#2021 roundup
Day 13-drama beanies liked but I didn’t/ drama I liked but beanies didn’t.
Don’t come after me but this is supposed to be an unpopular opinion so…
I didn’t like beyond evil as much as the others. Sure it was a decent thriller/murder mystery but I wasn’t blown away by it. I decided to start watching this after seeing the rave reviews but maybe that’s why it disappointed me- my expectations were too high. And probably because I binged it, there was no time for the suspense to build up. Shin ha kyun being cryptic in the first few eps also didn’t help. I knew he wasn’t the culprit because that’s how shows usually are- the main leads are rarely bad even though the drama will try to convince us of the opposite. Now if he actually was, that would have been interesting but that wasn’t the case here.
Also I really liked hometown cha3 more than the others I guess. I didn’t mind the lack of story that much. Maybe I just was in the mood for something light hearted and where I could just enjoy the sweetness without having to think too much.

Beyond Evil: You’re not alone (*whispers)
Been stuck 2 episodes from the end for weeks now. I totally acknowledge that drama is well written and acted, but I just don’t feel as invested as I felt when I watched The Good Detective or Stranger – maybe it’s just that I can only watch so many police dramas with grey characters

The thing is dramas rarely have grey characters as leads, so I was sure he wasn’t bad. Also you should finish it, if just to get one more bean 😅

Been considering finishing this week, if only to get a Bean to give to Happiness 😋

Glad to know I’m not the only one. I was very nervous posting about this since I only read beanies praising this.

*raises hand shyly* I agree with you. I watched Beyond Evil because of all the raves I read on here. I liked it well enough, but I didn’t think it brought anything particularly new or exciting to the table. The acting was good in a chewing the scenery kind of way.

Exactly!!! It was a good drama but nothing special for me as well. The 2 leads were fantastic but like I said SHK being deliberately shady didn’t work on me.

    Phew, and I thought I was alone….
I started ff-watching very quickly, and I am presently stuck on ep11. I don’t think I’ll finish. TBF, though, I didn’t like most of the dramas others have liked – Good Detective, HCha3, Move to Heaven, Navillera. My list of dramas beanies liked but I didn’t is so long, I just decided not to make one !

You should!!! There are lot of differing opinions on different dramas and it’ll be interesting to read why something I like you don’t. I can already see you don’t like 3 of the dramas I liked so it’ll be fun 😜

I agree with you on both. I liked the moody small town vibe of Beyond Evil more than anything but that was gone by the last 1/4 when as usual, the story went down the predicable corruption route with the boring Big Bad I called from Episode 1.

Romances tend to get the lack of story criticism but to me, romance is the story and HomeCha had the townspeople stories too, at least. I thought it was one of the better rom-coms we’ve gotten lately.
