Open Thread #106

My new cat Maeby! Too bad she didn’t come with a sister I could name Surely. Her new favorite game is Catch the Red Laser Dot. My new favorite game is Direct the Laser Dot Back and Forth on the Hardwood Floors so the Cat Slides All Over it Like a Feather Duster on Speed.

Cute cat! Just a random thought to share: Nov edition of Details has Adam Lambert on the cover, and his kohl plus hairstyle makes him a twin of Tae Kyung!

For mishane:

Epic. Spanning decades and continents, bloodshed, and tears. Love the song, the framing of the couple, the lighting, KB looks gorgeous, and JD is really killing it with his Logan-ness. Once again, "True Love Stories Never Have Endings."

A gloriously well-done K-drama always remind me of the Epic.

@mishane - that was the most awesome thing i have read all day. that speech.. *tear*. i believe that my senior quote in the yearbook came from buffy as well. I think i paraphrased the quote Whistler said in the beginning of Becoming Part 2. Something along the lines of "There are moments in our lives that make you. Even if you see them coming, you're not ready for them. It's what you do afterwards that counds. That's when you find out who you are" Man. Buffy was such a great show. so many life lessons.

@b020 - i gots my boxing gloves on hehe! i'll have to check out that clip when i get home.. no video access here at work :( unfortunate, but TOP must wait for me at home...

oook this morning was wholly unproductive. must make up for it now.

. . .or in an hour or two.

@ Evil/Willow interests: I LOVE HER! she's so kickawesomely evil!

ok ok actually i think the reason why i do love her so is because by season evil willow (yeh i can't remember the number!) GILES GETS TO KICK MAGIC ASS!! the penultimate eppy when giles walks through the door is amaaaaazing! go giles go giles go giles! *i love him!

(on a side note, if anyone gets to watch merlin on bbc one- giles plays uther pendragon- awesome bbc drama albeit with crabby CGI hehe)

but yes, i like the fact that magic is has this seductive and addictive quality to it and that willow ends up eating people- scary but it's time willowy willow got some action time i reckon. the nerdy weevils were too poopy to really be bad guys so it's a nice play on the end of season big bad :)

dang, i don't actually OWN any buffy DVDs. must rectify that soon so they can sit alongside my angel ones :)

I haven't read all 154 comments so sorry if this is already out there. Is it me or is IRIS one awesome drama!! Finally something worth watching. I live the cinematography, soundtrack, storyline, casting, and even the acting. I don't find LBH attractive but he us sure charismatic. KTH is ok. Better than before. Is TOP from the US? His English us not bad.

So Friday finally came...

I was anticipating all week for this time so I can finally sit back and enjoy some good old dramas...and yet b/c of YB I already watched it all. Now I'm left with nothing to watch.

+_+" I was so stressed out about midterms this week (and next week's midterms) that I forgot how relaxing it feels at the end of the week. At the same, it's so vexing because I spent so much time studying for a stupid computer science quiz and stupid tiny little mistake practically failed me and ruined my mood right now....EPIC fail. This makes me remember that humble theory on Study = fail

No Study = Fail
Study = No Fail
No Study + Study = No Fail + Fail
(Study)*(No + 1) = (Fail)*(No + 1)
Study = Fail

+_+" On the good side, my tests are probably good. =D

Let's pray for all the best... I still have another week of stress to go through. +_+"

Congratulations on your beautiful cat, JB - she is adorable! The name reminded me of 2 fish I had years ago - one named Maybe, the other Luke (I was in a relationship with a guy called Luke at the time). First Maybe died, then Luke - needless to say, the relationship did not work out. :-)

You guys talking about VM made me really miss that show. I think I should re-watch Season 1 soon. I bought the DVDs when they came out and thought it was the greatest show ever. All the fanfics I read - that fandom totally took over my life for a year or so. LOL. Season 2 was such a disappointment though - too high expectations, just like BBF episodes 13-24. ^_^

Usually I am watching kdramas and jdramas after they have aired and are fully subtitled because I like marathons, but at the moment I am watching 2 Korean and 2 Japanese dramas as they air. You guys should check out JIN - it is great!

Have a wonderful weekend you guys!

Late to post again! 159 went before me, maybe instead of trying to first I'll aim for last!
Lovely cat (aren't they all). If by chance she tires of the laser dot try a piece of brown paper sack tied on a piece of string and better yet the whole brown paper sack!
I'm officially banned from the pound by my family as I've reached my full quota of pets.
2 dogs and 2 cats. I think my family has visions of me becoming one of those old ladies you see on the news, overrun with cats!
This week I've not watched much in the way of dramas, got to episode 14 of Sons of Sol Pharmacy House and can't find Ep 15 to watch! Oh well it's god to have a dry spell every now and then. Vowed not to start IRIS until it's finished airing!
Have a good weekend!

Samsooki 41 and 51:

Love the screenplay concept... and I'm a hardcore Kim Rae Won fan and very very partial to Gong Yoo, but please, please, could you recast the Kim Jae Won role? I just can't stand that guy. Ever since Wonderful LIfe. I just can't watch him. I gritted my teeth through My Love Patzzi, but I promised myself I'd never have to do that again. So pleeeease... no KJW.

I'm in Buffalo this weekend. This city has amazing architecture. But it is pouring with rain... the walking tour had to be abandoned. And I have a bad feeling about the all the walking planned for tomorrow, too.

"Annyong" to Maeby-cat. Someone should name a cat Steve Holt.

True story, when I got my first ipod I thought about how men name their cars with female names. So I wanted something like that for it... and thus named my ipod Lucille III. But now I have my video ipod so it's Lucille IV. (I like Arrested Development a lot)

You're Beautiful: Is Shin-Woo at that boiling point yet? I'm waiting for him to kick a tree (Smile, You reference) or something because dude.. you got burned. Inferior to a guy who does drive-by shopping...maybe Mi Nams next gift will be a big mac.

Re-watching (slowly) Dal Jas Spring. Soon I will curling my hair and painting my nails black....

@161 coco

You sound like me, I have two dogs and two cats too. Both of my dogs are getting old; I'm starting to worry about this a little bit. I have a 14-year old Maltese (Lucie), a 12-year old black Lab (Bailey), a 4-year old girl cat (Wootie) and a 1-year old boy cat (Oscar).

Lucie is the very spoiled Queen; her feet rarely ever hit the floor anymore as she's arthritic and looks like a backwards letter "C" when she walks. :-(

Bailey doesn't like to be spoken to directly by anyone, so we have to ask Lucie (or whoever else may be nearby) "Is Bailey ready to eat?" or "Does Bailey need to go outside?" before he'll actually do anything. He also has a split personality disorder and has to be locked up if someone other than a resident of our house is around. He turns into Cujo.

Wootie is extremely anti-social and lives upstairs alone. Think feline Greta Garbo. But when everyone is asleep she sneaks into the bedroom and sleeps on my back.

Oscar is like living with a 2-year old. He likes blueberry muffins the best and his mortal enemy is The Shoestring. He likes to lure unsuspecting victims with his see-my-sexy-tummy pose...then moves in for the kill.

I'm so glad someone brought up I Am Sam. I wanted to ask OTers their opinion, but I was too late for OT105.

Is that the general consensus: 'painful'? It was my first drama after I discovered Haru Haru MV on youtube and fell love at first sight /sound (his VOICE!) for TOP. I really liked it....

I think its time to rewatch it.

Here's the breakdown of my household;
Big Mac- yellow lab aged 14 and very arthritic. At 100lb I'm afraid I can't carry him anywhere! He is my favourite but don't tell the others.
Coco (yes I use my pets names for my online ID)- Chocolate Lab age 7 but thinks she's still a puppy. Has more energy than either of us know what to with. Way too smart for her own good. I found out too late why this one was in the pound!
Gracie- cat approx 11yrs old. Sweetheart! I found her abandoned in a cardboard pet carrier in a dumpster! (No, I wasn't dumpster diving! I just heard her crying as I walk by.)
Little George- cat aged 5. He's the reason I got Coco. Went to the pound to find a kitten to keep Gracie company as my old cat had passed away. While I was there I just had to look at the dogs and the rest is history! Any way George is my hunter and gift giver. Very much an outdoor lover but comes home to sleep usually occupying 95% of the bed. I have been known to wake up with my leg falling off the side.
Love them all.
Sorry to use this space to talk about my pets but they are my drama watching companions!

My animals are always with me when I watch my dramas too. They give me funny looks during my extremely loud fits of laughter, or do the pet equivalent of eye-rolling when I sob uncontrollably (which is a lot).

They have also been known to jump up and leave the room when I scream:

HOLY - - - - !

Just as I did a moment ago at the end of Ep 4 of IRIS. Oh my God. This show is too intense, I'm a nervous wreck. I had already bitten my nails down to little nubs...I KNEW I should have started drinking earlier today. ;-)

I still don't get internet access at work (don't have access to the new router yet), and missing all the fun discussions on OT Fridays has got me seriously thinking of upgrading to a smart phone. That would definitely bring this tech-challenged ajumma into the modern age (my first laptop was purchased only a year ago, and my current cell phone is a relic). Or better yet, I should just take Fridays off. Hey, if hubby can take the day off just to go up to Napa to get his Judgement of Paris (about the historic 1976 tasting where Chateau Montelena beat the French chardonnays in a blind tasting) book signed and shopping at the outlets (I swear, he shops more than I do)...then, why can't I?

While I was internet-deprived, I couldn't get OT off the brain...so I thought of some more names to add to JB's menagerie, should she ever head down the road of the crazy lady with the 50 cats....or Maeby decides to watch Iris with JB and POOF! -> spontaneous, immaculate twin conception a la belleza...
(That's right - LBH's superpowers extend to feline purrsuasion as well. :P)

글쎄 (Geulsse - Well... / let me see...) and 설마 (Seolma - Surely not!)
Add Maeby and Surely, and that makes -> 4 down, and 46 to go! :P
Yeah...it's been one of those days... ;)

@ Samsooki

1) I will never cede all rights, even momentarily, to KJH to you. :-P
2) I take full chae-gim (책임) in that I admit that I WARNED YOU TO GET YOUR TISSUES READY for Ep.24 of HGD.

@ langdon813
"I don’t have much to contribute today other than “Damn, didn’t Shin-woo look FINE in those pants” but I’m enjoying every word."

I'm enjoying You're Beautiful immensely, but it still hasn't reached The Crack proportions for me. I don't know why. The Hong sisters are certainly delivering, JGS fits TK to a tee, PSH is great as the innocent and loveable GMN, and Jeremy is a hoot.
But Shin Woo....oh, Shin Woo...

Even though I concur wholeheartedly with the TK/MN OTP, I'm still suffering from Second Lead Crush Syndrome. It's not that I expect him to have any chance with MN (he's missed the boat)...or find the actor more talented than JGS (he's certainly not). Maybe, it's my imbalanced membership in the Inappropriate Crushes on Much Younger Men Club? If I were to be stuck in an elevator with TK, the most inappropriate thing I would be compelled to do is pinch his adorable cheeks. But with SW, I wouldn't be able to stop coming up with new and inventive inappropriate behaviors. Hehe...

And he certainly does have a scrumptious bottom - Enjoy!

Let us hope that they can keep it up, I tip my hat to such a great contribution for us who have grown up with this genre of TV viewing Gracias.........

@reluctantbutaddicted

Really? I was thinking that Kim Jae Won would be a good addition.

Okay, here's the thing. I don't really like Kim Jae Won that much from a personal standpoint (he was a bit... not really someone I could be friends with in My Love Patzzi). BUT, I think he is a talented actor - on the basis of that, and the fact that a lot of folks seem to like him, that I put him in that role.

I guess I could substitute Ji Sung, since he's already played a doctor before (New Heart), or my KJH, who played a bit role as a doctor (Save The Last Dance For Me)...

I've been meaning to get a new phone for years. My black & white, camera-free, pre-internet days Motorola has served me well...no frills, simple to use...but brings me comments like, "Your phone's really, really old" and "You don't know how to text?!" from my 12 year-old nephew. ha.

Another observation on the JGS/JYH comparison in the ICOMYM Club:
JGS really does make a cute girl (SNSD parody). If I were a lesbian, I'd be in Inappropriate Crush heaven. ;)
On the other hand, JYH pulls off SMEXY (rather than greasy fairy) in guyliner. 'Nuff said.

Oh....to be THE pink plastic spoon... :D

It can sometimes take me HOURS to watch a single episode if I either really like a drama or if it gets too intense. I think Ep 4 of IRIS took me about 3.5 hours total. No lie.

Guys, IRIS is going to be one huge spoiler trap from here on out. I won't ever say anything specific because I know lot of our OT family is waiting until it's over to start watching. Just saying...y'all might want to rethink this and start watching now, because the OMGWTH moments are gonna be fast and furious from this point on.

I don't know how you guys manage to watch so many k-dramas and post on this thread. I had to get sick with the flu to watch one kdrama. Being sick is the perfect excuse to ignore work, family and even basic necessities like showering and eating so you can watch some kdrama.

I chose to watch Your Beautiful this week since I thought IRIS might be too intense for my flu fried brain. Your Beautiful looked good for some mindless fun and the Hong sister's never disappoint for laughs. I'm glad to say that despite the story subject matter which I had no interest in, I am enjoying it immensely for the writing, story pace and unpredictable plot devices but more importantly surprised by some of the great acting. Jang Geun Seuk in particular really owns his character. In the first 3 episodes he pretty much plays a male bitch. I just love how JGS added little nuances to his character. The scene where he dismisses the Fake Fairy from his van with his hand wave has to be one of the most hysterical scenes I've seen this year. Also totally loving JB's recaps since I've already watched up to episode 6. Crap this is why I usually wait until the show is near its end so I can marathon through.

Buffy and Veronica discussions. Brings back some great memories. When Buffy was on TV, my 4-5 buffy watching friends would call each other after each episode to discuss and break the relationships down. What geekdom. How I miss those days.

"Hey, if hubby can take the day off just to go up to Napa to get his Judgement of Paris (about the historic 1976 tasting where Chateau Montelena beat the French chardonnays in a blind tasting) book signed..."

Hysterical you should bring this up. I remember being in Chateau Montelena for a picnic lunch on a particularly deserted day and someone who worked there was talking to us about places to eat and vineyards to try etc and he told us the same bit of information. Though it was years ago I can't seem to expunge that info from my brain though I've forgotten my 4th grade best friend's name. Anyway my bf and I must have bought a case of their chardonnay and I don't even really like chardonnays. Its a great marketing tool.

Happy OT everyone:
I'm sooo glad it's friday. Had one of the worst day @ work, actually more emotional toll from ALL of the patients. They either told me they just lost their house or jobs or BOTH, someone in their family has cancer, and they no longer have insurance, and the worst one was the one that woke up with her hubby passed on during the nite(he had a heart attack). They were 1 week shy of their 20th anniversary...I felt so helpless. All I could do was gave them some kind words and a warm squeeze in their hands( didn't want to have"inappropriate" body contact-we are in litious California), and a big hug to one of them since I knew them for years.***sigh

@JB
I just wanted to say that your cat is very cute. Unfortunately, I'm one those who cannot even be in the same room with a cat. I'm the asian "Mrs Monk". The last time I sat next to one(actually, I didn't know he was there), my eyes swelled up to a slit. For my work, it's not good, and my staff would never let me be(cracking up, probably) if my eyes look like that ><

@langdon813 and other LBH lovers
I saw this @work's MBC digital/ Arirang- The report about the Original F4
LBH
Jang Dong Gun
Jung Woo Sung and
Bae Yong Joon....it seems like LBH is still the fan's fav

@Samsooki
I always know I like you for a reason- you LOVE Gong Yoo as much as I do. FYI his discharge date for his MS is 12/08/09...and if I didn't have Mr.Cingdoc, and the 2 lil Cingdoc, I would have jump on a plane and welcome my Yoo home =)

Oh, it's easy. Just forgo sleep, food, work, family, friends, you know. Stuff like that.

Just kidding. Here's what it's really like (for me), if anyone wonders why it seems like I never leave this site. The truth is I don't sleep much, I never have. I usually go to bed at 2 or 2:30 and get up at 8. I work at home, so my commute is like 5 feet from my bed to my office. I basically only have about 4 or 5 tasks I have to complete each week, and other than that I just wait for the phone to ring. I am VERY lucky...I have a really easy job but it requires me to sit at my desk all day whether I'm busy or not. This gives me a lot of time to watch dramas and hang out at here at DB.

I also don't watch regular TV anymore. Ever. Not anything. I will when Lost and Friday Night Lights come back on in January, but right now? Nothing. I am recording Mad Men every week but so far I haven't watched a single episode of the new season.

I fear K-dramas have ruined me for anything else. And that doesn't bother me one little bit.

@184, cingdoc

Oh noes! What were you you ranting about? OOPS, never mind, your post just showed up! Sorry about your bad day, my friend! Hope you have a great weekend to make up for it.

Yeah, that tasting is [in]famous. There's also a movie, Bottle Shock, that was made last year with Alan Rickman (love him!). It was interesting to watch what was based on the true story and what was Hollywood embellishment.

Chateau Montelena's chardonnay is okay (I still prefer white Burgundy), but their Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is consistently good (and half the price when bought on futures).

Just finished Dal Ja's Spring...wow, what an ending. That was a really smart way to end it. Brilliant, and consistent with the theme of the show.

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

Things I loved about DJS:

1) I loved the character developments in the main leads - DJ, TB, SJ and SD. We see how they negotiated their emotional and professional hurdles, and learnt from each setback and question mark. We see a very clear cause and effect of each decision they make and how it leads to progression in their relationships and professional careers.

2) I really loved SJ's character and her relationship with SD. They showed the give and take in relationships (for example, he wanted to get married, she didn't but gave in eventually).

3) I loved that TB was a straight forward dude who never hid his feelings, and always spoke his mind and was honest to a fault with everyone. Yes, not everyone needs to be the "I love you but for your sake I won't tell you how I feel". He is the real modern man here. (so is SD!!! Wait, so is DJ! and SJ!)

4) I loved the scene in the last ep when she was in the restaurant and got the card from him that simply read "if it's fate....maybe?". The next minute was difficult to swallow as I really thought he was going to show up and he doesn't...which really added to the sentiment of the scene. That has got to be the most meaningful scene in the entire show for me.

5) Although that is rivaled by SJ proposing to SD. I almost cried.

There are so many more but I don't want my post too long (darn, too late already and I haven't even started on the dislikes yet!)

Things I didn't like about DJS:

1) This is superficial but....I couldn't help but get really distracted by Lee Min-Ki's bloodshot eyes though he recovered a lot in the later episodes. Was he just seriously sleep deprived or did he have some sort of eye trouble? It bothered me and really distracted from a lot of scenes.

2) With all the realistic and mature situations that happened in the show, I can't help but wonder about the evil ex-wife's antics. I felt that was over-the-top roll-my-eyes crazy and didn't really fit in with the tone of the show.

3) The 2 sets of parents (and grandparent). Are there any kdramas out there that doesn't have the Parental Interference Plot? I don't mean to offend anyone but is that truly the state of things in today's korean society? Could someone please enlighten me please! Is that a common occurrence? Or is it seem more amplified as a kdrama plot device?

All in all this was a great show. The writing is top notch. Kudos to the writers for being able to so naturally and effortlessly bring to life the many different aspects to relationships not found in many dramas. It was at turns thought provoking, heartwarming, heart wrenching, sweet, hopeful. The ending was perfect because you really get the sense that the 2 really know what they want in life now, and what they want is each other. You get the sense that they are now both willing and ready to settle down, and what happens next, whatever it is, they will deal with it together. Thank you, Dal Ja's Spring!

Happy OT everybody!

O get well soon nycgrl. At least u can catch up on dramas! tc

awwww JB, Maeby is adorable (btw that AD 'analrapist' is still my hubby's all time fav EVER, I told him about Maeby, and he started cracking up and redoing that line for the last hour). She has a thinking cat vibe to her. Too bad I've developed a severe cat allergy last couple years.... I offered to cat sit my friend's 2 cats, but a min into his place cost me an ER visit. eyes swollen shut, diff breathing didnt even have time to replenish the food and water. In college though, my neighbor's cat will consistently sneak into our house whenever he got the chance. I dunno what's wrong with him, he puked a lot (on clean laundry) in his real home, but he's a dearie at our place (he'll head home to use the litter box..and come back). He loved to give us back massages whenever we're lying back up on the couch and he would 'purrrrrr' all the while....and he liked to sleep on our carpet belly up with his legs all stretched out and we'll give him belly rubs...and the big grin on his face...awwwwwwww I miss him.

Yeah, how do we watch sooo many dramas?! it'll be interesting if we all delve up. ;)

have to admit I'm a very casual drama watcher, it all started when I was in a long distance relation, we were on msn all nite, and so I kept the dramas playing as backgd noise. Now it's become a habit... whenever my laptop is on, some drama is playing (not that I'm always paying attention ;) )

O for all those interested in Black and White in SF bay area, it's on KTSF 8pm, my mom told me it's just aired first ep tonite, hubby checked out the actresses and he likes Janine Chang. I rem her fr Kenting ( liked that drama). Perfect timing for us to catch up.

And it's Pumpkin day coming up! I rem my first horror flick was those segments (not unlike Hometown legend) on the VERY old EYT segments (that TVB nightly variety show) I was 6?, really dunno y my parents let me and my younger bro watched that, but we're branded for life. I STILL rem one vividly ,. the one on majong (where it's bad luck for all 4 players to throw out the 'west' tile in the same round....coz it rhymes with 'all 4 going to the west (ie the other world/die...)) eekkkk

i hate downtown LA when they're filming a movie or tv show. as if traffic weren't bad enough, roads were closed off, lanes had to be merged, and there was practically ZERO street parking, which, on a friday night, SUCKS. ended up paying freakin $28 to park in a structure for a lil over 3 hours. LA peeps, don't park at the stupid macy's parking structure on flower. they'll jack you. actually y'all probably already knew that huh. little did i know there was a parking structure CLOSER to the restaurant i was going to...for $5 flat rate. sighs.

i'm gonna go watch some big bang videos to cheer me up.. TOP will soothe me haha.

I just spent 2 nights in a city with wonderful seafood restaurants, too sick to eat anything at all. But that gave me a chance to finish Triple and now I really want to read the JavaBeans recap, because .......what happened there??? Were the last 3 or 4 minutes supposed to be reality? or was it just a skating representation of Haru's life at that point? I watched it twice, and am still confused.

"Oh, it’s easy. Just forgo sleep, food, work, family, friends, you know. Stuff like that."

Ok that explains it and oh how I envy you. I actually work mostly from home as well but I need to also go into the "office" a few times a week and even at home I often work 10-12 hr a day but I'm still not sure how everyone else does it.

I'm gonna check out the movie since I also love Alan Rickman, Alan Rickman used to have this show with Nina Griscom when FoodTV was actually watchable and I just loved him. I have a friend who is a master sommolier and he hates californian type of wines because they are too fruit forward but I like them. If you are a wine geek Behrens and Hitchcock is fantastic for reds. I try to buy as much as possible when I can get my hands on it since they are not a big producer.

mookie
Thanks so much mookie and I have to say I might have passed on Your Beautiful if I wasn't sick which would have been a shame since I only watch 4-5 kdramas a year. Anymore and my work and life starts going to the tubes.

I can totally sympathize I live in an area of NYC that does tons of filming and it gets quite annoying after a while with the blocked streets, no parking etc. I do get to see a lot of stars filming but it gets so old I just walk by. I also did see when they filmed lobbyist here but I had no idea what show it was except I knew the crew was korean.

@192 belleza

See, that's what I love about Jang Nara.

JNR: Ya!

(beckons JGS over with a pretty smile and a cute wave)

JNR: Ya! You're a first-year, right? I'm your third-year noona okay? So get over here and give up your back. Quickly!

***

I have a feeling that that's pretty much JNR's real-life personality anyway, and how cute is that? Who wouldn't agree to be a stepping stool for tardy Jang Nara? Mischievious, a bit lazy, yet creative and extroverted, bold and friendly... if I had a noona like that, how cool would my life have been back then? Reminds me of a less tortured, less angsty version of the OG of sassy girls, Jeon Ji Hyun.

Hello from London!

I'm at Apple store charging my iphone and have thought of watching the rest of Iris ep4... Then, figured I must be nuts to even come with such an idea, having come all the way out here to London from So. Cal... So, I'm going to check Timeout London for a play or something...

JB, Your cat is soooo cute and cuddly. My son and I both have cat allergy and that's too bad. He even had a cat while living in Bay area disregarding his allergy battling teary eyes and everything else. He's a cat sort of guy, I'd say...

Anyway, I'm so enjoying reading all the comments here. Trust everybody is having happy weekends

My last OT before my vaca to LA (yes!). I just hope my girlfriends and I don't spend too much time lingering in Ktown and forget to sight-see LA. So, I'm going rant since I won't be able to do so for 2 weeks - bear with me folks.

B&W: I won't say this is my #1 drama of 2009 since I've yet to start IRIS, but it is my #1 TW drama for 2009 (Momo Love and SS is unlikely to surpass B&W). Whoever has not joined the bandwagon, should at least check out the 1st ep of this drama. The only caveat is: If this is your 1st TW drama, it's going to spoil you for other TW dramas.

As for the lack of story on romance: I love it. Too many Tdramas solely focus on lovelines that it's become unoriginal. The fact that B&W focuses so much on bromance is wonderful - Mark & Vic seem to carry that offscreen too. I wouldn't be surprised if Mark loves Vic the most in the end. LOLs.

MoMo Love: Biggest draw = Director Tsai - who jammed out some of my favorite Tdramas of all time, The Rose, It Started With A Kiss 1 & 2, etc. Biggest sore point = Cyndi Wang. I have absolutely nothing against the actress/singer, but after watching repeated "cutesy" roles, I've grown tired of the lack of diversity, and other than her early, guest-star stint as an innocent "seductress," she's never wow-ed me with her acting.

Hi, My Sweetheart: It took me about 4 years to become a Rainie fan, though I did follow her after her MG's Yuuki role. And it wasn't her acting/singing that cinched the deal, it was her off-screen personality. So I'll be staying tuned to this drama. Plus, it'll be interesting to see Show and Rainie's chemistry onscreen....and Alien's responses to their "intimacy" - LOLS.

You're Beautiful: I don't know abt everyone else, but the BTS scene of JGS/PSH filming the 2 black and white seduction scenes has won me over. Like someone commented, they were SO FLIRTING with each other, and has made the drama context more interesting. Figures it takes their off-screen interactions to get my complete devotion. Officially boarded the TK-MN ship.

Smile, You: *sigh* There are so many things wrong with this drama, but I'm completely hooked with LMJ & JKH. Blame it on their amazing chemistry, or their interesting exchanges, but Soo-In is my current fav couple (TK-MN is catching up as a very dangerous 2nd). I wish I didn't have to skip so much of the drama just to see pertinent info on this couple, but alas what can I do when I'm simultaneous whoring myself to other dramas out there.

QSD: Alright, who here has renewed fervor in this drama now that Mishil is back? Should've waited until it ended before picking it up again. Oh, I have no restraint whatsoever.

Reading all the comments of Black and Wite got me excited again over it. Do I miss that drama!!! Saw it at viikii but the video quality is not good. I usually see a few Taiwanese dramas during the year, but so far this is the only one I've seen.

I've been spending more time watching SS501 videos on youtube (they been in so many reality and variety shows that that will keep me busy for weeks) so I have been lagging on my drama watching.

I am waiting for YB and Iris to be over so that I can run watching marathons. It kills me to have to wait for a whole week to see new episodes of a drama. I have a shelf full of unopened boxsets from YA that I haven't fun the time to watch.

I've never been a cat person (I suffer from allergies) but my son rescued a couple of abandoned kittens (male and female) whom he nursed back to health. The family has now grown to four beautiful all white, short haired cats and I love them all.

HAve a wonderful week and weekend everyone!!!!
