Kim Hee-sun considers return to the big screen in Every Day With You

Kim Hee-sun already made her comeback to dramaland in 2012 with Faith, followed by the family drama Wonderful Season, and this year’s kickass Angry Mom; but it’s been twelve years since her last Korean film, 2003’s romance melodrama A Letter From Mars. She’s currently considering an offer to return to the big screen in the new movie Every Day With You, about a cute romance between a husband and wife.

The new project will be the feature film debut from director Lee Jang-hee, who worked on Lump of Sugar and Champ, which both happen to be adorable feel-good horse movies. (What is it about horse movies? I’m such a sucker, but the animal + underdog sports movie combo gets me every time.)

Every Day With You will be about a married couple’s romance, in which the wife prepares a special romantic event every single day. Every. Single. Day? That’s a lot of romance, not to mention flowers and balloons. Hopefully she’s got more creative ideas than the usual drama hero’s bag of trick. Her husband sounds like the clueless type, because he finds himself always party to her romantic events without knowing the reason why.

I hope it’s a comedy, because I’m really enjoying watching stars like Kim Hee-sun and Choi Ji-woo embracing brighter, happier characters lately. Kim Hee-sun’s film career was mostly concentrated in the late ’90s and early ’00s when she was at the height of her popularity, but she’s a better actress now than she ever was when she was the young starlet, and I would love to see her have an even bigger career now.

Every Day With You is still casting (fingers crossed for a good costar to play Hubby!) and is scheduled for a 2016 release.

The only reason her husband is a bit clueless is because he's quite a bit younger than her, having only just graduated uni (they met in high school in very unusual circumstances involving a case of hidden identity, some shoddy building practices, and a team of fabulous, crime-fighting princesses. Don't ask).

He also has a bit of trouble getting in touch with his emotions because he had a rough upbringing with no parents, and a drop-kick for a guardian who used to beat the life out of him. So, yeah, he has a bit of a tough time connecting with the romance and feelings. Hence all the effort she goes to to be romantic every day.

That time I watched her in Jackie Chan's movie, The Myth (2005), I thought she had such an other-worldly beauty I was just mesmerised. I don't remember a thing about that movie except her unusual beauty in it.
Gotta go rewatch.

Offtopic but serious question, how can I make myself to watch Angry Mom?

Because of great praises I always here about that drama, I tried giving it a go. But I always stop halfway through episode 1. I have already watched that like 10 times. Because every time I watch I get distracted and don't feel the drama.

Argh. Anyone have that problem in starting the drama? I just feel unsettled and dislike it.

Same thing happened with Producer and I stopped watching it.

Or should I skip the first episode of Angry mom, because it seems like that episode is the problem for me. Will I miss anything if I skip the first ep?

The beginning is quiteangering. You can start with reading the recaps and watch it when you feel comfortable with the story.

@alpha, I agree with @fab♥hilleo
Skip it and read the DB recaps!
I did it with The Producers! Because I couldn't understand the jokes (it was all about some programs and idols that I don't know!). When it started to looks more like a normal drama I started to watch it (and kept reading the recaps)

I think if it's crossed out, that means the broadcasting station cancelled airing it for the week due to some circumstances :)

I feel like in Kim Hee-sun's case, life experience (especially marriage and motherhood) probably did the trick when it came to giving her something to draw on for the screen.

And it's not just her, I've seen some actors get even better after marrying/becoming parents, especially in roles where they play parents themselves. Jang Hyuk is one - he was good before, but in Fated to Love You he was great. And I really wish Kang Hye-jung could make a full comeback to the screen since I haven't seen her as a drama lead post-marriage and motherhood, and I think she'll be even better now.

"...she’s a better actress now than she ever was when she was the young starlet.."

Agreed. I couldn't finish any of her old movies. I prefer to watch her in variety shows because she is pretty out spoken and hilarious.

I think "Angry Mom" was her best work to date.

Any chance she'll work with Ji Soo again? No?

I think for the husband part, I'd love to see her with Lee Jung Jae or Jung Woo Sung. :D

Dear Gracious DarcyM...you had me at "Hello." I read that description of the heroine's husband, and I was IMMEDIATELY intrigued. **THEN** I got your joke! hahaha!

And even then, I want to see *THAT* drama. Seriously. SERIOUSLY, Dammit.

Bring it on!!! I just hope the actor opposite her is worthwhile but based on casting pairings lately, I highly doubt it. (sigh)

Which one is the right, Everyday With You or Ladies Classy? Seems like the reviews also different. I prefer Ladies Classy and Kim Hee Sun is the perfect cast for this drama.
