Jo Yeo-jung, Go Joon courted for emotional mystery-comedy drama

Jo Yeo-jung, Go Joon

Parasite actress Jo Yeo-jung and rising star Go Joon (Fiery Priest, Oh My Baby) are in talks for a new project called If You Have an Affair, You’ll Die. It looks like they’re still in preliminary phases of reviewing the project, but it would be a hot matchup if they confirm.

The drama is supposed to be a comedic take on the horrific experiences that guilt-ridden adults who do bad things undergo. Jo Yeo-jung has been offered the role of a best-selling mystery novel author who likes killing characters off every few pages. She’s particularly remorseless when punishing cheating husband characters, to the point where her nickname is “Praying Mantis” after the cannibalistic tendencies of female praying mantises. In contrast with her nickname, her home life is actually amazing and she’s married to a younger man who’s a lawyer and so dedicated to their family that he could easily take the mantle of “Nation’s Husband” (think Nation’s Sweetheart).

Go Joon’s character is a divorce lawyer who listens to other people’s problems in love and separation and helps them sort through the splitting of finances and etc. He feels fulfillment by helping people through their times of painful emotional growth. He empathizes with his clients so much that he’s been thrown out of court several times for cursing out the other party, but other than that, he’s a great lawyer. It’s unclear as to whether he will be Jo Yeo-jung’s husband or a rival of some sort.

If You Have an Affair, You’ll Die, written by Lee Sung-min and directed by Kim Hyung-seok (My Golden Life), is such a new project that it does not yet have an air date or broadcasting station.

This sounds fun. Jo Yeo Jung always picks interesting projects, even if I don't always like them.

There's some interesting casting. Glad to see him headlining a drama. Hope this one works better for her than 9.9 Billion Won or whatever, which was a major disappointment to me.

Take out the comedic and this sounds a bit like MISTY. When i see Go Joon I always think of him as Kevin Lee his character in MISTY.
(O/T and yes his wife Eun-joo should have taken up his suggestion to go to Hawaii on the honeymoon they never had. That would have prevented a whole boatload of problems.)
I enjoyed Jo Yeo-jung in BEAUTIFUL WORLD and PARASITE.
I wish both leads luck with their upcoming drama.

Right! Go Joon is still very much edged into my mind as Kevin Lee.
Although I'm pretty sure I've seen him elsewhere (not in dramas but movies), but I can't recall where.

I think of him as Kevin alot too lol. But he definitely did his thing in Fiery Priest so I'm happy he has a leading role.

Well, I have to say, this would be one SMOCKING HOT pairing.

I'm rather indifferent towards this director based on his previous work, so I guess I'd have to see how he interprets this one.
@tineybeanie Is this Lee Sung-min, the writernim of Mystery Queen? That was quite enjoyable and it would inspire trust on the "comedic" aspect of this.

This sounds so fun! Hoping it'd have the same tone as My Wife Is Having An Affair This Week, where they mix the funny with the feels. :)))

I think Go Joon character should not be the husband. It's more exciting plot-wise if he is the other guy.
I like him in Fiery Priest. He can act.

I like her. thought she is a bit of.. she is an actress that makes you feel like there is an invisible bubble or "zone" around her. yeah I think that´s it... she goes into a "zone" but that worked actually SO well in parasite. i havent seen 9,9 billion woman.

Hmm, she sounds like an interesting character. 🤔
I wouldn't mind learning more and these two don't sound bad at all if they confirm to play these characters!
