OH! Where can I watch Capital Scandal? I've been looking for it everywhere. :O

Yeah I saw it too, but that was his very first scene. There is no guarantee it is like that for the whole episode/series right? :)

I mean we can hope that was shot again and we only got the promotional footage right?!?! right? It wasn't even edited for broadcast or anything...

I NEED HAPPY THOUGHTS!

I'm watching My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, and I'm totally loving the leads! they are both adorable! I don't find it laugh out loud funny most of the time, but the cuteness, random events and pacing is just right up my alley.

As for Playful Kiss , well, I think I'm one of the few who aren't excited for it.

I've seen It Started With a Kiss, which is the supposedly the Taiwanese version of Playful Kiss, so I'm not too excited. The female lead was kinda annoying for me.

For everyone thinking but not sure about whether to check out I Am Legend, here's come's a First Impression review (up to ep 6)

http://thundie.wordpress.com/2010/08/20/i-am-legend-sbs-2010-first-impressions/

kaedejun is doing awesome recaps here at DB, but since music is featured so prominently in this drama, I highly recommend watching it if the drama looks like your cup of tea. :-)

Can't believe it's Friday already~ My eyes are totally swollen because I randomly decided to watched the last two episodes of Damo last night. Yeah, not the world's most brilliant move at all. But it was worth it. Ha Ji Won - I wuv you.

Can't WAIT for Playful Kiss - KHJ can't act but I'm hoping he won't have to and that the cuteness of the story will make up for it. Plus, his GORGEOUSNESS.

I want to start Gumiho too but currently finishing up Winter Sonata and making my way through Baker King, which is surprisingly deeply enjoyable

I can't decide whether to be happy or sad it's friday already. I'm happy it's friday because I don't have work and I'll be going over to a friend's out to chill. But I'm sad because I had planned to work on a project for work the past two nights and haven't done anything.

Anyways, I've been having a great time watching MGIAG. When I first heard about drama, I was curious as to how they will find enough interesting material to last 16 episodes- even if it's a Hong sisters drama and these women are awesome- but seriously I could spend 16 episodes watching MiHo eat out of the trash and chasing vouchers. Shin Minah is really at another level of acting!

I've also discovered a drama series adaptation of L.M. Montgomery's Emily of New Moon books. I was really excited to find it at the library (even though only the 2nd season was available), but the series really BUTCHERED the book. I was pretty upset until I decided to let go and enjoy the trainwreck.

The tv series is still called Emily of New Moon. It was made in Canada in 1998 and has 4 seasons. DVDs of the series just finally got released last year, which is why I didn't know it existed. But be forewarned, they really butchered the books!

I only started watching the second season- which is when the poop hit the fan and i'm screaming obscenities and yelling "you can't do that!" every 2 minutes. I heard season one was pretty good and stuck closely to the books.

Hey.... have been watching My girlfriend is Gumiho. One word... Hilarious! xD Shin Min Na is really adorable in there. Her acting is really good. Usually i would find someone acting like that very annoying and try hard to be cute but not her.. She is just awesome playing Miho. I haven't seen much of her dramas and movies. I have only watched a bit of The Devil (planing of continuing it. thou, i can't even finish the Japanese version of it Dx), volcano high and sad movie.

and Seung Ki XD I'm a huge fan of his ever since i know him (just finished watching 2N1D xD) and one thing i can said... he had improved since Brilliant Legacy and I'm really glad. Thou, people keep saying his character is a coward but come on people.. Won't you be the same if you have some Gumiho with you who you though would kill and eat you and at the same time you have someone you like? O_o

Yeah... been watching King of Baking too.. anyone watching it? I really hate Majun.. trying to understand his character. try to reasons him but i just can't handle him anymore. He is just one Pathetic boy who have huge Father complex!

And I'm watching I'm Legend too.. hahaha I did not have high hope for it but oh boy.... it give me such a shocker! I LOVE it. and feel like killin the husband and that GF of his >O

As of playful kiss... I'm a HUGE fan of SS501 and to tell you the truth I cringe watching leader's (KHJ) acting in BOF. The character just did not suit him. I have seen him act before that (just like a sitcom and stuff) and he can act better than BOF. So.... I hoping thou caution approaching Playful kiss!

AWWW!

Thanks SO much for that! I noticed that track on the OST and wondered whether it was random men singing, or... I'm so thrilled it's actually the cast. Isn't CSJ adorable when he takes on the role of leader in the recording studio as well (albeit with somewhat dodgy timing). LOVE the solo bits, love the man chorus bits, love the way they peruse their scores so earnestly, love it all.

The pretty toy boy bands can take a hike. There's nothing so delightfully moving as REAL men who have gone through hell and high water together singing about camaraderie.

I like to believe that they are real-life buddies having fun and singing out their buddy feelings, and yes I know that there's a camera in the room and a lot of these such scenes are manufactured for fans. But I don't think it's too much of a stretch when we've seen for ourselves how they tweet each other, heehee.

Just wanted to talk about this issue, because it came up in one of the posts earlier this week:

How young is too young to look at and think "Wow, I want!" I mean, I started feeling guilty for looking at Rain (three years younger than me and justified in my head because my husband is three years older than me), but then I saw T.O.P., and I know I'm just going to H3LL for that one. I know that I will never touch these boys in real life, even given half of a chance, but at what point does a person become "bad" for looking?

And let's not use words like 'cougar' because that just screams of a double standard and poor education. My dad is eight years older than my mom, and he never got looked at weird for marrying her.

Any thoughts, ladies (and gents)?

You don't have to feel guilty at all! Celebrities look their noona fans and hey, who doesn't like daydreaming abot hot guys? I mean, my 86 year old grandma has a crush on Lee Seung gi. She claims that she only thinks of him as a grandson but the way her eyes look at him tells a different story...

I have to agree with jm126. I think as long as you know your limits in "reality" there is no problem. Plus T.O.P. is a dangerous, dangerous man(child)! [Idk anyone, that isn't upset he's 3yrs old on the availability scale :)]

Noticing what looks good is natural. Its fun and in most cases, 100% harmless. But just something to keep in mind...my drama buddy has a cap...legality. In America, you are legal at 18yrs. Though I don't entertain any that young, its always nice to have that as a base. If you feel guilty about youngsters, I think that is the proper way to look at it.
I try to have my young'uns cap at 23yrs but it doesn't always work out that way (hehe). With idols popping up like weeds in a garden its hard to always "abide by the rules." Also, its just as bad the other way round, I am in love with Jeun Kwang Ryeul (affectionately called Swallow Daddy-after his previous role in STS) and Kim Gab Soo! These guys are just 2 years younger than my dad but that means ZERO to me!
Of course ultimately, though I would be more likely to enter into an illicit affair with older men than younger ones, it doesn't make you gross or inappropriate, as long as they are legal or you are close in age.

And T.O.P???....Seriously honey, anyone would give you a pass for that!

Posted that in the wrong place. Oops.

@notoriousnoona- that actually really did make me feel better about myself.

I suppose some of my guilt comes from my teenage children and 20 year old students. If it's okay for me to like these pop stars, how do I tell these kids that they have nothing in common with me, only ten years older than they are? Hm. Perhaps I start drama where none is required...

0

Required fields are marked *

Well I do hope it helped.
I'm glad I don't have children of my own to contend with, though I suppose we'd just have to swoon over T.O.P.'s "lolli lolli lollipop dalgomhage dagawa/ lolli lolli lollipop naegae soksakyeojwo" together :D
But as for students, I don't say things like "we don't have anything in common" I am more the blunt "I don't care if we do" type. Professional and personal lives are separate and students fall into the professional.
I don't have any 20 yr friends but I do have some acquaintances that are pretty close. There are girls that I've known for awhile that I rather like/love that are close to 10 yrs younger than I am. Most younger males I associate with are about the 5yr range but in the dating world, for me that is still too young and border scary. I just think that we as women have a tendency to over-analyze. One may think that humans grow up and become mature but that just isn't the case. One should remain childlike but gain wisdom. Plus as an adult its our job to keep some things only for OT ;)

I have friends that have it harder though, they teach high school but one friend used her mutual love for JGS as a bridge with a student last yr. Ultimately, I think its all in how you look at it. Drawing a line is definitely important but age really has no bounds for HOTNESS recognition.

@ 27.1.1.1 brookeeve

I used the word 'cougar' in a post earlier this week, so are you commenting on my post? Huh, Brookeeve? HUH??? How DARE you???

Just kidding, just kidding! Mianhae, Brookeeve-unni! Mianhae! 'Cougar' does indeed imply a double standard, and I shouldn't have used it (I'm sorry!), but I wouldn't go so far as to say that the use of the word also implies poor education. That's reaching a bit.

Now, as for your how-old-is-too-old question, I'm with notoriousnoona on this one (she always speaks such sense).
Drawing a line is definitely important but age really has no bounds for HOTNESS recognition.
So true! Here's how I see it, if I may be blunt. Once a person has gone through puberty and is universally legal, at least by the standards of all countries where there is a legal age -- I'm thinking 18 is the latest -- then they're fair game for appreciating. It doesn't make you dirty or pervy and it's nothing to be ashamed of. As human beings we have evolved to recognize and to be attracted to beauty, and feeling ashamed of your own desires is unfortunately something that seems to be mainly limited to women. Hugh Hefner is hailed as ... I don't even know what, but he's hailed. I think he's gross, not because he's an old man who likes young women, but because he traffics in those women -- barely legal ones at that -- bedding them hither and yon, swapping them out repeatedly for newer and younger models like they're disposable items. On the other hand I think that jm126's grandmother having a crush on Lee Seung-gi is really sweet. And yet, unlike Hugh, her grandmother couches her crush on familial terms, saying she thinks of him as a grandson, when a man wouldn't have to pretend like that. Women need to own it! As long as you can differentiate between what you feel and what you do, there's no harm.

As for me, I generally don't go below the 20-year-old line just because I'm ten years older than that, but I'll admit that in the past year, SHINee's almost-19-year-old Minho has made me look at him sideways a few times. And that's OK. Because I'm not actually going to jump the boy. And don't even get me started on Siwon and TOP! My neighbor is a 60-year-old marathoner and he's tall, ridiculously handsome and oh-so-distinguished. I have been known to drop my mail or have to suppress a giggle when we're at the mailbox at the same time. And that's OK. Because I'm not going to jump him either. I can be happily married to my husband (who is three years younger than I am), and still see the HAWTness in others, regardless of how old they are. Well, as long as they're post-pubescent and legal. Own it, brookeeve! Own it.

0

@Lahlita- totally didn't see your post on cougars earlier this week. I just really happen to hate that term with a vengeance.

Nah, I think you're cool. I've seen tons of other things that you have posted that are awesome, so you still have plenty of points in my book.

I think that the age limit in Asia is 20, but that information is what I have gathered from dramas, so that is as reliable as you can take it from me.

And the thought of TOP still makes my face turn red, but I am 31.

0

@ brookeeve

What the -- you're 31? Brookeeve, PLEASE. I'm almost thirty. Ergo, you're only a year older than I am, and still in the flush of your youth. Women don't even hit their carnal prime until their thirties. Lust away, brookeeve! Lust away! It's gonna be an awesome decade.

So ... when you say the legal age in Asia is 20, is that like the Korean 20 (where you're automatically a year old on the day you're born, and then age another year every January 1st), or Western age? I'm thinking (hoping?) it's 20 Korean-style, which would mean somewhere about 18 Western-style. Otherwise, I've been a very bad Lahlita, and will have to perform 3000 bows of remorse for ever, ever thinking that SHINee's Minho was purty.

PS: I do my best to be a good person who treats others the way she wants to be treated. However, unni, you seem so discomfited by your admiration for T.O.P. that I might have to tease you.
Mmm, TOP. TOP in a suit. TOP with a gun.... :-P

0

@Lahlita-
Has anyone ever told you that you are, indeed, evil? I thought that I might point that out in case that it has escaped your notice.

0

@ brookeeve

Kyah, unni. People might have tried to tell me I'm evil before, but by the time I turn my bambi eyes on them (with a pout to boot) they've forgotten what they were going to say. Mwahahaha.

Besides, I only mentioned TOP in a suit, holding a gun. That's not evil. Don't worry, I'll never be eviler. I won't ever mention TOP slowly taking off his suit and unholstering his gun while he undresses you with his eyes. Or TOP grabbing your hand and running it down his chest. Or TOP slowly leaning over you while you tremble with --

Nope, I'll never do that! Don't worry, unni!

Sure, here's my thoughts. This is why there is the ICOMYM.

And if you are going to hell for ogling T.O.P., you are going to have a lot of company.

My own personal rule is that I'm not allowed to ogle anyone where I could rationally be their mother. Which basically means that KNG barely makes the cutoff. ::big evil grin:: Fortunately, there are a lot of ogle-able men above that age.

T.O.P. however, that's dangerous territory, he clearly falls into the ICOMYM category, but, and I know I've said this before, my instant reaction to him is "Whoa! Good lord, lock up your daughters."

0

Required fields are marked *

My rule USED to be that they had to be older than my children. Now that my oldest is 30 ( and yes I was 6 when he was born) there's been a rule change. I go by the youngest ones age (he's 20) :)

There is a reason that ICOMYM starts with the letter I. :)

0

That's a way better rule.

0

Required fields are marked *

I have two different rules. One is for actual dating and the other is for looking. For actual dating this rule came about because my mom is 20 years older than me and we were getting hit on by the same people when we went out together. It is the 10 year rule. Ten years either way is OK! At 60 or 70 ten years either way isn't a big deal. Starts to mean more at 36(hmm) but I won't be hitting on any 1985s anytime soon. They don't appeal to me in real life. So long as they past a legal age of consent and within 10, I say go for it.

Next rule. Visual stimulation is normal and right so long as it's legal. I don't fault men for looking at pretty girls and I don't fault myself for looking at Onew, Changmin, T.O.P, Siwon, Heechul, ...Got distracted there. That is to say why get upset about looking at something that makes you happy. Besides they are marketing these guys to as broad of an audience as possible to they can sell more to more people. You are supposed to look. Or the marketing and casting geniuses screwed up.

Required fields are marked *

I have more than one rule, too.

I'm a writer and have story boards littering my office, with various pics of actors, idols, et cetera, all over them, and I don't put any age limit on them. If a pic of a toddler gives me a glimpse of the cuteness that will be the man, I will use it, as well as using a 90-year old grandpa with a twinkle in his eye to represent where my character would wind up later in life. So, for hotness, cuteness, chemistry, attraction, call it by any name, there's no age limit when I'm writing and fantasizing about my character from birth to death. I'm not dead, so I can see cute 13 year old boys and remember what I was attracted to at that age and go, "He's cute." It pretty much ends there, though, in my mind, with many a "can't wait till he grows up" added.

In our writer's group, we play various games (silly and fun ice breakers mostly), sometimes kiss-kick-kill (the polite wording of the game), where we name three famous men we'd want to do those three things with, and there's no age limit given, but when Daniel Radcliffe's naked Equus pics came out years ago, and he wasn't 18 yet, some of the women crushed on him and I just thought, "Whoa, he's a child in a man's body." So there is/was a limit in my mind that I found through that.

The last rule has to do with how I instruct my daughters: my 13 year old crushes on Hugh Jackman like crazy (and really, you'd have to be dead not to see something in the man!) and loves the voices of Sam Elliott and Sean Connery. She has no teen crushes, not one (not even in SuJu, et cetera). Discussions with her about real life men take the form of: first, up to a decade older AFTER she's 20-21, not more than 3-4 years younger after she's 22, and we've discussed the various reasons for limiting age of men she'd date that way. In her perfect world, Lee Junki will get out of MS, re-launch his career, wait for her to grow up, be stunned by her beauty, and marry her on the spot when she's 20. It's good to have a dream. :)

What a fantastic dream...Just don't let the other fan girls find out if it actually happens. :)

Personally I dream of the day Sung Si Kyung will find me and sing to me in a crowd. For that, I will die happy. The other fantasies/mind wanderings I may have about various stars of various ages are less simple and pure because I know I'll never ruin my fantasy with reality :)

TGIF Peeps!

Woh~ I'm addicted to IAL and MGIG but wait... I was disappointed reading JB and GF didn't find King of Baking calling to either of them so I was curious and spared time to watch a few first episodes of KB starting yesterday..... OOOOH, IT'S SOOOO GOOD! If you like the puppy love story in the beginning of WISFC then it is more definite you will like KB's puppy love story. And BK plot's thicken better and better as those episodes grow in volume, before I knew it, I'm up to ep.14 blessed w/ a free Friday to really satisfy my current obsession of Kim Tak Gu. I wouldn't be drawn to any eye-candy here rather based on the effervescent morale of principles; it's baking like holy yeast fermenting drama heated as buttered up bread and satisfying a hungry sinful appetite.

Should you both [JB and GF] reconsider and watch it? My advice, pause on the Gumiho GF rerun 'cos its full on protein [Gumiho loves her beef] and really give King of Baking a fair chance 'cos you know you haven't had enough carbs [and fiber, it's 2010 more health conscience^ , ^] in your diet yet.
LOL!

Dude, you might not know this, but JB and GF spend HOURS recapping those episodes. I am sure that in their heart of hearts, they occasionally like to go outside, shop a little, maybe eat at Ben & Jerry's when the mood suits. Asking them to do something, when they volunteer so much, is like a little kid asking for a pony from parents who are doing an excellent job raising them anyway.

However, I would like to say this: you do not seem unintelligent. Why don't you try recapping Baker King yourself? I think that you could pull it off, and I would read it if you did so.

Oh no, I'm not so cruel demanding JB and GF to recap Baker King. I haven't started using the term "recap" until you grazed it here a bit.

I'm just giving a nudge on a drama I think is well worth spare time, besides the many other good ones out there.

Jeongmal? You really will read it if I recap. Oh~ I see, do you want to join my diet program? Carbs and fiber to go. If "someone" ask me then I maybe just might make you work up a buttery sweat. ^ , ^ v

Thanks for your recommendation.

I don't know what Jeongmal means, but if it means 'Really' (hoping that I used context clues correctly,) then yes, I will read your recaps. Generally speaking, I like reading recaps more than I like watching shows, especially when there are things that I would not understand about another culture and that are explained so nicely. Especially since my family has not been Asian for approximately 13,000 years (and yes, that's a Native American nerd joke).

how did u watched that drama? dont u just HAAAAATTTEEE that grandma and president? theyre evil and bias! no wonder the her wife are turning evil. and look how they treat the grandson, rubbish. i mean, i can understand why the boy turnout to be a bad man later.

i wish i never watched the 1st couples of episodes and just jumped to later episodes so i didnt know the base of the story which is completely bias! only that way i could enjoy this drama.

Hello everyone. I am recently rewatching the Tamna Island series on Viikii, the full one, and some thing has been on my mind since I was watching the original one. In the series, there's this one background song that is regularly play throughout, but it is not included in the OST album. It has this sad tone to it, and also very soothing to listen to.
It was played, i believed, in the first episode when Beojin went to deep sea diving with her mother's group, and after being scolded, she told her mom she should have give birth to an ox instead. After that scene is when she was crying on the hill, and the music was playing then. I want to know whether this song was also played in another series, and what is the name of it. It was also played when Park Gyu forced a kiss on Beojin when he thought William was dead in the short version.

If anyone recognizes the song, I hope you can help me T_T I've been asking around for a while but nobody knows it.

I went back and re-listened to the instrumental, which I recognize now bc of Tamra, but I don't recollect every hearing it elsewhere, or the name of the song.

It sounds sageuk more than anything else, @ momosan and @ hjkomo, sageuk sisters of mine, either of you recall hearing this, say, in ROI or QSD or King & I or Yi San, et. al.

You're already re-watching Tamra? :-D It's so utterly rewatchable, isn't it.

I just finished Tamra yesterday too for the first time! And absolutely loved it. Team Park Kyu! <3

Don't know why I took so long getting around to it but now that I'm done, I'm being smothered in a dark hole of withdrawal...I need me a new drama fast.

@Kat

How were you able to watch the full version, assuming you mean the full 20 eps, if you don't mind me asking? I thought it wasn't up on Viikii yet...

@ mems,

The 21 episode directors cut is up at viikii. Viikii has two Tamra channels, one for the broadcast version and one just went up for the directors cut full length. Do a search, you should find it. I think they spell it Tamna the Island.

I've also just finished watching Tamra and I really, really couldn't stand Beojin and Illiam!
What I would like explained to me is does that mean that the actors are that good that they can play these totally irritating characters? I loved everyone else in the drama but was soooo annoyed whenever Beojin acted so immature and babyish and Illiam was so selfcentered. Beojin acted like a 10 yr old so I was wondering how old she was really supposed to be. Her kid sister acted way more mature, and she seemed to be about 10 years old.
I guess this means good acting because she wasn't quite annoying in Cinderella Sisters.
I sure wish I had a more analytical mind like JB, Thundie, GF, Ockoala, Serendipity and all you other great reveiwers and recappers.
I kept thinking I wasn't going to finish Tamra because I was so irritated but kept watching to see what happened to Park Kyu and Yann.

Happy OT Friday/Saturday EVERYONE!

Started Giant...the tears have stopped. I would say around ep 6. I'm sure it won't last but my 'ducts sure thank me.
Saw the 1st ep of Gloria, am waiting for Jejongwon to be uploaded to DF and watching/re-watching Tamra. Like alot of others, I'm watching GGf and think its precious. I was wondering why others don't seem to like it at all though. At times things like that are fascinating to me. I get not loving it, especially if you are the comparing type, however its adorable and funny, and not over-the-top. I also like what the Hong sisters are doing so far with the myth and what SMA brings to her character.
Oh-ho I think that's all the update I'm willing to type. My plan to to get through Giant 10 today. I want to smile at least once, while watching this show ;)

Have a great weekend everyone...*toodles*

I'm loving My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. Can't wait until next week's episode. I love how, with the Hong sisters, you can't predict what's going to happen next!

I'm not putting my hopes high for Playful Kiss. I didn't really like the plot to the TW version. So if they follow the TW version, then the main couple will only have 2 kisses.....

Can't wait for SungKyanKwan Scandal!

Recently, I delved into some 2007 circa dramas, and have been re-watching "Thank You", with Jang Hyuk and Gong Hyo Jin.

It's a really cute and quirky drama.

I suggest it for anyone who can handle comedy and some tears.

Happy Friday to everyone!

Hi everyone. this is a rant about baker king.
SPOILERS AHEAD FOR BAKER KING up to and including ep 4.

I started watching Baker King Kim Tak Gu last night and I really wish this site had recaps on it. Because I don't know if it's just me but the show is so frustrating. Everyone is just a damn hypocrite or has a major fault. Was it supposed to be this way? Like the grandma. She's a stubborn old mule but calls ma jun stubborn. And i get that the childhood part is set back in the day, but is it REALLY the wife's fault that she couldn't bear a son.. cuz from what i learned in biology, i dont think so. And the grandma treats her terribly for that.

And why don't anyone care about the damn kids? What kind of father is the father? HE'S the one that seduced his maid. And him and grandma acts like it was his right to.. wtf?! LWAJEFLWKJAEAlwakjef;wajeflawjflaw.

THe maid.. she was a slut for sleeping with the husband. Sure she had no choice since she lived there and was attracted to him, but she barely put up a fight for... i guess she has no principles on this. And sure i can sympathize with the consequences of her life after getting pregnant, but it was her fault. And she obviously cannot keep a promise--ie stay away from dae soong.

GAH. I'm pointing out these three cuz it seems like the show is trying to make them out to be the good people. Maybe future episodes will show some of their regret--if they have any. buttholes.

and ma jun. he's not a nice little boy at all, but i don't like the way the grandmother treats him. and the father is not fatherly at all, except with tak gu. That so irks me. Can't parents treat their children equally.

And I'm guessing the show meant to do this and cuz it was back in the day when sons were everything, but all the sexism is awfejlwaejflwkjfaj. I feel bad for the two girls.

i'll stop here. restrained myself from cursing many times.

the 'maid' (actually, she's a nurse) is his first love. they have a history together. she's the one he wanted to marry originally, but the grandmother objected. she's not just some servant he seduced. not that it makes the cheating any less of a wrong...

They were childhood sweethearts but torn by status. The Gu family took in few orphans like Tak Gu's mom (Kim Mi Sun) and Mgr Han whom they raised and put them through college.

I know what you mean though. The show really boils me over and keeps my heart racing every episode tamale.

Gu Grandma reminds me of my mother being so strict on me, however I became someone like Gu In Jong, and there are times my mother understands few retributions in her life choices.

Anyways, I fell for this show 'cos I have a BFF whom owns a family bake shop and I recommend him this show; his family is entertained by this as well.

I can't believe this show is gonna end at 30 episodes.

I'm having a huge crush on Jung Il Woo right now, since I've just finished The Return of Iljimae this week. The drama has WOWed me in everything - acting, plot, cinematography etc.. I started ROI with very low expectation (regardless the ratings JB & GF gave), but strangely being pulled to it. The emotions of ROI had bugged me for days, and left me feeling disturbed the whole week. The watching of ROI is like your whole heart being jumbled up and pulled slowly at every corner that you experience every emotive sense you can find in it. Gosh, I can't even describe that clearly! :D

This is definitely going straight to my all time list!

So I was chatting with Ender's Girl about KimuTaku in Space, and she mentioned she's more fantasy and less sci/fi, but she has watched Robotech.

And to no one's surprise, she's a Lisa girl. Like, is there a single female viewer on Team Minmei? Yeah, only The Lost Boy is her sole defender, and he's not here to defend her.

For all BG watchers - Anders or Apollo? And no, you hate Starbuck is not an answer choice.

Continued from #148
@janna
What about the skirt-thing in episode 27, did she kill Jung-shikeeh's flower garland to make that?
What can I say they're the fashion family... appreciated how both siblings wore co-ordinated his and hers business suits in ep25, there were cherry-reds, black and lots of glitter between them, and it's only 1981 yet -- wooh!

What is it about HTS and dead people being not dead? Poor guy even has a ghost next to him in the main poster. (People may whinge about the main poster being fug, but hey it has TWO Seung-mos, the Major in shades, a bolt of lightning over Min-woo's head(!) and a bow-tie wearing ghostie in it, what's not to love?)

Can I just say, I'm SO proud of 523/4 and James Lee both. Oh, hell yeah. Swoon...

Oh crap, did I just show him my 'angry face'? But I'm meant to be wide-eyed, sweet and carefree thus making the world a bright, yellow-coloured place --- solution: smile and wave, just smile and wave'' Did that elicit a smile? Good, now off I skip.

@Serendipity
Bingo! Yeah, they're completely different animals. Comrades being a hard-hitting, serious, war drama, whereas Giant is a period epic purely made to entertain (and move) us and as much as it's severely heartwrenching and tragic (my poor, bleeding heart), it's fictitous and therefore has room to play around and be campy and humourous in parts.
I like that the humour in Giant has many different forms, you have Seung-mo and his sophisticated, ironic, blink-and-you'll-miss-it brand of humour, Gang-mo and his black humour -- y'know like ripping some gangster's beard off or the ''come, shampoo my hair'' scene. And then you have certain characters who also happen to have a comical side like the love-to-hate Jung-shik (who we all love to laugh AT), the always filthy-mouthed Park So-tae and a witty Mijoo (''if you smack gum really loudly while riding the bus - you feel GREAT!'' Maybe that wasn't as funny in itself but in context and person she said it to, I found it funny).

Someone else was asking the same question about when the show 'lightens up' when they'd started watching it, I was like, 'oh second half of episode 4, definitely'. They got back to me saying, ''but that was horrible, you said it gets lighter'' -- I don't know, I guess it's all subjective in the end -- not everyone laughed and was amused by the shoeshining kids' street brawls then. But… the shoeslapping part was hilarious and the cute fat kid with the earmuffs who'd pretend-kick Gang-mo and say ''aiyoosh, aiyoosh!''

@MGFiaG:
I actually really, really like MGFiaG and feel ample chemistry between the two leads. However I've not seen beyond episodes 1-2, same with I Am Legend and Gloria. I guess it's a mood thing for me, my heart's just too into Giant and Sandglass and I'm savouring each of them so much I wouldn't want any other show with a different kind of tone to clash with them. I think since Giant's started I've only been picked other shows that serve as a complementary condiment to add to the main feast that is Giant - kinda thing.

And as a fan of Sung Dong-il, I swear he's not being wasted in MGiaG, he's Chow Yun-Fat-Lite - aight.

Are you watching Comrades as well? Cool! There can not be too much watching of Comrades. In fact, I feel strongly there is currently far too little. Why are so few people sampling the awesomesauce?

It might soon be my "model" piece. As in, when my unindoctrinated friends ask why on earth I watch "Korean soap operas" (which is what they think all k-drama is), I shall merely direct them to an episode of Comrades, their jaws will drop, and I will never be accused of slumming it again.

Comrades is the first kdrama that my husband has watched and -

2) Not said was stupid
3) Not mocked

5) Anticipates the next episode

He has to wait for subs to watch, so I'm watching it unsubbed first and then rewatching the subbed episodes with him. While watching ep.18, he heard me yelling from the other room and came rushing in to find out what was happening - he was actually disappointed that I wouldn't let him see my laptop screen, as I told him he had to catch up on the subbed eps first. HA.

It looks like Comrades is going to be the first kdrama that he finishes. :D

Like Serendipity, I'm also wondering why so few are sampling the awesomesauce... O_o

I'm definitely-definitely going to make a start on Comrades this week. Just wanted to finish off Sandglass and Count of Myeongdong before I do. Have a lump in my throat after finally(!!!) finishing CoMD last night, I really, really liked it. May write a few sentences on it soon.

But yes, I'm really looking forward to seeing Lee Tae-ran in Comrades after your review. I LOVE strong females (and in combination with stirring human drama).

I was saying the exact same thing about Giant (before the recent surge of interest) that there weren't enough people watching this treasure, but I guess Giant and Comrades need an invested audience, and that they frighten away the makjang-loving ahjummas and the eye-candy-seeking trendies-loving teens which seem to make up the majority of the drama-loving community.
Which is fine, I'm ok with that, but what I can't forgive EVER is when people label Giant another East of Eden -- or bring up Comrades along with Road No.1 as though they're the same thing. (I know, guilty!) It's just... criminal.

I know, dad be sporting mad awesome ascots. It's the House of Hwang. Fashion trendsetters.

Who is calling the poster fug? That poster can win fights against other posters.

I'm proud someone went "James Lee? Oh, Really. That is too rich. LAME." "B-B-But James is like the most popular name in America ever." ". . .So." "Dude that situation you're thinking of which janna can't write due to spoilers could not happen. never. never! It's not like we're characters in some drama show" (Both Jung-Shik and Min-woo turn and look directly at the camera)

I agree there's a lot of different levels to the humor in Giant. Slapstick, dark humor, physical comedy (whenever MW takes a tragic "beating", drink!). I can make light of anything I guess. Except for when SM cries cuz that's serious business, yo.

Yes, OST part 3, with all the instrumentals and Mijoo's sad love song/theme.
Aside from Loving Yoooou.... I lovelovelove the Giant OST. The Shinji song took a while to get into but it has a 70s Donna Air sassy pop song feel to it, and I'm addicted.
But Edelweiss aka. Gang-mo's shoeshiner of Myeongdong anthem, is my fave (even if the high pitched harmonica opening is annoying) -- and so here's to all those who miss those damn kiiiids!

Of the three, which diva actress sings best? I can't say for sure. I could do a without having to hear Gloria again. Why couldn't they sing Bohemian Rhapsody every night. That's like every song in one song! I'd never get bored of that. The Gloria song is spun so much we can't even make a drinking game off of it; you'd be in the hospital or dead - even if your beverage of choice was water.
