Jo Yeo-jung stars in mysterious new teasers for tvN’s High Class

New video teasers have been released for tvN’s upcoming drama High Class starring Jo Yeo-jung (Cheat on Me, If You Can) and Kim Ji-soo (365: Repeat the Year).

The mystery-suspense drama takes place at an elite, luxurious international school located on an island paradise. Jo Yeo-jung plays a former lawyer named Song Yeo-wool whose happy life is turned upside down when her husband is found dead. Having been accused of his murder, she escapes with her son to the island where she becomes entangled with her husband’s mistress.

Kim Ji-soo takes on the role of Nam Ji-sun, a mother at the international school who holds strong power and control over the other parents of the school. Behind her charming smile, she hides a cold, calculating personality who will do anything to protect the image of her perfect family.

Other cast members include Ha Joon (Missing: The Other Side, Black Dog), Gong Hyun-joo (Graceful Family), and Park Se-jin (Hyena).

In the first teaser, we are introduced to Jo Yeo-jung sitting alone in a canoe filled with flowers — the black river is a stark contrast to her pure white dress and pastel flowers. Tango music plays and there is a quick flashback to her family playing at the beach and scenes of a romantic dinner with music and red wine.

She begins to narrate: “The bare face of what was once my perfect life…” The tango music quickens as she continues: “I’ve already become the woman who killed her husband.” It then cuts to a sequence of quick shots showing a woman touching her wedding ring, a man unzipping a woman’s dress and Jo Yeo-jung looking shocked. The word “WELCOME” is scrawled across a rain-struck window in red lipstick, and a black-and-white photo of her family hauntingly floating on the water.

The second teaser starts again with Jo Yeo-jung, this time happily watching her son before they run along the beach together. We hear her say, “Everyone talks about Daechi-dong, Gangnam.” Another woman cuts in to talk about the truly “high class,” but is then interrupted by Kim Ji-soo’s voice as she asserts that the high class, “have to uncover what talents their children want and what aptitudes they possess.”

We see scene after scene of young masters of the world in the making, as Jo and her son tour the school. They look in on classes with children learning classical music, ballet, and playing hockey. As Jo tours the very impressive school library with her son, we hear a woman’s voice say: “Because the level of the students is so high…” The teaser ends with close-up of Jo Yeo-jung as she asks with some concern on her face, “Is it very hard to get in?”

Directed by Choi Byung-gil (Missing 9, Angry Mom) and written by rookie writer Hyun Jung, High Class will premiere next month on September 6.
