Dramabeans at NY Comic Con

Here it is: the perfect opportunity to put to rest the Clark Kent/Superman theories about javabeans and girlfriday. Yup, you guessed it. A public appearance. For real. In person. There will even be plenty of comic book experts around for backup on the Superman mythos, and the rules of defying the space-time continuum.
We’ll be on a panel hosted by the lovely people over at DramaFever, about Asian entertainment and pop culture. We have a sneaking suspicion that they want us to talk about K-dramas. Just a hunch.

Enjoy a discussion about what’s hot coming out of Asia today with panelists Jeff Yang, “Asian Pop” columnist at the San Francisco Chronicle; Joyce Lan Kim, CEO of Soompi.com; Javabeans and Girlfriday of Dramabeans.com; Jackie Sia, Content Manager of DramaFever.com; and Samuel Jamier, chief curator of the Japan Society’s Japan Cuts Film Festival. David Hou of DramaFever.com will moderate a discussion about the current trends of Asian entertainment and artists in the United States today.

Being invited in the NY Comic-Con feels like Dramabeans' influence on the spread of Kdrama love and awareness in America is significantly huge and important! JB, GF, I am sure you will do great, and provide fascinating and intelligent input in the panel!
I wish the announcement was out a bit earlier so I can switch my workdays around. I am totally willing to fly over to NYC (another excuse for a vacation) and meet JB and GF in person! I work in a hospital so it is tricky to change schedules once it is "published" by my manager.
CONGRATULATIONS again! This is super exciting for the people who can go and meet JB and GF!

I have a question maybe you can answer. I went to check out the tickets ordering and saw that the time listed for Friday Oct. 8 (open to public) is from 1pm-7pm. You guys' event starts at 8:30pm? Does that mean that the ticket ordering page's time is incorrect and that it actually stays open later?

I think the 1-7pm time frame is for the main floor--the giant arena with booths and whatnot. Unfortunately, to get to the panels, you have to get a pass for that day, even if you're not going to partake in the main festivities, because you have to get through that, to get to us. On the upside, the pass gives you access to all panels and such, for that day. I dunno who makes the rules, but that's how they roll.

It was the 1-day pass that I was looking at. It's listed as $30 for Friday's date.
On the side was the time schedule and for Friday from 10am-1pm(professional hours), then 1pm-7pm(open to public.
I just want to make sure I'm getting the right ticket because I don't want to miss you guys.

its a bit confusing but only the big wigs can get into the con from 10a-1pm than it is open to the public starting at one.
i got my tickets a yr in advance [ this will be my fifth yr going] just to remind you ticket prices will be higher at the convention. [ this is why there was a pre-sale with discounted prices that lasted till sept 10] what may be 30 dollars now online could be 40 at the convention. panels can last way through the night. the dealers room will be closed at 7 but the panels will still be going on. Enjoy if you are going. and bring your own food and beverage the food prices can make your heart bleed. [ if all else fails mcdonalds is about 5 mins away walking]

It sounds like an awesome event. I've always wanted to go to comicon. I'm not sure if it's always held in the same cities, but I know they've had a lot of it in SoCal. Maybe the same panel will be available in the West Coast? My husband has to hear about my drama obsession repeatedly. He even had to endure my yelling and screaming when T.O.P. was on Music Core the other day.
For all the peeps in the West Side, is there a cable provider that has both MBC and KBS? I only get MBC through AT&T Uverse.
Take lots of pics JB and GF! Any way they can film the panel or at least have a podcast of it available?

y'all live in nyc or you're flying out there? oh man! if i weren't goin' outta town that weekend, i'd totally hop on a bus to NYC just to hear your thoughts on asian entertainment. i seriously love this blog- even though i only watch maybe 5% of the dramas on here, the recaps that you two post are awesome- you're so insightful, in how you recap storylines, almost as if you were writers yourselves. are ya'll going to do a recap on this event too? (can you recap your own talk?) =) i fo sho would read that too!
