Well, Payback was definitely Lee Seon-kyun's show. Maybe it could have worked with Namgoong Min as the lead as well, but LSK did an amazing show as Yong. He balanced cocky and calculating with caring really well.

I've seen people who were unhappy with Tae-choon's character, but I liked him quite a bit. He stuck to his principles, even though working with Yong would have been the easier way. Would have loved to see more uncle-nephew interaction.

The only real issue I had with the drama was Joon-kyung's character. She seemed almost robotic in her behavior and cared little about other people, as long as she achieved her goals. I looked forward to watching Moon Chae-won again in a drama before Payback begun but honestly, If I haven't seen her in other roles I would have thought she was a terrible actress.

Kim Hye Hwa as Yong's partner Hong Ha-nah, Choi Deok Moon as investigator Nam Sang-Il and Choi Jung-In as Prosecutor Ham Jin all gave excellent performances and I gladly would have watched a spin-off drama with them if one existed.

Overall it was fast-paced and enjoyable. 8.5/10

A very enjoyable drama, even if you are not into revenge dramas. You never knew where the next turn would be. Goodies and baddies al walking on gray zone, but you could only root on team Eun Yong because Lee Sun Kyun made the drama his and only his. He always is brilliant even with the weirdest roles (Doctor Brain, I am looking at you) this one felt totally made for him.

Fast paced, funny and also a bit tough at times. Interesting side characters (Hong Hanna, Investigator Nam, Prosecutor Lee or Lee Jim Hoo), the drama has a weakness in FL, whose role is flat ans one dimensional, but leaving that aside, and confessing my absolute ignorance on the credibility of the stock market background, it’s a good show to binge.
