Lee Bo-young uncovers her husband’s secrets in Hide

What would you do if the person you married turned out to be someone completely different? Coupang Play’s upcoming mystery-thriller Hide poses this question to its lead Lee Bo-young (Agency) in the wake of her husband’s death as the subsequent skeletons start tumbling out of his closet.

The newest trailer opens to a crime scene, and Na Moon-young (Lee Bo-young) asks why her husband Cha Sung-jae, played by Lee Moo-saeng (Maestra – Strings of Truth), died. The official report is suicide since he left behind a note, but Moon-young seems to disagree and starts her own investigation into the circumstances of her husband’s death.

Subornation of perjury, switching victims, money laundering, and hiding a corpse — these are just the beginning of Sung-jae’s list of crimes, and doubt creeps into Moon-young’s mind. Is this truly the same man she knew?

However, as the trailer follows Sung-jae before his untimely end, it depicts a man crying and hiding his face — he looks more like a pawn than a mastermind. Moon-young thinks so, too, and she asks an enigmatic Lee Min-jae (Oh! Young-shim) what he ordered her husband to do.

As Moon-young discovers more mysteries than answers, the trailer shows a glimpse of Lee Chung-ah (My Dearest) as she asks Moon-young if she is all right. She isn’t, of course, since her husband just died and left behind his problems for her to solve. The trailer asks how much will you trust him, and as if answering the question, Moon-young says that there must be another reason and vows to find out what her husband really wanted.

Directed by PD Kim Dong-hwi (The Tale of Nokdu) with scripts penned by Lee Hee-soo, Choi Ah-yul, and Hwang Yoo-jung alongside writer Yoo Bo-ra (Reflection of You) in the creator role, Coupang Play’s Hide premieres March 23 and will air on JTBC in the Saturday-Sunday slot.

You got me at "Lee Chung-ah (My Dearest)" but having a separate creator and three writers seems like a writing-by-committee evil omen.

@Lord Cobol: Nail on the head. An often mentioned comment by new viewers about Kdramas is that watching them 'feels' like reading a book ...because of the overarching plot with a beginning, middle and an end...as well as the continuity of one writer at the helm directing the nuanced character-layering & plot points that are spread over the series with deliberate pacing as the story moves in episodes (chapters), its momentum carrying the plot toward it's ending by its creator. In my earlier years I 'tried' writing for tv with five other writers and every session became a competition of personality instead of ideas as each writer pitched the headwriter, vying for 'their' plot or character points to be included in the script, leaving the head writer to patch it all together. Even when an idea was accepted, they were usually watered down by 'concensus'. Not sure how scriptwriting works in the industry these days, but I worry that Kdrama screenwriters are going the same route. The writer is one of the first things I check about a drama nowadays before watching: 'how many cooks will it take to spoil the broth'. In the early Kdrama heydays when the Hallyu Wave was beginning to rise, the scriptwriter was the big well-known & bankable star of a Drama and was usually the biggest expense in the production budget. That importance has diminished quite a bit as I notice many writers are labeled "staff " in the credits. I'm not saying a writing 'team' never works by any means. MY favourite example is "Behind Your Touch" written by Lee Nam-gyu, Oh Bo-hyeon & Kim Da-hee-- a great team of talents. So go figure...what DO I know? So I'll be watching 'Coupang Play' of course.... hoping to let go of that old bias. Yet still I keep noticing that the KDs I like best are those spun from one imagination instead of many ...the scriptwriter who expertly guides her characters and their story deep into our hearts.

Charlotte thank you for sharing your story and confirming what we suspected all along! 😳 😉 I guess like most things in life a team can indeed work wonders if there is synergy but who know how to put together a team. 😊

WHAT? Lee Moo-saeng AND Lee Min-jae?? Why wasn't I paying attention to this before? You have 100% of my attention now, show. That's some cross-generational talent.

Wait wait AND Lee Chung-ah, a woman who played the best ever crazy queen/emperor lady from China? Will she ride horses and shoot arrows again? Or drive cars and shoot guns? I'm not picky.

I don't even like shows like this, but man, the talent! I'm not so thrilled with @lordcobol's note about the too-large writing team. Maybe though it'll end up being so bad it's good...that would maybe be even better.

And you haven't even mentioned the most talented of all Lee Bo-young.

Look at the talents in the drama! Lee Chung Ah, Lee Moo Saeng and Lee Bo Young. The thrillers in March certainly have the best cast.

Our dramaland is a little too starry these days. 🌟 ⭐ 💫
The glut of veteran actors are awesome.

Well you put together Lee bo-young and Lee Chun-ah, you have a winning combination, no matter what. LCA is one the few special actresses that I place in the same league as LBY.

I love a good mystery thriller, especially "uncovering the life of the murder victim" type.

Will keep an eye out for this one.

Asian Wiki says it's an adaptation of the Welsh series "Keeping Faith" which was an awesome series.
JTBC (which will also be streaming this) did well with "World of the Married", which was also an adaptation. The trailer looks good, so I'm intrigued to see how they do this.

Incredible, incredible cast. Will the plot twist be that Lee Moo-saeng, despite his many crimes, was actually a decent and loving husband who cared about his wife? Only time will tell.

Honestly. I love the cast and everything about this here... There's no way I'm skipping Lee Bo-young, Lee Chung-ah and Lee Moo-saeng.
But, I fear this is a drama centered on a plot I've come to never enjoy irrespective of the allure. Not even the allure of Jang Na-ra and Sohn Ho-jun could keep me watching My Happy Ending after episode 4.

Reading each dedicated teaser for this project I realize that I'm no longer feeling excited about this project. And if I find it that it bears any semblance to those kinds of dramas I've written off, I'm off.

I really love Lee bo young and Lee Chung ah. But I need both in a nice fun romantic comedy or just a comedy. They are only getting these gritty and heavy roles.
