Happy Friday to all....

Can't wait for next week for 49 days...never been this excited since the great dramas of 2010 were airing. And May..wow with all the new shows, I have to take note of my schedule..lol

For the next two weeks, it will be quite busy...Easter and my daughter's birthday. So many things to do.

Anyways, I just had a marathon last week of shining inheritance...and I was like, what did I do 2009 that I miss this drama? Then I realized that my youngest was born around that time so was catching on sleep...lol

I just got sucked into the Target spend-hole and bought like way too many pajamas. PAJAMAS!?! I did not even go there for pajamas.

Now I am sure gonna look real fly for my late-night k-drama watching. Noona Killers, appreciate.

Watched the first two eps of The Manny last night and whoa! It's pretty good! But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the little kid that plays the son. OMG this kid is so. freaking. killing. me. He is probably the most adorable child in the world. Korea really has the whole superb child actors thing on LOCK.

*Romance 101*

Like a mirage in the middle of the desert, seems like finding love is akin to: Making a rock bleed, or finding roses at the bottom of the ocean.

Why is it that the concept of love, or loving some one, or something, seem to have lost its meaning in our modern society, or at least the emphasis is not where it should be.

Whether we like it or not, whether we accept it or not, love is a learned behavior, we are not born with an “I love you gene,” on the other hand we are not born with a “me” gene. From the moment we are born the whole world revolves around ones self, for the people who have children you know what I am talking about.

Children are “selfish” by nature they need to be constantly told that they need to share, we only need to see them in a small group to notice how self centered kids really are.

In our modern society's consumerism, has made an art of self importance paramount above all things, we need to wear the latest clothes, drive the latest car, and be seen using the latest electronic gadgets, get the right education, and find the “Proper” intimate partner.

And the key word here is “find , or get,” the emphasis us put not in what I can contribute, but in what I can get out of the whole equation. There is no wonder why divorce is rampant in Western societies, but I can assured you that if divorce was legalize at this time, all around the world, we will see the same problem, that now exist in the West.

Unfortunately, the primary teachers that we have in interpreting the concept of “love,” or giving, and sharing comes from our “Parents,” and if we are honest 99.99 % of all our parents, they are flawed human beings, most of us at the end of the day will behave a lot like our parents, when it comes to love and friendship, but we need to remember the “Me” clause, we also have a subjective free will, and we may end up behaving, almost completely contrary to the way our parents behave.

So “nature and nurture,” still at play in our life's. I commented before on the concept of “Fated Love,” or the proverbial OTP, and while this concept is really cool, I still believed that: Fated love, and multiple love's do co-exist in the same plane, but that is only part of my argument.

The way we view love has been skew also by the way, religion, philosophy, and in modern times the “mass media,” teaches the way to love.

By the way most ancient religions subscribe to the notion of “arrange marriages,” the concept of “romantic love,” is a latter addition to the equation, and the debate of which is better still remain till this day,

Sex is not Love, but you can have sex without love, and love with out sex, and also the “ideal one”, love that includes sex.
Marriage is not Love, but you can have marriage with out love, and love with out marriage, and as above the ideal one
marriage that includes love.

The English language is one of the most problematic ones when it comes to the way we express this feeling, since the word love is very constrictive by way of its usage in a “general sense”, I can say that I love pizza, but that does not mean that I want to marry my slice, if you know what I am talking about, on other languages we have scores of different words to express the concept of liking without having to used the phrase “I love.”

I am like the rest of the world, I crave intimacy and the feeling of being love by someone else, but I cannot take the way love, sex, and marriage, is portray in most movies or dramas, as a “Replacement for the real thing.”

I have had the chance of having different “intimate partners,” and I can say that I have felt deeply for some of them, but there is only one person that I can honestly say that I have “Truly Love.” in a romantic sense.

Most movies or dramas, show a very skew picture of what “loving another Human being.” is really all about. In my book wrist grabbing and pulling, kissing some one with out consent, holding someone down in a bed against their will, slapping somebody, belittling someone with words or actions, is not “Romantic” at all, but some how many woman find this actions to be a sign of Love, or romance, and my question has always been: Where do this woman learn that treating a person in those manners is loving or romantic? And the answer is simple, from their “familial, religious, philosophical, or cultural background.

My Grandma always told me; “Son is always better to be alone than in Bad company,” I am amazed at how people easily get in bad relationships in search for “Love,” I am not perfect, and I will admit that in the past I had real, bad, bad relationships that almost destroy my life, but if there is something that I learn is this:
Quote “ 1 Corinthians 13
1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

As you can see the most important part of the equation is not whether someone can “Love Me.” but rather in my ability to “Love others.”

When I was a tiny little girl, I got the greatest gift in the world: good parents. I was not born to these people, but they sought out a daughter and out of all the girls in the world, they chose me. I did not share the same race, religion, socio-economic background, or even political opinion as they did but they took me in, fed me, clothed me, educated me, and loved me more than anyone on the planet has ever been loved before. I have no idea why I got so lucky, but I have been grateful for it ever since.

They set an example in front of me to love others despite their short comings, and they expect me to follow that example every day of my life. Without them, I know I would have a very bad opinion of true love, of the male gender in particular, and of what being a woman is in general.

What I want to say through all of this though is that it still takes two. You can love someone completely and totally, sacrifice and share and do everything possible to make that person happy and content, but if they don't want it or if they don't want to put the effort in, there is nothing that you can do to make that relationship work. Divorce may look like the easy way out to some, but to others it is a more difficult, frightening, and necessary road to travel.

That's all I want to say.

Hi, Lady brookeeve!

I will agree with you, but only to a certain extant.

I do believe that in order to be in a "proper romantic" relationship, it requires 2 or more individuals, but the basic premise of dispensing love to "all," be human's or the rest of the natural word, is not, and should not be dependent of reciprocity.

By the way the " Prophet Jesus" is one of the first ones to point this anomaly in organize religion, when he said in Matthew 5:43-48: "43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

If we take the concept of Ahimsa (non violence) from "Hinduism, Buddhism and especially Jainism," we also find out that not harming or dispensing kindness, while protecting all life is beneficial to ones self, since it accumulates good "Karma".

The great problem with 'Modern Secularism", and the misinterpretation of "Good Moral Religious Concepts." is that: the secularist dogma, lowers man to the capacity of another animal fighting for survival in the circle of life, (Darwin's evolution), and we see how religion has kill many thousands lives in the "Name of Good."

But I still believed, that as humans we do have the capacity to "Love," romantically, platonically, etc, without the reciprocity factor, and our parents like you said whether for good or bad have shown us that we can be loved, for who we are, or that we are only loved if we meet some sort of quota, only to the detriment of the individual!!!!

In a less serious not, the main reason why I am liking "Twinkle,Twinkle," so much and still is the "Best Drama," is the way the writer has develop all the characters in such an organic, that one can related to the struggle that the characters are going trough in their search to find true meaning, and above all what it really means to love one another, whether a child is a natural born one, or whether the child be adopted, furthermore even if you raise a child that is not yours, and then find out that it is some one else's child.

I still highly recommend it, one of the best dramas in a long time better than 49days IMHO!!!!! : O }

TGIF!!! and I just finished a friggin' 7 hour psychiatry test! yeah! I'm done with doing Mental State Evaluations, No more having to interview people and determine their state in the Oedipus Complex( have they succesfully moved on or are they still stuck in it?) no more having to analyze the conformation of their psychic apparatus, no more having to determine their personality type, no more having to memorize pharmaceutical drugs that can help and which ones can just worsen the condition, and no more crazy obsessive psychiatry teacher that won't stop talking for four hours straight saying the same thing ten different ways...

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's not an interesting subject it's just that when you've been studying this so much until you find yourself sleeping, drinking, dreaming, eating, and breathing this so much that you feel that you know it backwards and forwards and then have to face a teacher that demoralizes you,... it kind of makes you want to either 1) kill the teacher, or 2) kill yourself, neither of which is a good answer thereby leaving you unable to resolve your anger and thus leaving you frustrated. So if you held in your anger, your frustration and your tears, the second best thing is having the exam over and done with and let the teacher nitpick over what you've done and just forget it and start your two week vacation with a clean slate.

Ok, I'm done ranting... so TGIF everybody and hope that everybody keeps on enjoying dramas and to those that are watching Can you hear my heart? Folks we're heading into the episodes that will determine if it's going to be a drama that we should keep watching or not... I'm sad because we have to say goodbye to the children... especially Little Misook and Dongjoo... so adorbs...

Ok, I've finished watching Koizora, and I have to say that I really liked and found it touching, but I found it somewhat disturbing that first he acted like a stalker, and yet there she was trusting him. then second the moment when he asked her what she wanted him to do about Saki for sending those goons to rape her (real psycho bitch that ex-gf) that if she wanted he could kill her, I felt that it went a little too far. And the fact that he thinks that HE is the one who should be the one protecting her instead of just letting her in and letting her help, made me want to scream. But having said all that, it was a really sad story that I'll probably watch again....

oh and one other thing... I think I fell in love with Seto Koji (Hiro) because of that mole on his chin... But I feel cheated when I look for pictures of him since most of them have that mole photoshopped off... It's like the time when the Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias took off his mole, I really felt cheated and regretful for his mole... ahaha it's what makes them attractive to me... I don't know why I have this weird fetish but I do, and the bottom line is: I want me some un photoshopped Seto Koji pics...

@ahjummabunny-I believe in Men.It's good but it's about 100 episodes. The subs are sporadic. The viewers in viki have to pool our Korean knowledge resources to understand it.

The leading guy...piffle I am not even shipping him.The 2nd couple-he did something unforgivable by Korean family drama standards.Considering I started this because he was in Coffee Prince. What's her name from Heroes is the self centred 2nd couple's hindrance.Apparently even the Korean viewers are saying they are sick of her.I have no choice because I am uploading for viki till the end.But man....blech.I'ts worse than a melodrams because everything gets dragged out.

Oh questions to OT.I have a spare laptop I am giving to my mum.She has been watching some KD without subs.

I am wondering...should I be a good daughter and load up all the KD I have on my laptop for her? What if I create a monster...she would go from being out all day to marathoning the dramas????

Yes? No?

Is Park Sang Mins character Nam Ki kind of cheating on his wife? That's what I got from maybe two or three episodes I did seem to watch. I was just curious because you have endured more (bless you).

Did Kim Dong Wook/Hyun Soo also see another girl? Because of what I saw, some girl slapped him across the face.

OMG no Nam Ki is the sweetest guy in the drama. We all can't stand the lead.Ergh...how can you like a guy that cheats and leaves you.Well you can...but he's so totally unethical you can't ship him.

Hyun Soo is with his ex-gf at the moment who has pulled out the 'I am pregnant with your child' plot even though she's still married and he knows but we think the pregnancy is more advanced. This is even though she told him she has got the divorce papers AFTER they she was found out.She was dropping by his house every morning during breakfast to eat with him and his halmoni. So we have a cheater(him) and a 2 timing girl.ERGH.

Ohhhhh. I figured she was an ex-girlfriend. Ew. What a plot line. Yeah, I shouldn't just watch the show at like episode 11 and then make assumptions.

Since I've only seen a few parts I'd see Nam Ki at home with his family and then he'd seem in better spirits at work with whoever he was working with, so I was like "What's with this dude, is he hitting on that girl?" I hope that sounds understandable. Maybe I want him to play a dirt bag after he was so valiant in Giant. (Supah, I was wrong. I owe you a Coke.)

Thanks for clearing that up, you saved me time ripping my hair out and cursing at this show. I still think I Believe in Love puts me on edge more. I stopped watching it, so I'm stress free right now!

Decisions, decisions.

I used to walk almost every afternoon to the library to watch kmovies and dramas. Then, my son gave me his spare laptop and now I spend too much time online lying on my bed.

My daily walks stopped and I put on some weight because of the lack of exercise. Also, I used to have low blood pressure, now I suffer from mild hypertension. My addiction is greater than my will and have no one to blame but myself because I know better.

On the other hand, she will have the chance to watch something different and learn much from other cultures and people while being entertained with stories and shows that are so different from what is broadcast in many countries.

Who knows. She might also visit forums and websites that are related to what she becomes interested in and get to meet wonderful people like the ones that visit and participate in dramabeans and share her thoughts and perspectives.

When I started watching Asian dramas, I yearned for a viewing buddy to comment on the latest episode of whatever I was into. Fortunately, I found many buddies in this website.

About "Thorn Birds" from KBS global.
JE & YJ first kiss scene.
Han Hye Jin & JSW are completely immersed in their characters, shyly performed the kiss scene as JE & YJ, 2 pure people who have tough lives share their first pure love kiss that moved the watching members of staff.

Are you watching it unsubbed?
My Korean is not good enough to understand much more than the barest of conversations.

I am so far behind compared to what has aired!

I love the OTP; I love how he is falling in love with her against his will but not against his reason. They are a good pair. I FF the raws to their interactions and try to guess what they are talking about, while closely watching their body language.

Sub is only up to ep 13...watched unsubbed from ep 14...cant'wait. I understand a bit...their body language, music, with superb performance convey a lot of their emotions...I like the way he keeps sneaking to look at her, she at him...her facial (emotion) change listening to "When I fall in Love" in ep 20?

Can't wait for the English sub.

It is interesting to watch these shows unsubbed. I get a lot right, but mostly I am guess. "I know they are fighting about something insignificant, so it isn't going to hurt their relationship."

As far as the song - Do you think she was thinking about him during that song WILIL? Or remembering dancing with her apa?

I know HE was thinking about her.

I like how they did the transition from her nostalgic past to the present.
The male figure in a girl's life is important to her future. Whether it is a real father, or not, or uncle or grandfather...
Being securely loved by an adult man teaches you how it feels to be loved by your future man. So they feel they "deserve" to be loved, they are "good enough" to be loved.

0

Required fields are marked *

Indeed. Thanks to the universal communication of body language...without the sub I tend to be more observant of their facial expression & body movement which helps to understand about their emotion etc.

She was thinking of her happy childhood with apa when she was just looking at the album. But I suspect with her facial expression that its probably got something about love for a man, the man in the room with her, with whom we know she's falling for, he with her. The scene of them alone & their awkward shyness & the slight annoyance to mask their true feelings, the electrifying hand touch & stares was a good built up to their kiss. I was puting myself as if to urge them, afraid one or both of them might withdraw. At last their quivering lips met!

I agree that a girl growing up needs a loving father figure relationship to help her gauge about love for a man when the time comes. She has that beautiful relationship with her apa.
