Drama viewership ratings for the week of Apr. 15-21, 2019

After some technical difficulties over at Nielsen Korea, we’re now back on track with ratings. (Hurrah!) So let’s dive in and see where our shows stand. The Monday-Tuesday slot is looking like a tight race, with newcomer Special Labor Inspector Jo already catching up to Haechi and My Fellow Citizens.

Meanwhile, for the Wednesday-Thursday slot, ratings aren’t as evenly distributed. Doctor Prisoner continues hogging all the numbers while underdogs Big Issue and The Banker linger around 2 to 4 percent. As for the weekend, family drama Mother of Mine and comedy The Fiery Priest take all the 20 percent ratings. The latter finished its 40-episode run Saturday, garnering its highest rating at 22.0 percent.

Congratulations Fiery Priest! Ep 39-40 was fun! There are talks for season 2. Since its the same writer, is it possible for a Chief Kim and Fiery Priest crossover? Pretty sure Chief Kim will annoy Hae Il so much. Hahahaha

Wow!
A Chief Kim and Fiery Priest crossover is definitively something I want to see. Or maybe a cameo of characters from Chief Kim would be enough for me. About Chief Kim annoying Hae-il, yeah I can totally see that happening. Another thing is that I wonder what willl Hae-il think of Chief Kim's past? What would he personally think of Chief Kim?

hae il probably will die first from seong ryong's antics before he dies from a fight

That would be a great crossover and it would be hilarious! They would throw insults back and forth like kids. I really wanted some romance between Hae il and Kyung-seon, but I guess that's impossible. Its a shame because they have a crackling chemistry.

Fiery Priest dragged a bit for me at times but overall it was a fun drama, and I'm glad it was successful.

I'm happy Special Labor Inspector Jo improved from its premiere week ratings to take second place. I really enjoy it so far.

Glad to see A Beautiful World holding steady. It's doing better than I thought it would.

Not surprised by the ratings for Waikiki 2 or Her Private Life.

I am impressed with Beautiful World - good cinematography, editing, script and acting. I thought it would be like Solomon's Perjury or something, but it is filmed more skillfully and beautifully.

Doctor Prisoner is still killin' it. I find that the episodes fly by and it seems like it is over right after it began, which is the sign of a really engaging drama.

Confession has taken a real turn for the dark. I like the show, but I am afraid that there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

2019 is shining again. Too many good drama for me. Beautiful world and inspector Jo is acontinue from the brilliant The Light in Your eyes, sky castle and children of nobody. Inspector Jo is reminding me of Park Yeon Seon writing or is it just me? Haha. The ensemble cast is good.

Yup, Special Labour Inspector does remind me a little of Park Yeon-seon too. But the writer, Kim Ban-di, seems more exuberant, more in-your-face than PYS. Also, I don't think KBD is at PYS's level at the moment -- e.g. she has less range than PYS, with Angry Mom and Special Labour Inspector being similar in many ways. But she has become one of the very few K-drama writers whose work I actually follow, and I hope she will go from strength to strength.

I haven't watched angry mom yet but hearing agood review about it. But given how much i love Inspector Jo at the moment, I
might be tempt to binge watching it now. It does has typical storyline, but the flow of the story is so cohesive, a good ensemble character, still can be hillarious but without sacrificing the depth of the story is quite telling about her as a writers.

Completely agree with you. And yes one of her great strengths is that she is able to give new life and depth to apparent stereotypes. At the moment my favourite character is Jin-gab's boss Ha Ji-man (who's also a prime example of the good ensemble acting that you mentioned). The name alone seems so silly and obvious, but I love how the "ha ji man" attitude is not just the way he deals with his subordinates but also his secret weapon against the bad guys (like telling the higher-ups NOT to withdraw the bus company suspension because it would make them look bad).

Right! I thought at least the Reach of Sincerity audience would have kept watching. Hopefully this week's epi 5 & 6 will do better :)

Haechi is great. I like the story. However, I don't think go ara is an important character now. The chemistry between her and jung il woo is so bad. She was absent from haechi for 4 episodes and I don't think about her at all.

Her private life starts getting fun from the 3rd episode. I hope it can be more fun. Kim jae wook is handsome and park min young is pretty. Their chemistry is also quite good.

Doctor prisoner is the best ongoing drama so far. The story, the acting, the directing. They are just so good. Time flies so fast whenever I watch this drama.

Beautiful world is also good. The first 4 episodes are touching.

I'm not suprised Her Private Life is low. I'm not feeling the chemistry and the writing feels pretty weak. I'm glad Confession is raising a bit in the ratings it's the best quality drama out there, and He is Psychometric is also one of my favs. It's got everything-bromance, romance, action, comedy, and tears.
