Celebrating 10 years with the tvN10 Awards

Cable network tvN held its first-ever awards ceremony in celebration of its ten-year anniversary as a station, and its biggest dramas and variety shows were awarded prizes left and right. Seriously, there were so many awards. While the Big 3 stations (KBS, MBC, SBS) hold awards every year, cable shows usually don’t get the same recognition, except for the ones big enough to win at the Baeksangs. With so much good content coming out of tvN, awards are long overdue for some shows, so I’m glad that they finally had the chance to be recognized.

I actually expected more diversity in the programs awarded, given that the pool was ALL of their shows for ten years on the air. But there was a much greater emphasis placed on their recent programs, and the big dramas were the expected ones from this past year: Answer Me 1988 and Signal. Between the Answer Me series and the Na PD shows (the Three Meals a Day and Over Flowers series), it was a sweep in the drama and variety categories, and the rest of the drama awards were split among Misaeng, Oh Hae-young Again, and Oh My Ghostess. But! You had so many other shows! Where was Queen Inhyun’s Man and Joseon X-Files? What about the Flower Boy series that you built your station on? And why the heck weren’t Go Hyun-jung and Jeon Do-yeon there?

In the end tvN’s awards were no different from the year-end awards given by the other broadcasters—there were so many categories that it hardly made a difference what the award was for, since everyone was going to be given a trophy of some sort (I mean, they had a Perfect Attendance award). There were FOUR Daesangs (Grand Prizes) because they were awarded to shows and performers in both drama and variety, though I’m just happy that Jo Jin-woong got one of them for Signal. Lee Seo-jin took home the other one for Three Meals a Day; I can’t believe he actually won a Daesang for being a crankypants, but that’s variety for ya.

I wish Misaeng had been given more recognition, considering what a massive syndrome drama that was. I was happy with the top nods in acting, at least: Lee Sung-min won the Best Actor award for his unforgettable performance as Chief Oh (I would’ve pitched a fit if he hadn’t won something for that character), while Best Actress went to Kim Hye-soo for her double-timeline detective role in Signal.

While I was hoping for more titles to be represented overall, it’s still nice to see some of my favorite shows getting some love. Hopefully it won’t take another ten years for tvN to do this again.

The big show of the night was Answer Me 1988, and cast members Ryu Joon-yeol, Lee Dong-hwi, Hyeri, Ahn Jae-hong, and Go Kyung-pyo arrived together. I really dislike Ryu Joon-yeol’s hair like that (Did he just come out of the shower? Why is that a look?), but the tux with the cummerbund is adorable. Hyeri looks great; I don’t like her hair, but the dress is a winner. Ra Mi-ran is a boss in her white suit, and Go Kyung-pyo looks amazing, even if he looks exactly like his chaebol character in Jealousy Incarnate.

Co-star Park Bo-gum wasn’t able to attend because he was filming on the set of Moonlight Drawn By Clouds, but he gave his acceptance speech for his tvN Asia Award via live video call in his royal robes, and greeted Hyeri as his wife. Cheeky.

I wish the cast of Answer Me 1994 had been better represented. Sung Dong-il, Do-hee, Baro, and Kim Sung-kyun were there (and Sohn Ho-joon too, though he came with the Three Meals a Day crew), but without Jung Woo, Go Ara, or Yoo Yeon-seok there, the lineup looked sad compared to the other seasons. Sung Dong-il looks about as dressed up as I’ve ever seen him, if you can believe that. Kim Sung-kyun looks especially good in the brown three-piece suit, and Do-hee’s dress isn’t anything new, but she looks pretty and princessy.

Seo In-gook wasn’t on the red carpet with the rest of the Answer Me 1997 cast—Jung Eun-ji, Shin So-yool, Hoya, and Lee Shi-un (Eun Ji-won was there with the New Journey to the West crew)—but he joined them at the awards ceremony, where he sang a duet with Jung Eun-ji and they picked up the Best Kiss award. It’s another sea of white dresses on this red carpet, but at least Jung Eun-ji went for sexy. I don’t really love the white lace, but the cut of the dress makes her look amazing. And I really wish Lee Shi-un had worn socks.

Misaeng’s salarymen Kim Dae-myung, Lee Sung-min, Im Shi-wan, Tae In-ho, and Jeon Seok-ho, looking dapper. Doesn’t it seem like Jang Geu-rae still has a crush on Chief Oh? It’s the cutest thing ever.

Signal’s Kim Won-hae, Jo Jin-woong, Kim Hye-soo, and Lee Je-hoon, who raked in the big acting awards of the night. Jo Jin-woong’s patterned tux is perfect, and I love that Lee Je-hoon is holding Kim Hye-soo’s hand in every single shot. He even showed a little aegyo on camera! The bottom of Kim Hye-soo’s dress is bit too ruffly for my taste, but the color is so fantastic, and nobody struts with confidence or wears the hell out of a dress like Kim Hye-soo. Oh, and I want that olive trench coat for me.

The cast of Oh Hae-young Again: Eric, Seo Hyun-jin, Yeh Ji-won, Kim Ji-suk, Heo Young-ji, Heo Jung-min, Lee Jae-yoon, and Jo Hyun-shik. Eric and Seo Hyun-jin are the best-dressed couple of the night. He looks flawless in that red velvet tux and coiffed hair, and she’s wearing my favorite dress on the carpet. I wish her overall look weren’t so safe, but that gorgeous beaded dress pretty much wears itself. Heo Jung-min’s head-to-toe plaid suit is all sorts of ridiculous, and totally adorable.

The cast of tvN’s longest-running drama series, the office comedy Rude Miss Young-ae. Lead actress Kim Hyun-sook won the Perfect Attendance award, but going on fifteen seasons this year, that’s no small feat.

Aw, I like Ahn Jae-hyun’s patterned tux. He looks boyish and cute. He’s here for variety show New Journey to the West, and his wife Gu Hye-sun made a surprise appearance to present an award, startling him in the middle of the awards ceremony.

Oh My Ghostess’s Park Bo-young, Kim Seul-gi (who also won in the variety category for her stint on SNL Korea), and Jo Jung-seok. I can’t make heads or tails of Park Bo-young’s dress, because it’s ugly, but she looks cute in it. Maybe that’s just the Park Bo-young effect. I wish she’d worn something more formal, but at least she ventured away from the one bubble skirt silhouette she wears at every other red carpet event? Kim Seul-gi looks great—the sheer panel on her dress is a little odd, but she’s so petite that it still looks like a whole dress instead of a slip. The girls won the Best Chemistry award (without Jo Jung-seok, lol!) but he picked up a trophy too, looking adorable as usual.

The cast of SNL Korea: Kim Min-kyo, Lee Se-young, Jung Sang-hoon, Jung Yi-rang, Jung Sung-ho, Lee Soo-min, and Kwon Hyuk-soo. Jung Sang-hoon won the PD’s Choice award in the variety category, and Lee Se-young and Kwon Hyuk-soo picked up trophies as well.

Three Meals a Day was the big variety show winner of the evening, and Fishing Village was the season that picked up the Daesang. Nam Joo-hyuk, Sohn Ho-joon, Yoo Hae-jin, and Cha Seung-won make up Chajumma’s crew, while Lee Seo-jin and Kim Gwang-kyu were there representing Seo-jinnie’s crew. I wish Lee Seo-jin had worn a classic tux, because the double-breasted jacket doesn’t really do his handsome face justice. And I know Cha Seung-won and Nam Joo-hyuk are models, but it’s not that apparent on the show where everyone is looking scruffy; it’s a totally different story on the red carpet, because they make the other guys look like miniature boys playing dress-up. I could watch Chajumma strut on the red carpet for days.

Flower halbaes Baek Il-sub and Park Geun-hyung were there representing Grandpas Over Flowers. Did Baek Il-sub halbae think “festival” meant “picnic”? You know what, we’re probably lucky he put on pants at all.

MCs Kang Ho-dong and Shin Dong-yup hosted the event, and Shin Dong-yup won the top honor for Best MC on SNL Korea, now in its eighth season.

The cast of tvN’s gag program, Comedy Big League. Yang Se-hyung and Ahn Young-mi picked up the Best Comedian/Comedienne awards (he’s in the gray suit, and she’s in the leather jacket).

The cast of army sitcom Blue TowerKim Ho-chang, Jung Jin-wook, Choi Jong-hoon, and Baek Bong-ki—with Roller Coaster’s Jung Ga-eun.

Jeon Hyun-moo, Lee Jang-won, and Ha Suk-jin representing brain-teaser variety show Problematic Men. I never thought I’d say this: Jeon Hyun-moo looks better than Ha Suk-jin. What bizarro world did I step into?? I really like the all-black look that Jeon Hyun-moo is sporting, complete with the velvet jacket and black bowtie. Ha Suk-jin, on the other hand, is wearing a combination of all of my least favorite things: turtleneck, white formal pants, no socks. It’s like a triple whammy of badness, and a waste of such a handsome mug. Don’t make that face at me until you put on proper pants!

I have always said this to all my fiends, tvN makes the BEST dramas. This award show proved to me and many that it is true. I still remember watching my first tvN drama, Reply 1997. Just seeing JEJ and SIG on stage made me tear up so much. Im still tearing up while writing this. UGH. But in all seriousness, I really appreciate the creativeness that tvN has. They are not afraid to try out new genres/ideas. I hope that they keep this up and bring us many more amazing dramas that will give us a variety of feels. I also hope they do these awards shows more often. If not maybe for their 15th anniversary?

The other cable networks (JTBC, OCN) have also had their share of top-notch dramas.

It's nice to see Na PD so dressed up for once! heheheh
Almost everyone from his shows are present and I wonder how they would all be gathered in one spot. That moment when Lee Seon Jin and Chajumma presented an award together was so awkwardly cute! They should really consider putting them together for a 3MAD special.

It was sad how the earlier TVN shows were not even mentioned. Queen InHyun's Man, Marriage Not Dating, Floweboys series and more... But then again to pack all the shows of 10 years to just one awards night is probably impossible but a mention of all those past shows would have been nice.

Na PD is basically the winner for this awards show, or rather TvN won in having Na PD in together with Shin PD and the writers of the Reply franchise.

True! 3MAD clips were shown so many times I lost count. But Na PD deserves the spotlight and the award. And I also found it awkward cute when Seo Jin and Cha Seung Won presented an award together.lol I really wanna see them together on 3MAD

Plus they went out for drinks after the show, Chajumma posted a pic on his IG - there was Na Pd, Seojinnie, Kwang Gyu, Hye Jin and Chajumma :)

This is the most picture loaded article on dB for quite awhile.
Yay that Misaeng, Signal, Reply series, OHYA and OMG got nods. And really there's so many awards under obscure titles just to share the awards out and reward as many people as possible. Which is quite the normalcy in K awards. Else we users or fans will comment why our faves didnt get it. Which leads to my next statement - Can't believe Queen In Hyun's man wasn't acknowledge.

I scratched my head in puzzlement over that super awkward red carpet walk for Eric and Seo Hyun Jin. He looks like he struggles to be sharing the same breathing space with her? Is he trying to keep the distance so that tongues won't wag and the paparazzi won't churn out another article speculating they are dating? I breathed a sigh of relief that he still Sat beside her.

I think our expectation were just too high where they even didn't have romantic feelings (yet XD). Especially with Eric. It's obvious he doesn't has any feels towards that girl. But I kinda sense Seo Hyun Jin perhaps likes him since the girl looks so excited whenever he arounds :)

I'm disappointed of course but well, I can't push him to like her lol.

I feel like Eric probably already has someone special... While having hot passionate kisses on camera is a part of the job, getting a dating rumour with his costar is not. He probably tried to keep a distance because of that.

I fell so hard for Eric's Park Do-Kyung character in OHYA that it pains me to think of the possibility that he isn't as kind-hearted in reality, and that he might be a cold, uncaring, self-possessed star in person.. I've only seen him in two dramas, and I was pretty smitten with him in Discovery of Romance, too.

I just wish he wouldnt give Seo Hyun-Jin the cold shoulder--not that I think he did here.. Just, she seems so nice. If indeed she has a crush on him (entirely possible, no?), I just hope she isn't hurt and that she can get over it. I've read that she's shy in person, but her qualities/talent seems so evident...if only talent = automatic love from the one you wish to attract.

Everyone who works with him adores him and so many people have praised how nice he is (you can see how Lee Seojin brightened up when he saw Eric appear in 3MAD teaser, the last time they worked together was 12 years ago), so I don't think he's cold and uncaring. In fact, I think he is a lot sweeter than Park Dokyung in real life. He is already a shy person by nature and the dating rumor probably made him feel more cautious. And if, as I said, he already has someone he's seeing seriously it's probably more important to him to protect her feelings than to do fanservice with his costars.

0

Ah I might just add... You may not care about his idol group and activities and that's perfectly understandable, not everyone is into that. But if one day you are willing to find out what he has said about and what he has did for his beloved group and his members, self-possessed would be the last thing to cross your mind to describe the kind of person he is. In fact, of all the adjectives you could use to describe him, it shouldn't be in the dictionary at all :)

I'm so sorry if I sound too defensive.

0

Even if I can't comment much about anything else, I can quite confidently say that Eric being unkind, uncool and self-absorbed are NOT true. Thanks to years of Shinhwa-loving days.

0

Ahh that would make the most sense. Eric comes across as a nice person. So maybe he really is trying to protect someone important's feelings.

@gru--Oh no, I actually really like Eric, and would be most reluctant to call him those things... I was only responding to other readers' conjectures about him and reading between the lines. I do think that he looked deliberately like he was on his own, hence "self-possessed" seemed an adequate adjective to describe his walking ahead of the OHYA party, and adequate also to describe his set-at-a-distance gaze while photographed next to SHJ.

It's just that it seems like the tables are in his favor in real life, so that if he truly had been giving SHJ the cold shoulder, then I emphasise with her being the star-struck gal whose fallen for the hankered-after popular guy/idol...and that makes me inexplicably sad. Cos even if she's a star herself, attractive and talented in her own right, with her own growing fanbase, it appears she isn't immune to the charisma of another actor's charms, but is equally vulnerable to falling for the fantasy that we viewers subscribe to when we suspend our disbelief. I dunno, I guess it made me a bit teary-eyed that she truly might hold a (hopeless) crush in Eric the way I do.

0

So what if he doesn't want to act washy washy in front of camera just to satisfy everyone? He had better chemistry with Jung Yumi. I can tell from how comfortable Eric around her in last KBS drama awards. I think Hyun Jin's charater a bit off. I bet she has crush on him but the way she act seems try to hard to be like princess and despite her smile I sense Hyun Jin has complicated personality for a relationship. I can get why he doesn' t has any feelings for her. In fact, his exes were goddess level.

I read somewhere in an interview of either Jung Yumi or Eric that they (both?) felt much more comfortable with each other the second time around, while working in DOR, as compared to when they first worked together in Que Sera Sera. Something along the lines of JYM feeling painfully shy in QSS and how Eric had to go out of his way to accommodate/adjust to her awkwardness..? I dunno, my memory might be totally shoddy.

So, anyway...perhaps it just means Eric doesnt warm up that easily with co-stars.

I think it's already too much to push him for liking someone as fans wish aka Seo Hyun Jin. I know we love to see them together. In drama, we support Oh Hae Young and curse to Park Do Kyung because he can't respect her loves. Will we do the same in their real life too? Don't you guys see how he felt so uncomfy those cameras on his face trying to catch the small gestures from both of them?

I knew Eric since Que Sera Sera which was made me fan of him and Jung Yu Mi. I always think Yumi had (or probably has) crush on him since years ago even after they met again in Discovery of Romance. Yumi was so shyly cute in front of him all the time that made him pretty difficult to be closer to her because whenever he arround her, the girl looked extremely shy. But after they met again, Yumi was so open, using banmal and Eric let the girl did whatever she wanted to him even hit/knock his head several times.

My guess, from Hyun Jin site, she was the first one who made the distant that made Eric felt difficult to be more relax. Seo Hyun Jin sure loves to throw jokes in front of her other co-stars like Lee Jae Yeon or Kim Ji Seok but in front of Eric suddenly she will just keep quiet all the time. I'm pretty sure she has feelings for him that makes Eric also difficult to try to open the conversation because the girl already feeling uncomfortable beside him but we all see how she became so hyper, totally different from her APAN night.

I watched this last night and enjoyed the segments a lot. Lee Mun Sae performing was such an amazing thing to witness. But the surprise highlight of my night was Sung Dong Il crazily laughing at Kim Sung Kyun's mistake when he was singing. Sung Dong Il's laughing face is hilarious! Since I didn't livewatch and only followed events on Twitter, I so SQUEEED when I saw the video of Jung Eun ji and Seo In guk on their duet together! I love that a lot of Beanies give them love here too, they are my original babies. Next best thing? When they video-conferenced Park Bogum and he was looking for Deok-sunah! Then him and Hyeri referring to each other as husband and wife - talk about holy fan service, I melted!

Also, Jo Jin woong x Lee Sung-min *heart* can we cast both of them in an epic tvN drama in the future?

tvN award was spot on! They did really well. The subway sandwiches being passed around though hahahaha! much much better than drama PPL.

I hope they do award show every year from now on so that all dramas get the chance to be recognized. The winners aren't surprising except that I hoped Im Siwan was recognized. This is why it's hard to choose because tvN really put out good shows and a lot of stars were made through tvN dramas. I agree with the winners, but I also thought others deserved the same award. On the other hand, I'm glad there's no multiple winners per award unlike other award shows.

I would have loved to see my older shows win something, but with the breakdown of the score among judges, viewers' vote, and ratings/recognition, there's no surprise why the recent ones got the awards.

The possibility of a yearly award show seems slim to none. I sure hope they don't wait another 10years for the next one. Maybe half a decade like 5years or better once every two years..

Everyone looks so happy to be there. I'm sure it was a fun night.

Lee Je Hoon's little wink in one of the pics is perfection and Eric made his ensemble look effortless despite the fancy-ness of it all. Like, he just looks so cool. Love Seo Hyun Jin's dress, too.

I can understand how having this ceremony so late in the game would cause older shows to not get the love we all know they deserve but that doesn't make them any less great. Think of them as the building blocks to the empire that tvN is becoming, lol.

Congrats to the winners, can't wait to see who will take it in the next ceremony. Also where are people even watching this awards show?? O:

I wasnt a fanatic of Reply 1997 and it still isn t really my favorite, even though I did see the chemkistry leaking out from every edge.
But the duet was beautiful, I just dont know what extra feels I am supposed to have.

-"they make the other guys look like miniature boys playing dress-up. I could watch Chajumma strut on the red carpet for days."

Yes. I have said this a hundred times, but when Chajumma wears a suit, James Bond cries in the corner. He seriously RULES the suit. then truly if you look at the other guys, they look sloppy next to him. I hate Eric´s suit btw. I don´t think he and Seo Hyun-Jin are best dressed.

Park Bo Youngs´ dress is probably the most daring you´ll ever see on a korean award show. Props for that. I don´t think it is more hideous than the lethally boring dresses on all the Oscar galas ever.

OMG! The feels.

I am teary eyed, seeing all the cast from the dramas that i loved so much. Signal, Reply 1997, Reply 1988, Misaeng, Oh!My ghostess etc.

Daesang drama should have gone to either Reply 1997. or just the whole Answer Me/Reply series. Seo in guk and Eun Ji really has great chemistry and would be the best love story/ hubby-wife from the 3 series overall. In 1988, i loved the parents parts more. I could watch them all day, their ajhumma gossips and husband-wife bickering and the siblings love. That was the highlight for me.

OMG! Bogummie is so sweeeeeeeet. He really is a star now. And i loved how he called WIFE to Hyeri. I was blushing when he said that.

SIGNAL would be my MOST favourite TVN drama along with Queen Inhyun's man. Sad that QIHM cast was not present and none won.
Jo Jin woong totally deserves his daesang best actor award. It would have been fun if JJW and LJH were nominated as best couple. Because they had the best bromance kind for me , even though they never met face to face , and had that connection going well even with that walkie talkie.

I just want to know why korean actors where soooooooooooo much WHITE AND BLACK. It just bores me to death. In every award function , 99% would be wearing the same color .There are so beautiful colors that could be worn to red carpets.

Sometimes I feel it's kinda pathetic to ship the couple in drama become a real life couple just like what happen to Eric and Seo Hyun Jin. Yes, they're absolutely beautiful together. I'm feeling sad right now since I have been Hyun Jin fans for almost 5 years and following her works. I've never seen this girl so happy and bright like whenever I see him with Eric. She just looks different. Feeling shy, cute, hyper and something that seems can't control herself. She always can be so free with her other co-stars but when comes to Eric she looks lost and it's cute to look at :)

I feel disappointed after seeing them become so awkward from red carpet event that Eric choose to reject her hand (which was pushed by Yeh Ji Won) and looking at somewhere else all the time. Our girl already so pretty, hot and sexy with that gawn and this guy not even looking at her for a bit?!

I'm sad and mad but well, perhaps it's true that he has someone already. otherwise, how can he not fall to someone as pretty as Hyun Jin TT-TT.

These are my sentiments exactly... I wish I didn't ship them in real life, but I'm still so obsessed with their drama personas, it's hard not to see them as they were on screen. So silly, isn't it? I've watched dramas all my adult life (almost 40 yrs!), and...I KNOW BETTER!!!

Still, I can't help but feel like SHJ's been publicly rejected. :(

I thought I was in shipping thread lol. Fans need to wake up that it's not an obligation to hold their co-stars during awards event. So why so overreact about that? And I don't get what so mad about. It makes fans desperate to see Eric falls to Seo Hyun Jin while in real perhaps the guy might have someone already. Please stop blaming him to something he even did not do any mistakes. Don't you think you're too much already?

People like who they like, it's unreasonable to expect him to like her because they were co-stars and she's pretty. It doesn't even have to be because of a significant other. But I agree that was rather rude to ignore her like that, simply from a professional standpoint. It was cringe seeing him walking ahead of everyone else, without acknowledging his co-star. I am not one to care for fanservice and feeding fans' fantasies, but at least walking along with her would have been basic decency, especially since the other 2 actors were walking together. It kind of made it awkward for everyone.

He was actually trying to get closer to his fans, you can see him looking for them and waving at them. His fans tend to be easy to distinguish so he often tries to greet them on red carpet. I understand how it could be seen as rude from outsiders point of view though, fair point.

So he's been like that at other ceremonies where he attended together with co-stars? Since you seem to be a fan of him and I am not, I'll take your word for it, but it probably wouldn't have looked as bad if the other 2 actors weren't very actively and obviously trying to get them to walk together.

Eric is one of my favorite korean actor though not fan of his idol activities. I need to defense him since I think the comments already too much. As I remember, Eric never been with someone in red carpet before. And the first thing he usually did always greeting his Shinhwa fans in the middle of crowded because he knows they came and cheer for him.

I'm not trying to defense him but I saw the short clip. It was obvious he didn't see Seo Hyun Jin offering her hands because he was too busy searching his Shinhwa fans lol.

And from what I saw, Hyun Jin also keep distant to him. I felt Hyun Jin was more strange like she was so free talking here and there to her other co-stars like Lee Jae Yeon or Kim Ji Seok but keep quiet in front of him even didn't say anything before they separated or congrulated him while Eric did it on the stage. Not saying she has bad attitude but Eric is much more senior than him in industry either as singer or actor. if she can be so polite and friendly to approach her other seniors, why not with Eric?

Sometimes I don't understand Seo Hyun Jin's personality. Why she should be like that in front of her sunbae because it was totally different from the first time they started the drama. Maybe the girl already has star syndrome.

0

He doesn't usually attend red carpet with co-stars, he usually goes alone for acting activities and/or with his members for singing activities. In both cases he always looks for fans and greets them, he knows well which ones among the crowds come for him.

0

Stop blaming on him and take that as a mature fans not every celebs want to do what fans wish.

I'm glad he was like that. Sometimes shipper are getting so annoying with their deluluness.

If anything, it was Seo Hyun Jin should give him more respect. The guy already been in biz industry for almost 20 years, well respected then and now and even close to the high class celebs.

I don't get the overreaction towards the holding hands. What is so important about? For feeding shippers delulu? He did smile, laugh, congratulated and clapped for Seo Hyun Jin. What OHYA fans hope he should do? Kiss her passionately in front of public? Even if he did that, fans will keep asking more, marry her. Lol. What if he really had someone special in his heart? What if he doesn't feel comfortable about the dating rumor? What if he just wanted to be there to enjoy the awards with other casts not only with Seo Hyun Jin? I never seen so pathetic shippers as Richyun shippers. Throwing hates to someone just because he could not feel their delulu.

Both of them kept the distant. It was not only Eric. So why kept blaming on him? I saw Seo Hyun Jin also talked with other guys casually but she even did not congrulated him yet fans blaming everything on him. Double standard.

I can't complain the award night was awesome, though I wish some of my faves were acknowledged like Liar Game, I Need Romance series, Flower Boy series, The Three Musketeers, Heart to Heart to name a few. Sadly the ratings on these dramas weren't stellar. But I do think a video montage acknowledging these dramas would've been a nice touch.

Seo In Guk!!!

I'm so happy for you! Best Kiss! Yes, of course, who could forget that fountain kiss and all the feelings linger in that very intense scene? My first kdrama character crush, Yoon Yoon Jae, I will love you forever!

And, Made In, TvN, Drama: Seo In Guk? Oh well, let's say that the station recognize your talent, SIG, my baby. I'm so proud of you! Hope your career will just soar higher and higher.

Sorry, this fangirl is just sooo happy. Oh Gukkie!

These awards were long overdue! I wish tvN would do them every year from now on.

Too bad some of the older dramas were ignored. But that's to be expected.

I hope this serves as an incentive for season 2 of "Signal".

The awards distribution seems pretty acceptable to me, yes, they overlooked a lot of quality buzzworthy shows and performances, especially past shows that helped build the channel's reputation, but it would have been impossible to reward everything and everyone who deserved so. Something would end up being left out regardless of their effort. There's only so many categories you can come up with until it starts feeling a little ridiculous and superfluous. But I am very surprised there was no mention of The Good Wife, especially after they managed to convince The Great Jeon Do Yeon to come back to television. Honestly surprised they didn't give her an award at least. Or maybe the public votes didn't help.

I think the programs mentioned all deserved the award. But they had good rating because of their good predecessors that built TVN's recognition. Even dramas that had lower rating were made so well that people keep turning on to TvN. At least some collage of them will be really appreciated. Liar game, Marriage Not Dating, etc. etc.

I am so happy for Seo In Guk. He deserved all these award and much much more! Plus I loved his duet with Eun Ji. So many feels! Can anyone provide links to the subbed show? I only watched the SIG parts because I can somehow understand all that he says even though I know not even one bit of Korean. But then again love does that to you! :P

I love that he got 2 awards so close to when he is leaving for army (when exactly is that btw?). I have already lined up all the shows I am going to re- watch (re-re-re watch) in the coming 2 years.

What I was surprised about was that he got an award for the fountain kiss and not the bending-over-backwards-like-a-dancer kiss! That one was hotter, but I guess this one showcased all the teenage romantic angst of the show. <3

I dunno, I'm kinda saddened by the lack of proper categories considering they're assessing 10 years worth of dramas. Some credits due to the older shows are forgotten, while some are given to more recent shows or just for the sake of, I dunno, to appease perhaps. I wish they had more out of the box categories to complement romcom, for example time travel. I know they've probably had a hard time choosing considering good dramas Tvn has churned out, but I wish they'd pay more homage to Reply 1997. That was the show that opened up the way for them :(

They should give something to Im Siwas. I think Made In TVN was better for him since he was so famous as good actor after Misaeng.

And why no recognition for Good Wife though it was such a great drama?

I guess I have came to expect that no award ceremony will ever be fair. We will have our expectations and biases.

First off, its a ten year festival celebration... hence unless all 10 years of their repertoire is judged, there will definitely be a lot of good work that will not be mentioned or just mentioned in passing coz otherwise there will just be too many to mention. Some felt, credit was not given enough, given how some of the iconic dramas pretty much "builds" tVN's name this past few years.
But unless they were stringent in the time frame the awards is based on say a 2 year frame... which otherwise it definitely left to be contested...
Which we have Reply 1997 which came out in 2012 vs Repy 1988 which aired from last year to earlier this year. 3 years is a lifetime... but they were mentioned in a cluster.
It the time frame was mentioned from beginning on judging criteria, I think many including myself will be more.... accepting?

And we all thought tVN would do better vs the Big 3 year end awards. Its not that they did worst but it just wasn't what we were expecting. Though many praise how well the program run... but personally I was disappointed that Misaeng(the amazing cast) or that Reply 1994(Jung Woo, Go Ara, Yoo Yoon Seok), didn't get more recognition. And I really wished that Sung Dong Il and Lee Il Hwa, being the Reply series parents got some iconic recognition, I mean they were practically the Icon of the series... scratch that, Icon of tVN even...

If tVN plan to do this do a yearly basis, they really need to ask themselves the basis of the award. Or hold a joint one with other cable players... not sure...

As someone whom ratio of watching dramas is more cable than Big 3 now... Hope tVN continue the awesome dramas... but that aside... awards might be something they want to rethink some criteria...

Till then, thanks for the awesomeness and more to come!

And good job recognizing Signal. That drama have my heart.
And also for the halbaes! They make travelling so close to the heart... all the over flowers series.... and 3 Meals series... and recognizing Rude Miss Young Ae (though I have not seen it, maybe a random clip here or there). If only more gets its due recognition too... but that's life...

I knew SIG and JEJ were going to sing for this awards. That was why I was so happy REPLY 1997 OTP reunion. But why was the song so short. Nevertheless I was glad to see them again! And looking so good. Do a reunion work please.

I wish REPLY 1997 got more recognition. It was the one that started it all. Still my fave to this day. Even if Reply 1988 made me feel and cry buckets.

TVN awards was fun and it showed. Helps that most PD's in (variety and drama ) that I like work there. They have good content for sure. Keep it up. We look forward to more.

YAY for fancam for the Reply song! Love it. And love that they went out after. So cute!

I seriously want to frame the group pics of Kim Dae-myung Lee Sung Mi and Im Siwan (SMILING SO CUTELY AND ADORABLY OH GOD). Misaeng changed my life for the better and I'll forever cherish it and many of the characters. I can't say that about any other TV show I have ever watched.

THANK YOU FOR STEPPING UP AND STRIVING FOR QUALITY TVN!!! I don't know the names of the higher ups that helped cultivate and grow TVN into what it is today but they deserve many thanks too.

This is the first awards show I've wished I personally attended. It looked so fun and laidback. Truly a celebratory atmosphere!!

Sad that Misaeng did not receive more recognition. :( It was a hit and a bit of a cultural phenomenon, isn't it? I went to Seoul when the show was airing and remember that the only kdrama star I saw in advertisements on the streets was Im Shi Wan; I guess he was popular back then. And I understand the success, I also loved the show to pieces. Apart from popularity, the production quality and the novelty of the format (at least for korean dramas), for me all this sets Misaeng apart. It left a lasting impression and I still remember the characters: Geu Rae, Chief Oh, Yeon Yi...they brought them to life and made us suffer their pains and celebrate their victories... I guess I can't deny that I am a big fan, hehe!! :)

On a more superficial note: Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Je Hoon look so handsome, these boys do not have a bad angle, they look gorgeous in every pic.
About the ladies, I love the yellow dress of the Signal actress and Park Bo Young also made a good choice. The rest are in general quite bland, I wish they would make bolder choices...

Hemmm, I only had eyes for Seo Inguk, and my eyes followed him everywhere, whenever he popped out on the screen! Congrats to Gukkie, because he deserved the award and no other males can played his character, Yoon Yun Jae for me. As for the kiss scenes, of course it had to be In Guk, and second place should go to Lee Minsuk and Jung Soo Young, for their popcorn and cast kiss scenes. HSKOS is simply daebak, and it makes me wonder why it wasn't nominated in the awards. Well, we still have Reply, and I wish Reply 1997 could've won more. Sigh.

For an award show that was supposed to cover 10 yrs of programming - not surprisingly way too focused on the most recent and popular (which doesn't = quality) shows.

Biggest miss was "Joseon X-Files" - which is still tvN's best series and maybe the best done in Korea.

Didn't watch "Queen Inhyun’s Man" but based on the feedback, seems like that was a big miss as well and among the recent shows, "Dear My Friends" deserved some recognition and for something that really wasn't that long ago - "Liar Game."

Agree that Misaeng" deserved more recognition than what it got.

The one multiple award winner that really wasn't deserving was OHYA, which was a rather mediocre written romcom (shares a lot of the same characteristics of a Kim Eun-sook romcom), but guess tvN couldn't ignore the popularity factor even if other tvN romcoms had been better (INR2012, "Let's Eat," OMG, "Bring it On, Ghost," etc.)

tvN, JTBC and OCN should consider holding a joint awards show annually (can switch off on the telecast) - would make for some real competition, but likely not going to happen as these award shows are more for the networks slapping themselves on the back for their hits that year.
