Open Thread #68

Hey folks, apparently I am nominated for a “Golden Klog” award (that’s for Korean blog) over at Korea Sparkle in the “Best Blog About Korean Pop Culture” category. (I had no idea there were so many Korea-related blogs out there; it’s kind of funny that the only ones I’ve really heard of are all smooshed in the same category — the pop culture one, that is.) So go stuff some ballot boxes vote!
Also, I have a very, very serious question to ask you:
What is your favorite Korean ramyun (ramen) brand? I have faithfully cleaved to two brands for the entirety of my life, yet now they have both failed me. They must’ve changed the formulas on the Neoguri and Shin brands recently (particularly Shin), and this makes me SO SAD. I don’t know what’s different, but that lovely feeling of satisfaction has gone and now I’m all adrift in the ramyun aisle, and it is a very lost, aimless feeling. Life without a reliable go-to ramyun brand just feels wrong.

An Sang tang myun!
Ramen cravings come to me only once in a while and this is one of the few brands I will eat. It's supposed to have some seafood taste like neoguri but much cleaner, spicier, and less neukki!
I love to chop in a few slices of jalapeno, egg and green onion at the end.

I really like Nong Shim's Soybean Paste ramen!
It looks like this:

...except in Korean instead of Chinese.
I wish you much success on your quest for the perfect ramen :)

Whooo, so appropriate since I"m looking for a new ramen brand. I liked neoguri over Shin, but lately both of them don't taste as they used to. I thought it was just me overboarding on both(college student here), but I guess not. I'll try out some of the suggestions in the thread. I hope the Korean market has it....
Samyung
Tang myun...
I guess I'll start out with those!

Samyang, Shin and Nong Shim are all my favorites! ( actually those are that only available in my country, Indonesia ) If you happen see Indonesian's brands, Indomie, you should give it try! :P
My housemate is crazy about Nong Shim, and she prefers it over real food anytime! :))
Whoa congrats! it's a little late, but I definitely vote for you!
Yes instant noodle is not good for our health but it's so damn good so I can't help it... :)

Congrats for the nomination.. you have my vote. I think you trully deserve to win. I love your reviews on korean ent. I've been visiting your blog nearly everyday since I stumbled on your blog two years ago.. I tried popseoul too but then give up after just a few weeks (they are very negative on everything/any situation, and thats not good, it just makes me hates them).. anyway, thank you for the wonderful drama caps/synopsis and the latest information on korean entertainment.. Keep up the good work :)
