Thanks to the comments of @snarkyjellyfish on “Life plan A and B”, I watched all the 6 episodes in a row and wow, I’m stunned. Didn’t expect so much rawness, reality, from a drama. I don’t think any other show can surpass the portayal of the struggles like this one (excepty my ahjussi) and it totally gutted me I must say. The love, the betrayal, expectations, failure, regret, insecurity, selfishness so many many emotions played out by rainie yang and the actor who played the boyfriend, I don’t think I have the proper words to describe my emotions. I hated the boyfriend and how he kept pushing her and never ever supported her but this is like why everyone should watch this drama cause this is how life is in reality. Life will keep throwing us curve balls and people will say they love you but they only love themselves at the end. The torment of Lei ( sorry I don’t remember her name) was so pulpable and I relate to her so much that at times I couldn’t bear watching it anymore. But like the show says flowers will bloom again so it doesn’t matter whether it’s plan A or plan B. I am still a bit depressed from watching it but I still love the writer for this gem of a show. I still want to say a lot but I will stop the rant here lol. If anyone wants to discuss the show feel free to leave a comment. ^^

I liked everything about this show apart from the ending.

*mega spoiler for people who haven’t watched it *

Did she have to end up back with the other guy? Why did that young guy have to die? I would have preferred to have the other version of Rainie’s character to have stayed by herself and run her restaurant rather than have this ‘fairytale’ ending with some guy. Actually, I would have liked it if the other guy hadn’t died but she’d still been conflicted about the fact that he was so young or something.

But – the rest of it I loved.

Have you watched any other of the Q-series dramas? They all seem to focus on very different type of stories compared to the normal Taiwanese dramas.

I agree, of all three of the guys, I liked the younger restaurant boy the most. He was simple, honest, sweet, innocent and most importantly didn’t have any issues being with a career woman at a better status than him. I would also have loved the other girl to run the restaurant on her own than running to this other land with the dubious director. I still didn’t think he’s good for her. I don’t get why the younger guy had to die as well, probably implemented to bring more drama to the story but could have been done without. What she needed was someone who would love her without questioning her dreams or goals, and would also support her from the side. And considering how many issues the other guy had, at least I myself wouldn’t be comfortable around him.
I also thought the original boyfriend was quite selfish. What right he had to tell her to not go to Shanghai since he can’t go? It was his dad, so understandable that he has responsibilities, but the girl didn’t have any ties with them as her colleague said, so it was unfair to blame it totally on her. So him saying that she abandoned him is completely untrue. From the start, I thought the guy needs to get his equations right.
I haven’t watched any Taiwanese drama before but from the descriptions, they always seemed the sweet and fluffy types. This one was totally a different kind. I really loved how they showed the progression of an urban relationship and the choices, the burdens, the goals they have to deal with in this age. And damn, I didn’t know they have 3 more Q series! Would definitely check them out. Thank you Cloggie!

There are two more of that series that I would highly recommend: A Boy Named Flora A and Love Storm (Netflix titles). They are very different than Life Plan A and B – I have to warn you about that!

The synopsis of Love storm does sound interesting. I will definitely check both of them out since it’s part of the same series. Also kind of refreshing to see that the main topic of these dramas is not based on love? Which we don’t see a lot these days lol.

Well… Love Storm is about love really, and family I guess. Flora A is much more about family. The premise sounds weird but it’s very heart-warming
