Kim Ok-bin and Yoo Teo Love to Hate You
by missvictrix
There are a lot of love-hate/hate-love dynamics happening in dramaland right now, and Netflix’s upcoming rom-com series Love to Hate You (previously Love War) is next in line. I have to scratch my head for a second, though, because this looks like a 100% predictable mainstream rom-com — not what we have come to expect from Netflix.
The cast is also interesting, with Kim Ok-bin (Dark Hole) and Yoo Teo (Dr. Brain) in the lead, and Kim Ji-hoon, Lee Joo-bin (both in Money Heist: Korea), and Go Won-hee (Revolutionary Sisters) supporting. From the fact that this is a lesser know and not-25-year-old cast, to the drama is being promoted as a “romantic healing” story, I’m definitely wondering what got into Netflix’s beverage.
The story itself is trope heaven: a popular heartthrob actor who doesn’t trust women, a competitive attorney who hates losing to men, a fake dating contract between them, animosity that hides attraction — basically, you name it, and it’s there. The drama’s trailer paints the picture for us, setting up a pretty humorous tone that makes me feel like I’m watching a drama from several years back. (That will either be the best or the worst thing about it.) As can be expected, when our at-odds couple have to fake being lovey dovey, things start to escalate, and the logic of the heart takes over once again.
That’s our main story line, but I’m actually most excited about our supporting cast, because, uh, Kim Ji-hoon? He shouldn’t be relegated to the hero’s sounding board as a talent agency CEO, but we’ll take it. And then there’s Go Won-hee, whom I’ve been a fan of for ages now. She plays our heroine’s bestie and housemate, and she’s everything our heroine is not. She also falls in love at first sight with Kim Ji-hoon’s character and tries to win him over. And I don’t know about you, but I might want to see that storyline more than the main leads throwing (literal and figurative) punches. At any rate, the whole crew will be coming to our screens quite soon.
Directed by Kim Jung-kwon (Lies of Lies) and written by Choi Soo-young (My ID Is Gangnam Beauty), Love to Hate You drops its 10 episodes on February 10. Yup, just in time for that wonderful Valentine’s Day (convince me they didn’t do that on purpose).

Whoa Kim.Ji.Hoon! Glad at least this bland ml will be on the receiving end of those punches. If 'A business proposal' can surprise, any drama can.

Whoops I didn't make the connection right away
even after I've watched the show and was pretty enthusiastic about it until the 3rd part.Thinking about it now, it's kind of ironic because Kim Ok-vin and Yoo Teo's characters in Arthdal Chronicles were technically enemies.Required fields are marked *

This has everything I'm particularly weak for in romantic comedies: An Ass-Kicking Female Lead, Enemies to Lovers, and Fake Dating. Let's just hope that the kiss is supposed to look lifeless and semi-uncomfortable because, if this show is supposed to wow me, I definitely need some more impressive smooching once things get real between the two. (I want to believe but I've been burnt by bad drama kisses before. For me, they can make or break a romance.)

This sounds interesting. Kim Ji Hoon has my attention! Hope the second leads get plenty of screen time leading to us getting plenty of squee happy moments.

The plot is nothing new but has some of my favorites things like Enemies to Lovers troupe and happy to see Yoo Teo as lead...
