Ahn Bo-hyun is a Flex x Cop in new promos

SBS has begun releasing promotional materials for its upcoming police drama Flex x Cop, beginning with posters and a teaser that showcases our filthy rich officer Ahn Bo-hyun (See You in My 19th Life) in all his pretentious glory.

In the plot, Ahn Bo-hyun plays Jin Yi-soo, a third-generation chaebol that wields every nepotistic connection he has to his advantage, whether that be to get a job in the police force or put baddies away in jail. He works within the violent crimes unit, but while he would rather coast on his ability to work smart not hard, his team leader Lee Kang-hyun — played by Park Ji-hyun (Reborn Rich) — is determined to whip him into shape.

Kang-hyun is essentially the antithesis of everything Yi-soo stands for: she’s brash, hard-working, and uninterested in leveraging connections or social hierarchy. She already has a lot to prove as the first female leader of the violent crimes unit, but when Yi-soo joins her team, she finds her hands full butting heads with him while trying to solve cases by the book.

The short teaser gives us a peek into their opposite personalities. While Yi-soo smirks on a motorcycle joyride down the highway, Kang-hyun grips her van’s steering wheel tightly as she chases down criminals. We then cut to Yi-soo’s start date at the precinct, and while he’s dressed to the nines and loving the media attention, a more disheveled Kang-hyun just glares at his extended hand when he goes to pose for a photo op. Looks like these two will have their work cut out for each other.

Additionally, while they aren’t in the promos yet, Kang Sang-joon (True to Love) and Kim Shin-bi (Revenant) will fill out the rest of the violent crimes unit.

Written by Kim Ba-da (My Name) and directed by Kim Jae-hong, Flex x Cop will premiere January 26 in the Friday-Saturday slot.

Ahn Bo-hyun and "all his pretentious glory" sounds about right. He is great at playing a prick begging to be taken down a peg ... or ten. I was little iffy about the casting of Park Ji-hyun but that look in the screencaps has me convinced. Yay! If the drama can nail this vibe then it is time to blow the party horn. 🥳

Would love it if this were pure fun. Low on childhood trauma. High on opposites learning to work as a team in situations where the murder investigations are part of the story instead of shoehorned in.
