Strong Girl Nam-soon main post week 2
Hi!
I made a few gifs, and I can see @attiton has come up with someof her usual brilliance, too.
I will post under this main post for this week’s episodes, so take the permalink, if you want to find it quickly again.
BTW here’s the permalink for my gifs for the first two episodes

Seon-ha, if you and I could exchange messenger or email adresses, we could say what we were doing so as not to spend ½-1½ hour on the same gif? When there are so many gifs that wants to be made.

I still have the same feeling of tremulous sceptiscism about PCness of SGNS.
Until further notice, the writers are mostly throwing us hints, to be picked up later.
We are all sure of course that Nam-soon’s parents will get back together again; her father only divorced her mother out of shame, and she doesn’t know that and is also obviously still hurt.
Whenever someone hints at them still liking each other, methinks the Lady doth protest too much.
(That gif will come at some point … maybe Seon-ha?)
But for sure: The energy used searching for Nam-soon is not equalled by the energy grandma has put into searching for her missing husband. It seems a bit sus, am I right? I mean, obviously she has not killed her ex (she wouldn’t be able to lift a spoon, then), but she hasn’t looked for him either.
He went to “find himself” just like Bong-soon’s mistreated father, so maybe she was treating him the same way then?
All this is discussed because she finds a new gent, and hears that he is single since his wife died. She is very empatic.

Our pretty boy SML has this revolutionising suggestion to his board. Such a crazy suggestion can only be made with a strange agenda, amI rite?

Of course, it could just be because he is a cool guy, and that lab could be his vigilante way of exposing the criminals. But I doubt it.
Rarely have I seen a pretty boy smile so villainly.

SML is on the hunt for our strong girl. For what purpose? Only he knows for now.
It won’t be for romantic reasons for sure. He seems too much to be a villain for that.

But is he somehow steals the superpower, then he ought to lose it too, when he didn’t use it for good. It’s obvious they would find some solution to that, (it’s different if you have the Y chromosome, or when you steal it, it is mirrored and can only be used for bad things, or … ) , but the best solution (if he does steal it) would be that he had to do good things all the time and ended up getting a taste for it.

I loved this version of the classic wrist grab. (Remember to fill out your Bingo Cards). Our ML was gonna drag her off in the traditional way without telling her why, rightous because he knew where they were going though she did not (and shouldn’y have to wreck her little brain with that kind of matter, the trope seems to say. But:)

Her honest exclamation at the filming (remember to mark the “meta” slot in your Bingo Card) was something that was not only giffable, but also can expected to pop up as a comment on the next 30 dramas we see:

When I make gifs, I make them mainly for me. I see things in the show and I want to extract them, rearrange them, and make a new narrative out of it. It’s a form of creativity for me.

I don’t usually think of it as “coverage” of a show.

Now, I’m not going to lie that near the end of DWY, my efforts started to feel more like obligatory labor than something that really came from my own desire to express myself. It was for that reason, since you had started to make all your own DWY gifs, that I asked you to split that work.

What I would like to do, though, is to go back to what makes me happiest–and I think it’s what makes the community respond best–and that’s just for me to make gifs that help me tell my own stories best.

Even if we both make the same gif, I can promise you that we’ll be weaving different interpretations and narratives around them.

Sure enough! I like that … and I feel the same way, especially about the difference between “covering” a show and then making gifs because this or that scene just seemed too giffable not to do it.
And I think we only twice, or maybe thrice, have made a gif out of the same situation, even if I re-giffed the “My heart shines too” thing to talk about responsibility.
Maybe in DWY I felt mostly that the Shin-yu swoon-gifs I made when he was parked drunk and asleep in front of her door could have been the same or very close to what you would have made. While I would be surprised if you started making canine inserts in your gifs. 🙂

I really don’t like dogs, Cecilie. Like really. So no, unless they’re playing the villain.

Also, it doesn’t take me an hour to make a gif. You want to tell me your workflow? Maybe I could help you cut down your time?

        2
        3

Ehm, I film a bit (usually with some trouble, because the timeline pop up, or some menu is affected, but … it is done) and then I take it into Clipchamp. I cut away stuff I don’t want to have. If it’s like “Are writers really paid for this?” that takes a few minutes, but if it the clip is too long to make a good gif, or if I don’t want to look at Hong-jo all the time, it takes a good deal of time finding the edges of each part and cutting it. Sometimes, … often, actually, … I adjust the tempo along the way, and that often means that I cut off the parts into smaller parts, and then they gradually go up or down in tempo, like “1.1 – 1.3 – 1.7 – 2 – 4 – 2 – 1.7 – 1.3 – 1.1 – 1″.
And I often actually take a teeny bite of the start and move to the ending of a clip, because then I can put in a transition, so the picture doesn’t jerk so abruptly every few seconds.
(That whole thing of cutting and fitting went a bit awry with the ” Sad Shin-yu and and Sad Tucker perks up at being called” gifs. Mostly, it is more manageable.)
Clipchamp can make gifs, but there are no options like size and degree of optimalisation, so I mostly make a new mp4 out of what I made, and move it to ezgif, where I can make gifs that are prettier and larger.
Imgflip has a “forverse” option, where they play something forwards and the backwards, and it makes the transition from end to start look really good. But they only make small gifs. But in ezgif, you can reverse the clip, so … sometimes I take a gif or a piece of a gif and reverts there, and back into clipchamp to imitate the forverse option. I reversed the last second or so in the “Shin-yu and boy roll around barking” clip.
I have been writing across some of the gifs – partly because it was fun and underlined what I wanted to say, but partly, honestly, to not step on your turf, like when I did it first with the “Hong-jo blames herself takes full responsibility for everything in the whole world”-gif; I thought it was fun and kind of disrespectful* to make her words roll over the screen, and also, I was sure you would make a brilliant and different gif about that same scene, which you did. (*And I wanted to be disrespectful to her confession of guilt because it made no sense that it should be her fault).
But it takes some time to find the best kind of text effect, and the best font. For some reason, the fonts often only load when I try to change it, so it takes some time scrolling between a few fonts. (Luckily for me there are not so many to choose from, so though that may annoy me, I might just be choosing fonts for hours, if that was possible). With most of them, I also cannot choose between normal and bold, for some reason.
I also choose the colour of the letters and sometimes of the background. And then place the writing where it should be. And as I said, I sometimes use the transitions you can put on, and apart from trial and error of different kinds of transitions and the mood they bring, (also depe

(also depending on how long you decide they should take), they uhm … I don’t know why, but I mostly have to try several times before they are placed. They kind of slip.
That all should still not take all that time, but matter of fact is that I’ve thought several times that I’ll just finish this one, and then sleep, and when I look up again, it’s an hour later. Tsk tsk tsk.
And then, you know, imgur or at times giphy. And tryit. and dramabeans.

But now I am all fascinated by “don’t like dogs”. Personally, I am not a “dog person”; I am so happy to not have a dog. But I sometimes meet nice dogs that have nice owners, and think they can be quite sweet. Shin-yu the dog jumps at you, like he shouldn’t, but I expect he mostly smells better than a dog … much better, I imagine ….

… and mostly keeps the more charming features like devoted, long-lasting loyalty, warm, loving eyes, and exultation at seeing his loved one.
And it seems, he likes to bury things in the ground, too. But, thank God, not in the same way as IncelGardenGuy™.

          2

Yes, I can’t quite explain it. I’ve never had a really bad experience with any dog. I’m simply uncomfortable around them. I have a physical repulsion of sorts. I mean I can look at pictures, and sure, some dogs look cute–but when I actually think about being around them, my insides curdle.

Like I say, though…I know this is about me…and, since I will not be tending to any dogs, there are more dogs for dog people!!

Cryptocurrency is part of how that drug thing works, and since he knows enough to have lost all his money, he may know enough to be useful later.
I like him better than that policeman, but I am pretty sure my hope of being surprised are in vain.
    But remember: Cryptocurrency.

    Strong Girl Nam-soon Detail
My daughter noticed an important detail in that short moment where everybody at the police station is contemplation Officer Kang Hee-sik’s underwear. I clarify her findings in this gif:
