Drama viewership ratings for the week of Jul. 25-31, 2022

With more dramas ending this week (Link and Insider) we’ve got a bunch of new premieres. While Adamas had a decent premiere but lost viewers the second night, the clear winner of the weekend shows was Big Mouth, bursting out of the gates at 6%. Will it climb or will it drop from here? Today’s Webtoon also premiered, hitting 4% but also losing viewers the second night — those eyeballs were likely going to Alchemy of Souls, which has done pretty well retaining its audience.

The Good Detective looks like it landed steady - shame that it doesn't seem to be on an international streaming platform (yet) 😭

'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' continues to kick butt. Honestly, it's first the drama in a while that has really had me clamoring for the next episode.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo’s success is much deserved, but it still baffles me which dramas take off and which don't.

I knew Adamas was going to struggle. Too many thrillers with similar themes and the same faces. Plus, Extraordinary Attorney Woo is a beast. Adamas is not airing directly against it, but even the rerun right after is pulling decent numbers.

We talked about promotion of dramas before, but I was also thinking about scheduling. Tvn has tried one thriller after another in the Wed-Thurs slot over the past year. You’d think they’d catch a clue. I think, for the most part, thrillers fare better during the weekend or even Mon-Tues. I know SBS was banking on Kim Se-jeong coming off of Business Proposal, but Today’s Webtoon seems like it would be better suited for the Mon-Tues slot.

Adamas 1st two episodes were decent. Some even mentioned it looked a bit more than standard fare, so it may get more numbers (not to the level of EAW) if the plot stays good, but then the writer is a rookie. Until third week of any new drama, we shouldn't rule out their potential.

EAW is already landing on "10 Highest Rated Cable TV Dramas of All Time" - I wonder how far it will climb up the rating ladder?

If you carefully look at statistics - EAW's achievement is no joke. The only other cable TV drama to reach more than 15% rating in its eps 9-10 week was TWOTM - and that is the current HIGHEST rated cable TV drama. I expect that EAW will belong in Top 5, at least. We'll see!

its beautiful now did a good job building up to the moment when our characters would find out the truth that we have known forever. I was surprised with how invested I was, good job from the writers. we will get a lot of angst in these coming episodes so I think the ratings will rise with that. I'm happy for them, I think its a solid weekend drama, my favorite so far, but I guess the lack of makjang shenanigans was a problem for the usual audience. just give our oldest couple a baby, please

Frankly, I didn't realize IBN has withheld that info from playing out for 33 solid episodes. Truly, a very good job.

I can't remember exactly when the drama confirmed to us that she was the missing daughter but I would say it was obvious for anyone watching for the majority of the drama.

I think putting the proposal and wedding arrangements for mirae and hyunjae BEFORE they knew everything was a really smart move. not only because we were like watching a slow-motion crash but also bcs now the angst will be more powerful since everybody is already emotionally attached to each other.

I'm talking about the keeping the reveal from the characters. We the viewers had known about this at least 30 -32 episodes back that she's the lost daughter.
