it’s OPPA’S BIRTHDAY!!! happy birthday ryu jun yeol <333

(major spoilers abt reply 1988 below)

fell in love with rjy after reply 1988 and watched a few of his movies after (little forest, a taxi driver and the king), but junghwan from reply 1988 is my favorite character of all time even tho he ended up being the second lead (which i’m still not over asfhgsh T_T) ryu jun yeol just communicated so many emotions with his microexpressions, it’s amazing how much he was able to say with just his eyes. if you think about it, junghwan never even said he liked deoksun until episode 18, but i think the viewers knew he did from episode 3-4. i rewatched the show a lot and feel like you can even tell from episode 1! i’m a sucker for tsundere characters, but junghwan stands above the rest because of how cute he was with his crush. i still can’t make it through episode 18 without crying, and although it was painful to watch junghwan’s first love come to an end, his character was just so noble and i don’t think any other actor could’ve pulled off that character like he did. he didn’t just pull of his loveliness well, i loved watching his interactions with his family, because he truly does care about them deep down, he just can’t always express it.

but enough about junghwan, his character is why i fell in love with ryu jun yeol, but the actor himself is SO LOVABLE! he works so hard as an actor, he was actually an extra in the producers, can you believe that? his big break came with reply, and i am so happy he received acclaim for that role, he truly does deserve it. he is such a versatile actor with an amazing range (he’s played romantic roles, funny roles, dark roles, and even more…) and he is so expressive and talented in everything he does. and he has SO MUCH CHARM AND IS SO HANDSOME AAAHHH!!!

the bts of reply 1988 were just great to watch, i think almost all the actors are exactly like their characters except that ryu jun yeol is not reserved and laughs around a lot. youth over flowers was GREAT to watch because of how much he supported his friends (his bromance with park bogum made me smile so much 🙂 ) and of course, i am happiest that he is dating hyeri in real life— it cures my broken heart but it’s so nice to see my two favorite characters be happy in real life too. oppa is such a kind person and i only want to see him happy.
