Before becoming an actor, Ahn Hyo-seop was a trainee under JYP Entertainment and almost debuted in the South Korean boy band Got7. In October 2015, he was launched as part of the four-member project group One O One. After releasing a few singles together, the group has been inactive since 2019.


Ahn Hyo-seop made his acting debut in the 2015 MBC drama Splash Splash Love. In 2016, he was cast in the MBC family drama Happy Home, in which he was nominated for Best New Actor at the 36th MBC Drama Awards. In 2017, he landed his first leading role in the MBC fantasy romance Queen of the Ring. That same year, he was included in the main cast of the KBS2 series Father Is Strange. In 2018, he acted alongside Shin Hye-sun and Yang Se-jong in the SBS romantic comedy Thirty but Seventeen. His work in the series won him the Best New Actor trophy at the 2018 SBS Drama Awards. In 2019, he headlined the tvN series Abyss, opposite Park Bo-young. In 2020, he became part of the hit SBS drama Doctor Romantic Teacher Kim 2. He took home several acting citations for his performance in the drama, including the Best New Actor for TV at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards.


Ahn Hyo-seop’s family emigrated to Toronto, Canada when he was seven years old. Aside from his native Korean, he can also speak English fluently. His English name is Paul Ahn.
