Drama viewership ratings for the week of Feb. 26-Mar. 3, 2024

Love Song for Illusion completes its run, never quite gaining back the audience it drew during its first episode, but points for giving it their all regardless. Also in the Monday-Tuesday slot, Wedding Impossible took over for Marry My Husband with quite a good turnout for the premiere.

In our weekend slots, Flex x Cop comes down off last week’s peak a little, but is still doing quite well, and the premiere of Wonderful World also looks promising. Captivating the King finished its run at a high of 7.8%… and everyone waits to see what the Queen of Tears premiere will do to the ratings next weekend.

Yeap, Wonderful World has changed the weekend ratings (a drama with no romance at all). Just as I predicted earlier on. Can't wait for Queen of Tears to be out next week.

Yes, you are right significant changes for some shows as there are a couple of shows with similar start times and Dr slump starts when those shows are mid episode. I would have thought these shows would appeal to different audiences. Friday/Sat viewing schedules are pretty busy so I wonder if it’s first episode curiosity and so more people watched it live and then watched their usual show at a later point. It will be interesting to see if it maintains and or increases these numbers and if the other shows return to their previous highs next week.

What lead to Dr Slump’s drop so close to reaching a 10 rating?

A reasonable start for Wedding Impossible hopefully it will only climb from here.

Between him and her drops again.

A drop for Queen of divorce which is interesting when so many clues were found in these episodes, let’s hope it doesn’t drop again for its finale.

I would love to know the ratings for the impossible heir such a shame it’s on a streaming site.

I have a niggling doubt that SK does not do too well on just romance bits. Looking at how the couple was set to have their dating phase, I was not surprised at the drop. I expected it. I will also not be surprised if the double truck of dooms bring the ratings soaring back. Nothing like some OTT in the peace and quiet of a dramaland. I actually love how Hanuel pre-shadows - is it too much to expect this peace and quiet to stay in our lives for some more time? Why is it so hard to live an ordinary life?
Drama gods say No, can't do. Because if it was ordinary no one will watch you. Proof is in the ratings pudding.

I don't watch The Impossible Heir but from what I've of it in promos and clips, I imagine it would stress me. I would just be thinking about the inevitable love triangle and likely fractured/broken bromance.

If those things don't happen by the series' end, I'll be so surprised.

I am happy that Captivating the King had great numbers for its finale! I sure hope JJS has plans to take another saguek in his future roles!

Agree. It ended on a much better note than I expected. The last two episodes were very well put together. The fact that they end up together is icing on the cake because JJS deserved a happy ending for the character he played. I dont think it will be a classic or rewatch, butI do hope JJS comes back in more saguek.

JJS was the best in the drama. I too am pleasantly surprised it ended well, for his character's sake.

I’m so pleased to hear the happy ending as sageuk is not really my thing. As a JJS fan, I will find time to watch it.

Hope his next project is a comedy, rather seeing a happy character than a tragic one.

He will be performing as Hedwig from March 22 onwards.

This is the nth time he plays Hedwig - the biggest question is if I will ever be able to watch him or Cho Seung-woo on stage?? A big sigh.

I would love to watch them onstage *sigh*

1

He's sharing duties with Yoo Yeon Seok. Its JJS' 4th time and YYS' 2nd.
I try to watch the YT snippets but obviously they're not enough and leave us aching for more. Nothing can compare with the experience of live theater.

Well, I have to say YYS’s Hedwig is prettier.

tvN will regain its glory days with Queen of Tears.

Yay for Love Song for Illusion
I feared the show would go down to Between Him and Her levels haha. I hoped it would go back to the 2% range.

Oh, that show is interesting haha
I still don't know what to say about it haha

Not a bad start for Wedding Impossible. QoD - questionable ratings but I guess many, like us, are watching to see how it will end?
Too bad Wonderful World is not available on Hulu for US beanies. Was looking forward to it.

Very unhappy that Wonderful World is not available in my usual platforms - might have to succumb to D+ now.

LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE is winding down and so not doing any better.

WEDDING IMPOSSIBLE is off to a very promising start- with good reason.

I am a little surprised that GORYEO-KHITAN WAR is not doing even better.

Me too on the G-K war. I really have been immersed in it. Kudos to the actors and the production team. It must have been hard to film and they did such a wonderful job with it.

The GORYEO-KHITAN WAR rating of 12.9% for episode 30 is a series high. GKW’s lowest episode rating was 5.2% for episode 3.
As an interesting comparison, KBS’s KING OF TEARS (2021/2022) (32 episodes) had an average rating of 9.7%.
Just eyeballing GKW’s episode ratings it looks to me that after 32 episodes its average rating will be right around that of KOT.

That is interesting. Of the two KOT was much better written.

Between Him and Her's biggest crime is having one episode per week format. This might have (semi)worked for a thriller & horror & murder mystery, but definitely doesn't for an already slow-burn, less dynamic show. I hope producers use it as a cautious tale.

I am not watching little Channel A’s 12 episode BETWEEN HIM AND HER (Viki US) but in late 2018 over the course of 12 weeks I did watch the Channel A 12 episode drama TWELVE NIGHTS (Viki US) which was also a slow burn and also had similarly abysmal ratings. (BHAH might have slightly higher ratings if you can believe).
Anyway, TEWLVE NIGHTS was a very enjoyable love story and it made me a fan of Shin Hyun-soo who (all 6’ 2’’ of him) played a contemporary dancer. There were a faithful few beanies who watched and commented.

I am also grateful to Viki for licensing dramas from the smaller outfits like Channel A.

So if seen as a binge watch a year down the road, would it be a bit better do you think? I was intrigued by the premise but haven't heard great things.

It is not a masterpiece and would have definitely not been a hit, but I feel like it could have found its small audience.

I checked out the first few episodes and would have probably continued watching if it was not for the scheduling. From what I saw, it was realistic enough and delivered on the premise.

Doctor slump going down?
The characters are annoying and childish. They's professionals and adults for f sake. There is no chemistry too. hyung shik's cringe acting too
