if I can handle them if they will depress me)... my heart and sanity is VERY fragile these days. If the CU watchers r in consensus of CU20=blergh, but 19 is terrific, I will happily stop at 19 and call it a good run.

@eiko & cingdoc
I remember watching Attic Cat while I was poorly and Kim Rae Won was the best cure, ever!
(He's what got me into kdrama, before that I found it too laborious and preferred kfilm.) I didn't even care about the lack of story and that it got repetitive. I can still sit and watch Jung Da Bin and Kim Rae Won all day long; peeling garlic as they sit on a rooftop table on a warm, balmy afternoon whilst shooting deathrays at each other.

@Bad Guy
Curse SBS, as if they haven't screwed around with the show enough. We were robbed of not only one episode this week, but they've shortened the show's original length - from 20 down to 19 episodes because of it. And for the week after next there'll be no episodes. I'm sure this is just the start of SBS's tyranny against Bidam.

Giant:
Sorry I'm on a roll and since it's an extremely quiet work day... *whistles* I'm doing some random Giant research. This show pretty much consumes my week, Weds-Thurs are strictly Bad Guy mode but the rest of week is dedicated to the big G.
I just found out the finale will be aired alongside a special on Oct 24th, on the Sunday following episodes 48-49.
I also came across a very innocent looking bit of text which came across like a brief synopsis, but damn it! In Thundie's review, when she said there are synopses flying around containing enough spoilers for another 40 episodes or so -- she was so right! **Beware of them, they are LETHAL!!**
Luckily I quickly closed the window before I could read much of it. Spoilers really bloody spoil - everything for me. (And I will be mindful in future when I'm going all spoileriffic on OT myself.)

But trying to see the positive in this little accidental (really tiny, miniscule) sneak peek, if anything, since it seems everything has already been pre-written it hopefully means there will be no mad rushing. That the writing will remain tight and not lose its direction by suddenly going all erratic (*cough*EoE*cough*).
And I think we can pretty much take the show for face value, when it says epic, it means epic = expect copious amounts of tragedy.
Still, this n00b writer Jang Young-chul had better not be too much of a masochist, there's only so much a die-hard romanticist like me can handle.

Since it seems Jung Bo-suk is turning in the performance of a lifetime in Giant I'm going to check him out in Kyungsook's father this weekend. Also marathoning some Surgeon Bong Dal-hee for Lee Bum-soo, who's doing equally great.

It's a relief to know you're OK! Take care and happy drama watching.

@ supah

How far are you into Surgeon Bong Dal-hee which is really a gem? Lee Bum-soo's Dr Ahn is the biggest attraction there.

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!

To my buddy Supah.....my first glimpse of a drama actor was Park Shi-hoo in Family's Honor! I got curious about the korean station and FH was playing at the time and I fell in love with PSH!!! hehehehehe.....then right after that it was Terrior...and the rest is history!

Well.....Viikii posted notice on MCC.....license pending. Waaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!

I'm checking Good Day For Wind.....it's tudou and no english sub....but I'm having a good time just looking at the male and female leads in their scenes. Female who was in BBF is really good in AGDFWTB.....cute and bubbly personality.

I'm avoiding some of the dramas right now to keep from getting stressed....just need to stay lalaland for a while and laugh and enjoy non-mental dramas. Says a lot , huh?

Heyy chick!!

Wow! No wonder you were so loyal to Team In-woo then, heheh!
Park Shi-hoo was your first kdrama crush! Not bad, but he still can't top K! R! W! Haaaah!!

Glad to know you're enjoying your fave dramas.
I agree, Kim So Eun from Windy Day is adorable and was probably the best thing about BBF.

I've no idea where V is, she's disappeared...

Let's continue our convo on #138....
