Cha Tae-hyun considers his first historical film

Box office megastar Cha Tae-hyun is considering taking on his first sageuk, described as a Joseon-era Ocean’s Eleven. Interesting. But, um, why’s everything gotta be crossed with Ocean’s Eleven? It’s a romantic comedy, but crossed with Ocean’s Eleven! It’s Star Trek-meets-Zoolander-meets-Ocean’s Eleven! Okay, wait. I might actually be excited if they made that one.
Is it the new Pulp Fiction of homage-land? I once took a film class where literally every single project’s pitch was: Pulp Fiction-meets-True Romance-meets-Third Equally Ubiquitous Film Here. Not that I’m not excited at the prospect of a Joseon-era heist movie with eleven hot guys in silken robes. That actually DOES sound kinda awesome.
The project is called (quite aptly) Vanish With the Wind [바람과 함께 사라지다], and I’m curious to know a few things, like: What will they be stealing? Will it be super-fusion stylized? And how many hot co-conspirators can we get on this cast? It doesn’t need to be eleven, but if you’re going to cite Ocean’s Eleven as your inspiration, anything under seven is weak. Just sayin’.
Cha Tae-hyun is currently shooting the horse racing movie Champ, and once he wraps that project in late April, he plans on going straight into this one. Though nothing has been finalized, the distributor for Vanish With the Wind is Hello Ghost‘s New Entertainment, so I’m sure they offered him bucketfuls of cash to keep their string of hits…well, a string of hits.
Cha’s latest film Hello Ghost has sold over 3 million tickets, and was the 9th top grosser of 2010. His 2008 film Speed Scandal was the number one film that year. Apparently, the midas touch isn’t always a curse.

No , is not a good actor. CTY is a very good actor . He can make even a not so special role special -he goes from comedian to serious to pathetic to a bumbling guy tomentally challenged to a wealthy brat . Even the current drama Protect the Boss -no offence to Ji sung's fans I can imagine CTY can be the bratty lead actor .He'd be perfect there !

I enjoyed Speedy Scandal and recently watched My Sassy Girl, so I'll watch him again. I'd also like to see hot guys in silken robes. :D

Cha Tae-Hyun is NOT HOT.
As a person. I mean, once he starts to act that's when you notice him. :P
Anyway, from the title, I'd expect it to be something like "Gone With the Wind". No?
PS If they need to cast 11 actors, can we please have Yoo Ah In back in all his facial hair glory? Thanks!

I didn't go with "Gone With the Wind" because it's not, you know, THE Gone With the Wind. Unless it's some strange Joseon-era-thief-meets-Scarlet-Ohara parody, in which case, your title is WAY better.

a movie with Lee Jang Jae, Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Hye Soo...idk if they started filming but I think the cast has been confirmed and will probably release sometime this year too....for me somehow the Cha Tae Hyun one seems more interestingwith the sageuk and comedy factors added

haha, I like Cha Tae-hyun but I wasnt that much of a fan of Ocean's Eleven.

He does! He's an actor/singer. He debut first as an actor and later as a singer. I'm sad that he isn't singing anymore because I love a lot of his songs as well as his singing.

Ooh, sounds interesting. I just saw Hello Ghost, and Cha Tae-hyun was absolutely fabulous! I could see why it was a hit, and I'm looking forward to his future projects.

Why only movies??? i wanna see him in dramas, he is soooooo good at that. I fell in love with his acting in Prince's first love, he was cute , romantic, and adorkable...in flowers for my life is the same (cough cough at the beginning =( )

I love of our favorite actors/actresses kind of move away from dramas once they hit the big screen. I do agree that I wouldn't mind him in another drama, but there was a rumor that some actress didn't want to co-star with him on a drama and so he either decided to not take on the drama or the big honchos decided to cut him from the casting. X(

OOOH. My first kmovie encounter a.k.a My Sassy Girl. He was awesome in it. :) He always seem to be the one who is quite the charm (no pun intended) that once you watch him in his element, you'd be more interested to watch his other shows. At least, that's the case for me.

Cha tae hyun is a fantastic actor. All of his movies is famous and make a hit. His movies always be in box office. I'm big fans of him. I like all his movies and I'm looking forward to his next movies and dramas. Love cha tae hyun!
