Premiere Watch: Pyramid Game

Time slot: Thursdays
Broadcaster: TVING
Genre: Youth, thriller, suspense
Episode count: 10

Reasons to watch: Bona takes the lead in this webtoon adaptation and high school thriller as a new transfer student in a The Lottery-esque hell. At first all seems peaceful — but is that ever possible for a transfer student in a K-drama? Soon, our heroine discovers that the monthly class vote is actually a terrible game where the student with the lowest rank becomes the target of bullying. She’ll try to survive and stop the pyramid game entirely, but in the middle of the ~drama~ we have a bunch of rookie actresses who are ready to put their all into their victim and bully roles.

TL;DR: Bona is in for a disaster as a new transfer student

I'm not optimistic about the rookies' acting, but Bona's character getting revenge against the bullies will be satisfying to watch.

Exactly one of these dresses seems like it was made in 2024.

This isn’t my usual genre, but I have had a huge soft spot for Bona ever since Girls’ Generation 1979 that was further solidified by Twenty-Five Twenty-One, despite her limitations as an actress. This seems like a role she can excel in (although I find it amusing she is still playing a high school student). Bring it.

Oh, and I’m slightly ashamed to admit that I’m just awfully curious about Jang Wonyoung’s sister.

I didn't know what to expect, but the first four episodes have been outstanding. I hope the next six episodes are just as good.

There is a lot of young talent on display here and I hope to see some of these young actresses future work.

Maybe it's a(n even more) serious problem in SK. I could imagine that, taken from how the public react to small deviations from norms.
So like orphans, children left by parents, and adoptions are frequent themes, not just because it makes for interesting traumas and relationships, bullying may be something that K-drama needs to address again and again.
