Jung Hae-in and Go Kyung-pyo go eye-to-eye in Disney+’s Connect

A start date has finally been confirmed for Disney+’s dark fantasy Connect along with a new video teaser and poster of the main cast: Jung Hae-in (Snowdrop), Go Kyung-pyo (Love in Contract), and Kim Hye-joon (Inspector Koo).

The story imagines a new breed of immortal humans known as Connects, with one such person being our hero Ha Dong-soo (Jung Hae-in). But when one of his eyes is stolen away by organ hunters, Dong-soo discovers that he can still see what that eye is seeing – despite being transplanted into the head of another man.

This brings us to Oh Jin-seob (Go Kyung-pyo), the eye transplant recipient and serial killer who has been evading capture and terrorizing the nation. He didn’t anticipate, of course, that he would become strangely connected to his (involuntary) eye donor and that Dong-soo would try to hunt him down.

Complicating matters is the mysterious Lee Yi-rang (Kim Hye-joon), who understands the secret behind Connects and offers to help Dong-soo with his quest.

The new teaser begins with Yi-rang discussing the Connect phenomenon and she explains that Connects are a new type of humans and represent a new humanity. We then cut to an upset Dong-soo describing how he lost his eye and the appearing text screens re-emphasize the key points of his story as we learn that he can see what the other man is seeing.

Through his visions, Dong-soo realizes that the man who took his eye – Jin-seob – is a murderer and is led to the next crime scene as it’s happening. As the following text screen introduces the director – filmmaker Takashi Miike – Dong-soo resolves to get his eye back.

We then jump back to Yi-rang’s conversation, but the man she’s speaking with is skeptical about Connects. She meets with Dong-soo afterwards and confirms that he’s a Connect by slicing his knee. However, Dong-soo is more concerned about stopping Jin-seob in order to prevent future murders. The accompanying text screens announce: “New human vs. Murderer / The immortal human’s chase has begun!”

In the sequence that follows, the captions introduce the drama’s main actors and we get a brief glimpse of Kim Roi-ha (Kingdom: Ashin of the North) and Yang Dong-geun (Cheer Up). The teaser then closes on Dong-soo demanding his eye back from Jin-seob and, curiously, their images become overlapped.

With Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike (The Great Yokai War: Guardians) at the helm, and scripts by Masaru Nakamura and Heo Dam, Disney+’s Connect will be launching next month on December 7.

TAKASHI MIIKE is collaborating with Disney ..... never in my lifetime I imagine this would happen LOL

This will be really bloody and probably quite disgusting, as per Miike standards. Usually I don't eat anything right before watching his movies.

This is going to fall into the well-populated category of "things I wish I could watch but can't handle." 😕 Those bloody tentacles - yikes, no way.

I'm in the rare ones who actually loved Something in the Rain and One Spring Night. He was great in A Piece of Your Mind too.

I liked him in other roles like Playbook Prison or D.P.

If you don't like romantic dramas, it's your right but there is a way to tell things.

This looks like a case of I'll be a faithful follower of the recaps. Thanks for the warning in the comments above about the films director.

Tentacles in the original poster plus a stolen eye and then Go Kyungpyo as a serial killer? No, thank you. The real world is scary enough.

I will watch anything with Jung Hae In, anything. I hope it pops up on Hulu in the states, that tends to be the trend for Disney+ kdramas.

Oooh, really? I did not know this! I would totally watch this drama, and it's probably something I could rope my partner into also, but I figured it was a lost cause because of Disney's total inability to recognize that there is a US-based kdrama audience. But Hulu would work! What other ones are there?

If you type Korean into the search it gives you like 18 dramas and a couple of really good classic movies as well. Parasite and I saw the devil.

I'm a huge fan of darker sci-fi, and this looks really cool. The visuals are awesome, and with Takashi Miike directing...!? Trying to manage my expectations as Korean dramas don't have the best track record when it comes to science fiction, but... I'm getting really excited for this!!

This is one of those times when I'm happy for the actors (because these are the kinds of meaty, against-type roles actors tend to love) and sad for myself (because I have no interest in anything this dark and gory).

Fascinating!! I actually read a lot of the webtoon... I never finished it, but it was pretty good! I'll have to go back and maybe binge it before watching :) here's hoping it's a good adaptation!

Go Kyung-pyo as a serial killer in a Takashi Miike show. I guess someone was tired of playing stoic roles!

I am going to give it a try. I don't like gore either but I am really wanting to see/not see what Go Kyung-pyo and Jung Hae-in do with this script. Can Go Kyung-pyo make me believe the little squish ball is really a serial killer? Can Jung Hae-in convince me of this eyeball thing? Can Takashi Miike make me wish i had not watched it? I'm a gonna find out!
