Kim Rae-won offered SBS’s Doctors opposite Park Shin-hye

Hm, Kim Rae-won (Punch) and Park Shin-hye (Pinocchio)? The casting for this drama is far from confirmed, but right now they’re the two leads in contention for SBS’s new medical series Doctors. I don’t know. I will totally eat my words if they end up being a good match, but when the production started out by courting Park Shin-hye and Lee Sung-kyung (Cheese in the Trap), I thought maybe they were going for something light. Courting Kim Rae-won, on the other hand, makes me think it’s going to be a serious medical drama.

The new Monday-Tuesday series comes from writer Ha Myung-hee, of High Society, Warm Words, and Can We Get Married, and tells the story of an incorrigible heroine who’s bold and distrusting of others. She’s a neurosurgery fellow, and she’ll go up against an unfair social hierarchy within the hospital as she overcomes her stubborn ways to become a good doctor.

Lee Sung-kyung is up to play her rival, a neurosurgery fellow and former high school classmate who comes from a wealthy doctor family. She’s bright and happy and loved by everyone, until the person she loves is stolen from her, and she goes dark side.

Kim Rae-won has been offered the role of a gifted neurosurgery specialist. He’s got a lively personality and is so affable that most people trust him right away, and he’s described as a realist through and through. Kim Rae-won’s management released a statement that they’d only received an offer, and no one’s been confirmed for the series yet, so I fully expect them to go a few more rounds before we get a main cast locked down.

Doctors will air following Jackpot on Mondays and Tuesdays in June.

So basically it's Brain all over again with PSH reprising the role of Shin Ha Kyun & KRW taking the role of his mentor?! I'd say it's a very big shoe for her to fill (& for anyone at that matter) & a tiny one for KRW he can do MUCH better than this
Any way, it depends on the plot but I'd really like to see KRW in a larger than life character, he pull them off mghitily

What the hell are you talking about? I think she is a very capable actress -__-. Sure, Heirs was hands down horrible, but that was not her fault, that was alllllllll on the writer. Secondly, I think she very much made up for it with Pinocchio. I think she has proved her stuff.

I personally don't like her as an actress. She tends to be boring and not very versatile. I haven't liked her since the first drama I saw her in, You're Beautiful. But I do admit she did a good job in Pinocchio. But out of the 5 dramas I've seen her in I've only liked her in Pinocchio.

But this is also my opinion. Because she isn't a bad actress per se but there is something off about her acting to me.

She was also good in Miracle in Cell No. 7. I think it would be interesting to see them pull this off together, because there's a chance it could work out and also a chance that it would be pretty bad. It would also be a chance for Park Shin Hye to put another foot into more adult roles.

I think Park Shin-hye gives the impression that she's very young because she was a child actress and everyone's impression of her gets stuck at the high school/college age. And it helps that she also has a youthful appearance. But overall, the age gap isn't that big and Kim Rae-won isn't that old. Anyway, there isn't even a love-line mentioned anywhere yet.

Lee Sung-kyung's character description kinda imply that there will be a love triangle. Unless it's not related to the female lead, which I find unlikely.

As for the cast it does seem odd considering their earlier works, so if they end up accepting I will be hesitant to watch it.

Well, that and the fact that she's stuck to basic roles in safe projects. We have yet to see Park Shin-hye portray a full-grown, complicated, adult woman, so right now it's hard to imagine it. Maybe she could pull a Kim Rae-won, who knows--he was pretty hard to take seriously until last year as well.

I think PSH looks young (or at least the same as before) because she never ever ever changes her hairstyle??

I only saw KRW in Punch, which was a serious (and seriously good/underrated) drama, so he seems like a weightier sort of actor opposite PSH. I...actually hope he doesn't accept, but who knows? Maybe PSH isn't confirmed?? Maybe KRW has a lighter, funnier, rom-com side to him I haven't seen/can't yet imagine?

*fingers crossed that if he accepts it'll be worth his while*

"She is way prettier and better actress than PSH"

Whether or not LSK is prettier is 1) Debatable and 2) Not relevant to who KRW should have a love line with.

And LMFAO @ LSK being a better actress than PSH. They both have a tendency to overact with certain scenes, but LSK takes it too a whole new level, even for a kdrama actress...And that's saying something.

I hope Dramabeans users continue to seethe over the fact that Park Shin Hye is still one of the most popular/well-recieved actresses in her generation in Korea and will get cast opposite your perfect, flawless oppars in big production dramas.

The kind of hate that Park Shin-hye gets at Dramabeans is appalling. I've always seen people praising not-so-good-looking actresses like Kim Go-eun and Han Ye-ri on Dramabeans, so it feels that people here are capable of moving beyond superficial things and appreciating actresses for their talent, so why are people so vicious with their words when it comes to Park Shin-hye? Not only is she talented and versatile, but also very, very pretty. Somehow people aren't being fair with their comments about her.

No lies detected in your comment LOL.

I really like PSH, but that doesn't mean I think she's Korea's Meryl Streep. Sure I can find actresses better at the craft of acting than her, but that doesn't take away the fact that she is still a lot better than certain actresses, especially idol actresses, getting cast in important dramas/films left and right these days.

The fact that a lot of the OTT hate boils down to a drama she did over two and half years ago, which she would have been a complete and utter moron to decline, btw, is the most hilarious part of all of this.

Bottomline, constructive criticism is great and is the point of sites like this, but with PSH certain people just like to nitpick her for the sake of nitpicking an actress they don't appreciate seeing on screen.

Are you seriously comparing Park Shin-hye to Kim Go-eun and Han Ye-ri?! I mean, I will ignore the fact that you're inadvertently (?) throwing shade at their appearance (perhaps esoteric or unconventional is a better fit than "not-so-good-looking"? Just sayin), but those aren't names you can throw out to defend just anyone lol. They're the best of their generation.

Honestly I didn't intend to offend anyone by 'not-so-good-looking' because personally I think that's not an insult? You should take a look at the Internet, people are calling Kim Go-eun 'ugly' or 'in serious need of plastic surgery'. But anyway that's beside the point. They're all talented actresses. Yes, including Park Shin-hye. I think Park Shin-hye's extremely versatile and capable of really good acting. Perhaps you would see it too if you would just put your prejudices aside.

0

Required fields are marked *

Well yes, kind of like people on here are calling Park Shin-hye ugly and what not...which had you actively defending her appearance. I'm just saying, there's an inconsistency there: you bring the other two up as supposedly ugly actresses that DB is willing to tolerate (and seemingly confirm that this judgement with "not-so-good-looking"), then in the same breath go on to defend Park Shin-hye by calling her "very, very pretty." I mean, do looks matter, or don't they? Because you're kind of saying they do--once you've decided that these comments about PSH's looks are valid enough that you have to argue them, it means that you've decided that looks are fair game, which then gives the impression that you're totally unconcerned with dumping on KGE and HYR.

Also, It's not prejudice, it's an honest evaluation of her. She's an actress; I do not have a high opinion of her acting. It's okay for people to not be impressed with her.

0

Lol Juniper, look at my comment more clearly? Obviously I'm saying I'm pointing out the double standards here.

I'm saying that people on Dramabeans are willing and able to look beyond superficial things like looks. (yep, I don't think actresses like KGE or HYR fit the traditional beauty standards, but THAT'S OKAY as long as they're good at acting.)

Then I'm saying Park Shin-hype is a good actress. But ironically, people seem to enjoy attacking her looks, when in fact that's not true? Speaking from a rather superficial point of view, PSH's definitely pretty.

But that brings me back to my point. The double standards of people here. Thinking beauty isn't important for some actresses, and then turning around to attack PSH for it.

Personally, I think PSH is pretty, but I enjoy her dramas for her acting, because no pretty face can make me tolerate lackluster acting, as so many young actresses in her generation have proven to me over and over again.

0

I was with you until you felt the need to go on from labeling Han Ye-ri and Kim Go-eun as good actresses who are not attractive, to talking about Park Shin-hye as an actress that is both talented and beautiful. What does Park Shin-hye being beautiful have anything to do with the point you are trying to make? If anything, bringing it up totally undermines it, and kind of destroys the whole justification for bring up HYR and KGE in the first place, and speaking about them on those terms.

There is just a logical fallacy there, all I'm saying. Your argument is: DB likes to pick on PSH's looks. However, DB likes some actresses that are not beautiful, like HYR and KGE...and then takes a giant leap to PSH is also talented, and happens to be beautiful as well. There is no connection between KGE/HYR=not beautiful + talented and PSH=beautiful and talented. What do HYR and KGE's looks have to do with the conclusion you've drawn? And why is Park Shin-hye's beauty important enough that you feel the need to call attention to it, given that you're ostensibly trying to prove that looks don't matter?

I'm just laying this out so you can see where I was coming from. I think you mean well and I don't really want to argue anymore lol. I apologize for overreacting a bit in my first comment.

0

You literally just proved the point that people on this site were trying to make with your comment. I think Kaylie was very obviously trying to make a point of reference with these two actresses, not necessarily comparing their acting skills.

But that fact that you got your panties in a twist with PSH's name even being in the same sentence as these other two actresses sums is laugh inducing.

Chill, we get it, you obviously think Kim Go Eun and Han Ye ri shit on everyone's faves on every level and said actress is not worthy to have her name mentioned among them.

Got it. Good to know. I'll make sure to keep that in mind.

I'm pretty sure people are trying to say that people are leveling unfair personal attacks at PSH, which I did in no way, shape or form...unless the real point people are trying to make is that it's unfair and/or mean to criticize her, full stop. I just felt that a comparison to KGE and HYR did not really legitimize PSH as an actress, which seemed to be what Kaylie was attempting to do, and chose to vocalize that--kind of harshly I guess, sorry for that, but I was offended by the way she referred to their appearances (apparently she did not intend it that way, so no harm done).

Look, I'm very sorry if I hurt your feelings or came across too harshly, but come on lol. I don't know why you are taking my opinions so personally--you obviously are completely free to disagree with me, and the fact that you do does not bother me in the slightest. The world won't end if I don't think that PSH is on HYR/KGE's level, and it won't end if you do.

0

Also, just to clarify further: the fact that I criticized PSH does not necessarily mean I have a vendetta against her, which everyone on this thread seems to be assuming. It means that I don't have a positive opinion of her acting, the end. The fact that people are so militant over criticism of her acting, no matter how polemically it was put (I don't think she's on the level of people I consider acting goddesses? So...?), is just...idk lol. This fandom can be pretty interesting.

0

OMG, it's not about feelings getting hurt LOL. We're literally talking about actors/actresses that get paid enormous sums to work in a super glamorous industry, I'd hardly call PSH a victim when she gets comments calling her mediocre, bland, etc. because this is par for the course. At the end of the day, these comments remain irrelevant within the k-ent. industry.

Part of the reason people have issues with what is said about her is the personal attacks and also the harsh delivery some people feel the need to use with her (and others), as you exhibited with getting offended over the fact that another user dared to invoke KGE and HYR lol.

Also, where in my statement did I say I find PSH better than KGE and HYR LOL? They've played more diverse, challenging roles, and have a better grasp of their craft because of said roles/experiences. Just because I like a certain actress/actor, doesn't mean I think she is the be all and end all, or that I fail to notice her weaknesses.

Also, the entire point of a comment section is to write a comment and respond so I don't really see why you think I'm taking things personally when replying to comments...in a comment section.

0

"This fandom can be pretty interesting."

RME.

Umm, alright at you calling out an entire fandom over pretty innocuous comments (for the most part lmao) in this article.

Also, don't worry, I don't think you have a vendetta against PSH lol....I've seen your comments before, they're pretty much constructive criticism, so I find it funny that out of all the users that I have seen leave petty comments, you're the one defending this type of thing. I mean, I have noticed you go into articles about PSH to talk about how she can't pull off roles or whatnot when she gets cast in stuff, which I find hilarious, but, hey, everyone is free to leave comments on anything they'd like.

I mean I don't understand the appeal of a lot of the mediocre, minimally talented actors (and certain actresses) that get praised/passes on sites like this for their trash acting and lack of challenging roles because "Oppa/Unnie is so handsome" right? But, I don't feel the need to always leave a comment about. But that's just me.

0

Well honestly your comment read as butthurt to me, though now I guess you were just laying the sarcasm on pretty thick. Anyway, I know I have a sharp tongue and am extremely opinionated, and even if I try to stay impersonal the internet can lead to misunderstandings (as we've seen here). I don't like to hurt people's feelings; clearly I've already hurt Fuck You Juniper's, which is unfortunate.

I think I've commented on like one other PSH thread about this same drama. I choose to do so because a) I want to see the writer return to her Can We Get Married heights and do not think casting PSH reflects any such ambition, and it irritates me to see another good writer fail to live up to her potential, and b) I have thoughts and feel like posting them. I fail to see how that's amusing, but okay. I never defended people leveling personal attacks against PSH--in fact several times I have said that her personal life is not our business, that disparaging her looks is not cool, etc. What I am reacting to is an aggressive persecution complex that has taken hold in this comment section that reflects an attitude that I find endemic to this fandom and frankly don't get--that being a ~fan means being in a state of war with anyone and everyone that disagrees with you in the slightest. I mean, take a look around. Everyone is acting like a great battle was fought here or something, that they've staved off WWIII by whining about internet trolls that have yet to materialize. I post one mildly butthurt/critical comment about PSH and KGE/HYR and we're still talking about it (yes, my choice...but the fact I feel like I need to justify my opinion or potentially come off as an asshole says a lot). Also I am apparently a "waste of a sperm" (hopefully the egg was put to good use). Tell me this is normal lol.

0

Did she lie though? They aren't considered "pretty" in Korea standard.
And they are great actress but being best of their generation is your opinion.
Up until this point there are a few actresses Korea would named top of their generation, and none of them belongs there.

Well, that completely misses the point of what I was trying to say and what I think she was trying to say in the end, but okay.

0

"laying the sarcasm on pretty thick"

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.

Like I said, and others have before, it's not just with this article, the vitriol has been pretty apparent since Heirs not only on this site, but others like it. People get defensive, and I didn't necessarily label the negative comments about PSH as hate, but I definitely see undertones of unnecessary aggressiveness and bandwagoning when her name is even mentioned.

Also, I too would rather her not do this drama because I don't need her working with a flop writer, especially coming off of a high like Pinocchio, and this plot sounds like a dud, so I guess we can agree on that front, but for VERY different reasons.

Also, are you really insinuating that a writer that cast Sung Joon and Kim Young Kwang in a drama, is not living up to that same potential with PSH as a lead for this upcoming drama because....I mean....really?

Sung Joon and Kim Young Kwang....I mean...LMAO.

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

Not quite. I'm saying that this woman wrote one very good drama, and now I'm grasping at straws for some kind of sign she even cares anymore. I agree that Kim Young-kwang is ass and that Sung Joon is not much better, and Han Groo and Jung So-min are not what I'd call great actresses (especially after having suffered through D-Day), but the casting priorities were obviously very different for that drama. Park Shin-hye is about as safe and mainstream as it gets imo--this practically brands the project as "trendy in white coats," and given that Kim Rae-won has spent most of his career on fluff and this last year could still be a fluke, I don't have high hopes for something with any depth.

Anyway, can I just say, I'm not sure why any of the actors get hate for Heirs--yes their performances were...not great...and their characters were awful, but given that practically everyone hates Kim Eun-sook on this website, you'd think we could all pile on her some more. She could have had Jeon Do-yeon and Ha Jung-woo star in one of her shows and it would still be a steaming crap pile.

0

And this is why PSH gets a worse rep than she already does from Heirs. With fans like you dripping with sarcasm and aggressively taking offense at people's comments aren't doing Shinhye any good.

Pointing out a logical fallacy given by a Shinhye fan isn't trying to disprove Shinhye's beauty. Maybe instead of equating criticism of someone's logic = criticism of Shinhye would do better for the fandom. Some of Shinhye's hate is ppl thinking she doesn't deserve her popularity/demand, but part of it is due to her at times obnoxious fandom. Nobody likes the sarcasm and spite when it's directed at themselves. Do Shinhye a favor and tone it down.

I've watched PSH since she was 15 years old and the girl is spunky and generous. If it wasn't for her more recent/newer fans, there would be a lot more ppl who would be able to appreciate her work.

0

I'm not going to address the fact that most of my main points you either 1) completely ignored or 2) decided not to address at all. It's not the content of the criticism most of her fans have an issue with (heck I've made a lot of the same criticisms of her career her non-fans have made) it's the delivery/general mean spiritedness people gear towards her.

But, if you found my comments overly sarcastic and aggressive then maybe deciding to engage in an entertainment news/gossip site comment section isn't for you, because I actually kept it pretty toned down. Also have you seen some of the other conversations and comments on this site and others? I've made my points and arguments as respectfully as I felt I should have, so I find your argument irrelevant.

As for your other comments:

"tone it down"

No. But thanks for the input.

"If it wasn't for her more recent/newer fans, there would be a lot more ppl who would be able to appreciate her work."

Citation needed.

I personally think she is pretty. Granted, she isn't the most beautiful of the actresses but that still doesn't make her any less pretty. I don't judge an actress or actor on their looks. So my opinion has everything to do with her acting skills. People seem to think that because someone has a problem with her it's because we are being superficial about her looks which isn't true. Well, maybe for some people.

One of the first dramas I saw was You're Beautiful. I loved the drama but was disappointed in her acting. This was even before I came to Dramabeans so I formed this opinion away from this site. But I've gone on and seen 5 dramas with her and the only one I thought she did a good job in was Pinocchio. I actually thought she was popular so it surprised me when I did finally come to dramabeans and saw that many people actually were equally disappointed in her as an actress.

Do I hate her? Of course not, but I do have an opinion towards her skills and to me she isn't a very good actress and I find her lacking any charisma which makes her boring to watch.

You mentioned that her looks were irrelevant in your assessment of her and as an actor. What about her personality then? Surely that has to count for something. I think PSH is one of the kindest and loveliest actors in the industry. Many actors and idols are bombarded with controverises, some deserved. For her, her biggest controveries have been dating and weight isses way back in the past (not even proper scandals). And I don't think any celebrity or anyone that has worked with her has had anything bad to say about her.

That's awesome she is such a nice person. I never had anything against her as a person, but her acting. I am not one to follow stars because to me they are just people, so unless the actors do something horrible I usually don't know them beyond the roles they play. I am interested in how well they can do as actors and actresses and in my opinion I think she falls short as an actress. However, she is still worlds better then some actresses out there and I would take PSH over them any day.

0

Shinhye isn't great at picking roles. She is great when given good roles like Dokmi and Inha

I personally like her acting in You're beautiful. It was her 1st official lead role and comedy. She pulled it off well playing an overly innocent to stupid, clumsy soon-to-be noon that failed to pretend a guy.

And don't let this site mislead you. No matter what they say PSH is still one of the biggest hallyu actresses along with JJH, SHK etch

From the initial synopsis of the female lead in addition to this being an award winning script......the thought of it being a light romantic comedy never came into my mind. The male lead being offered to KSR further reaffirms it having darker tone. Mind you...the last two dramas having a tragic ends for his characters.
The fact that the female lead has been offered to Shinhye should not automatically lead to the conclusion to it being a light romantic comedy.
It's like sounding a death knell to the growth of an artist to keep churning similar stuff. Shinhye's movies have all had serious undertones and some of her dramas too...DWIAG, Seoul 1945, TOH, IF wait for the next train again, FBND etc. Her characters have been diverse too.
To me she seems ready to venture into more challenging role and subject matter. I , for one have full faith that she can do them well.
Now, I just wish for a good director at the helm and we should have a good drama at hand.

I do think that Park Shin Hye's look nowadays is giving more mature aura. So, when I imagine PSH to be in a drama, I prefer her to be coupled with older actor with 'real man' (like pattsue said) aura. and i'm so glad with this news. Just imagining this pairing, already invited butterfly to my stomach. Yeah, i feel the chemistry between them. Hope KRW will confirm.

I really don't get the PSH hate on this site. I love seeing her on screen and am happy she is trying different things.
It's an 8 year gap that's nothing (look at LSJ and Uee's right now). Plus there's no signs of any romance in this show.
I'm excited

No sign of romance?

<her rival ... is bright and happy and loved by everyone, until the person she loves is stolen from her, and she goes dark side.

Well, I think that's code for 'love triangle'.

Or minimally delusional second lead that is somehow going to bring in love issues into the story that will affect the male and female leads....

I neither hate nor love PSH, quite indifferent about her but reading what this drama's about makes me wonder how important KRW's role would be since so far it sounds to be more about the two girls. But then I can hardly imagine that they could lure KRW back to dramaland without focusing the story on him (unless it's a drama with an exceptional strong cast) so maybe they would change their initial story? hmmmm...

Since it's an award winning script ......I really wonder if they would change it too much.....at least not to the extent of losing its essence. But, yes an actor of KRW's stature will not be accepting without substance to his character in the drama. Maybe, both the main lead roles have strong characterization.....that would be awesome!

Kim Rae Won once paired with Moon Geun Young (when she was barely 17 yo and he's 20-something). It was way more problematic pairing than this one.
Although PSH seems only working with actors around her age and gives off youthful image, she also had acted with Uhm Tae Woong, Go Soo and Yoo Yeon Seok, actors several years older than her.
Just wait until the drama airs is all I can say...

I'm slightly confused about the people complaining about the PSH "bashing." The comment section is for personal opinions, so I don't understand why you're all so upset about people expressing their opinions about her. I personally think she's a good actress. I've seen worse, and I've also seen better. I think it'd do her well to take on a meatier, more grown up roll such as this one - I particularly liked her in FBND and not so much in her recent, more youthful roles.

Required fields are marked *

I agree. At this point it seems there are more comments complaining about criticism directed at her than actual comments criticizing her lol. I mean, obviously the comments about her looks are not cool, but an actor/actress is performing to an audience (and getting paid exorbitant sums to do it)--we have a right to react to them lol. idk. The particular nature of drama fandom seems to go hand-in-hand with persecution complexes about critique--everything is taken extremely personally.

I think it's in response to ALL the bashing that has accumulated so far. I swear in every post with PSH you can expect bitter snide remarks that are very uncalled for.

0

Required fields are marked *

If you've seen the comments in past posts about her, it might be slightly easier to understand why her fans are pre-emptively defensive - there's a personal edge to a lot of criticism of her (especially about the vaunted kiss scenes, as if she has full creative control of those), that we simply don't see with any other actress of similar age/experience levels, or even any actor.

But other than that, I fully agree that actors better be prepared for criticism if they're not up to scratch, and fans need to learn that comment sections are not fansites/their faves are not exempt from criticism.

hmm. I mean, to be very honest, kdrama kissing scenes are rarely any good for me to begin with, because they're always some combo of female chastity myths and quasi-rapey fanservice, which is kind of a turn off (the woman has to be a passive object/self-insert the man acts upon). But I have to say, the few PSH kiss scenes I can remember have been downright uncomfortable to watch, because the illusion of consent isn't even there anymore. Like, she always seems terrified or extremely discomfited. I mean, I do think some of this is on her (it's an actor's job to step outside their own comfort zone), and some of it is definitely not--for example didn't the Heirs PD have Lee Min-ho spring one on her without her even knowing? Let's not even talk about the kind of disrespectful/unsafe work environment that allowed that kind of decision to be made. But her dating life is none of our fucking business, I completely agree.

Have you watched her kiss scene in FBND and Pinocchio? You seem stubborn on the Heirs kiss??? They are suppose to be teenagers who are in their first love??? If Kim Tan could kiss like that he must be a dad by 18.

0

most of her roles were innocent/1st love though...
And that kiss with LMH most people is still blaming here when it's the PD and LMH were at fault.

She was fine in Pinocchio. You should take a look at their snow kiss

0

Her kiss scenes in Pinocchio were so good. It's bad to let your impression of her get forever stuck at the Heirs, AND proceed to criticize her acting based on it because... She's moved on, she's grown.

0

I neither like or hate PSH. She's watchable at best and can carry role to certain extent though i would love if she stops type casting herself.

But criticism is normal. As long as they don't start slut shaming or do other things needlessly. Probably if the not so favorable one find actress or actor they don't like. Just stay away from the article.

This is me not being bias but more to so-so and eh at the comment section mess.

Ppl cannot differentiate between bashing / criticizing.

They should go into kpop fan war, and find out what is true bashing.

I used to love PSH so much in her younger days. But do now know why I lost interest in her, probably Heirs scarred me a lot.

I am expecting to see her in more adult & mature role. She needs to be carefully choose her role and try to out from her comfort zone.

Wait. So people aren't allowed to voice their opinion for wanting a different cast without being accused of hating? I say that I can't picture KRW paired with PSH, but that's just an opinion. It's nothing against PSH. There are roles I would prefer to see her in. But I would say that for a number of actresses. But hey, it could work out too. Actually, it's more that I would prefer to see KRW in a different role so I hope he turns it down. The drama, based on the premise and the description of his character, does not seem much interesting to me.

Maybe I'm a tad too tolerating but... where is the hate? All I see is people calling Park ShinHye's acting boring (and to my reputation's apparent detriment, I agree. In all that I've seen her in, she's not bad, or even terrible but she's not good and interesting either. She elicits nothing out of me which is kind of a downer when I'm watching a drama/movie)... which is not hate in my books.

If the criticisms are about her acting, then it's all fair game and well, different people interpret differently; like some people thought that Lee JeHoon overacted in the first part of Signal but I didn't - all I saw was a very agitated child/grudging-policeman, which fitted his character.

If the criticisms are about anything else, then yes, it is hate in my books.

Anyway, medical dramas haven't been able to capture my attention, so I have no opinions regarding this casting. (Unless this turns out to be a VERY GOOD, EPIC, SIGNAL-MISAENG-PRE-FINALE-GOD'S-GIFT then maybe I'll check it out. Maybe.)

Peeps, I think it's not present in this particular post and thank goodness for that, but post-Heirs, the past criticism of Park Shin-hye has been weirdly over the top and personal.

In just the previous post about this drama, you have someone going on about her kissing scenes/blaming her for them (and in the past, people have made unnecessary and mean-spirited speculations about her personal life based on said scenes).

I'm all for criticism of people's acting when it's lacking, and I haven't hesitated to go in even on db faves. But with PSH it feels like people are still not done taking out their dislike of her Heirs character (whom I heartily disliked too) on her, and just want to write her off/ are unwilling to give her any credit for work done beyond that performance. Which I'd probably understand if Lee Min-ho got the same treatment, but that's not the case.

Believe me, LMH also got a lot of hate for his acting in Heirs. You can find comment like "I still hate him Heirs" in his every article even after more than 2 years. Which is okay because as someone who likes him, I think Heirs was his worst work and his performance went down in that. But he did bounced back with Gangnam Blues just like Shinhye did with Pinocchio. Sad thing is people still don't let go of Heirs.
But I concede that PSH has got some hardcore haters (who are probably fans of her competitors). They attack her on everything. Atleast with LMH, it's just about his acting.

People here could not be anymore dense about the point some people were trying to make if they tried.
