Premiere Watch: Love to Hate You

Time slot: Friday (single drop)
Broadcaster: Netflix
Genre: Rom-com
Episode count: 10

Reasons to watch: Netflix’s rom-com (yes you read that right) Love to Hate You drops on Friday — just in time for a Valentine’s Day binge. In what is being described as a classic enemies-to-lovers romance, the drama also deploys contract dating, love triangles, and more of your favorite (or unfavorite) tropes. Kim Ok-bin stars as a feisty attorney who somehow gets herself in a contract dating relationship with Yoo Teo. Yoo Teo plays a heartthrob actor known for his super romantic dramas, but in real life can’t stomach the stuff. Hmm, wonder what will happen when they pretend to like each other? We’ll just have to tune in and find out. Added bonus: the supporting cast includes Kim Ji-hoon, Go Won-hee, and Lee Joo-bin.

TL;DR: Classic trope-tastic rom-com setup with Kim Ok-bin and Yoo Teo sparring

What in the world is the other actor( I’m assuming Yoo Tae) wearing?
The hair. The pants. The overlong coat. OH GOD!!😂😂

As I get close to retirement, this is exactly the outfit I envision wearing around the house. I also plan to grow out a wispy chin beard and wear a heuklip for a hipster-Joseon combo vibe. So I hope you'll pay me a little respect as a senior, and acknowledge the attractiveness of this outfit, at least when worn by a 60-something.

Also, though I am not a fashion maven, the outfits worn by the other two actors are singularly unflattering, even though both actors very good looking, that is,if we had been able to see them in long johns.
The burlap bag cut of the female lead's dress does not fit with the variable grey checker-board look, while the suit of the male lead looks like he left his waiter's gig for his second job as an airport shuttle driver. Not that there's anything wrong with either of those occupations--just that they aren't known for their sartorial splendor. I hope whoever clothed the stars for this preliminary shoot had nothing to do with the writing or directing!

After years now of viewing these promo stills for upcoming dramas I have wondered, do these actors show up wearing whatever they want or is there a green room where they are dressed professionally by the production company?
Almost always the actors appear to me unflattering dressed and that continues with the pic above. I recall the promo pic for UNDER THE QUEEN’S UMBRELLA where Kim Hye-soo was dressed looking like Morticia in THE ADDAMS FAMILY (1964/66).

Of course, Morticia's sexiness was the only reason I watched the Addams Family (in RERUNS in the seventies, I want to stress!). I watched a few episodes of Under the Queen's Umbrella just for Kim Hye Soo. So maybe the costumer was thinking of attracting the older male audience!

Oh I’m sure you’d rock it! Difference being it’ll probably a sartorial choice and you’d rock it round your house, he wore he’s to a premier. I admire the bravery tho😂

But... But... Kim Ok-vin was in Arsedal, and she's coming back for season 2, unlike her some of her smarter co-stars. If her taste in shows is that bad, what does it say about this one 😱😱😱😱😱

I don't see much to get excited about in the credits of the writer, PD, or other cast, so I guess I'll spare myself a Friday Night of Doom and wait for the user comments in What We're Watching.

Netflix is posting all ten episodes at once so you will not have to wait long.

As an 80's kid who loved Def Leppard, Poison, Aerosmith, White Snake, Bon Jovi, etc., that dude on the right is bringing on all the feels!

Although I was not a fan of these groups, I too was hit by a wave of nostalgia looking at Kim Ji Hoon's outfit, so thanks for reminding me why that would be!
There was another Bon Jovi death hoax this Christmas--I don't know why that became a running gag in social media, since it really isn't that funny. But as long as men find shoulder length hair and trench coats worn over t-shirts/tank tops suits their image, Bon Jovi will never die.
In fact, in Kdramas a couple of hundred years from now, all male actors are going to have to wear that outfit to show that the time period was the Jovian era.

I'd forgotten that Kim Ji-hoon was in this! I actually might watch it now. Also, Kim Ji-hoon getting to keep his long hair is my favorite thing. He's so proud of it, so I'm happy to see him continuing to get roles with it.

I think Kim Nam-gil set the standard for forty-something actors sporting long hair with his look in THROUGH THE DARKNESS. That drama is set in the late 1980s/early 90s. Whoever on that production was responsible for his ‘look’ should receive an award.
Now we have KJH and Jo Seung-woo and other in that age category sporting long locks and I think it looks great.

Kim Ji-hoon's had his hair like this for a few years now!

Yes. I think it was FLOWER OF EVIL (2020) where I saw him first perform with the long locks. Before that my only KJH dramas were JOSEON X-FILES (2010) and FLOWERS BOYS NEXT DOOR (2013) and I watched those well after they aired (and enjoyed both if them).

That hair cleansed my skin, cured my depression, watered my crops. If Kim Ji-hoon ever cuts it, I will die of sadness 💔

No horse to be found yet, but that's forgivable. I'm just back here to warn everyone that this drama has a high bingeabality ánd a very swoonworthy Kim Jihoon too the max. Not to mention a huge girl crush on Kim ok-bin! (We'll look past the one too many inappropriate jokes- some day they'll learn). 2 episodes to gooooo

Glad for one drop, super mini 10eps series in Netflix 👏👏👏.
Reminds me about Seunggi note of marriage recently. I wish Knetz didn't potrayed that much harsh as per drama. Their actor/ actress deserves their own personal love life.
