Premiere Watch: Blood Free

Time slot: Wednesdays (2x week)
Broadcaster: Disney+
Genre: Sci-fi, thriller, drama
Episode count: 10

Reasons to watch: Famed writer Lee Soo-yeon’s latest screenplay is here! Following up Forest of Secrets, and most recently Grid, Blood Free is all about the CEO of a synthetic meat company, and what happens (in the rhetorical sense) when the food chain is disturbed. Starring two of my personal favorites — Han Hyo-joo and Joo Ji-hoon — this thriller should not only keep us on the edge of our seats but also ask some important questions. (Also, can we have a bit of romance please?)

TL;DR: Han Hyo-joo is a CEO who’s made synthetic meat, and Joo Ji-hoon is her conflicted bodyguard

And it's gooood! Really enjoyed the first two episodes--should have been doing other things, but got sucked in almost immediately with the CGI glamour shots of the running herd of cows 🤠 🥺

Problem is, now I wanna hot bodyguard. May I have one please, @kafiyah-bello ?

Oh @elinor , fell mistress of the benighted streaming service search box....have you been able to find this on Hulu or Disney+ in the US? I know it's not to be posted until tomorrow, but usually there's a hint by now, right??

Oh wait...I remembered one of her tricks right as I pressed send: https://www.hulu.com/guides/what-to-watch-on-hulu. Blood Free IS promised here for tomorrow right now.

Thanks, past @elinor! And, well, thanks also to present @elinor, just 'cause.

Just call me Trixie.

I'll almost certainly check this out despite my ridiculous backlog of current shows. Yay for a new midweek watch! I like the format of releasing both weekly episodes the same day - just about the only thing I like about the Mouse and its minions.

Shirtless Joppa? Joppa working out in the gym with or without shirt? I mean, those are key to the plot.. I don't need to ask.....

I don't see Gong Yoo with an unnecessary neck tattoo anywhere here, so I think someMouse needs to up their game on this one. 🤔 💪

Well the standard was pretty low there ( Imp Heir) so the only way is up :) Crossing my fingers as it will be lovely to watch Joo Ji-hoon in something.

Thank goodness for the twice a week release. Between this heavy thriller and the fun Lovely Runner, my weekly entertainment is set already. Let's hope for the best (and an easier storyline to digest compared to Grid).

I would also not be opposed to some romance. I'll have to carve out some time for this.

It seems romance lite. But then it is a K-drama and non-romance dramas usually have insane chemistry / romance. 😊 For now 🤞

So excited for another Joo Ji-hoon drama and paired with Han Hyo-joo AND being on Hulu is a three way win!

Han Hyo-Joo in anything is going to be B plus rating at a minimum and this looks like an interesting subject. Looking forward to it!

I feel like I'm the only person not excited for this. The premise just leaves me cold. But I hope to hear that it's amazing!

The opening credits did give me grade B kdrama vibes as in  this doesn't feel like it has the same amount of money thrown at it as Impossible Heir.
I personally don't think they did enough to engage us with the characters in the first episode, the female lead is very cold, calculating and JJH hasn't really been given much to work with other than cliches.
Also the first 10 mins is very visually graphic in regards to animals.
The subject matter of a synthetic meat company seems a bit dry but I'm willing to watch the next couple of episodes for JJH and to see if the story hooks me in.

Thanks for your take. I'll steer clear for now as it still doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy, but again, I hope it hooks you and others who were excited about it.
