Jang Shin-young joins melodrama My Spring Days

Jang Shin-young (Empire of Gold, Thorn Flower, The Chaser) is joining the upcoming MBC drama, My Spring Days, and will play a love rival who gets in the way of the pairing of the two leads, SNSD’s Sooyoung (Dating Agency Cyrano) and Kam Woo-sung (King Geunchogo).
The melodramatic plot will portray Sooyoung as a terminally ill young woman who is able to extend her life when she receives a heart transplant. She meets Kam Woo-sung, the widower of the woman whose heart she received, and they begin falling into a special kind of love.
Meanwhile, Jang Shin-young’s character wants Kam Woo-sung for herself, and she’ll do her best to redirect his attentions. She’s a coldhearted and sharp-thinking team lead in the PR department of a hospital, and is a favorite of hospital chairman Shim Hye-jin (Endless Love, Secret Love Affair). A beautiful, sensible woman, she is known for her eloquence.
Jang’s part doesn’t sound like a very winsome one, as the two leads are obviously meant to be together (his new flame has his deceased wife’s heart, for goodness’ sake). However, clues point to Jang being the first love of Lee Jun-hyuk (Equator Man) in the show, and having Lee Jun-hyuk moony-eyed over you would be a nifty consolation prize, indeed.
All of the actors mentioned have finally confirmed, and filming will begin shortly with Lee Jae-dong (I Miss You) at the helm and Park Ji-sook (Hero) at work on the script. My Spring Days will take Fated to Love You’s Wednesday–Thursday timeslot on MBC when the show concludes in mid-September.

Ahhh I can't wait. I just love Kam Woo-sung, I don't even care what this drama is about, I'm watching it anyway! Ok, that's not true. I care what it's about. It's not the typical drama I go for, but it does actually sound pretty good so I'm super excited :)

I had a good laugh at the promotional material describing the storyline as "fresh and original". Clearly hoping people have forgotten Summer Scent - how I wish I could!

Summer Scent! Thats what I thought too, and there are probably other similar ones. Another melodrama of its kinda, they could have make it a rom-com to make it less unoriginal.

I especially love the male casting, these guys have both been away from dramas for far too long, but this premise... urgh.
I find it morbid and slightly icky and not at all romantic. It's a "special kind of love" all right - gives a whole new meaning to loving someone for what they've got on the inside.
Maybe I'll just have to go rewatch Alone in Love and City Hunter to get my fix.

If they wanted to be original, have the lady with the heart transplant tell the guy pining after his wife's heart to stay away from her and hire a shrink. He's a weirdo.

The premise seems very much like director Yoon Suk Ho's (the director of the 4 Seasons Dramas, which includes the Hallyu quintessential "Winter Sonata", for all of you who are not familiar with the 4 Season Dramas) summer themed drama of the 4 Seasons Dramas, "Summer Scent".... Just, this is one is the hospital-verse version of it lol XD

Actually, the filming have already begun a few weeks ago. I have seen a lot of pictures of the cast members filming in market/airport/hall ... etc. It was mainly Sooyoung, Kam Woo Sung and Lee Jun Hyuk though.
Anyway, I don't think Jang Shin Young's character is his first love because from what we saw in the picture of the filming, Sooyoung and him were holding hands together, most likely being a couple at the beginning of the drama. So, it's pretty evident that she was his first love but because she got carried away by the memories of her heart, she falls in love with his brother who is her heart donor's husband.
