Uhm Tae-woong and Jung Ryeo-won’s Neverending Story

Here’s a look at the quirky new gallows-humor romantic comedy Neverending Story, starring Uhm Tae-woong and Jung Ryeo-won as two people who meet on the day they each get diagnosed with a terminal illness. How’s that for a meet-cute? With six months left to live, they decide, eh why not, and start to date… as they prepare to die. Their dates consist of shopping for coffins and burial clothes, and other hilariously dark non-datey activities, but their romance is every bit the traditional bickering cuteness.
Uhm Tae-woong plays a happy-go-lucky unemployed loser who can’t live without the lotto, and Jung Ryeo-won an uptight, exacting bank employee who can’t live without her diary. What cracks me up is that in the trailer, Uhm Tae-woong seems the closest to his real persona that I’ve ever seen (not counting 1 Night 2 Days, of course). And in fact, it seems so out of his normal wheelhouse that it seems like a part borne out of his 1N2D persona. His character is kind of a doofus, and really inexperienced at love, to the point that Jung Ryeo-won has to coach him on how to seduce her. Him: “Do you… not have to go h-home?” Her: “You have to MAKE me not want to go home! Cry and beg, or jump into the ocean or something!” Ha.
The trailer starts out all melodramatic as they find out they’re going to die, and then immediately undercuts the drama with offbeat charm and flirty banter. (And yes, that’s a cameo by Cha Tae-hyun as a quack palm reader.) Uhm Tae-woong squeeing over being called “oppa” is pretty much the cutest thing ever. The poster’s kind of awesome too — who ever thought two people climbing into a coffin together could be so hot?
I love it when a story takes common melodrama fodder and then tells it as a comedy, and even better is the idea to take two drama-heavy actors and make them light and funny. Morbid AND hilarious? Why, oh why can’t this be a sixteen-episode drama?
Neverending Story hits theaters January 19.

I am so glad Jung Ryeo Won is active in drama/movie land again, she's looking mighty cute and adorable in this new one <3 looks like plenty of chemistry!
missed how underrated her drama with kim rae won was, she was so adorable in that! hopefully she can continue that charm in this movie!

I also wish that this could be a 16 episode drama too. Even the trailer just makes you want it to last longer already than just a less than 2 hour movie. Uhm Tae Woong so cute. Love him to bits.

For surely I don't like the way he looks many times. He doesn't have the star presence, de doesn't have the looks either, not even the self confidence. Still...he captured me. Especially with his performance in Blue Sky I've confidence of his acting. He HAS inner strenght, even he himself says he doesn't have it, I just enjoy watching him act. In anything.
Should I dare say this?...I'm addicted to Uhm Tae-woong.

One can only hope that 'Dog Feet' will pay attention to the love pointers in this movie and apply them to his real life. Boy seriously needs to gt married.
The stills are cute, but that first one of the two of them in the coffin spells necrophilia, kinda. Or, maybe I just don't find coffins all that funny..

He was great in Cyrano (omg, that "fighting" scene with Daniel Choi!) can't wait to see Neverending story. I think he really enjoys comedies too.

God i hate Koreans!!!! How can they create something so sad...the first 20 second i almost started to cry..and by the end of the video i was kind of weeping!!! This look cute and depressing at the same time...It's in this situations when you want a magician to solve things or a time machine to get back to when it was all happy...

I am so watching this! It's nice to see Uhm Tae Woong doing some comic stuff, even if I love him as a dramatic actor.
Next, he and Lee Seon Kyun need to do a movie together. A bickering bromance maybe?

3 films in a year? Wow, I hope he makes zillions of wons, he's wort every drippy drooly drop. Uhm Taewoong and Jung Ryeo-won both are good lookin', plus Taewoong has that sexy, smokey voice...drives me crazy

but um, oh wow, that is probably one of the most interesting, attention-grabbing teasers i've seen. jung ryeowon and uhm taewoong are just so adorable together!
oh my gosh~ with the addition of cha taehyun! this movie is going to be freaking hilarious!

Have not watch it yet but believing it will be awesome. Want it to be hit movie for 2012. Ryu Won is forever gorgeous and Tae Woong Uhm is good looking too.
