Drama viewership ratings for the week of Oct. 17-23, 2022

Ratings seem on an even keel this week — meaning, the highs are still high and the lows are still low. May I Help You had a modest premiere, while the single episode of One Dollar Lawyer still hit its crazy high numbers. Notably, on the night it took off, The Golden Spoon seemed to attract viewers the most. Wonder if it was Yook Sung-jae’s new hairdo?

I am sad Love is for suckers is so low. Gaus I guess is too tame as there is not enough gross out humour. Mental coach Jegal is low and is finishing next week so I wonder if there is too much competition in it’s time slot or people are bored with the same story of attack and lose against the corruption.

I feel like an executive would look at this and decide the domestic audience doesn't care for romcoms anymore. And that makes me sad :(

Gaus Electronics is a laugh-out-loud drama! It makes fun of all the Kdrama tropes in such a clever way. The comedic timing is spot on and the characters are all so well-written. It wasn't on my watch list and I usually hate those over-the-top silly dramas. Keep watching and you will love it.

Frankly I do not understand the low ratings for GAUS ELECTRONICS. I look at them and go "you have to be kidding me".

LOVE IS FOR SUCKERS deserves more love too.

Through nine episodes the new weekender THREE BOLD SIBLINGS was overfocused on the story of our oldest sibling and the ML with a relatively public love confession at the end of episode nine- right on schedule if this were a sixteen episode romcom.

But it appears that the writer finally got the memo because the earth totally shifted in episode ten. Suddenly the majority of the episode was devoted to the other characters. Little doctor brother’s ex-girlfriend will be trying to get him back. Little sister’s heart was very effectively broken with a breakup announced to her by her once future sister-in-law. Anyone disagree with the assessment of her ex as total scum? But what was interesting was that this scene was observed by her studio’s newest (strong and good looking) male member, who she had changing out a light under the mistaken belief that he was an electrician. He is looking at the light when he turns it on to check it and says, “its pretty”, but I don’t think he was talking about the light. We now know that the ML’s little sister is being played by her “prosecutor” boyfriend. And so on it went- now we have a real weekender.

Yes, Three Bold Siblings has finally found its place as a family drama from Ep 9-10.

Good family dramas are measured by their heartwarming factors and lovable characters in each generation. These have been lacking so far but the budding relationship between SJ and TJ’s stepdad is quite lovely: they are destined to be in-laws. I also like SJ’s relationship with the two young cousins. The two grandmas are annoying to various degrees. The new man to enter younger sister’s life is something I look forward. She needs a calmer and mature man to turn her into a better person. Hope the younger brother will have a great match too.

Im JH is the main reason I watch this and the intensity he shows in these two episodes is what I’ve been waiting for. Now that he declares not to pursue TJ anymore makes me wonder if he’s pulling a Tamra-Island-que loving from afar plot.

One of the things I learned - maybe I missed it earlier- is that little sister's now ex-fiance is or perhaps now was her brother's best friend. I wonder if we will now see the brother brought more into the story because of this.

The drama is described as being primarily a love story and is being written by Kim Inyoung, who wrote THE WOMAN WHO STILL WANTS TO MARRY and a number of other good shows,

Yes, the writer has some good dramas under her belt. Not a lot of people like her Unkind Women but I quite enjoyed it because that rather unique vibe.

Some internet comments suggest that the man fixing the light is related to the rich girl of the douchebag ex-fiancé, as having the same family names. Let’s see.

What an interesting twist if he is related to her.

I believe that Kim Inyoung actually got a Best Screenplay award for UNKIND LADIES.

Definitely, more saeguks please...
No idea why are they producing so few saeguks when their ratings goes are almost reaching 10% , whereas there are so many romcoms, but their ratings are dismal.

So happy for the ratings increase for Cheer up and Under the Queen’s Umbrella along with steady ratings for One Dollar Lawyer.

On the other hand, so sad to see Love is for Suckers ratings being so low. Such great drama deserves great ratings.
