Kim Jung-eun and Nam Bora cast as sisters for SBS weekend drama

It’s been a while since Kim Jung-eun has had a solid drama project that hasn’t gone sideways on her (Oohlala Spouses, Korean Peninsula), but I’m always rooting for her to return in something good. She’s currently being courted to headline the upcoming SBS family weekend drama Goddess of Sales, as the eldest of three sisters who struggles to succeed while getting revenge for her family’s loss.

Nam Bora (Shark) is still starring in the current SBS daily drama I Only Want To Love, but has signed on to play the youngest of the three sisters. There must be something about three siblings that hits a sweet spot in weekend family dramas, because you hardly ever meet a drama family on Saturdays and Sundays that doesn’t have a minimum of three daughters. Kim Jung-eun is considering favorably, while the middle sister has yet to be cast.

The new weekender comes from PD Oh Se-kang of Wife’s Temptation and writer Jo Jung-seon of Goddess of Marriage and Sons of Sol Pharmacy. It’s about three sisters who were born to a very modest, common family and get robbed of what’s most precious to them by people who have everything. They end up all alone with nothing, and the heroine lives her life for revenge, determined to go up against her family’s enemies and avenge her father.

The drama tells the story of her persistent effort to succeed in this world on her enemies’ terms, and guessing by the title, she must become a successful businesswoman in the process. It’s funny how Nam Bora constantly ends up the little sister of someone hellbent on revenge (she was Kim Nam-gil’s little sister in Shark and probably the ONE sunny spot in that whole dark drama). Let’s hope there’s a little more sibling bonding in this case.

Goddess of Sales follows Birth of a Beauty (which follows Endless Love) in early 2015.

This writer has some kind of fetish, what with the 'Goddess' in the titles? Goddess of Marriage was an awful trainwreck btw so it's a pass for me.

This is a step up for Kdrama or, really, American family casting: the two women playing sisters look more or less alike.

Don't mind me, I enjoyed the inside joke on this topic on Running Man. Shin Mi Na was the guest actress and the PD announced that Lee Kwang Soo was her fraternal twin brother.

I love Sons of Sol Pharmacy, but the Goddess of Sales title makes it sound dangerously close to Goddess of Marriage so if it's going to be more like that...

Fingers crossed, I'll like this better. Whether I even check it out depends on the male leads. I do like the female leads quite a bit though.
