Live Your Own Life: Episodes 18-19 (Drama Highlights)

Hyo-shim finds herself in the middle of a very unwanted love triangle with the two cousins who have begun openly competing for her affection. Tae-min loses all good will when he escalates to an enraging degree and kisses Hyo-shim against her will. She lets him have it for his gross entitlement, but he STILL doesn’t get what he did wrong and has absolutely no remorse or respect for her feelings. He was already teetering on the edge but now he’s a full-on antagonist in my book. Tae-ho, at least, treats her like a person who deserves to have her own feelings. After kindly listening to Hyo-shim’s drunk sobs about her mom stealing her life’s savings, he walks her home. Then, once she’s sobered up, he asks her out. She turns him down flat because she’s got too much on her plate to think about romance and she’s not about to lose her job for a man. He doesn’t give up right away, but he does back off when she directly asks him to stop “hitting on her.”

The only person not making Hyo-shim’s life more difficult right now is Hyo-sung. He brings her lunch and slips her some cash to help pay for Hyo-joon’s settlement. Hyo-sung tells her to always come to him, regardless of what their mother says, when something happens in the family. Making his big brother rounds, he then pays a visit to Hyo-joon and gives him some money too, reminding him to be kind to Hyo-shim who has been forced to fill the head-of-household role since their father left.

It’s almost like the mothers in this drama are trying to be terrible – being that bad looks like work. Hyo-shim’s mom steals Hyo-do’s expensive watch to pay off Hyo-joon’s debt in Hyo-shim’s name. (At least she did something for Hyo-shim this time.) But Sook-hyang wins for most terrible parental advice when she boldly utters this gem to Tae-min upon hearing he has a woman he loves: “What’s the problem? You can cheat after getting married!” No wonder all these kids are a mess. I can’t wait for Hyo-shim to make good on her threat to leave her family to fend for themselves and see how they survive without their fixer.

Gosh! Tae-min took a trajectory nosedive this week. He's gonna need a lot of work to beat him into shape once again.
Why can't they have this two compete with work? Why do they have to compete over a woman when they have a chaebol succession plot on the ground that they can milk for whatever competition there is🤦🏽‍♂️.

Okay. I take back my anger at Hyo-sung. He stepped up, meaningfully this week.

Sook-hyang's advice... Looking at it from a character and not a villain's perspective, it was a recipe for laughter. It's so absurd. The more you think of the advice, it kinda makes sense to indecisive kdrama characters whilst very unfair but at the same time leaves you befuddled and asking : "How do you think about this things Ma'am?"

As soon as Sook-hyang advised Tae-min to cheat after marriage, I started thinking it may be time for Tae-min and Tae-hee to check and see if their dad is really their dad. I suspect Tae-hee's dad is the secretary.

Yep. I know this is KDland after all but given the reality of how status-conscious the upper-crust are in SK, it really stretches the bounds of KD-related credulity that both fell for the same person. Wasn’t it conceivable that there could be other non-arrogant, capable, honest and independent women around them? What a barren environment is this weekender’s world.

The Tae-Ho/Hyo Shim scenes are still what's doing it for me. Their scenes in episode 18 had me in stitches and grinning from ear to ear, followed by swooning and wanting to give Tae-Ho a hug every time he looked dejected. He was so smooth and sincere in asking her out. So kind and gentle as she cried and wailed out her woes. So cheeky when she needed cheering up. Well played, Ha Jun. Why has nobody cast him in a romantic lead role before this? He's perfect!

Sadly, it was back to crumbs in Ep 19. 👎 Please give us more Tae-Ho/Hyo Shim scenes writers, it's what's keeping many of us watching and they are so good together.

Meanwhile, Tae Min: 🤬 which part of "no" do you not understand 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢? He really isn't listening to a word she says nor really cares what she feels. His self-centredness is getting dangerous and nauseating now. He is really not showing himself to be the "grown up" one here now. Will he wake up to the reality of the harm he is causing Hyo Shim or will he continue to sleepwalk down his delusional path?

Kissing someone without their express permission is never, ever OK, Tae-min.

He also seemed to be reacting to all that drama talk that TV anchorwoman had spewed at him over the phone about how Hyo-shim wasn't "good enough for him," which makes him a weak-willed, double-low-life. Blech. I can't imagine the redemption arc here.

IMO, though...Tae-ho should also back off and give her some space emotionally. How about instead helping her get her money back, no questions asked??

PS: Have you seen Destined with You @al118? While Ha Joon played the 2ML, if you like watching him be adorable and sort of hateful all at the same time--I can recommend him to you in that drama.

Ah, Ha Jun's really cute in DWY. I 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 have watched that lift (elevator) scene more than once. However, it's hard for me to enjoy/swallow dramas where the writers make the FL rather dumb AND weak (I didn't find it at all cute), so as a whole I found DWY a bit difficult to watch. I can watch that lift scene again though. Bring me the FF button.

I am good with the Bar as long as I don't actually do.

Many years ago a lawyer in Kentucky named Harlan Sanders actually did do it- to his own client- and in the middle of a courtroom at that.

It is a good thing that he had his grandmother's fried chicken recipe to fall back on.

2

I could have forgiven Tae-min if he had only apologized. But he wouldn't apologize, even after Hyo-shim - who is so generous to a fault and always have to sacrifice for the comfort of others - demanded an apology, and kept on going about his feelings. Saying crap like how she can just take him to the police and report when he KNOWS she wouldn't. Taemin is trash that cannot be recycled.

I never get people who feel entitled to the other person knowing about their feelings and responding to them. This happens in quite a few dramas though. Liking someone doesn't mean they owe you acknowledgment or a positive response.

- I wrote dramatic comment on the previous episode highlights saying that the older brother can't pass the exam because of pressure & stress. Yeah, I was wrong. The guy is just not the brightest bulb in the box. I don't get how someone can attempt to pass an exam four times and still not know which material would be included in the exam. I also hate that not once did it occur to him to ask for an advice to his neighbor. I know the show is going there with him being an ex-director but I would have preferred had he not being a douchebag meanwhile to that nice actress.

- I don't see why both the oldest brother and the actress think it is Hyo Shin's responsibility to take care of Hyo Joon. Dude did not even once thank his sister.

- So basically, Hyo Shin's Live Your Own Life is deciding to date someone and to spend energy on a person that is not her family member. She is a 30 (?) year old woman, one would think 50 episodes should not be required for that decision.

- I don't care much about Taemin, but I did find it insulting that Hyo Shin did not take his feelings seriously. I would have been absolutely perplexed if the guy I worked with, who went to prison for a year, came back and just confessed to me out of blue. I get the initial confusion, I do, but it is episode 19. How is Hyo Shin still so out of loop on what he feels?

IIRC, it was mentioned at some point that he got into a top LS and did very well so he isn’t dim. Mind you, being admitted into LS generally doesn’t require emotional intelligence as well as empathy, sensitivity, self-awareness and compassion. However, they are absolutely crucial for the transformation necessary to become an ethical and principled lawyer.
Btw, IIRC, the Old Lawyer commented a few weeks ago that passing the Bar - arguably as relevant in SK - is an exercise in endurance, discipline and organisation. It is doable and not brain surgery for sure.

Required fields are marked *

One does not have to have high intelligence to pass the Bar Exam- knowledge of the law is necessary but you are correct in what else is required: Endurance, self-discipline and organization are absolutely key, and I sum these things up by stating that it is at least as much a test of character as of knowledge.

Hyo-jun absolutely could have passed the exam on his first try- if he had really wanted to. That is the difference here. At this point he is actually about ten years late into this game- because he tried directing movies first and only succumbed to his mother's wishes when he had little economic success with it. So, he went to law school and did well with his studies. But when confronted with the exam reality hit: He simply did not want to be a lawyer (Note: There is nothing crazy about this. Most people absolutely should not want to be lawyers- it takes a fairly uncommon set of characteristics to thrive in that world). The behavior we have seen from him have been forms of self-sabotage of which the absolutely greatest was his assault (and battery) of the guy who knew him from Law School. This is why he was not grateful when his sister managed to come up with substantial money for the settlement: Going to jail would have been his "Get Out of Jail Free" card as far as avoiding life as a lawyer- which is not as crazy as it sounds when you realize just how many lawyers are quite miserable.

But now things have changed. His film friends would like to use his services so being a lawyer is actually a way back into the film industry that he never wanted to leave. He would actually be a very important part of film making in that capacity. Plus, he really does feel a responsibility to pay Hyo-shim back. Put these facts together and, for the very first time, he actually wants to pass the exam.

At this moment his older brother has handed him a packet of cash.

At this moment Mi-rim desperately needs a flexible job- and would make a great tutor.

Suddenly these two have real reasons to get together, even if not yet romantically.

If he does pass the exam and takes his friends up on their offer (they certainly seemed like they wanted his help) I have a feeling that he would find that he actually enjoys doing that kind of work.

I noticed that Mi-rim was identified as a "trademark" attorney. It's rather rare (at least in the USA) for an attorney to simply say "trademark" or "copyright" attorney since the application process doesn't require legal help. ["Patent" attorney is different, of course]. And perhaps it's different in Korea.

Anyway, my first thought was that she's really an expert in "intellectual property" - which would, of course make her a perfect fit for a film company.

There are 2 stories that keep me watching/interested and the romance with Hyo-jun/Mi-rim is one of them.

Required fields are marked *

In the US there are attorneys who specialize in trademark litigation and related matters, which would include copyright infringement- the two are much more closely related than they are to patent litigation (which may not strictly require the lawyer to have an engineering degree, but most patent lawyers do). The work that Hyo-jun would do would certainly include copyright matters as well as contract and labor law matters. His having been a 'top student' would certainly come in handy in all three areas. Yes Mi-rim also fits into that sort of work as well.

0

Intellectual property law including patents, trademarks and copyrights is a highly specialized practice because of the highly technical nature of the application process, administrative review and pitfalls if not done properly. IP practices do include enforcement and infringement actions (which are some of the most expensive forms of litigation).

Thanks @quirkycase. Although I watched the raw (w/out subs) each day early in morning, I still haven't had time to sit down and re-watch with subs. Nevertheless, just from watching/listening, it's clear the writer has ditched complexity and nuance when it comes to Tae Min and Soo Kyung (TV Anchor) - I'm not sure I will bother to watch w/subs. Was also hoping for more for Hyo Jun once he learned that Mi-ran is a bona fide lawyer (looking at his phone), but they were still arguing in Ep. 19th so apparently they are still at Square One.

Meanwhile, I did some research on the bar exam in Korea. 😊

It's given only once a year - in January (first week of January, it appears). It's 4 days long.

Here's the staggering (for me) part: It doesn't matter how many people take the exam, because the admittance rate is limited to only 1500 "applicants" (test takers) each year. That # is 75% of the 2000 students admitted each year to Korean law schools. Therefor "passing" the exam isn't the real measure of success. One must be in the top 75% of test takers.

It's not clear in the drama if Hyo Jun actually "failed" the bar exam or if he simply didn't make the cut, and I imagine the complexity of the admission rules in Korea are too complicated to try and explain to viewers - it's easier to simply say he "failed".

You can get a law degree and not take the bar exam to become a practicing attorney. It appears he has failed the professional bar exam several times.

Please provide citation - I'm willing to correct what I wrote.

From my research, the law changed a few years back and applicants must graduate (or at least be 3rd year?) before they can take the "bar exam". Prior to 2017 (?), applicants could take a "judicial exam" which admitted successful candidates to practice. . . . something.

There are various web sites that discuss this, but I found this one to be the most useful: http://koreanlii.or.kr/w/index.php/Bar_exam

Two different things are at play: if you graduate from a law school you get a law degree. If you want to be a licensed lawyer you have to pass a bar exam to be admitted to the professional bar. Some people get law degrees and do not take the bar exam (example, businessmen).

HJ is not studying law courses in law school. He is shown studying bar exam questions so he graduated from law school but has not passed the bar exam.

Bar exam (변호사시험) is a nationally administered examination for admission to the practice of law. The bar exam differs from the judicial exam that the judicial exam was an admission test to the judicial research and training institute and did not admit the passers to admission to the bar. Anyone passing the judicial exam had to take 2 year training at the judicial research and training institute. The first bar exam was administered in January 2012.

Eligibility

To sit for the bar exam, one must be in his or her third year of or has graduated from any one of 25 law schools in Korea. A passing score in judicial ethics exam is required for to pass the bar exam.

Admission to the Bar

Any successful takers of the bar exam are admitted to the Korean bar but he or she still has to undergo six month practical training before he or she could represent clients on his or her own.

Perhaps it is a matter of semantics. You originally said that one does not need to pass the bar in order to become a "practicing attorney" which, in my world (USA) generally means representing/advising clients in some capacity.

0

The year that I took my second Bar exam only 61% of the applicants passed. (I have passed two separate Bar exams in two separate States). 75% is actually a fairly normal rate to me.

0

reply

Required fields are marked *

75% is a fixed number in Korea. 90% of test takers could "pass" the exam, but only the top 75% are admitted.
When I took the bar, the pass rate was also unusually low (65% if I recall correctly) in my state, but one reason was that the overall pool doubled - that year included the first graduates of a new law school with both day and night school. Fortunately, I somehow passed. 😊

An arbitrary fixed percentage does strike me as being counterproductive. If only 65% of examinees are really "up to snuff" then only 65% should pass - and if 85% have met the mark, then refusing to admit that last 10% is a waste of talent. Even if the percentage represents a fair average that really does not justify such an arbitrary rule. Thank you for clarifying this.

It's amazing how TaeMin just REFUSES TO HEAR anything HyoShim says. She may scream and shout but nothing ever passes his ears. He told the anchorwoman that he wants to go back to his beloved wife every evening after work. Has that mythical beloved wife of his ever looked happy to spend time with him outside of work? His obsession is bordering on the dangerous now - that forced kiss and his refusal to apologise showed once again that for him HyoShim is HIS dream, not a person with her own agency. BTW, what are the chances someone filmed that kiss?

TaeHo refuses to accept her 'no' too, but he knows when to back off. He is creating work opportunities for them to spend more time together, and hoping to charm her in due course.

I won't question how TaeHee knew how to run an egg tart shop. I'm just happy that at least one character in the show is living up to its name. Her character growth has been the best till now. And I'm glad HyoDo lost his watch!

So Anchorwoman is gonna be plain nasty. Wish we could have got some nuance there.

The oldest brother really stepped up this week. He is looking out for everyone in his family while working a high stress job. His words about mid-life crises were relatable. Something does happen to your psyche when you hit the mid-40s.

I enjoyed that moment towards the end when TaeHo asked TaeMin if he too was rejected by HyoShim. I look forward to this conversation next week!

He was tearing up (fake? real?) as he read the announcement that was ruined by Madam Jang's hysterics. Someone w/in the Taesan Group is supporting Grandmama (her phone and bank account).

South Korean law broadly defines sexual harassment to include bullying or coercion, verbal or physical, of a sexual nature. In the workplace, or the unwelcome or inappropriate promise of rewards in exchange for sexual favors. The harasser can be the victim's supervisor, a supervisor in another area, a co-worker, or someone who is not an employee of the employer, such as a client or customer. It includes a range of behavior from mild transgressions to sexual abuse or sexual assault.

There are general criminal laws against non-workplace sexual assault crimes.

Tae Min just makes my blood boil. How does he not see what he did was wrong?! He basically harassed, assaulted and threatened her in 5 mins. Hyo Shim should've kicked him where it hurts for him to get the message. She should tell TM to get lost and never come near her again. I can't believe he thinks Hyo Shim is his because he likes her.
Tae Ho is better at treating Hyo Shim. I did enjoy their scenes even if Hyo Shim rejected him and told him to stop hitring on her.
Hyo Sung stepped up this week. I am glad he made his big brother rounds. I wish it is better for him with his wife and kids.
I am glad that Tae Hee is finding fulfillment with her egg business. Hopefully Mr Yeom will not do anything to mess things up for her.
Hyo Shim's mom did something for Hyo Shim but it was at the expense of her other kid. She should've found out first how much that watch cost before giving it to the loan shark.
Hyo Shim should just follow through with her threat to her Mom so she and her brothers can learn to fend for themselves.

With how much they mention that scammer look-alike, she may show up later on to steal Kkuet-soon's life savings. Even though she is annoying, I'd hate for that to happen to her. Scammers targeting elderly folks are just scums.

I can't reply to you below, but I skip so much of Kheut Soon scenes that I completely missed the fact that she once worked in a textile factory.

I think Grandmama Choi was heavily involved in the Taesan textile mill. My theory is that her family owned it or she - as an excellent seamstress - was the original businesswoman from which it grew.

Grandpapa, however, appears to be a holy terror and now that you mentioned Kheut Soon's prior history, I wonder if there is a connection. Has she ever mentioned a husband? (I thought so - and that he was no good, but can't recall).

Oldest brother was sort of awesome this week with looking after Hyo-shim and Hyo-jun and sassily calling out his wife's parents' foibles too and being hilariously petty, though he has a skewed view of his own mom.

I'm glad that Hyo-shim's terrible mother sold Hyo-do's watch. And it's karma for how Hyo-shim's savings were spent on all the times he got in trouble. I just wish the mother appraised the watch first.

Hyo-do should have stuck with Tae-hee. However, it's great that she's rid of him. A man like that would try to make his gf/wife/partner feel small because she's more successful than him.

Hyo-shim's life is just suffocating. She needs to be rid of both cousins. Tae-ho is much better than the delusional, sexual assaulter Tae-min, but he's still a burden. It's a depressing commentary how Hyo-shim was looking to get a bf so as not to be seen as some easy target. Like how single women wear rings on their ring finger to ward off unwanted attention. I'm hope we get to see her coworker's single male cousin.

Been meaning to comment on this, but I would hate to be one of the renters living in Hyo-jun and Mirim's goshiwon. Trying to study while the two shout, slam doors, and knock on walls. I did LOL at the scene of Mirim just pushing Hyo-jun's buttons and when she was running to her room to escape his wrath, her glasses went askew for a bit. Good comedic touch.

I wanted to know how would Tahee’s shop operate successfully (I know. I feel weird that I thought about it more than I should). How many eggs is she going to get from that farm for nothing or is she now paying for them ? I assume the owner of the egg farm has come back offscreen and is now doing the hard work himself otherwise neither of them seem to be doing the hard work of caring for the hens. And, commercial baking is hard work. I just wish they had shown her at least once getting up at the crack of dawn and working bloody hard but who am I kidding? This weekender has a lot of cartoonish moments.

But the fact that she is obviously putting in that hard work may be the primary reason for Mr. Yeom to be keeping this a secret even from her mom.

For the first time I am buying into the idea that he may be her real father. If so then the last thing he would want to do is get in the way of her growing up. He will keep this a secret for as long as he practically can.

That wreath he brought may actually have been entirely sincere- but also serves the purpose of warning her of the dangers of her situation.

Is the shop anywhere close to the Villa? After a customer told Tae Hee to hire some help, I'm thinking HS's mom might be the perfect helper - she's waited tables before, knows how to cook and. . . .would be fun if and when Hyo Do finds out.

In fact, I like this idea a lot!

HS’s disjointed sentences as she tells TH why she is crying and TH’s expression at his tie after she’s blown her nose on it (I mean, why would he even look at it?) were precious.
I am really disappointed in the writer for the way they are shaping up the SFL. There was a lot of potential there. Sadly we have settled on the jealous and mean woman.
When Hyo Seong asks Hyo Shim to support Hyo Jun with him one last time, does he know about the 100 million won his mom stole from her? I might be missing something, but if he did, isn’t it a lot to ask of her on top of the 100 million? However I was glad to see him rebel against his wife. Hope that doesn’t change.
I am not too concerned about Hyo Do losing his expensive watch. His mom did to him what she’s been doing to Hyo Shim all along. Doesn’t redeem her in my eyes though, especially with the continued mental manipulation. “I have an insurance policy “
While TM kissing HS was really bad - cringey bad - I still cannot help feeling sorry him. I think he just feels like he should have said something a long time ago and doesn’t want to wait any more. He’s trying to tell her how she feels and see where that lands. I know no one would agree with me necessarily, and this could just be that I like the actor a lot, but this is my take on it.

Raising my hand! 🙌 I agree with you. Tae Min seems desperate for a bit of happiness. I wouldn't mind this s**t if I thought he would soon learn that his infatuation/fantasy is not simpatico with his duty to Teasan Group. But I can't watch 30+ more episodes to get there.

At the end of episode 18 I was most upset with Tae-min. He is too smart for this. He is forcing himself on Hyo-shim- and pissing off Anchorwoman at the same time. I am also disappointed int the writer for deciding to reduce Soo-kyung to a simple caricature as an angry, entitled, jealous rich B****. I actually have the same words for her as she used to Tae-min: “That is not your style”. My words to the writer: Stop wasting the talents of a good actress.

Because every Weekender seems to need a Birth Secret I will go ahead and throw out one possibility. We are all now familiar with our Evil Aunt/Tae-min’s mother and also now know that her Sinister Minion Yeom Jin-soo is her longtime friend from her hometown. What if Tae-min is actually Jin-soo’s child instead of the child of Kang Jin-bum? It would explain his motivation for what he has done. I am not saying that this is the case- just raising a possibility.

At the end of Episode 19 Tae-ho asks Tae-min “Has Hyo-shim rejected both of us?’ (She has- firmly) At least Tae-ho seems to be catching on while Tae-min is still caught up in his dream. Meanwhile Big brother just handed middle brother some cash- just at the moment when Mi-rim desperately needs a tutoring gig.

Mom stole from her son to pay off the daughter’s debt? At least she is consistent. But if it means that the youngest son finally buys a clue maybe this is a good thing.

Writer did three characters wrong this week
Hyo-shim ,Tae-Min, Ms Choi.
Hyo Shim is assaulted by Tae-min.
Tae-min assaults Hyo-shim,is domineering Run Hyo-shim ‼️
Choi is on her high horse and is nasty and condescending
Looking forward to the next photoshoot for Hyo-shim
Perhaps it will open new avenues for her to escape this mess.

I sure hope that the new photo gig helps Hyo-shim.

I also hope that Ms. Choi will do two things: First use her journalistic skills to learn the real truth about Hyo-shim and the two brothers. Second, actually listen to what Tae-min told her about his dream of a nice family life and ask herself why she could not be the one who provides that to the extent that it is realistically possible (as opposed to Tae-min's idealized version). Do not forget that the first time that she is talking to Tae-min she is telling him that she wants a real marriage- now she needs to understand what constitutes a real marriage and re-analyze this situation through the lens of her own stated desires and goals: In a real marriage the partners must be there for each other. She cannot and should not try to change herself into something that fits Tae-mins idealized fantasy BUT she can try to see how she would be there for him emotionally, which is really the yearning at the heart of his fantasy, an actual reasonable need. In short, Ms. Choi needs to ask herself if she can be there emotionally for Tae-min. If she can then she needs to change her tactics to show him that. If she cannot then she needs to be honest with herself and realize that she shouldn't want to marry him. This is what her character should do- will writer-nim give us that or will she continue to be almost a cardboard cutout?

I finally watched ep 19 w/subs last night and after hating the way the writers created Wrathful Soo Kyung in Ep 17 and 18, was pleasantly surprised when she mentioned that her family didn't always have servants and that she learned how to maintain a household. Also surprised she has two brothers - both of whom went to the US for education. I thought she was an only child and that Dad was relying on her for his legacy - but with 2 brothers, her position w/in TV Live isn't as secure as I thought and it explains why she doesn't dare cross her father.

So, is writer-nim finally giving us some meaningful hints of Soo Kyung's family history? Or was the conversation merely a pretext for firing up Madame Jang for a seek and destroy mission?

Yes, we finally got the teeniest look at our 2FL's background and confirmed that she is not simply a spoiled Chaebol heiress but rather someone who is used to the idea of both hard work and the need to fight for what she wants. If only Tae-min could actually see her for what she actually is - but he lacks that ability, something he has demonstrated in spades with Hyo-shim. This was part of what writer-nim was doing in these episodes.

As for firing up Madame Jang: Of course, that was part of her purpose. Soo-kung is a very smart lady. Too smart to take action directly against Hyo-shim, knowing that Tae-min's backlash would hit her. It would be much better to let Mommy Dearest take his wrath. The difference in brainpower between these two women could not be more starkly demonstrated.

Ah...I finally smiled at these last episodes, and didn't even push the ff button once! Thank you writers for not wasting so much time on the landlady. I'm glad to see some changes in some of the characters' behaviors towards Hyo Shim.

Oldest brother reminds the younger brother to be better. Mom paid off Hyo Shim's debt in the only way she can, to sell off her youngest son's watch. I laughed at Mom's simple-mindedness....she saw the watch as the way to help her help Hyo Shim. And that the son should help as well...hahah...It's the mom guilt finally kicking in! I'm glad she didn't realize how expensive that watch was, otherwise she would think up of other schemes.

Tae-Min...what was it with that kiss! Blerchh...just give it up. He's being such a child..."I loved you all these years, you should love me back! I won't give up on you! I was ready to be slapped...slap me if it will make you feel better..." Whyyyy...ugh...and he's going to force himself unto Tae Ho's golfwear business to get closer to Hyo Shim...ugh!

I love Tae Ho and Hyo Shim's interactions...super cute and I can see her falling further for him. He's way more understanding and less pushy. He lets HS move on her own terms, and he apologizes when he realized she was uncomfortable. Tae Min should learn from his cousin..although I don't want him to win her over.

Anchorlady is being all coy with evil chaebol mom...they're going to cause trouble for TM and HS. I think they're going to use HS to threaten TM into marriage. And what is it with the "I can't get my man so I'm going to threaten my competition" trope. If he's not into you then he's not into you, just move on! Talking about pride...gah...grow up.

Tae Hui's doing well....I hope Hyo Do finally realizes that you got to put in the elbow grease to make money.

I am still waiting for Hyo Jun and Mi Rim to finally work together...the writers are trying to build up the tension between the two to something....study buddies? romance?

Btw I saw the child actress singing videos...she's wonderful!!

Tae-Ho needs to take a step back for now, as what Hyo Shim currently needs is someone understanding and kind, but not (yet) a boyfriend, considering all the nonsense that's going on around her. She is clearly not immune to his charms, but hold your horses Tae-Ho! Now's not the time. Looks like he will try to create work opportunities for her to earn her desperately needed money (although, will TM scupper that plan?). And of course, we need reasons for TH and HY to be on screen together (even if they are just bantering) for our viewing pleasure and to progress the plot!

TM will be an even bigger scum if he does anything to ruin those work opportunities for HS for whatever stupid reason he can come up with.
I am all for any reasons to keep TH and HS on our screens even if they are only bickering. I do not mind if they are not together yet. There are still 30+ episodes for that.

Acting without a plan is out of logic with Tae-min's character. Supposedly smart, considerate, and tactful one suddenly acts recklessly putting Hyo-shim in danger. He knows his mother and his betrothed one will find out who he loves.
Then the kissing was so wrong but I was baffled with Hyo shim just taking it. Usually, in these situations, the normal reaction would be to step back and push. And why she always runs to him every time he calls. Though she says she is a professional she still allows encounters outside of work, especially after unwanted confessions and taking the gift etc. What I mean is writers' descriptions of characters do not fit into how they are writing the story.
Still waiting for the FL to start her independent life.

I don’t think freezing and not pushing back is that unusual in RL too so it rang true to me. I’ve had that experience when I was really young and so have many girls and women who have shared such stories with me.
Also, the reason that she tries to accommodate Taemin’s summonses is because of the indoctrinations of hierarchy and gender. She is concerned about her job and not offending him as it would ricochet back in her and could be to her detriment in a number of ways. At worst, Taemin could pull another MRA move and tell her that she has been leading him on.
