Oh My Ghostess: Episode 10

Love is in the air, but along with all of the giddy highs of romance comes a new set of complications for our lovebirds—namely that there are technically three birds in this nest. When your love triangle involves the dead, it raises some interesting questions and crosses a lot of wires, even when all of your messages are happy fluttering hearts and swoony looks.

EPISODE 10 RECAP

Sun-woo and Soon-ae walk home hand-in-hand, just soaking in giddiness. He says that even with the most delicious food, if you eat it too fast, you’ll get indigestion. He doesn’t want them to get indigestion of the heart by going too fast.

Soon-ae asks a little wistfully, “What if there isn’t much time?” and he scoffs that it’s not like she’s going to die tomorrow. She’s so happy to just sit there holding his hand that she insists on one minute longer.

Mom arrives with pastries for Sun-woo, and they jump up in alarm, barely managing to unlock their hands before she comes up to the roof. Mom wonders what Bong-sun is doing here so late, and Sun-woo awkwardly invents an errand she was here for and sends her home.

Mom catches on right away and comments on Bong-sun’s level and size, and warns Sun-woo not to even try foot-acting in front of her. She knows they’re dating and calls him out on it, but he shoves a pastry in his mouth and ignores her.

This is Mom, without pause: “Why are you changing the subject? Hey, what’s with the dog? Wait, you’re using condoms, right?” He chokes on his food, and she sits down to repeat sincerely, “Son, you have to use condoms.” I’m pretty sure Jo Jung-seok cracks up in earnest right there.

Soon-ae runs down the street to get out of there, and then wonders why her heart is still racing—is it because of Mom, or the handholding? She presses her face against her palm and swoons, which answers that.

Sun-woo insists that there’s nothing going on with him and Bong-sun, and Mom says he can call it whatever he wants, just as long as he’s using condoms. He groans and asks if she really wants to be talking about this stuff with her son, but she says it’s better than him making babies by accident. Truth. Listen to your mother!

Mom finally leaves, and Sun-woo rushes to text Soon-ae that it’s safe to come back. She’s relieved to hear that it went okay, and pouts when he says they should head inside. She mentions getting enough sleep earlier at the motel, and he gets all fired up again at the mention of the motel, and bans the word altogether.

They’re adorable as he walks her home all of five steps to her door, and then they go back and forth insisting on walking the other one home, only for them it’s one step between their doors. He finally gets her to go to bed and chuckles at her cuteness.

Mom heads home and asks Eun-hee about Bong-sun’s character and whether she dates around, and Eun-hee wonders to herself why so many people are curious about Bong-sun lately.

In the middle of the night, Soon-ae sneaks out of Bong-sun’s room and into Sun-woo’s, to watch him sleep. She lies down next to him and is actually able to touch his face, and she sighs, “You’re a ghost—how can you like him for real? What are you going to do? You’re crazy.” Ruh-roh.

She tells herself that it’s okay because she’s just enjoying the feeling of being in a relationship, though she doesn’t sound convinced.

Bong-sun comes outside to get a glass of water and runs into Soon-ae as she’s coming out of Sun-woo’s room. Soon-ae quickly says she was just wandering about because she was bored, and feels awkward when Bong-sun sweetly calls her unni.

Bong-sun says that she doesn’t see other ghosts anymore and is getting good sleep for the first time, and that it’s all because of unni.

Sun-woo comes out because he hears Bong-sun talking, and Soon-ae watches as Sun-woo takes Bong-sun into his room to put a fan together for her.

Bong-sun quietly points out that he put the propeller on backwards and reaches out to wipe the sweat on his brow, and he gets the cutest little smile as he looks at her. Soon-ae hangs back, looking dejected as she watches them.

In the morning, Sun-woo is the one sending Soon-ae little signals in front of the others, as he winks at her to meet him in the locker room. He feeds her herbs to keep her healthy in the sweltering heat, and she presses his hand to her face, calling that her best medicine.

Joon interrupts them to tell Soon-ae about a phone call for her, and looks curiously over at Sun-woo, who’s doing a terrible job of acting natural. Soon-ae picks up the phone and doesn’t realize that it’s Sun-woo’s mom on the line, and when Mom asks for her birthdate, she accidentally answers with her own, not Bong-sun’s.

Not knowing this, Medium Unni reads the fortune at Mom’s request, and says that this girl is already dead. Mom says that can’t be and tells Unni about catching Sun-woo and Bong-sun together last night, and Unni realizes that she’s talking about Soon-ae. She gets hopeful to hear that they were together late at night, but deflates to hear that they were simply talking.

Mom asks about a different birthdate for someone that Sun-woo insists is just a friend, and Unni says this one has had loss but will be happy in her second love if she meets her soulmate.

At that, Mom immediately calls So-hyung out for coffee and shamelessly grills her about her taste in men. She determines that So-hyung sees Sun-woo as a man, and would date him if he made a move. She’s probably already planning their wedding in her head.

Officer Sung-jae drops Eun-hee off at the restaurant and waits to greet Sun-woo, and happens to hear Soon-ae humming a familiar tune. He remembers her singing the same song at Dad’s restaurant years ago, and the way she’d smile to greet him.

Bong-sun does the same now, and it makes him eerily fixated on her. It continues to bother him when he’s at work, as he remembers Dad’s shoelaces tied in Soon-ae’s special way, and he looks up Bong-sun’s information on the computer.

Sun-woo is suuuuper obvious about trying to justify to the guys why he’s taking Soon-ae to the market with him, and she giggles in the car that he was the one who told her to be less conspicuous. She asks if he can drive with one hand because she thinks it looks cool, and of course clasps his free hand the moment he offers it up.

They’re so lovey-dovey at the market that the fruit stand ajumma thinks they’re newlyweds, and Soon-ae enjoys playing along. The ajumma reads faces and says they’ll have a daughter, and that their sexual chemistry is off the charts, making them blush.

Soon-ae sees Dad nearby and introduces Sun-woo, and without asking, she insists on giving Dad a ride back to his restaurant. Sun-woo is a little confused, but politely goes along.

He looks a little taken aback by the empty, shabby restaurant, and Dad says it isn’t much, but it used to be busy when his daughter was here. Sun-woo asks after the daughter, and Dad says she died three years ago.

Soon-ae puts the groceries away for Dad and notices a hose, and Dad says he bought it to make cleaning a little easier, but hasn’t been able to connect it yet. Soon-ae looks up at Sun-woo expectantly, and soon he’s crouching in the kitchen. As we saw with the fan, he’s not all that handy, and they try not to laugh at how much he struggles with the simple task.

Dad is so grateful that he insists on feeding them, and Soon-ae starts to say that Sun-woo can’t eat rice, but he stops her, not wanting to be rude. Aw, he shovels rice and stuffs his face just to be nice, and Soon-ae smiles.

Little bro Kyung-mo comes home and is happy to see Bong-sun, though he’s snappish about her being here with the star chef. He grumbles that he would’ve connected the hose himself, and asks why they’re stuck to each other, earning a silent scowl from noona.

Sun-woo and Soon-ae are so late to return to work that Eun-hee asks what happened, and they blurt at the same time that there was an accident and the car broke down, and Sun-woo is all, “There was an accident? There was an accident! There was. And what happened? Then there was traffic. And then my car happened to break down just in time.” Eun-hee raises an eyebrow at their weirdness.

Sun-woo suffers through the dinner rush on an upset stomach and heads upstairs early. Soon-ae catches him in the hallway to massage his hands, and chides him for eating two bowls of rice. They break apart when Joon walks by and Sun-woo acts like he’s scolding her, and Joon just smiles to himself, clearly aware of what’s going on between them.

That night, Sung-jae opens up his drawer and takes out the cracked cell phone that was hidden away, and in flashback we see a man chasing a woman who looks a lot like Soon-ae down a dark street. She runs for her life, and then offscreen, a piercing scream rings out. Eep.

Sometime later (perhaps that same night?), Sung-jae washes up in a dingy apartment and ignores an incoming call on one of the two phones on his counter. He saunters over to the bathroom casually, where a woman’s body is lying on the ground. Shiiit. All we see is her feet, but they aren’t moving.

Back in the present, Sung-jae contemplates the phone and then takes out a suitcase that’s filled with scary serial kidnapping and/or murder gear and broken security cameras, and tosses the phone inside too. I can’t believe he keeps this stuff lying around his house.

Sun-woo squirms like a big baby when Soon-ae gets ready to prick his finger to relieve his indigestion, and she asks why he ate two whole bowls of rice. He says that it was the polite thing to do in front of an elder, and he felt bad for the ajusshi, who had such sad eyes when he talked about his daughter passing away.

Soon-ae is so touched that she just stares, and he guesses that she’s fallen for him again. He insists on going with her to the drugstore: “What if there are ghosts?” Soon-ae: “Oh, gho…sts…”

He’s feeling better by the walk back, so she requests more handholding. He’s only happy to oblige, and looks a little sad when she breaks contact to run over to a playground. He chases her around, and then makes a big fuss when she trips and falls.

He sits her down to check her foot and treats her so tenderly that she swoons all over again. He wonders why she’s staring, and she replies, “Because I like you. I like you so, so much.” There’s a long beat as they look at each other without saying a word, and then they sit on the swings together, holding hands.

Soon-ae thanks him for all the things she’s been able to do for the first time because of him, like holding hands with the person she likes, or playing in a playground like this, or going on a trip like their staff retreat. He asks what else she’s never done before, and she names things like going to the amusement park or Namsan Tower.

She says that she was too busy to do anything but work, and she thanks him so sincerely for all her new experiences that he darts up and declares that they’ll go on an overnight trip.

She asks why he changed his mind when he was so against her trying to jump him before, and he half-mumbles an admission: “I changed my mind. I want to go on a trip with you. I’m not going to hold back anymore, so you’ve been warned.” It’s her turn to be stunned silent.

Sun-woo looks up hotels in his room that night and wonders if it’s too presumptuous to make a reservation now. He’s so excited about it, hee.

Meanwhile, Soon-ae is in a very different mood on the other side of the wall, and leaves Bong-sun’s body to go visit Medium Unni in the middle of the night. She terrifies her awake, of course, being a ghost and all, and tells her about the trip with Sun-woo.

Unni thinks that’s good news, but wonders why Soon-ae looks so sad about it. Soon-ae doesn’t understand it either—tomorrow she could get what she’s been wanting all this time and finally resolve her grudge and move on…

Soon-ae: “But I’m not happy. Unni, I like Chef so much. The things he says to me, the way he looks at me, the way it feels when he holds my hand—they’re all things I’ve never felt before when I was alive. They’re so warm, and I feel like my heart is softening.”

Unni gasps, and Soon-ae quickly answers, “I know. I’m not Na Bong-sun. I’m just borrowing her body. But… but… it makes me so upset. Why didn’t I experience any of these things when I was alive, instead of when I’m dead?”

Unni cuts her off in a grave tone: “Get it together. Do you know what the most dangerous thing is to a ghost? It’s feelings. You think you’re a person and hurt and feel sad, and happy. And that’s where greed comes from—the greed to remain among the living, even as a malevolent ghost!”

She warns her that malevolent ghosts are not the same as her—they never disappear and wander forever, stuck amongst the worst of people, causing evil. Unni clasps Soon-ae’s hands and begs her to steel herself and resolve her grudge, and move on to a better place. Tears fall as Soon-ae nods, knowing that Unni is right about what she has to do. Unni comforts her and hugs her close, and Soon-ae cries into her shoulder.

Soon-ae is subdued at work the next day, even when Sun-woo whispers his plans to get them out of here as early as possible today. Min-soo chooses today of all days to insist on a staff night out, and Sun-woo has to say no so many times that he ends up snapping at him.

Soon-ae takes the morning to go see Dad, thinking that it’s her last day here as a ghost. She shows him how to do stuff more efficiently in the restaurant, and he picks up on the fact that she’s acting like they won’t see each other for a long time.

She tamps down her tears and says that she just might be busy for a while and can’t come as often, and he promises to do as she instructs. She thinks to herself that she might never see him again, and Dad should stop thinking about her and be healthy and happy with Kyung-mo now.

Sun-woo’s mom is surprised when Medium Unni springs for an expensive lunch, which is just her way of alleviating her guilt about Sun-woo. Mom makes sure that she isn’t moving away because she doesn’t want to lose her only girlfriend, and Unni admits to liking her too. Their friendship is so cute.

Unni says aloud in her vague way that she does feel bad because “it” is with a ghost, “But it’s not like doing it once will make it fall off,” and that they’ll think of it like giving a temple offering. LOL. Of course Mom has no idea that she’s talking about her son.

Sun-woo makes sure to close early and tells Soon-ae to pack and meet upstairs. He notes that she seems quiet, and when he guesses that she’s just so excited that she can’t express it, she goes with that.

But she looks sad when she’s alone, and has to pep-talk herself into packing and going on the trip. She knows she has to stick to her original plan and go, but she wars with herself for wanting to stay just a little longer.

Sun-woo gets delayed when Mom calls him drunk, and he asks Soon-ae to meet him at the train station. She sits on the rooftop thinking back to all the things she’s experienced with Sun-woo, from their first kiss to their first handhold, and decides to put one foot in front of the other.

Sung-jae watches as she leaves and then creeps up to the roof, where the dog barks at him aggressively. If he IS possessed and dogs can see ghosts, it would explain the encounter with the last dog (you’d better not hurt this one!!).

He roots around Bong-sun’s room and finds all of her ghost-warding paraphernalia, from scythe to strings of garlic, crosses, talismans, and ghost-warding beans. He throws them angrily, perhaps having connected all the dots between Soon-ae and Bong-sun.

Sun-woo arrives at the bar to pick Mom up, only to find her totally sober. It’s not even a surprise anymore that she lied about that, but then So-hyung arrives too, and Mom invents an excuse to leave them alone. Moooooooom.

So-hyung suggests a walk on their old college campus, and tells Sun-woo that she actually saw him first when they were in school, but he seemed so uninterested in her. She wonders if maybe they were so comfortable around each other and so used to each other that she didn’t know her own feelings.

He tries to cut her off, but she asks to speak first, knowing that she might not be able to get it out. But he cuts her off anyway since his news has to come first, and tells her that he has someone special in his life.

She can guess that it’s Bong-sun without having to be told, and gets embarrassed at the rejection, wondering how she’s going to face him from now on.

Sun-woo takes a moment to call Soon-ae because he’s late to meet her at the train station, but she doesn’t answer. She’s actually still sitting in the playground in their neighborhood, purposely ignoring the call because she thinks he’s at the station looking for her.

She stares down at her phone and apologizes for not going: “But today isn’t the day. I can’t go like this. I know it’s selfish, but just a little longer… a little longer.”

She comes back home and calls out to Sun-woo, ready for him to be mad at her, but then he arrives behind her and starts apologizing profusely for not showing up. He assumes that she left her phone behind and waited for him, and she doesn’t bother explaining that she didn’t go either.

He makes it up to her by cooking her a fancy steak dinner, and tells her that he’ll always cook whatever she wants to eat. She says that what she really wants is fried intestines, and he cringes, but agrees to do it if she’ll forgive him for tonight.

He promises to make her feel like they went on a trip anyway, and pitches a tent up on the roof. He tells her about being with So-hyung earlier, and that he told her that he was dating someone.

Soon-ae is surprised, and he admits that he’s been dragged around by those feelings for a really long time, and letting go feels like a relief. He turns to her and adds, “What I’m saying is, you have to take responsibility for me. You’re dead if you abandon me.” I love that reversal that he asks HER to take responsibility.

She reaches out to touch his face, and he brings her hand up to his lips to kiss her gently. He kisses her softly on the lips before leaning them down into the tent, where he lies down on top of her and starts to unbutton his shirt. He reaches down to unbutton hers, and she squeezes her eyes shut nervously.

COMMENTS

Ack, this conflict is getting sticky with Soon-ae falling so head over heels for Sun-woo, though it makes sense that she would, not only because of the way he’s treating her, but because of everything she gets to experience for the first time with him. She died so young and her biggest regret is not doing everything she wanted to while she had the chance, so it seems true to character that her feelings are tied to now being able to enjoy life the way she’s always wanted to. The problem is that she’s starting to confuse borrowed time and borrowed body for her own when she’s already dead. And the more that she prolongs staying in Bong-sun’s body, the more it seems like she’s stealing someone else’s experiences to cling to life.

The danger of a ghost having feelings seems to capture all of that, because as Unni told her, the greed to stay among the living is what will turn her very nature into something malevolent. She’s already inching towards that dangerous line by knowingly prolonging her time here, even if she’s told herself that it’s just a little longer. I believe that her feelings are real, which makes one side of this love triangle really bittersweet, but there’s a definite conflict in now sharing a body with Bong-sun if she’s feeling jealous when she’s not possessing her. It’s enough to create a crisis of identity for her, because she has to keep reminding herself that she isn’t Bong-sun, and that this isn’t her life she’s living.

I do wish that the show would balance Bong-sun’s time with Sun-woo a little more, but I’m not as conflicted about his feelings because he sees Soon-ae and Bong-sun as one person. The fact that he misses her blog updates or looks at her the same way whether she’s possessed or not is enough to tell me that he’s not only in love with her when she’s Soon-ae. I just regret that Bong-sun isn’t there for the grand confessions, because I don’t want it to feel like she missed out on her own relationship.

Soon-ae’s angst is very compelling, and I’m certainly rooting for her character, but I don’t want her to ignore the fact that Bong-sun is the one with a whole life ahead of her. Plus I really want her to shift her focus to her own death (which seems to involve a truly terrible series of violent crimes by Sung-jae, gack), not only for her own sake, but to make sure he gets put away for good. Frankly the conflict is richer when Soon-ae’s feelings complicate the romance, so it’s not like I dislike where the story is going—there’s just more danger in how it plays out when loving Sun-woo back means that she could lose sight of the fact that this life isn’t hers to live. I trust that she’ll stop herself from crossing that line, but it’ll probably be a painful process. I guess acceptance is always the hardest part of death, even when you’re the one who’s dead.

Great points you've raised, JB. I have no complaints about this show though unlike a few others. I love all the characters because they're all wonderfully written and acted. PD & OST's good too.

Creepy Sung-jae would feel right at home with the other creepy guys in I Remember You (which I also love).

I really love Park Bo-young and rewatched Speedy Scandal the other night and watched her guest stint at 2D1N. Hope she does more TV shows in the future but with her busy movie schedule she might get sick like she was in 2D1N. Gaaah! She's so cute and I'm sort of shipping her with Jo Jung-seok and imagine her being BFF with Kim Seul-gi who's also so great.

Same. I'm really enjoying this show, especially the interactions between the two leads, regardless of whether BS is possessed or not.

I guess some people take dramas much more personally than I do. For instance, even if a drama moves in a direction that I personally don't like, I wait to see how that problem/obstacle is resolved before I start complaining.

I totally agree with Sky...

She did give permission for a ghost to occupy her body, and she is now missing a lot on the relationship.

Also it occurred to me that what if after sleeping with SW, only to realise that wasn't her main grudge after all, as she's still frolicking around but to find her killer?? Mmm?

don't really get people getting mad because of bong sun having less screen time. I mean, have you read the sneak peak plot? It clearly says 'a ghost possessing a human body' or something like that but close to that. So you should've expected that it's going to be SOON-AE-BONG time. It would be amazing if chef ended up with SOON-AE but then she's dead so I was thinking that maybe he did FALL for SOON-AE but she needs to ascend but he still loves her you know? Not everything in kdrama world is happy happy (let's all remember stairway to heaven and autumn in my heart) I respect all your opinions though so maybe respect mine too? Haha. I just want to tell people that possessing the body is kind of the main idea of this story? You know? It's the thing that made it a good story and different from 'The Master's Sun'. Hope you understand me haha. Still thinking that Chf likes SOON-AE sorrynotsorry. But.... Let's get to the acting point here.... PARK BO YOUNG NAILED IT! But c'mon, KIM SEULGI IS AMAZING TOO!
SOON-AE & SUN-WOO SHIPPER HERE AND ALSO CORDON & BONG-SUN mehehe

"The ajumma reads faces and says they’ll have a daughter, and that their sexual chemistry is off the charts, making them blush."

Maybe when Sun Woo and Bong Sun get married in the future and have a family, Soon Ae will be reborn as one of their children. :-) Is this a hint writer-nim? *wink*wink

Because you'd want the guy you kissed with and wanted to have sex with (or had sex with, depending on what happens) to be your father???

Sorry, but that's just icky.

Some people believe, that in their past life, or next life, their souls will meet again. But their roles might change.

Daughters and mothers can change their place, and mother turn into child and child turn into mother of each other souls in their next life.

My mother always says, that maybe she was my child in our past life, so in this life I came as her child to compensate our past lifes LOL LOL

Sisters and brothers can also came in their next life as mother and child, and vice versa. The thing is, our souls are always connected somehow in our past and next lifes...

Thx for the recap as always~
I think it'd be a perfect ending if SA becomes SW/BS's daughter when SA leaves this world... an afterlife.
Awww... that kinda reminds me of a old old TVB (cantonese) drama where a Chinese ghost/god from the Romance Department gotta come down to Earth to fix one of the 'red string' she ruined only to fall in love with the main lead and the main lead loves her back too~

After watching this episode, I'm sooooo friggin' nervous. Biting nail level of nervousness. We're sorta down to the wire even though we DO have 6 episodes left. But I feel like SO MUCH development still needs to take place.

-There has been zero indication that Soon-ae is curious about her death at all, or that she's getting inkling vibes from Sung-Jae that he's evil as heck.

-Soon-ae hasn't been showing that she has much care for Bong-sun. We DID see a (very) few scenes of them together, but just doesn't feel like enough for me to think they have a bond going on. I really liked it when Bong-sun calls Soon-ae Unni. I was hoping that would spark some guilty conscience and place alot more doubt in her own actions. So while I understand the scene she shared with Shaman Lady, saying how she's afraid about her developing feelings, but it's all about Sun-woo. I WISH she had said something about Bong-sun as well.

-Bong-sun needs to show up more often. My WORST fear is to have her development with Sun-woo happen off-screen in a 'one year later'. I NEED Bong-sun's food blog to happen again, and more than once! I neeeeed to feel a connection between Bong-sun and Sun-woo.

'Cause what struck me as odd now with Bong-sun is how open she is now. Like... HOW? WHY? Just because Soon-ae's in her body? And it... rubbed off? How many times have they conversed with each other at all? Are we suppose to assume that they've been bonding off-screen? Then why doesn't Soon-ae seem to care about taking her friend's body and only voices her concern with feelings for Sun-woo?

Drama Gods, again, PLEASE do not mess this up! You can still redeem yourselves! Yes, I love the drama so much, I'm willing to pray for it! LOL!

Thank you so much for this recap, Girlfriday!

Okay, so Sun-woo wants the relationship to be nice and slow and warns about having "indigestion" and stuff and here he is unbuttoning his shirt after all of 24 hours, hee. Not that I'm complaining (goodness, no! Not complaining at all).

This show has full of heart, I can actually feel what Soon-ae is feeling - the love that she feels for Sun-woo, the jealousy or maybe envy?, the sadness, the dilemma of staying for "a bit longer" or just getting it over and done with and leave. Although she's feeling "greedy" right now, I know that she would realise that it's not her life to live as she has shown when she stepped back while having that Kiss with Sun-woo, letting Bong-sun feel the kiss herself. She's shown that she has a deep regard for Bong-sun, who is actually now her bbf. She might even do it again this time in the tent, then Bong-sun would freak out in the middle of Sun-woo unbuttoning her shirt...

The problem right now is how Soon-ae could remember how she died. What exactly are the rules? She remembered her father after seeing him, she also remembered Sung-jae (as being her crush) but why is it that she couldn't remember him attacking her? Why, I wonder...I am sure it is not because she died a virgin that she still lingers. The grudge to be resolved is probably that everybody knows that she committed suicide when in fact she was murdered. She couldn't leave because of the pain it caused her loved ones, especially her father who couldn't fathom why she did it. Also, she has this "unfinished business" of outing Sung-jae, if she was indeed the witness of the ballerina's hit-and-run accident. I just couldn't think anymore. Friday is such a long way off! I couldn't wait to watch the next episode!

Thanks for the recap! I love this show, and while there are definite issues with how they are choosing to split screen time between Soon Ae and Bong Sun, I'm enjoying its originality. I think chef is a catch and a great guy that most any girl would fall for, however Soon Ae is being insincere in allowing her feelings to get involved and starting to like him on a deeper level when that was never the plan. She notices these changes and keeps them hidden from Bong Sun because she needs her body and exploits it for her benefit. It's sad that she died so young but in all truth that is not Na Bong's fault and she can't go around being greedy for someone else's life.

All Bong Sun really needed was the push, the little confidence boost that came from not being constantly attacked by scary ghosts and finally getting enough sleep to rejuvenate. I think that people forget the scene with Soon Ae and the confrontation with that ghost in the restaurant who tried attacking her despite the fact that she was in Bong Sun's body. Even with Soon Ae facing that baddie it was still overwhelming and she is a ghost herself, what then does that say about Bong Sun who's a frightened human being unable to keep herself awake nor stop seeing said ghosts? Moreover who would actively pursue a relationship given this situation?

Particularly it doesn't help that Bong Sun had no sure-fire way of dealing with the ghosts; all of her ghost catching paraphernalia are null and void. As seen first when Soon Ae was pulling the luggage around with no consequence, and then in episode 10 when the evil spirit in Sung Jae casually goes through her things and touches the items unharmed, Bong Sun is really not well equipped to take on these ghosts. I'm sorry but people saying that Na Bong is at fault for not pouncing on chef are unrealistic, the girl had a lot going on! She's working to support her family and hardly has time for herself, plus chef is her boss. It isn't like Bong Sun has no interest in cooking, she enjoys it, and should a relationship with chef blow up she would have stood to lose more. Things would have been awkward and strained at work not to mention her being out of a job and unable to sustain herself. Who would risk everything for a crush, especially when your life is as unstable and you're barely holding on/staying awake?

The only reason Soon Ae is so forceful is because of the threat of becoming a malicious spirit that's constantly hanging above her head, which eliminates her inhibition. Plus she's dead and has so much less to lose, cue past scenes with her taking over other women's bodies without so much as a thought to their lives and how they would go on after she had achieved her goal.

Moreover Soon Ae is in Na Bong's body and if nothing else, chef is attracted to her physically and the cuteness she exudes. This is a cuteness mind you that Na Bong is well capable of creating as seen with the working out scene as she quietly cheers him...

...on and boosts that ego of his, and later in episode 10 after he fixes the fan and she gently wipes at his sweat. He's bold and cocky and Bong Sun tempers his personality with her quiet sweetness. The biggest secret as someone mentioned above is just how little Na Bong actually needs Soon Ae and to me all that the other girl represents is the slight push that Na Bong was lacking.

It is important to keep in mind that the situations are different for both girls and that they each have individual life complications. Things are not so black and white for us to be able to say that Bong Sun would never have gotten chef if Soon Ae hadn't taken over because there are simply more factors involved. Arguably Soon Ae would never have gotten close to chef without Bong Sun's body, after all she is the one working for him and has the advantage of proximity. In the beginning chef was so strung up on PD Lee that no outside woman could have turned his head. With that said I realize that Soon Ae still gave the push and while I appreciate it, it doesn't make her the sole owner of this relationship.

I want both girls to be happy but I'm ultimately rooting for Soon Ae to find peace and Bong Sun to take power back over her body. I'm not a fan of the lies and I need them to stop switching back and forth ASAP and for Bong Sun to be the only girl involved with chef. There's little that can be done about the bad beginning or dishonesty there, but they can move forward in truth from here on out.

Yes! Exactly! I was thinking ...for bs and sa to be aware of what's going on at the same time!..living it out "together". ..bs learning to be more assertive like sa by actually being there at the same time. Learning what chef is like, what makes him smile, turns him on, makes him happiest in their relationship. Most of all..for bs to be experiencing and enjoying the love of the man she crushed on so much and followed for years, as its happening with sa.
We have a number of episodes to go yet and I'm expecting some very twisted scenarios to take place before our drama's conclusion. I'm really hopeful the writers will find a very satisfying, feel good, happy ending for all of our characters.
I love this drama!
And a huge "Thank You!" for the fab recap! :)

I really really really love this drama but the only thing I'm struggling with is Sun Woo's attraction in any way, shape or form to either one of the girls - whether combined or separate as individuals. They are BOTH so incredibly annoying on their own and it's hard for me to understand why any capable man would be drawn to love them/her. Other than adorable looks and petite size, the behavior of both is over the top annoying. NOW, let me finish because I think this is the real magic of the show. Sun Woo comes with his own set of insecurities and lack of self-confidence - something so brilliantly and subtly played by Jo Jung-suk's acting that we are losing sight of the real juice in this drama. It is a slightly bumbling, unsure man coming to full fruition through the experience of being undone by the radical behavior of two women - something he has not experienced before and which is stretching him beyond his own understanding. The look of bewilderment on Sun Woo's face in many scenes is priceless. The writing of this script is pure genius and all the actors are pulling it off beautifully. Kudos to the whole crew for keeping me enthralled despite how many times I've wanted to turn it off after the "I'm sorries" and the "I want you NOWs". This is a great ride!

@ lunatic4kd

Hi there! That's a good point you're making. We are quite overthrown by all the romance and forgetting how it must be for Sun Woo who has his own insecurities, to find himself the object of so much attention. The actors are really doing their jobs above and beyond the call of duty. Now it's for the writing to become even stronger and better at giving us a consistent and compelling resolution. There's so much more to cover with Sun Woo's sister's plight when Sung Jae is outed, and with Sun Woo and Soon Ae's family once she is outed too. And of course, Bong Sun who is left with the consequences of whatever Soon Ae has done or failed to do. All this with the big reveal of what Sung Jae is all about and how Soon Ae can have peace.

I have a feeling that SA isn't a virgin and that she might have been raped and then killed.

Maybe next episode, SW's sexual actions towards her would trigger her memories of the time she had the same thing happen to her when she was alive?

I was thinking the same in terms of SA's death, there has to be a reason why as a ghost she woke up thinking that getting rid of her virginity is the way for her to ascend to heaven. However if that's the case it makes SJ even more despicable and creepy than he already is.

they really need to give NA BONG SUN character more time and development in comming 6 episode or else it will be clear that soon ae is a female lead... i don't want the show to get low.. it's annoying me.. but they should resolve this issue and should consider balancing NA BONG character and her scenes with chef more than Soon ae...

no offense, but why isn't it obvious that SA is the main character? PBY may be the MAIN actress but SA is clearly the main character. They can't just switch SW's feelings to BS's with just 6 episodes! IT TOOK 10 EPISODES TO MAKE SA LOVE CHEF!

I like the suspense, the little mysterie and mischief in this show , and goodness i admit i am not a prude , i'm a bit of a flirt too BUT...

This show had me cringing a few times with SA practically forcing herself onto chef and ripping his clothes off.
If this were a male character , people would be screaming rape, but since it's a woman, it's considered cute?
Ehhh...no, equality works both ways..you can't pick and choose, it's bad if a guy does it, it's bad if a woman does it. it's sexual harassement.

They should not go there. (SA having sex with chef while possesing BS)
Since they do not share eachothers memories.
SA letting poor chef have sex with her while in BS's body would be like allowing someone to have sex with a person you know had a roofie or special K slipped in their drink. The same as having sex with an unconscious (drunk) person. That person can not give consent.
IT IS NOT DONE!
it does not matter that BS gave her permission to get into her body to help her get chef to like her before, if the girl can't remember any of the sweet times, what purpose does it serve? and are the gonna logg out while things get hot and heavy so BS can give consent? Not to mention that girl probably did not understand the implications of it, she seems very naïve for her age and a little beaten down by life.(really, she's supposed to be 28???)
Imagine letting a friend sleep over at your house because they were temporarily homeless to find out the next morning that friend has taken over your house, is now dating your boyfriend, stole your job and let people take sexual advantage of you while you were in a deep drug induced sleep.
And everyone is applauding this behavior because your friend is "more fun".

This show and SA needs to grow a conscience on that subject.
They could take a clue from the writers of "Hyde, Jekyll, Me" on how the whole -2 personalities living in one body - should be tackled, especially the relationship parts.
I would like this show a lot better if SA and BS worked and communicated together to get chef to like BS (the real BS). Not only does she not considder BS's health and feelings (and reputation) and the possible aftermath,
but she does not know 100% certain that the sex won't kill chef, like it did with her previous victims. Considering this girl was a virgin until age 28 (? )i would say the behaviour she is displaying now is not her real character neither ( she was a flirt but obviously did not take it far).
I doubt if she were alive and not on a deadline she would still be this gung ho about doing it so fast, but it's ok now since it's not her body anyways?

Don't do it show..no!just..NO!

I wonder if Soon-ae is really dead. I've noticed in the past two episodes that she seems to be able to touch and/or move things when she is in ghost form, when she couldn't before. Maybe she is in a coma? Wasn't that the case in Master's sun? There was a time she was in a coma for a year and she walked around as ghost. I may be wrong....

I considered it too, but I doubt Sung Jae left the body in one piece. If he did not in fact drown her as the memory would suggest, I suspect that he made sure to get rid of the body. He doesn't seem like the type to leave things unfinished, i.e. going to check up on his partner to see what he remembered following the assault.

He probably made sure to kill her and it's sad because I was hoping for the whole coma spin on things if Soon Ae didn't start liking chef she could have been found, recovered and after things settle down maybe begin seeing Cordon Joon.

While I don't know much about other animals I do know that cats and dogs can sense supernatural creatures. Perhaps it has something to do with animals wavelengths or frequencies that they can tap into such as they have heightened sense of smell and hearing compared to us average humans and all.

Also another point that I want to bring up. The scene with the BiL how do we know that was a scene of sometime in the future. Can't it be possible that it was a flashback of sorts and that the dead victim was actually Soon Ae. Most probably she was Raped and then Murdered. That was her dead body and then perhaps he made it seem like a suicide ???
Again I have no proof so that is just a theory mind you at the moment.

Him with all those items. Isn't so surprising to me. A lot of criminals tend to keep such items as trophies of their crimes. Actuallly Violent Criminals. Otherwise why keep her phone when as a cop he knows that can be considered as incriminating evidence and all.

What really interests me is how he is towards his wife. It is like he actually cares about her to an extent. Whenever his happiness is threatened is the only time he becomes vicious towards those that hurt him sort of.
Also I suspect that she is his balance that keeps him sort of human but the darkness at times grows strong as well so he has to unleash it out on his helpless victims he truly is ....

Has anyone else noticed how Soon Ae can now easily come and go from Bong Suns body now. I thought that she would become stuck if she found the person with the exact frequency as her. This must mean that while they were certainly similar at one time that is not the case anymore.

Finally I want to see Bong Sun embrace her Shaman side as well and use some of her abilities as well. :) Maybe even be friends with that other one that is friends with the cooks mother and all.

Going now b4 you kill me for such a long post sorry

I wish people will speak out more how doing the deed with no permission is basically rape or sexual abuse and ugh just getting all around wrong feelings from what was described as richer conflict :( to see it defended by some too is really bothersome. Ghost or no ghost.

Am i the only one who thinks that Sung Jae is a bit reckless? Being possessed or not, his action is kinda suspicious.
(1) He hides evidence (plus soon ae's old phone) in his very own room. Yes he puts it in high place when EH can't reach but still.
(2) He attacks officer Han right after being told about repairing cctv for evidence. Decent police officer will start investigation to those he told the info to, that will include him.

I'm curious on how show will reveal the murder mystery and props to Im Johwan tbh, his changing expression really gives me chill.
Two more days until new ep, hang in there folks!!

Not necessarily. He's not human, but an evil spirit. Supposedly they can't die. It also may be that the spirit can still leave Sung-jae's body, though the drama hasn't clarified what exactly the rules are if a ghost possesses a body beyond the three years (e.g. whether they get stuck in that body or whether they can still go around but are just evil).

Long while back Sung-jae did ask Bong-sun if she had moments of "not remembering", which seemed to hint at that he was experiencing this – and which would mean the spirit comes and goes. But, I'm guessing here, nothing has been clearly stated.

Although my favorite moment was when Sun Woo “fixes” the fan because Bong Sun was there, the talk between Soon Ae and the shaman crushed my heart. I dont feel confortable watching Soon Ae living the romance that "belongs" to Bong Sun, but I dont hate her and i feel her frustation when she complains about why she couldnt live all that when she was alive. Now i want the drama to focus on the mistery of her death and more screen time to Bong Sun and a good resolution for the triangle (please just dont merge them into one or something)

This show just makes me smile. Watching a man fall in love is just too cute. I love the way they balance the triangle with Soon Ae's growth from raging hormones to her emotional growth. I truly feel for her. (Girlfriday - your Comment section was excellent - especially the last paragraph and last line.) Thank you.

As for Bong Sun not knowing everything - I feel they may not show scenes where they share information. Just my little way of accepting so much ghost possession.

Maybe, just maybe, Sung Jae killed, or thought he killed SA and after much thought threw her body into some river.

But she wasn't dead, and someone found her in the river side unconscious... and she is in coma somewhere?

Because why SJ would return to her father's restaurant ? Guilty? Don't think so.

My expectations for the next few episodes:

- Seeing Bong Sun's development as a character. I feel like one of the most important points in this drama is to show that Bong Sun has grown from the shy introverted depressed girl into someone who has more confidence in herself and to be able to love and be loved in return. I would really love to know what happened in her PAST that made her the way she is. With Soon Ae always taking over, she never has enough screen time to really show that she has developed and changed for the better. She should also learn from her mistakes with letting Soon Ae take over her body.

- Soon Ae realizing that being a virgin or not isn't the reason why she stayed on Earth, but instead to figure out what happened in her death. Hopefully, with Sung Jae suspecting Bong Sun more and more as Soon Ae AND posing a direct threat to her life, Soon Ae can see that he has ulterior motives and finally remember how she died.

- Soon Ae and Bong Sun helping each other to figure out how Soon Ae died and catching the culprit, Sung Jae (probably), together. They could get to know each other and help each other grow.

- Allowing Sun Woo to know that Soon Ae temporarily borrowed Bong Sun's body. I would really dislike it if the writers made it so Sun Woo knew NOTHING about the ghost-host exchange. He DESERVES to know that he had been lied to. I would like to see how he reacts to it all, hopefully in a logical fashion (not just blindly accepting the lie and doing nothing about it).

I feel like my expectations will lead to great disappointment BUT I really do hope that this drama doesn't end up being a doozy. I hope all my expectations (or at least some, PLEASE!!) come true. Please drama gods, drama writers, drama ghosts PLEASE!

I think there would come to a point where SW would know that he's been interacting with a ghost (dating & kissing it even!) coz it has been mentioned a few times that he doesn't believe in ghosts. So, well now he has to believe it... not to mention that his bro-in-law is possessed by one too.

first: i don't really think it's ALL that important to let BS have TOO MUCH screen time (let's remember who the main character is) BUT yes she needs to have a character development BUT letting BS have a character development isn't the MAIN POINT of this drama. sorrynotsorry.

second: i agree! she needs to know now! and leave SW (both BS and SA) for a while. SA and BS help each other to find SA's killer and then maybe in the middle of that, SW will know everything.

fourth: YES! LET HIM KNOW! so he can know who he really likes more!

it would really be fun if SW helps SA find her murderer.

I've adored this show to the point of watching episodes a couple of times. But! I was downright irritated when episode 10 ended.

When does Bong Sun get to be an actor in her own life? What about her experiencing her first love and those moments?

If the split between ghost and hostess was 50-50 or even 70-30 I might be able to accept it, but right now it's what, 95-5?

Here's to hoping, fervently, that the writer will return Bong Sun to the helm of her own life. I so want her to be brave and be loved because boy it would be a nice message. Just because you feel shy, alone and not confident doesn't make you unlovable. It doesn't mean you have to become someone else to be loved.

Wouldn't that be a nice thing to see?

@marmari

That would be a nice message to leave for us viewers rather than the 'wonky' message we seem to be getting now... where there's no disapproval for possession or using others or lying to get something.... etc... meaning that so far all this appears to be acceptable, and they are not. Morals aside, we know at another level, this is a fun story, a sweet romance (at least for the girl since the poor guy is being seriously fooled) and has an interesting plot ... We just need it to hold together and for some holes to be filled and a better end message will definitely be a boost... like:

as you have said ..."It's OK to be yourself, you are lovable as you are."

"You can get on and succeed without using another person."

"You can stand by your principles of taking things slow and not bend to pressure. It's even more deserving of respect."

"You can put others first and consider the consequences for them, even if this is painful for oneself. This is love."

"You have other ambitions in life besides being Sun Woo's girlfriend. It's ok to let the BGR (boy-girl-relationship) take a backseat for a bit and think about your grandma."

I thought that the story would include Bong Sun more and that she would be in the story more as herself without Soon Ae, but with this interesting development of Soon Ae developing emotions and feelings (that she should not have as a ghost), it seems to me now that the story first is about Soon Ae and not Bong Sun, especially GIVEN THE TITLE OF THE DRAMA, which points to a relationship between Soon Ae and Chef Sun Woo.

I think perhaps that Soon Ae's story must be resolved first, especially because she has only a few months at most to resolve her issues or she may end up a malevolent spirit. Bong Sun has, most likely, her whole life to live (and be with Chef Sun Woo). Whatever Soon Ae and Chef do or do not do together, at some point it is probable that Chef will find out about Soon Ae the ghost, and that later, if/when Soon Ae is gone, he and Bong Sun can "start over" and date and do things together that will be the first time for Bong Sun that she will experience herself, even if perhaps it is not the first time for her body.

It seemed clear to me that Bong Sun had no self confidence to approach Chef and felt overwhelmed, but with Soon Ae getting the foot in the door, so to speak, Bong Sun can stop being so nervous and apologetic but instead can let her natural sweetness and feminine side come out. This probably would never have happened, maybe with any man, without Soon Ae's help or interference (however you like to do look at it).

Chef Sun Woo in efffect said he would like a girl in the middle...basically not so timid as Bong Sun was, but not as crazy as Soon Ae can be (although of course he doesn't know it is Soon Ae).. As time goes on, Bong Sun became more confident and "datable", while Soon Ae is now, recently, becoming less frantic and more emotional. So Soon Ae and Bong Sun are not so far apart... and are both approaching the more acceptable or preferable middle (to Sun Woo) ... and both have their own charms.

It does seem to me that the show seems to be going into direction that Sun Woo and Soon Ae have or need to have a romance first. Sun Woo likes/loves Soon Ae for her vivaciousness and flirting and all of that, and that it does make him feel like he doesn't have to be so converservative when she is so eager. And whatever happens to Soon Ae, it gives her a chance to have experiences and develop as a "person", even though normally a dead person does not get this chance. (Aside from resolving her grudge... whatever it turns out to be)

But I think Sun Woo is also charmed by Bong Sun, and that he likes/loves her sweetness and quietness, a nice conservative girl with downhome values (normally), and that he could love her too, or already partly does.

Maybe I missed something, but I thought Bong Sun felt she had no chance with Sun Woo ever and would take it to the grave with her, so that she had no care that her body might sleep with Sun Woo (sex) without her in it. I think this to her (not experiencing...

Soon Ae's is by far one of the most interesting female character I have seen in kdramas. She is active, strong, can put her point across and has moral dilemmas. I think viewers are not used to seeing female characters who are not goody two shoes as the central characters and that is why she is getting a lot of hate. Added to that, people have already concluded it is BS's story when everything points to how BS is not the central character. BS n chef might end up together after SA leaves, but this is basically the story of the ghost possessing her body. BS doesn't have any other associated character other than her grandma compared to the ghost who is connected with almost everybody. More connections means more screentime. Isn't it obvious?

BS diehards act as though the chef fell in love with BS from the start. What drama were you watching? Then there would have been no need for the ghost to possess her. It is not SA's fault if BS loaned her body to her to get into a relationship with the chef. If you can't wait out the time where the other person is conflicted about his feelings, but have to use someone else to get the guy for you, you don't really deserve him too. It is not like BS is not having her moments with the chef, she is enjoying the fruits of SA's hard work and has till now, not shown any conflict about that. Being a human being, she is not bothered about deceiving the chef. So why should the ghost who is not bound by the same moral ethics be that bothered about such things?

SA's ghost is the central character. She feels conflicted about leaving the earth, that is natural. It is not like she has decided she won't leave the body for ever. Take these as moral dilemmas and not as "oh, she is so evil. When will poor BS get screentime?".

I think the majority of the viewers are basically in love with candy characters and they can't take it when a female character comes along who doesn't fit the bill. Their favourite trope is the candy getting her prince charming. These viewers would have loved it if it were the male character who was grey-shaded. Even downright abusive heroes are considered cool by the majority of the viewers. But when it is a female central character, there is a tendency to reject such characters as though women are by nature sweet, kind and are born with a moral compass. No wonder kdramas stick with the same cliched female characters who are one-dimensional, and not explore the conflicts in the female psyche.

In the case of this drama, SW is not Prince Charming. He is a flawed character who is also growing through the drama. His anger towards his mom is sort of unjustified. Yes, she didn't cook a meal for him, but it was not like she starved him. Being a single mother at a young age, it is admirable she educated herself and at the same time provided for her kids. That she had some fun at the same time doesn't make her a bad mom. When he got into trouble and was not ready to compromise, she...

When he got into trouble and was not ready to compromise, she apologized for him to save his reputation. So it is not like he is goody two shoes either. He too has moral dilemmas like the time he tried to get back at his former bully. He and Soon Ae are both complex characters with a growth arc. They help each other grow too. Sadly, the more interesting character turned out to be a ghost and not the human. So it is natural some viewers are feeling disappointed the drama will have a hackneyed ending with the not-so-interesting character getting the guy she didn't work hard enough for.

I hope the chef will realize at point BS is possessed and acknowledge SA too. SA's case is too sad. The chef does like her, but he is not even aware of her existence and she will have to fade away into oblivion without the guy who loves her and whom she loves not even knowing she existed. BS can have her happily ever after, but not SA though she too deserves it.

.....Maybe I missed something, but I thought Bong Sun felt she had no chance with Sun Woo ever and would take it to the grave with her, so that she had no care that her body might sleep with Sun Woo (sex) without her in it. I think this to her (not experiencing actual pysical loss of viginity) is a small price to pay to get Sun Woo, and in any event, if she gets him, she will eventually have her own experience as a first time even if not for her body (at least, assuming she does get her body back from Soon Ae). It isn't like she would never experience her first kisses or overnighters or making love as herself. Yes, it wouldn't be exactly the same, but she wouldn't have experienced anything that Soon Ae experienced in her (Bong Sun's ) body anyway, I assume, and if at some point Sun Woo learns that he had been with/kissed/dated/ Soon Ae in Bong Sun's body, then I think he would approach actually being with Bong Sun with feeling and sensitivity knowing that it was all new to Bong Sun herself. (This does not mean that it was the right thing for Bong Sun to do in the first place, but Sun Woo feels bad that he wasn't very nice to her originally, so perhaps they owe each other an apology and then move forward. Also, it just that it seemed like something some girls might do even if most wouldn't.)

To me it seemed like the writers have set it up that Sun Woo could be on the same wavelength (and really love) a confident Bong Sun, even if he currently is in love more with Soon Ae and her flirtatious and bubbly personality... and will probably become more in love with her now that Soon Ae is becoming more like a normal woman in love and less the frantic ghost/woman who is desperate for his "manhood" (sexual harrassment.)

Of course, Bong Sun could be too mad at both girls to want to have anything to do with either of them, once he finds out the truth... but this drama seems to be (is) a romance and not a heart-ripper, so I would expect that he would end up with Bong Sun... basically starting over.... after Sun Ae's story is over and hopefully Sun Ae is peacefully gone up to heaven or afterlife, however she gets there. I hope!

Just some thoughts. I have no idea what will actually happen in the show.

Maybe the woman at the market was predicting a daughter for Chef and Bong Sun....even if it was Sun Ae in Bong Sun's body at the time!

I'm enjoying this drama a lot, and the good acting!

we must have been on the same (or similar) wavelength, since we were both writing similar things at the same time. My post was too long to fit on one post... and I can't believe you posted in the minute I was posting the second half of my post. How funny! It is like the middle of the night here! How coincidental is that??

Good thing we are saying similar things, or it could be confusing.

Okay, to be clear, I meant that we (athoughtcloud and I) are both saying that this is mostly Sun Ae's story, and was meant to be that way.

I think all the characters are interesting, and I hope they all end up benefiting from knowing or loving each other, even if how they started knowing or loving each other was wrong (for example, the girls basically lying to/tricking Sun Woo so that he is in love with a ghost... etc).

I confess to liking "candy" too, and hope that before it ends, Bong Sun ends up with Chef... and we see their relationship start growing based on HER time with him.

If he never learns about Sun Ae, then I think that would make for a less interesting and less good of a story, and it might look like Bong Sun gets Chef partly or mostly from Sun Ae's personality and efforts, and not from Sun Ae's.

I just think he is also falling in love with both "girls", and that Bong Sun's time will come.

Poor Sun Ae is a great character, and has sucked me into her plight.

Things should get interesting....

it would be nice if SW will LOVE SA then when she goes to heaven, she'll try to love BS cause SA gave permission or whatever but he'll try and stuff to love BS then years later.... they visit her grave (after finding her body of course) and stuff OR maybe.... BS and SW will remain as friends? Oppa-Dongsaeng relationship...

I don't think Chef likes Soon Ae or he likes Bong Sun. In reality, he likes a non-existent person - the Bong Sun that HE knows is a combination of both the girls, dead and alive. That's why the only person I really feel sorry for in this love triangle is Chef. It's true that Bong Sun is the one with a whole life ahead of her, but until now, we've only really gotten bits and pieces of her life. It's quite ironic that we know more about Soon Ae, the one who's dead, and her conflict than Bong Sun, the who's really alive. From Episode 1 i've been wondering who the main character is... Soon Ae or Bong Sun? Maybe this show is really about Soon Ae's journey to the afteralife and her resolving her grudge (if she's the main character) instead of Bong Sun's path to happiness and love (since in both cases, Bong Sun's the one who's alive and who can have a future with Chef). At this point, I'm not rooting for either of the girls with Chef, and I honestly don't know where the story will go and how it'll end.

not every living thing can have a future.... just because they're the only one living doesn't mean they'll EVENTUALLY end up together. we can let chef be single? just fell for SA and when SA leaves... SW will stay single? hahaha

this is just a note to say that i am loving the comments here. this whole BS vs SA debate is so fun :D i''m sure the writers will be pleased if they knew/realised the extend of the analysis here.

let me join the party by picking a side. mr boss man loves SA, not BS. he feels pity for BS but showers SA with love, adoration and cheesy lines. her forwardness (despite annoying him a little in the beginning) captivated him.

i actually feel more for SA than BS. poor BS though. she can bite if she wants to, so why did she let SA posses her? she was perfectly capable of captivating SW on her own.

ah well, that is the end of my ramblings. i cannot wait for the weekend.

so basically, sun-woo thinks he likes one girl but is actually dating two; soon-ae is going down the slippery slope of deceiving her host and taking advantage of her naivety just so she can use her body to prolong her time on earth; and bong-sun is apparently perfectly happy to just sit back and live about two minutes of her life once a week, seeing as that's about as much screen time she's been getting in the actual drama.

tbh my main problem with this drama is that i honestly have no idea who i'm supposed to root for anymore, or if i even /want/ to root for anyone anymore. bong-sun's become a forgotten, peripheral character at this point, and i don't understand how we're meant to think that sun-woo likes bong-sun if he's barely even spent any time with her. being a fan of her blog doesn't mean that he loves her. if, in fact, soon-ae was really meant to be the female lead for this couple (which it does seem like at this point), then they should've set that up from the start - and i know a lot of people say that she was always meant to be the lead, but then why would there be all this confusion if that were the case? :( idk, i'm really disappointed. i thought a few episodes back that the drama was finally giving me what i wanted, but apparently not LOL.

As a mother, I totally approve of sun's mother's behavior. The condom talk and throwing available women in sun's path. Go mom!

I feel like there is some foreshadowing regarding moving too fast and indigestion. "Let's hold hands and go slow or we might get indigestion " (that was paraphrased) then sun proceeds to eat too much, too fast and get indigestion. So will they have sex on the rooftop and will it cause emotional indigestion?

I love love love this drama but, I want the first time they are together to be between the two sun's not with the ghost.

Oh, and that policeman is so cold it is scary.

Hold up, just a quick thought for everyone backing Soon Ae:

Let's put it like this, If two girls were friends, and one friend (the shy one) had the hots for a guy and told her other friend (the bolder girl) how much she was into him what would we expect the other girl to do? In my opinion I'd think the confident one would bolster her friend and tell her to go for it/put her best foot forward. It might be just me but how messed up would it be if that bold girl swooped in and started making moves on him knowing that her other friend was shy but still had feelings for the guy?

No, I think the majority of people would say that this is wrong, a strong violation of girl code lol and just sneaky! Why then do we rationalize it as being okay because Soon Ae is the one doing it and she has a tragic backstory? Wrong is wrong and I don't think we can make it right. Obviously this is a simplification of current affairs, a more accurate description would be that the shy and bold friends decide to work together and the bold friend gives the shy friend lines to say/pushes her into romantic and close situations with the guy. Along the way that bold friend starts to fall in love with the person of interest and things invariably get complicated with the guy not knowing which girl he's getting to know.

To me it's still clear who had feelings first and by that factor alone there should have been no question as to who gets a shot at him first. Still Bong Sun gave Soon Ae possession over her body and let her make the necessary moves, but I don't think it's right of Soon Ae to use it to her advantage; let Bong Sun know how you feel and that she should live her life confidently and go for what she wants! *Sigh* but then Soon Ae would lose her host and not overcome her grudge/become a vengeful spirit and this story would be far too simplistic.

Anywho that was just a scenario that came to mind!

Something just came to mind.
I feel that BS background as a shaman descendant would come into play in fighting against SJ/evil spirit. Remember earlier how SA's shaman unni said that her ki was no match to SJ's ki? Perhaps BS's ki is stronger and will be the one to take SJ down. Otherwise, I really don't know how they're going to defeat SJ.
Looking forward to more development on this storyline.

Yes, the one that comes to mind is 49 Days one party died and truly died. Also Ghost or Phantom 2012 did not have a love interest for the lead. Suspicious Housekeeper left it a bit vague but I think also no. However those shows were not touted as rom-coms... since this one basically is more a rom-com than any other genre, I believe the writers know there will be a hew and cry if Chef does not end up with one of the girls. Also, ... he cannot end up with So Hyung... the hew will be louder than the cry LOL!

But truly, the best solution is that he ends up with no one. Again, the best trope to use is the 2 year long hiatus. Either Bong Sun or Sun Woo should be apart long enough to know what they want of a relationship. Then by all means come back less giddy but fully able to know what one is committing to. Not as romantic but more real :)

No matter how much I want to justify the soon ae 's possession of bong 's body, I just couldn't. This fact really eritates me, don't know why.... Anyways I really hope that the won't fall for the ghost (at least completely) and falls for bong too bcoz if it ends up with chef falling only for the ghost and not bong at all, I'm gonna kick myself for watching dis drama :/ . hope I won't have to :)

The cop's ringtone just got a lot creepier in that scene with a dead body lying (presumably Soon Ae).

Whoa chef he's going in for the kill. What I don't like about this though is that it's not Soon Ae who will lose her virginity and she's not the one who's gonna get pregnant if things go awry and all she cares about is losing her virginity.

I feel like they're going a bit too slow with the mystery.

Hi, I am gonna ask such a nonsense question but I am infected by the curiosity bug, so... I was wondering if anyone can explain to me the joke that sous chef made when he offered Cordon Joon a serving of "seafood stir fry" when he showed something in his ladle? Its near 20 mins or so in this 10th episode. thank you! :)
