Jang Geun-seok wraps up Asian tour in Japan

Since March, Jang Geun-seok has been busy traveling on his Asian tour, which has taken him to Taiwan, Beijing, and Singapore. Last but not least, he headed to Japan for May 29 and 30 fanmeetings in Tokyo and Osaka, which is where the photos below come from.

Both events drew approximately 2,000 fans, and there was such a rush to buy tickets that fans had requested a larger venue. Alas, venue issues prevented that from happening and the two events took place at the Gotanda Yuport Hall in Tokyo and Universal Studios Japan in Osaka.

With the Asian tour now over, Jang will turn back to acting. Following his extremely popular turn in last year’s You’re Beautiful, Jang will next appear in the remake (movie, not drama series) of Japan’s Kimi wa Petto, or You’re My Pet. A female lead has not yet been cast, but the most recent reports named Han Ye-seul as a possible choice.

Pig - Rabbit!!! So cute... Now on to JGS, i liked the clothes but the hair has gotta go after he films KWP. I think he's a method actor type, once he gets into a role, he immerses himself in it, the way he dress, his appearance and manners. you got to give him props for that since it works. i adored him in Prague, cried buckets with him in Hwang jini, made me love KGW in BV and of course, made me cringe, laugh, cry and feel a lot of emotions in YB. I think playing HTK in YB brought him to another level because i had trouble separating HTK and JGS in my mind. if not for the parodies and BTS which showed his true self (flirty, dorky, hamming it up for the cameras), i would have honestly believed that HTK was and is real.

Ah! that's why... I'm living in Osaka right now and I saw him in a store downtown. He passed really close to me a couple times but although I'd have talked to him I didn't I'm never been that kind of fan, my friends don't forgive me about that, they wanted a picture of him hehehe I'm just fine knowing that I was soooo closed to him, He's better that I except it, he's really pretty baby face and extremetly skinny (even more than in tv). His hair was up in a bun, he looked so much better than in the picture.
He was keeping very low profile at that time, nobody was there (no fans or people around him) only two assistants, a interpreter and a cameraman, I was so surprise to find him there, he made my day :D Now I'm a fan (ok, more fan than before).

@50: you missunderstood what I meant.
I mean because of the computer's generation making a portion of the youth nowadays turn to computer addicts. I read somewhere long time a go about a social survey around the world, they said many teenagers became computer addicts, spending at least 8-10 hours everyday on the computers. They don't have social actitivites outside the house.
Thus I blame Unisex trend start from there, I mean teen age boys staying into the rooms most of the time , no adventure , they gradually turn into sissy peronalities
, they think girl clothes will be fine and pretty to wear, they welcome the Unisex trend
I just say only a portion of the youth , not all of the youth like Unisex style though, only a portion .

JGS reminds me of Filipino actor Rustom Padilla. Padilla is also handsome, fair-complexioned, slim and gives off the feminine vibes like JGS. During the early part of his acting career he was hounded with rumors of being a homo which he denied vehemently, even married a fellow actress. Then all of a sudden his wife filed for an annulment of their marriage. And then a coupla years ago he revealed that he's a homo after all. Now he's an X-MAN (used to be a man, but is now a girl)!

Some of JGS's fashion choices are weird, but so what? I'm his fan because of his acting ability, not because of his dress style. I don't think he's limiting his fan base, because I think he gains fans through his acting work, not through what shirt he wears to a fan meeting. And actually, good for him that he's confident enough to wear what he wants -- it takes guts to follow the beat of your own drummer. Personally, I'm just happy that he'll be back at work soon.

these posts are cracking me up. What does it matter if he is transgender, transvestite, gay, bi or metrosexual. People shouldn't be upset because he doesn't fit your construct of a man. Would he be sexier to me if he wore plain tee shirt and jeans, cut his hair and wore less eye makeup? sure but that is my own preference for a guy and I'm not him. I certainly wouldn't like it if someone told me to lose 10 lbs, wear a tight fitting dress, and grow my hair out so I can look more girly and therefore more attractive to them.

I may not always like his style choices but I defend and applaud his right to wear whatever the hell he wants.

I agree... same with me... what I admired him a lot aside from his great acting is his being honest to show, what he would like to show. It takes a person with real confidence to himself or herself to show to the world with this bearing " This is who I am... take it or leave it " , rather than showing the best foot forward.

When you are a celebrity, you have an image to maintain and you should make sure that image is steady. Everyone might be clinging to this "it's the inside that counts" idea, but unfortunately, people do judge from appearances. People will judge by looks and will compare to what they find attractive. It's just the way it works with idols.

And unfortunately, not everyone admires him just for his acting skills. He's a very talented man and I know he has many fans that do love him for his acting. I personally will love him even if he dresses up as Jason Vorhees. As long as he gives me good works. Thing is, it's not just the acting that counts, but the time in-between jobs. When you see someone change style so often, you can't help but think they change their mind easily and can't focus on one thing. So then it gets you thinking "What if he stops being so interested in his acting? What if he starts doing bad works?". Sure, you'll be proved wrong, if he works well, but an actor should earn the trust and admiration of his fans at all times.

As a professional, he should be very concerned about what kind of person he's projecting himself to be. He chose to be in a profession that brings fame and he knows people will look and judge. Having fans expressing opinions on an idol's style comes with the job.

He can be gay, bi, an elf, whatever and he has a right to.That's not the point. The point is what he wants to look like in public. In his own time, he can wear what he wants, but when actors dress up for public appearances, they're dressing up for the people. In a sense, they are acting on a stage. So yes, when public appearances are concerned, I want a style that says sure, firm and confident on his talent and skills. If he really is confident on his talent and skills. And this doesn't go to Keun Suk alone, but to whoever makes those decisions as well.

If he really does love this style, good on him, but what I'm afraid of and would not respect is if he did it to please a certain group of fans. It's a bold fashion statement so he should accept what comes with it. He brought it on himself in the first place. Some actors choose not to flaunt their looks and rely on getting fans based on their skills. They might become heartthrobs, but they don't act/behave based on that. He, however has been using his good looks to his best advantage and it's fine that he does that, but when he's all "Look at me, my loyal fans" then he's getting what he asked for. That doesn't mean everyone will love that though.

There are countless of child/young actors who were very talented, but got famous by riding the "heartthrob wave" and when they weren't "in" anymore, were forgotten and left behind.

You can blame me and call me a b*tch all you want. I love his acting and think he's a very talented young man with a bright future. If not wanting him to end up having a short-lived, heartthrob career and being branded as just another teen idol is bad, then I'm proud to be this evil.

"I can’t, as a straight woman, find a man attractive that is wearing things that belong to women. "
" Charm in women and men is different. He’s “acting sexy” as a woman would and it just makes it very disturbing."
"Because in western countries, only gay men would dress like that. "

Aren't you sprinkling a lot of your personal judgments and making generalities about what you consider masculine norms which is what negates your argument. You can say western world sees him as gay by the way he is dressed but I see plenty of young guys these days out on the street and especially in music like Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel who bends the gender look and Bill doesn't seem to suffer from a shortage of female followers.

JGS has always been a bit fashion forward so I doubt its just his coordi or stylist fault. I get the sense from his past red carpet appearances that he loves clothes and likes experimenting with clothes. He isn't running for office for god's sake. He is a young actor and I think he could be cut some slack if he wants to have some fashion fun and not jump to the conclusion that he will suffer in his career due to the way he dresses because he looks gay.

"Fashion forward"? Hm, if it's indeed fashion forward, so I would love him more if he went backward. Really.
Unisex fashion?? Guys wearing their girlfriends clothes? Few years ago this was only reserved for transvestites, but now as I see it, it's getting an official approvement as a fashion. I've been following (so-so) his career ever since Beethoven Virus. I just loved him in BV, but then YAB came and I saw not this handsome mature man, but a girl speaking with nice tenor.
I wonder if he wants to be considered as a solid actor with strong capabilities, he needs to answer one simple question: Who am I gonna please? The group of fanfic girls who squeal over a guy looking more feminine than they? Or just serious movie/drama audience who loved him for his acting skills, not for experiments with clothes?
I'm in the second group. I supported him all the way, but this is simply beyond my strength. I really do hope he will get over it and return to BV look again.

I think JGS is handling his career choices pretty well, actually. He's consistently looking for roles that he can explore, that challenge him, that give him something new to do, and that allow him to work with talented actors, writers and directors. As long as he does that and continues to grow as an actor, I don't think he needs to worry about having a short-lived career due to his fashion choices when not working. The way he dresses is not stopping the movie, drama and CF offers from rolling in, apparently -- his image seems to doing just fine.

Oh, he's doing great with his role choices, that's a fact. Fact is, I loved most of his works and he really seems to have gotten it right so far. But with fame and popularity comes corruption and loss of focus too. The point is, his recent turn to please all these starstruck fans has people afraid that he's loosing focus.

And he will be getting roles, but if he's established as an idol for the girlies, will he get serious respectable roles later on? I mean, let's look at Hollywood. You want to make a serious movie with a good cast. Will you choose i.e Jake Gyllenhaal for a part who has established himself as a good actor, or will you choose Zack Efron for it who's gotten famous by how many girls go gaga over him? Who do people take more seriously as a professional? Gyllenhaal or Efron? And which one will get more strong, better paying parts? Sure, many start off as heartthrobs and then become more respectable, but it's not only because they have talent, they also work hard for it. They dress for the job they want and get it.

Hubby's Computer, the difference between let's say Tokio Hotel and him is that Tokio Hotel is a band and a pop/rock band. It's normal for rockers or nerds or otaku's to dress funny. They are like costumes that go with the style of the band and they make their own music so it doesn't affect the gig offers they get. The music world is different. There is also a big difference between emo or punk and dressing like a girly female.

And it's not the fashion sense itself that worries some fans like me. Sure he can play around a bit, he's young, like you said. But if it remains for long, it can affect his career and the way people and film/series makers see him. It's also the type of feminine style that's worrying. It's something a very specific type of obsessed fangirls usually likes so how can I trust an actor who is changing his entire style to fit the needs an immature and brainless group of young shallow women has? If he changes his entire image for them, who's to tell me he won't start making shallow and eye-candy filled movies with no substance because those are the kind of things this group of fans like to see?

An actor should try and be a role-model ALL his fans can admire, not just the ones that want to "marry him and have his babies" and other creepy hormonal outbursts like that.

One doesn't have to "run for office" to appear professional and together. It's especially important for a type of work like acting, that is a form of art which relies on good choices, that the actor shows a mature, professional and inspiring persona to the people. No one likes someone who dresses and behaves like a diva. Humility shows a person who loves what he does, not the attention he's getting because of it. He can be stylish and still please all his fans and look proper.

Go more unisex, go emo or punk, all those are ok, but dressing up the way conceited and shallow women dress in the West, will only make people who hate that sort of skinny, shallow and flashy trend there, feel negatively biased towards you.

These aren't my personal judgements at all. This IS what western society thinks about "cutesy" girly looks. It might be a normal thing in East Asia, but not in the rest of the world. Always speaking about this girly girl look here, not emo or punk or rock.

"The way he dresses is not stopping the movie, drama and CF offers from rolling in, apparently — his image seems to doing just fine." by Jay.
Yes, it won;t but the offers will be more or less similar to YAB, you know, idol thing, bling bling things (what's up with this shoe with wings he had once on his neck??), teenage angst and make-up.
This way entertainment won't let him grow. And he needs to grow in order to be more prepared for his next roles, more serious I hope.

Orion:"Go more unisex, go emo or punk, all those are ok, but dressing up the way conceited and shallow women dress in the West, will only make people who hate that sort of skinny, shallow and flashy trend there, feel negatively biased towards you.

WOW... people have a lot to say on other people´s fashion...I really don´t get what it is that got people to make rants on JGS´s fashion...

All I see in these pictures is a guy with longish hair in a suit... and then a guy in ripped jeans... yeah, because that just SCREAMS girly...

As a girl who likes to look trendy, I would never consider JGS clothes fit to be worn by a girl, so I don´t get the whole unisex convo/discussion. Any girl that wears his type of clothes would look manly... and then that would start a whole other discussion about women looking like men to attract attention etc, etc.

So what if he´s wearing long hair, I think it´s gorgeous hair, and while I´d prefer if he tied it back, he doesn´t and I still can´t picture him as a girl.

Minnetter, we're not talking about these pictures here in dramabeans. The style in these is very nice and very manly and the hair is just fine. If you'd seen what I've seen, trust me, you'd understand just what we're talking about here.

I'm making these comments having seen him in many awful and girly clothes, including dresses with tight pants and wearing long earrings you only see on sophisticated ladies in dinner parties. And about his body language, whatever those pictures (the one's I've seen) didn't show me about it, I saw in the Magic Drag video for Samsung. There's nothing manly about his body language there.

I do see how people will think I'm over-reacting if they assume I'm talking about these pictures here, but trust me, he's a manly man in these compared to others I've seen from his events and fan meetings lately.

How does anyone know why JGS is dressing the way he's dressing? He seems to have a long history of making "unique" fashion choices that pre-dates YaB. Honestly, I think he just likes to play around with his look. I don't think he dresses the way he does to please anyone but himself.

As for how to know whether or not JGS will make good choices in his acting career, I think the choices he's made so far are a much better indicator of his career direction then the clothes he wears. But truly, the way we'll know about his future performances? Is when we see his future performances.

I really miss manly JKS.
@Orion, I knew what the dresses you mentioned. I was shock when I saw what's he wore in Japan FM, especially the white long sleeves lace blouse. I don't' think that most asian girls like men to dress and act faminine in public, except for some acting in TV shows.

I wonder that JKS checked other websites that commented about his current look accept his OFC. It's OK to make mistake for choosing bad wardrobes, but not with weird feminine feeling dresses. I hope after he's done with 'You're My Pet'. He'll be back to be handsome, not pretty and put more weights.

I saw his newest Garden 5 CF with Park Shin Hye, he 's so skinny that made our beloved PSH big. Not mention that he 's almost prettier than PSH. T T

i'm so laughing out loud.. Orion, are you gay phobic or something?
It seems like you are very adamant that JGS has to follow your piece of advice or that he has to follow your so called "western taste".

If you have seen the real person, he is far from feminine. You like his style in BV, other fans like his style now.... so? You call him "princess", we call him Prince. You are very good at judging other people though. If you really don't like his style now and insist that the looks in BV is the one that is acceptable, you are always welcome not to be his fans. Actually I don't like his looks in BV (hmm.. gosh maybe I'm gay or bi???)

Of course I'm sure you probably also know that he is preparing for a male dancer who excels in ballet. Have you seen what they look like? No?

wow... the balloons from the japan fm never fails to amaze me. how did they think about that? it looks very nice from the stage. :D

read about the comments regarding jks' fashion lately. a lot of haters, i see...
about the hair and the weight - ITS FOR THE MOVIE... get over it. would you rather watch him wear a very fake wig in You're My Pet when Momo's hair is a trademark? and have you seen a chubby ballerina? nobody criticized tom hanks when he lost weight for cast away, or when demi moore had to be semi-bald for gi jane... so stop complaining about those.

also about his so-called "femininity", as a former ballerina i can see that he is not feminine at all... he is GRACEFUL and POISED, just like a true ballerina. and again (i cant say it enough) ITS FOR THE MOVIE. >.< this is exactly what makes movies good - when the characters morph INTO the role rather than just protraying it. if you've seen JKS' previous movies, he is not feminine at all. Watch Baby & Me again if you're missing my point...

Lalluna, it always surprises me how easily one is branded as homophobic even when he/she says nothing against gays. Not to mention how it amazes me that people choose personal attacks against people who have made none and are just epxressing their opinion. If branding me a homophobe makes you feel aaaall better about the fact that the Western world would view/views Keun Suk's wardrobe as bordering female, fine. Whatever you need to make you feel better.

Fact is, two of the nicest people I've known in my life are gay men and I call both of them friends. And neither dresses as a woman. But as you say, I have to be a homophobic person cause there's simply no other explanation as to why I'd be bothered by KS's perfect awesomness and style which is feminine, not gay. Unfortunately, not all western people can make that distinction.

And I'm sorry to burst another bubble, but have you seen actual real-life male ballet dancers? Cause they are some of the most well-built men out there. Do a little search on Carlos Acosta i.e and tell me he's feminine, skinny and weak looking. Cause every male ballet dancer I've seen has an amazing and masculine body just like him.

Of course, if whoever is making the movie is trying to turn him into a female ballet dancer, that explains a lot. I do agree that actors can do a better job by immersing themselves into a part, as Choc says and i.e I loved what Kim Myung Min did with "Closer to Heaven" cause it was realistic. But if Keun Suk really is being over the top lately for the role, he must have been terribly misinformed or then the movie makers simply don't want to portray a real male ballet dancer in the movie. It's the only reason why a man would dress like a cute girl to prepare for a male ballet dancer role.

And Choc, who here said we have a problem with the hair for the movie? We might not like it as a permanent choice, but it's for the movie and it needs to be long.

Also, if having seen almost every work of his I can get my hands on, liking him since 2006 and admiring his skills and talent makes me a hater, well, I'd love to see a true fan then.

A fan isn't someone who loves everything about an idol, no matter what. A fan is someone who wants to see their idol progress and develop, even if that means calling said idol on their mistakes or things that are worrying. I see a talented young man who can be great and I don't want his odd choices or portion of his fanbase to stop him from getting there. He's free to choose and do what he likes, but if he does love acting, some of his choices can harm him. If I'm being so bad because I don't want him to make mistakes that might ruin his possible dream, then very very bad I am indeed.

I'm sure his style will change after the movie, but that doesn't mean it never happened. What does it say about him and/or the makers of the film and the quality of the work if they dress him up as a girl for a role that is anything but girly? Or should be anything but girly, at least.

At least if it's something the makers asked him to do, other serious film-makers won't hold it against him in the future. Still, he's been doing crazy stuff for a while so I'm not 100% sure it's for the part. I will wait and see, but that doesn't mean I don't have a right to worry and express it.

Expressing one's personal opinions is not hating, come on.
We have the right to judge him by appearance, because, you know, I don't dinner with him every Saturday evening to know what he thinks. I judge him based on the interviews I read or watch, and based on his behavior. It always works like this. We judge our idols like this. Sometimes it just getting worse. Every fan, emotional fan (like girls in puberty), but not exclusively, has one's own image of the idol. Image based, most likely, on some character this idol played. So, those fans want for them to stay in this state forever (that is, as Orion mentioned: untill they find a new one). Every slant from this so established "norm" in their eyes is a blasphemy. Every one speaking about their idol other than :"KYYYAAAA" is a blasphemous bastard deserved to shut up and die with painful death.

And those pics Orion talked about: the China fanmeeting. The most hideous, yes, yes, I said it, outfits he ever sported. Plus tons of some sparkling jewelry. Is it because he has to stand out on the dark scene and could be missed?

Preparing for a role of ballet dancer has nothing in common with wearing clothes like this. Ballet dancers are normal guys, they wear normal clothes. They don't maintain their image outside the theatre.

But you know what theys say: whatever been published on the internet, stays forever. He's cute, he's kawaii... come on, I don't want men to look cute and kawaii.

@jay: Geun seok has been questioning by Korean media back in the years of 2007-2008 about the rumors of being gay. There I read quite a few korean articles about the subject and I just tried to forget about them. With his unisex fashion sense spotting so many times already , the rumor will be skied high .

Look, every actor has to go through the "is he gay" question. No one escapes that one. He could dress as the manliest man alive and still get that asked. At the end of the day, it's not doubt on sexual orientation that matters. He could be gay if he liked, I'd still like him and so would most of his fans. The problem is not him looking gay.

The problem is him looking flimsy and easily influenced by trends and opinions. If he changes himself for some fans, it means those fans control what he is about. If he is changing because producers ask him to, it means he's under their control and will do what they ask and not necessarily what's best for his career and his fans. People are commenting on his style and are wondering about it. So, if he really does have this style because he likes it, let him at least say so.

It's not a change of style we're asking for. Sure, some of us would like that, but it's not up to us to decide his style for him. Neither should it be up to producers or other fans though. What we're asking for is some indication that he's his own man and master and will not be affected by any other outside influences on what he does and how he does it.

He can dress as a playboy bunny for all I care, he can be gay, straight, bi, whatever. Those are not signs of one's character and attitude towards their job so they don't matter to me. As long as he's doing those things/is those things because HE wants to and because he's in control of his life and not some scatterbrain fans or greedy producers.

I wondered why they just selected only those actors to ask the question, why not the others ? why repeated over and over ?

Well, were they all famous and rising idols? Usually, it's these teen idols or heartthrobs that get "targeted".

You know, fans get a crush on them (well, the characters they're playing) and they fantasize about being their girlfriends etc etc so when they see them without a girlfriend, they start fearing homosexuality. As if they'd actually get to meet or be with the guy if he weren't gay! Ahahaha. And of course if said guy does have a girlfriend, they b*tch cause "she's not good enough for him" which really means "I want to keep thinking he's a guy I could have and she's ruining it for me". :P

Hell, fantasizing isn't bad. We women survive because of it! XD I do it all the time. We all have this perfect guy in our head, but most of us haven't found him yet. So we see an attractive man and "borrow" his image for our dream guy in our heads. Most of us though, can actually realize that and seperate reality from fantasies. The man in our head and the actual person? Not the same thing, ladies! Unfortunately, most fangirls can't make that distinction and thus starts this "Is he gay? Does he have a girlfriend? What is she like? Does he want children? Why isn't he married yet?" wave of questions on one's personal life as if they have any right to ask.

As fans, we have a right and obligation to judge and question our idols public life, image and career. Personal stuff? We got no right to dig into those. No one would like it if people nosed around their personal life. Work is work, life is life. Everyone deserves their privacy and own time. And as long as the "personal time" doesn't include doing drugs or killing people or anything evil or unethic like that, I don't want to know about it and I shouldn't want to. :P Homosexuality or relationships etc etc, has nothing to do with an actor's character, work or relationship with his/her fans.

These fans though won't be satisfied even if an ex of his came and told them he's straight in their face. :P They need something to pick at all the time. For me, his recent style choices can affect this issue, at least in the foreign/international fanbase, but I just find debate over sexuality pointless. He is what he is and has every right to. Knowing or not knowing won't change the fact that you ain't gonna get a piece of him, ladies so leave the man alone. Of course, he's not helping the situation with his crazy style, so you're being a bad boy too, Keun Suk. :P

I love you, man, but you're driving me nuts XD

I feel very sorry for them though. I mean whether they are gay or not, it must feel horrible to have people commenting on and digging into something so personal as sexual preference. It shouldn't be anyone's business but yours and your partner's.

I comment on his style a lot, but that's different. It's an image he projects in public and something that can point to possible flaws in how he treats his career so I have every right to comment on it. To comment on something that has to do with one's image and work is normal and should be done as constructive criticism. To comment on one's personal life though, is crossing the line. It's their own life, something that doesn't concern the public and doesn't have anything to do with their career or how they do their work.

It's sad that they made such a personal "attack" on these actors you speak of and for so long. I personally consider it unethical and inhumane to corner people like that on personal matters.

That's just my own opinion though.

I am at a TOTAL LOSS reading these comments. Can someone please explain to me how this man is wearing "unisex fashion"? Is it the V-neck shirt or the ripped jeans that people are referring to? I don't see how either of these would be considered unisex. I have seen Rain in a shirt way lower than the pictured shirt and I don't hear anyone saying he is gay or unisex. Ripped jeans are ripped jeans. Rock stars wear them all the time. Why does it matter if he wears them? Is he not a singer? Is that not part of his image? Also, does it matter if he is gay? Would you love his acting and singing ability less than before?

Let's face it... everyone wants to know his sexual orientation YET once you find out you are crushed and fixated. Everyone wants to be loved by this man. If he likes women you obsess over any females he is around. If it is a guy then who is he talking to and hanging out with? Get over it? Who cares? Can we just stay on point?

He's a handsome actor with a great ability to pull at our heart strings. Can we just leave it at that? Good actor with a gorgeous face and skinny as hell (LOL). Can we just get past the trivial chit chat? No one asks for the trivial smack talking - they just want to do what they love - act/sing/dance. Imagine if someone did all this smack talking about you as you did your job EVERY DAY. It's tiring and useless.

Oh! And for the people who hate his hair. Did it ever occur to you that he keeps it that way because it allows for a larger variety in images when filing CF's, doing a photo shoot, or filming a show/movie?

**getting off soapbox now**

This is going to anyone who has a problem with me personally. I can't talk for other people, it's up to them to make their own place clear:

Again, we're not talking about these pictures here. We've seen other ones that are completely feminine. If you're going to go through the trouble of complaining about our trivial chit chat, you should have read it first and try to respect that everyone has their opinion and the right to express it, even if you find it taxing or are bored to keep hearing/reading about it. I'm not forcing anyone to read what I write so you can't force me to not write it.

And I don't find our talk trivial at all. We're taking the time to comment on both his good and bad points and we actually care enough to express a full opinion on him and his choices.

Sure, we've been focusing on some disappointing aspects here, but I don't need to prove to anyone that I'm his fan. I know I love his acting and why I love it and I think that I'd be crazy to stay here and express my opinions with most people against me if I didn't like him or gave a damn about his career.

If he just wanted to do his job and didn't want people to talk about him, he wouldn't hold fan meetings and spend so much time doing PR. There's no rule that all opinions should be 100% positive and that we're all supposed to like everything he does or presents to us.

Constructive criticism. Look that up. It means to look at someone's good and bad and give your objective (or as objective as possible) opinion in hopes of giving that person a better and wider picture of his work that they may not be able to see themselves, by being at the center of it.

Did I ever say "I hate the style he has recently so I want him to change it?". No. I said his style projects an image of being flimsy and lacking focus and ability to choose for one's self. Simply because no one can tell if he's doing it to please fans, producers or himself. The third one being the only reassuring scenario.

Yes, I do have many aquaintances and friends that are into j and kdramas, asian movies, j and kpop etc etc. I do have a good idea on how non East Asian countries view all these things. I use what I KNOW and not what I think or want, to say this style is projecting an unstable image to common non East Asian folk like me.

And I just find this whole thing absurd cause the fact of the matter is, you want him to do well, have a good, happy and fulfilling career and so do I. You're blaming me for wanting the same thing as you, just cause I have a different opinion on how that can be achieved? You guys are acting like I hate the man and want to burn him in effigy!

But why is only YOUR way, whether it's not bothering much or adoring everything about him, good and my way of actually pointing out the good AND possible mistakes or laps in good judgement bad? I've been watching movies and series for a veeery long time since infancy, as I'm sure many of you have. We all have a right as fans of movies/tv and fans of actors to express our thoughts on something in this industry. Why are you, who only love everything, so awesome and people like me are scum? I just don't see why only you have the right to comment on something. I never said something bad about you for having your own opinions, even if I don't agree with them so why are you doing it to me? Because I'm "spoiling the fun" and am an easier target than you? Please. That excuse is getting kinda old.

I've said what I wanted to say anyway. Don't overestimate your importance to me and think I'll spend my time saying things that seem to bounce off walls. If you want to shut yourselves in your shell and block every different opinion out because it's not convenient for you or because you lack the ability to accept a world other than your own, it's fine. I'll still express my opinion when I feel it can be of use because I actually care enough to talk about something/someone, but I'm not going to continue this thing just so you can learn to listen (read) and accept other people and other opinions. I'm not your parent or teacher to even bother with that and I'm pretty sure you hate me enough not to want me to anyway.

So please, if you disagree with my opinion, express your thoughts on my opinion and not my choice to voice it or my morals, character and values. A personal attack will not make anyone care about your opinions more, in fact, it works against you. Speak your mind about our subject and trust your opinion and your right to be heard. Insulting others will not give you more attention or a bigger right to be heard that them.

That's my two cents. To the people who do care about propriety in here, thanks for a lovely talk and to the rest, I already gave my answers.

Any one who feel upset about why we rant or mention about Geun seok's unisex fashion style can check out these pictures . They are from his FM in Japan and China about 1 week and a month ago . There were more FM pictures in other unisex styles but I don't want to look , save, or find more them . I don't want to look at our beautiful boy in these hideous fashions . In the past few years, I was annoyed at Dramabeans' comments about Geun Seok's fashion style because I found his style although it was weird but acceptable . Now I feed up enough with these fashion styles .

@Dramabeans: I'm very sorry for just ranting on your blog without saying thank you for your post .
Thank you Dramabeans for udating news about Geun seok .

@ORION: One thing I agree with you is that his recent styles made me cringe rather than drool... I also prefer Kang Gunwoo's style of things.

However, I don't think dressing to get into his character means "the directors have control over him" as your few cmts back. I think it's rather his own choice to do so (but losing weight is the order from the producer I supposed). I remember seeing his pix around BV's time, he is Gunwoo through and through. So maybe it's his character to do that everytime he got the new role? Just to get used to the feeling, I think.

Also, as someone mentioned it before in the interview, he said he can't wait to cut his hair and start eating again (remember, right after YAB,, he gained weight back, looking much better)... So, I wil think that his style during BV or Doremifasolatido are much closer to his true style. And he's young, 23 only, he does have the right to experiment around ^^ to whatever he thinks it might be cool or fun, as long as it's not unhealthy things like drug, gambling, alcohol (in my book)

I do realize the style can be for the movie. I said that in some post before. That's reassuring for him and his choices, but it means the movie will be terribly inaccurate and misguided.

I mean, male ballet dancers do not look like girls. They just don't. Their kind of poise and the way they carry themselves and dance doesn't require dressing up as a woman to convey.

And they're veeery well-built too. They have amazing muscles to be able to balance themselves and do such hard moves so much. Male ballet dancers are, by the nature of their art, very buff.

So loosing weight and dressing up as a woman as a physical preparation for a male ballet dancer role means the people making the movie don't know diddly squat about ballet or just want a skinny cutesy guy and don't care about realism. If he's just going to be a modern contemporaty dancer, like Momo, ok. Let's say he was possibly really buffed up in the past and since he left ballet and went into modern dancing, he un-puffed or something. But if they present him as an active male ballet dancer with this body, it's just not realistic.

I can somehow get the style, if it's for psychological preparation. He might want to feel light, airy and soft in order to portray that in his dancing. I'm cool with that. The fact that he's so thin though, makes me think it's just a matter of the director/producers not about to portray a realistic character because they prefer to go for a skinny girly guy that fangirls will like. Sure, Matsumoto Jun was pretty skinny in KWP as well, but we never saw him in actual classic ballet so it's belieavable.

If the Korean version will stay away from classic ballet as well, then I can understand and approve of how he looks now. Sure, he's dressed weird over the years, but the only phase I've really been bothered by is this "lady" phase he's in now.

I still think it's a wrong approach to male ballet, but if it works for them/him, fine. I'll bake a friggin' cake in his honor, if he stops dressing this way after the movie. XD

And I have no doubt about the hair and weight. I know he'll gain it back, cause it's obvious he's a foodie. Problem is, if they keep asking him to go skinny over and over again and he accepts, he's gonna get a lot older a lot faster. Gaining and loosing weight fast creates wrinkles. You can already see his neck in YAB i.e. He's getting some serious signs of this constant change.

He's a very handsome young man with beautiful skin and it would be a shame. I just hope he'll start accepting more "adult" parts soon where he won't be asked to turn "trendy" a.k.a. anorexic-looking. No wonder we all loved him in BV so much. He had color, fat and looked healthy cause it wasn't the kind of series that was going only for the "fangirl" fanbase. I'm sure there were plenty of fangirls loving it too though. I loved it :P And Keun Suk and his great performance and look aside, who can not bow to Kim Myung Min for that performance? Ahaha.

I guess my wish for KWP and the next few months would be:

- Let the boy eat!
- Do NOT give us a feminine Momo
- And stop asking the man to lose weight all the time. You might love it, but I'm sure he doesn't and it's not healthy! Of course, that means Keun Suk should stop accepting and doing it so easily.

The moment I'll see some fat and color back on that lovely body, I'll be a happy woman. Fat, color and some proper style I wouldn't want to steal and wear for myself XD

@ORION: I think they just mentioned "dancer", don't know about "ballet" though... I agree with you too about the losing weight requirement.. he's already too thin in YAB...
and I love Gunwoo ^^... funny thing though, i have a director friend, who's looking for a "girly guy" role in his coming movie, I joked, gave him the recent Sukkie's pix and said "look at this, what do you think?" and he said "OH, he's perfect for the role!" (we're not Korean :P). After that, I gave him the clips from BV, telling him it's the same person, my friend didn't believe me, saying "how come!" ^^!

Ahaha. Yep. It's the same person alright. ^^

Funny, I was under the impression it would be "ballet dancer". If it's just dancer, we're a.ok. Assuming of course it is all preparation for the movie.

I think Keun Suk's looks are very versatile in that way. I mean, before I saw these recent pictures, I'd read here and there about how "cute" and more of a feminine than masculine guy he is and at the time, I couldn't see it. I remembered him in BV and just thought "How is this fine piece of manliness girly?". Now, I see it, but it's because he's managed to make himself look so girly. Some men are too butch to look cute and feminine and some are too feminine to look manly. Keun Suk's figure and face are very unique in that he can be both, without one looking more like him than the other. He looks like a very macho man when manly and very Princess when he's like he is now i.e. I might not like his current style, but he can pull it off very well.

It's just that to make a feminine/girly style look natural, he's been acting very girly too. If it will help him with his performance, fine. Let's wait and hope ;)

that kinda proves that he can be fit into any kind of role because of his appearance and acting skills, so I'm not upset. Just that I'm praying we'll see his manly image again... in YAB, he put too much make up that his face is white, while in BV, his face looks more natural << and I love that not-perfect skin of him, rough, manly ^^

"Perfect" is a tricky term. I don't think pasty white, suffocating with foundation skin is perfect. For me, his natural color and skin is much more perfect than the "mask" he has on in YAB.

I do agree with some make-up on male celebrities during work hours just to enhance one's beauty and especially during filming to create good conditions for the camera. I mean, every actor has make-up on while filming. But minor adjustments is a looong way from looking like you had a fight with your make-up bag.

And it's not like he's some hideous creature that needs make-up desperately. He's a drop dead gorgeous guy, for crying out loud. It's not like anyone's gonna look at a zit or his acne and suddenly think "MY GOD, what a monster this is!". I've seen plenty of men with imperfections, faaaar more serious ones than he has and they are still gorgeous. People have imperfections. It's the way nature made us. You can't find perfection outside of the movie/tv/entertainment world and no one should ask for it outside those environments/situations/conditions.

Jang Keun Suk is still the favorite star for me regardless of his dress or hair. Seriously, he loves his fan and treats us as someone who are so important to him. We should always support him if we still call ourselves "Cri J".

I hope you all know he is doing all this (lose weight, practice dancing) for us and the intention to make all of us enjoy his performances.

I just love dramabeans! JB, tnx for posting topics such as this.

JGS is quite popular ne? quite a lot of people are posting their opinions on this thread, including me of course. it just shows how much ppl are interested in him. all these comments amuses me that is why, i can't resist posting myself.

@ Orion: I don't think you're a homophobic. i do agree with some of your pts too. One should be responsible of how one dresses or acts in front of the public if you are a public figure. I for once abhor dressing up and wearing make up everyday but I couldn't do away with it since I'm surrounded by sick children all the time. it would be kinda weird if you look sicker or paler than them. I don't mean that by cutting down on your wardrobe choices that you should hide yourself, it's just that a lot of people looks up to you thus its your responsibility to look the best for them.

JGS, as I've said before is a method actor, that is why he is immersing himself in that role but I've seen the way he dressed before and i definitely cringe (and LOL). But why don't we just give him time. why don't we wait until he finishes KWP and then we decide if he's getting too girly for our liking or it was just because of the role.

I for once would love to see him gain some weight (yup, the BV look is surely welcome) coz I don't fancy seeing him being hospitalized again due to exhaustion. nevertheless, in the end , i will always try to support his works despite his personal choices.

Hey peeps, isn't it obvious why JGS is dressing like that? Think of Lady Gaga. Three years ago no one knew who she was. She has vocal talent but it's hard to compete against Britney, Beyonce, Rhianna, Carrie Underwood, etc. So, she dresses really strange and "tada!" instant stardom. She is the most "tweeted" entertainer on earth (for the moment) and her concerts are always sold out. Now that she has everyone's attention thru her weird dressing, she can showcase her singing/dancing talents. Same goes for Jang Geun Seok. By being known as a "flower boy" and dressing girly, he's in the public's eye. Fans will either love it or hate it, but they will tweet about it and "tada!" another instant star. He is definitely rising on the top best looking Korean guy chart. I think once he gets the recognition he wants (or the recognition his stylist/managers want) he will show how manly he can be. But for now, let's all chill and enjoy his awesome acting abilities. JGS 4evr
