Finally getting around to watching Wok of Love, aka Greasy Melo. This is definitely a show I’m super glad I am marathoning rather than live watching. 😌

I heard some mixed/bad reviews for this show and went into it with zero expectations. But I quite liked it. The chemistry between the three leads and the gorgeous cooking and eating scenes won me over. And the episodes were a breeze that they just flew by. Only the FL’s mother is insufferable. Other than that I enjoyed the show very much and Junho makes everything better. And him calling Jung hyuk Hyung made my heart warm. I was actually thinking of doing a rewatch after RSC as I want always want more Junho.

Everything wasn’t 100% but I loved it. Jang Hyuk is so funny, and also so tender, and there’s a kitty! 😻

Kitty was an interesting choice, but wish they hadn’t been so obvious about the fact that the only way they could keep it in shots so long was drop or spray food/nip on the spot they wanted it to stay near. 😾 After the first time or so, my brain kept thinking “Ahhhhh…it’s licking the concrete/table again!” Made me cringe each time.

The mother was the only thing that really bothered me but otherwise, I really enjoyed it and didn’t think it deserved all the bad reviews.

I have a feeling a lot of folks were upset about the final coupling. I love me some Jang Hyuk big time (I think I was hooked from Chuno, and he became part of the group that is “Yes, I’ll be watching this show because X actors are in it,” for certain after Tree with Deep Roots.) But the direction they went with also made sense to me (and honestly, it was pretty clear early on which way the OTP would go–even if one of the promo posters didn’t follow the usual Golden Rule.)

And I went in for Junho lol
I really loved Jang Hyuk here though too. He was the perfect 2nd lead and I rooted for the bromance just as much as the romance lol I could see why he would take this role even without getting the girl.

I’ve been on the edge of a cliff on this. Maybe I should add it to my watchlist?

Ok, finished it tonight. Overall, I liked it, but given they had to short it due to news preemptions at the time I did feel the pacing being a bit off at the end where some things weren’t resolved as well as I would have liked. (But at least was spared another potential wedding ending!)

Don’t have time just now to go through all the old recap/vid threads to check to see if I was the only person that felt this way…but one thing that I was eagerly anticipating but never got satisfaction on was watching the FL’s reaction when she saw the tattoo they forced him to get early in the show.😕Maybe the makeup crew was all “AWW, HELL NO WE’RE NOT DOING THAT AGAIN!!!”?

Maybe I’m just still hung up on back tattoos after a certain other show that also happened to involve a hotel…😬?
