1. been MIA due to: life got unexpectedly busier, in a good way.
2. only watched 4 shows this year bc i rediscovered *star wars* and watched all the series on disney. amazing.

4. finally getting around to watching *boys over flowers*. hmmm. poor girl ends up in school for chaebols, gets bullied, has to choose between lee min ho and another chaebol. boy grabs girl too roughly and pisses me off. i feel like i have seen this before. even though it’s like watching *heirs* all over again i am enjoying it. FL is adorable! i can’t get over the TERRIBLE haircuts & styles LOL lee min ho with curly hair!!! WTF! the soundtrack is bad (bad songs and bad singing) and the sound in general is awful. also, rich people just piss me off.
5. miss hanging with people here! i haven’t been here this year (is it really may already? HALF THE YEAR!) and i don’t even know what’s playing.

2024! Been MIA on account of work getting seriously busy all of a sudden. Also I wrote my first book of poems, so all my free time went towards that. Yay!

January – only managed to watch ONE kdrama – *Gyeonseong Creature*. Enjoyed it. Waiting for S2 now I guess. Started *Long song for illusion*, enjoying it so far. But what a weird title.

*Kim’s Convenience* is a Canadian tv show of a Korean family in Canada. Hilarious, love the secondary chars, but why a very obviously Chinese guy instead of a Korean one as the son? WAEEEE!

    I know you might be asking rhetorically, but I’m still going to attempt to answer:

    It’s because the show runners and producers are predominantly white and didn’t care about Asian accuracy— “they all look (and sound) the same”. Simu Liu probably unknowingly added to the mix in the sense that all he cared for was that there was finally a show about Asian culture and representing being made, so he jumped at the opportunity despite the cultural differences (Liu being Chinese vs. The show being about a Korean family)

Yeah, so I’m addicted to watching vanlife videos on youtube and wishing I could live that way, at least for a while. But *only* if I had these cute appliances that you can probably only get in Korea! This is so cute perfect it makes my heart bleed.

Since there\’s so much body switching in Kdramaland, I\’m asking Santa to switch bodies with:
\”Gil Daran\” in *Big* (2012) bc she gets to be married to a teenage-version-in-adult-body of Gong Yoo. Plus her family is adorable.

\”Ko Moon Young\” in *It\’s ok to not be okay*. She\’s just a little bit crazier than me, lives in a fairytale castle, bags Kim Soo Hyun, has an amazing wardrobe and goes on a roadtrip in a camper!

      i don’t have any 🙁 i almost bought some a while ago but i thought it would be too spicy, even for me! i ate the sweet&spicy tteokbokki cup from “topokki” and i LITERALLY cried while eating it! lol
      i’ve been eating pepper sauce since i was little, and i think i have a pretty good tolerance level, but my tolerance isn’t up to par with korean standards! one day, though!

        but you can add only a little bit, instead of how much they put in tteokbokki, like a teaspoon instead of a tablespoon or more! it’s really good…

    I tried jjangjangmyon some months ago and I liked it too. It came with its own sauce but I added hoisin sauce (maybe that’s a food crime 😅) and I liked it even more.

      mmmm that sounds good! i’ve never had hoisin but from the description online it makes my mouth water! you should see the ramyon i make at home: sometimes i turn it into mac&cheese sometimes tomato sauce & cheese, sometimes with curry and veggies 🙂 fusion!

21. The OST you are obsessed with – SPECIAL MENTION.

Since most of the 51! shows I watched this year, only a handful were actually from 2023, and none of them had memorable music. So Im going to use the older shows as reference.

*Big* – an oldie but a goodie (sort of) – the soundtrack was very melodramatic and the theme song \”Because of you\” by Davichi is 100% not my type yet it wormed its way into my heart and it was the first Korean song I learned! It\’s sappy and ridiculous and amazing at the same time, the orchestration is phenomenal and in the chorus the violins do a little chord progression that feels like you are getting stabbed in the heart. There is also a softer, acoustic version by Gong Yoo, who starred in the show, that will for sure make you fall in love with him.

*Flower of evil* – amazing soundtrack all the way, with a shoutout to the theme song *Psycho*.

*Yumi\’s Cells S1* – so many good songs! My faves being *Like a star*, *Timing*, *My heart*, *Ling Ling*, all that make me feel like I\’m the one dating Wuung! Feels!!!! So many feels!

*Sweet Home S1* – I mean, Imagine Dragons singing \”Warriors\” as the fighting theme? It puts ME in a fighting mood. I want to kick some serious butt and kill mosnters and destroy buildings with my bare hands. Also the subdued \”Sweet home\” that Yoon Ji-Su plays on a guitar during a quiet moment is devastatingly sad.

*Goblin* – had some good songs too! *Who are you*, *Stay with me*, and the theme *Round and round*.

From 2023 I guess the only show with music that caught my ears was *Perfect marriage revenge* – The theme songs *Halo* and *Meaningless* were awesome. The girl that sings *Halo* has an amazing voice and reach, I mean, she hits that high note in HAAAAaaaalo on an open vowel and in mixed voice? That girl is fire!

    I also thought that PMR had some rely punchy OST and made absolutely perfect use of the Halo song as a cliffhanger every now and then. Her voice was truly conveying all the meaning and depth of emotions that permanently boiled turnip persona Yi-joo could not

Episode 9 of *Pale Moon* – only 1 more to go!!!!! Saving it for tomorrow bc I just watched 4 eps in a row. Then I just have to finish *The King Eternal Monarch* and suffer through Lee Min Ho being handsome yet bland? annoying? I mean, if he showed up on my doorstep I wouldn\’t turn him away, anieyo! I\’m surprised he has zero chemistry with Kim Go Eun, since they are both cancers. They should be an instant match! Still, I am enjoying the parallel world travel & time stopping shenaningans.
