Lee Seung-gi in talks to headline Kill Me, Heal Me

What’s better than Puppy in a drama? Why seven Puppies, of course. At least that’s what this show is banking on, anyway. MBC’s new split-personality drama Kill Me, Heal Me is reportedly in final contract negotiations with Lee Seung-gi (You’re All Surrounded) to headline the series as its leading man with seven different personalities. I’m a little torn about this news, since the drama’s premise is frankly worrisome, but then you go and cast Park Seo-joon (Witch’s Romance) as the second lead, and then Seung-gi as your hero, and now I’m seeing rainbows and hoping against hope that the drama is good. *shakes fist*

The new drama from writer Jin Soo-wan of The Moon That Embraces the Sun and PD Kim Jin-man of Scandal is about a third-generation chaebol with dissociative identity disorder, who has seven personas. It’s pretty old hat by now for Seung-gi to be playing a spoiled rich boy, but seven totally different personalities — I can’t argue that it’s not new ground for him as an actor, even if it sounds nuts.

The heroine (yet to be cast) will be a first-year resident physician who becomes his secret family doctor, and the romantic comedy (with a side of mystery and melodrama) will be about their “healing romance.” Why is “healing romance” now the dramaland shorthand for heroes with psychological issues who date their doctors, and when can it stop?

Meanwhile Park Seo-joon has been cast as a quirky mystery novelist whose genius/stupidity is ambiguous to most, and seeing as how he doesn’t have six other personalities hiding in his brain, I’d say he gives the hero a run for his money in the love triangle. This is the drama that once reportedly courted Hyun Bin, who then signed on to star in SBS’s Jekyll and Me instead. Now it looks like we’ll be seeing both split-personality chaebol heroes in competing timeslots for a head-to-head battle. Binnie vs. Seung-gi: Nine personalities enter, one man leaves.

Kill Me, Heal Me follows Mr. Back on Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning in January.

Though, I can't agree more, since puppy can pull off an extraordinary performance (just hope the writing is good) and I know those disregarding his acting skills will eat their tongue once they see him perform but ... but ...
I wanted an album *sigh* his movie can heal my longing for actor Seung Gi, besides a month and a half away from its premiere, I'm smelling live shoots and accidents (his eye accident last year was enough)

That's so true. Jo In -Sung would kill it. Or maybe if Song Joong Ki was back from the army. Yoo Ah-In is impressing me these days too.

I don't know. I really like LSG, especially in 1N2D, but for acting I'm still waiting for THAT performance where he kills it. He's just an okay-actor for now, where he doesn't bug me on TV, but hasn't impressed me all the way.

I agree. Song Joong Ki would nail it. I'm not sure seung gi has enough depth.

Lee jong suk is in his 20's would pull it off he has a lot of range, if you watch dr stranger and hot blooded youth you'll see that he can switch emotional modes and characters seamlessly. I think Joo Won would pull it off too, it's amazing how his real life personality (as seen in 1n2d) and his acting persona are complete opposites, it shows how much acting skills he has. He was able to act in both Bridal mask and Good Doctor and be believable in both when the characters have nothing in common.

I don't think that acting is all about age and experience I think if an actor has true talent and can empathize with their characters well, there is no limits to what role they can portray no matter how old they are.

I like Lee Seung Gi but I winced at the news I am not sure he has the acting skills to do this role but who knows I might be surprised, I will check out the drama and see.

I'm a Seung Gi fan, and I agree with almost everything you said, since he never tried a double persona character, but Joo Won is Joo Won. He only doesn't have the flower look that will make girls go gaga over him. He's great, and he proved it with the double persona in Gaksital.

People judging LSG may only have seen his first works (that for a singer -not idol- turned actor received some praises for not being mediocre like many acting-dolls that screw every project)

0

Erm, yeah Joowon can pull it off. Have you seen how different he can be in gaksital vs. good doctor?

Love both Joowon and Seunggi but if it's the acting chops I'll give it to Joowon. Seunggi has improved a lot though. He was great with all the emotional scenes in YAAS.

They're both my cutie pie maknae in 2 days 1 night *pinch cheeks* But Seunggi is way better in variety compared to Joowon.

I'm glad he's doing a drama - YAAS is the most meh drama he's done. I don't even recall what it was about now. But this? It looks like a train wreck in the making. The writer-PD combo isn't inspiring and so isn't MoonSun as credit for previous work.

Binnie vs Lee Seung Gi showdown:
From acting abilty and experience, Binnie wins hands down.
From leading lady, Binnie has Han Ji Min which I find meh. So if this KMHM can cast someone I like (MGY, MCW, SMA) then I'll root for it.
From second lead, Park Seo Joon is a puppy, I'd expect second lead syndrome in this one while Binnie's drama has yet to cast second lead, so I don't know who I'll rooting for.
From PD and writer, actually Binnie is a bit better. KMHM's writer from TMETS. The drama was barely saved by KSH and huge popularity. While Jekyll and I writer is from CDDA and I quite like the drama.

Conclusion: I have nothing against LSG, but from acting and writing alone I'll root for Binnie. Let the battle begins!

You can't just make a hot new drama on a serious mental illness without considering the harsh reality victims face because of this disorder. It's Okay, That's Love happens to be an exception since it did a wonderful job on portraying mentally ill patients with respect and honesty, despite some hiccups. I am starting to really worry if all these new dramas in the making will do the same for dissociative identity disorder, or even try to portray other mental illnesses like depression and anxiety disorders. (Those last two have been on the rise lately.) Come on guys, don't do it for the fad, do it for advocacy against the stigma!

A lot of the 86ers haven't left yet. Jaejoong, Kim Hyunjoong, Siwon, Yunho, etc. Their deadline-ish is next year, so Seunggi still has until 2016 to enlist if he's gonna push the deadline.

Hell, Choi Jinhyuk hasn't enlisted yet and he's an 85er who HAS to enlist this year.

Seung-Gi is an early '87er; how are '86ers "much older"? Isn't it fair to say Seung-Gi has to go soon? Why is that statement taken so offensively?

0

@Fidelity

They are a whole year beyond older. I don't know why much offends you so freaking much. Worry about your own business anyway.

0

Honestly, you sound more 'pissy' to me than anyone else. Seung-gi - and all 87ers - have a whole year at the very least before they are required to enlist. Lets talk about the 86ers first - like all those listed above and add Yoochun, Yoo Ah-in. When they all leave, maybe its time to point the sword on Seung-gi's throat.

ji asked, "i’m not hating or anything but, shouldn’t he go to the army by now?". Lemondoodle replied, "There people much older than him who haven’t gone, so why don’t you ask them instead."

Does ji's question qualifies as 'pointing the sword' at Seung-gi's throat'? Seung-Gi is one of the actors who seem to be pushing his military enlistment as far back as possible, so why CAN'T people discuss his impending enlistment in a thread about him? Do we have to mention all the actors who have yet to gone in order to talk about Seung-Gi's enlistment, in his very own thread?

0

It seems not only K-net but also I-net want him to enlist soon. I understand k-net, since he's the star with many national titles and a role model, but I-net mentionning his MS is because it's the only thing they can attack him with.

*sigh* I wish he goes and finish with it soon. I don't want him to take this drama because the plot seems meh, writer is meh and the storyline is the same as "it's okay it's love" but whatever his choice, I'll support him. (also, waiting (im)patiently for his album <3 <3

0

True he has ahjumma fans, but hell don't call me ahjumma. I'm an ardent fan and younger than him, and I know a lot who are young. He just has the ahjumma love around the country from 1 night 2 days which is welcomed.

Ji just asking and i saw nothing wrong with Lemondoodle's reply . And there's you Fidelity who overreact about "Much older". Chill. As what you said "Seung-Gi is one of the actors who seem to be pushing his military enlistment as far back as possible", so why CAN’T people discuss his impending enlistment and linking it to other actors who did the same? And there's no such a rule saying not to mention all the actors who have yet to gone in order to talk about Seunggi’s enlistment. knetz and even Inetz aggressively talking about his enlistment proving how much he was well loved so people doesn't want him to screw up. Anyway he will enlist for sure, sooner or later.

and fans are "pissy" about his MS because of double standards. Nobody calls out other 87ers or 86ers to constantly go to the army. There's nothing else to attack him with so that's why they attack him with that.. lol

0

People have a choice on what they care about so people can choose to care whether Seungi-Gi fulfills his lawful obligation or not. You are also choosing to care (rather fervently) about people asking when he's going to the army; here's the question back at you - "why do you care"?

It's funny how quick Seung-jummas are to point fingers at other actors, even when the thread is about him. Does him pushing his military enrollment date as far back as possible look better if others are doing it too? Sure, sure, let's pretend that.

0

I don't get the argument about his MS: he will go when he's ready to go anyway. @Fidelity, I'm sorry buddy, but it seems that you have a specific issue with either Lee Seung-gi or his fans or both. Not all his fans are ahjummas. And I tend to agree with the other comments; some 86-ers haven't gone to the army yet and although he is an early 87-er, he is still an 87-er. Well, we expect him to go next year at the least and it's not like going to army is like going on holiday. You need to let go 2 years' worth of your career so delicate planning is required especially for celebrities (CFs, movies, dramas, contracts, etc). Going to army for celebrities is not as easy as just shaving your head and serving the country, they have to plan for their future as well especially when a celebrity's career hinges on popularity and demand. Going off grid for 2 years is a huge deal when there is a possibility of being jobless after coming out of the army.

0

Well he can decide when he would enlist to the MS. He decided what's best for his career, as yoo seung ho decided to going eatlier. Do you really think YSH going earlier because he wanted to protect korea? The point is you still could serve the nation. That's the point there is age range for it.

Lee Seung-gi will be the exact same age (28 in January) that Leonardo DiCaprio was when DiCaprio did Catch Me If You Can. I had doubts that DiCaprio could act the part of an airline pilot (and other professions) and be believable. But somehow he managed it! Even at 28.

I think Lee Seung-gi also manages to do well in every role he does. I'm surprised that there are so many "haters" here, or at the very least, people not overly enthusiastic about him.

We should have faith in the actors, but not the writers. They do manage to muck up a lot of their scripts, don't they? This broadcast-while-filming/writing thing should really end. It does no one any favors, especially the writers. How many series have we seen that started out promising, only to disappoint us severely in the end. If the writing/filming was done BEFORE a series was broadcast, that wouldn't happen (or not nearly as much).

Puppy you are cute you are adorable but I just don't want you doing this. I want him to get enough rest for his next concert and album. I heard he already declined once. Seems the producer really want to cast him l.

And now his album was cancelled this winter for him to focused more on movie/drama. If he happens to take this role,it I will watch it for sure because he is lee seunggi. But im genuinely hoping him to decline this drama once again

It sounds like a done deal from what I have heard. Since finding out that both the writers and the investors have been trying to get him signed on since January even after him declining it once, and for the news to be leaked and even admitted to by Hook its a done deal I would say.

I wanted Yoon Kyesang but I know it's not possible. Anyway, might as well. I can just concentrate on Hyun Bin's drama.

7 personalities? Eric Mun will be the best choice. And I don't think he needs to act at all since he's originally dorky and 4D in real life yet so charming, sexy XD. I saw his comedy drama which was seriously hillarious, Super Rookie, as a bastard in Que Sera Sera and egomaniac turns to melo guy in Discovery of Love.

So conflicted! I just can't picture Seunggi playing crazy, let alone crazy with 7 personalities. Like a lot of other people, I'm concerned whether he has the chops to handle it or not. However, I'm also rooting for him to use this to change his image and make another acting breakthrough like he did in K2H. I really hope it turns out to be a good drama at least, because this could so be a disaster purely based on the script, and then I couldn't stand to watch Puppy struggle through it :(

This could be real funny if done right. I am a little apprehensive about the number of personalities though. Maybe 4 or 5 would have been more manageable if they really want to put time in for each personality. Is there a way for Yoon Eun Hye to costar in this?

This could be a huge success or a complete train wreck for LSG. He's a good actor but I'm not sure how he'll play the seven personalities. The drama should have a good writer to be able to pull it off. If the writer is bad, the actor can only do so much.

Hmm, I hope the storyline is a compelling and heartwarming one despite the wacky-sounding premise of a man with seven personalities. Since it's from the writer of Moon Embraces the Sun I wonder if she can transfer the sageuk magic to the modern context in this drama. And yes some female leads that would be nice are Park Se Young, Lee Bo Young or Song Ji Hyo (RM Fan heh) :D

I like LSG but.... but... I'm not too sure about the plot, I mean, it soulds like the latest Gong Hyo Jin drama, no matter which angle you look at it... So far, LSG had a string of success, I don't want to see him dragged down by this :/

Even if this drama’s going to hell, they already had me at Park Seo-joon (and his super cute character description) alone. But now they add Lee Seung-gi in to the mix and it’s like “are we in heaven or what?”

That said, the premise can still be a hit or miss, but just give me one adorable alternate personality, Show, and I’m sold.

I sort of agree with above comments. I love Lee Seung-gi and he's adorable <3 but there's not many young actors in dramaland now for whom I'd be confident in their abilities to play seven split personalities, and with pathos and sensitivity for a severe psychological disorder to boot. The premise is bizarre albeit interesting, but the writers and producers may have bitten off more than they can chew.

7 personalities makes me think of Orphan Black. I love LSG but I'm not sure if he can pull it off. The role should have been given to a more experienced actor. Oh well if he ends up taking it, best of luck to him!

YES!
I will totally watch the show if LSG is in it.
Was quite disappointed with YAAS cos the storyline grew boring after a while.
But this drama looks promising.
Cant wait to see puppy pull off this role.

Though I am skeptical about having LSG play 7 different personalities, I would love to see him prove those who criticize him wrong. Let's just let him surprise us. Anyhow, I watch him in anything and I enjoy them all. TK2H and MGIAG remains my favorites.

I think YooChun can do the 7 personalities. He already did 4 in rooftop prince. SPOILER: The prince, the doppelganger, the prince pretending to be the doppelganger with amnesia, and finally the prince pretending to be be the real doppelganger.

it's not different personality, it's just same person with different occupation or different clothes. The writer should be detail to make 7 personality, i'm not sure about the actor n the writer, writing 2 personality it's already hard then 7 personality? i guess the synopsis is overate

That is not personality disorder, any actor and actress can do that..lol..

Not quite. YooChun didn't really play 7 personalities. It's more like 2 personalities that intertwines instead of 4 completely separate and distinct personalities.

Takeru Sato could pull it off. In Kamen Rider Den-O he played about 6 or 7 different personalities because 6 or 7 monsters possess him (5 of them on a regular basis). These monsters had different personalities from playboy, to an overgrown kid, to royal blood, etc. And you could literally see the shift in his personality everytime the monsters possess him. However, he's Japanese, not Korean, so unless they can make a deal between Japan and Korea, he's out. I'm not sure which of the K-actors are versatile enough to pull it off since I don't often see them playing characters with split personality.

Who knows? 7 personas in the scripts may be actually 2 or 3 in the real drama. That happened in the past when some scripts gave impressive descriptions of the characters but the audience didn't see it in the drama.

Anyway, LSG doesn't give the typical chaebol look or aura. Wondering how they dress him up.
