Drama viewership ratings for the week of Apr. 4–Apr. 10, 2016

The Monday-Tuesday shows have only just begun their runs, but already we’re seeing changes to the order that came out the first week. Next week will be pretty interesting to see when it comes to that lineup, if only to know whether the trends established this week will continue. But with ratings, sometimes you just never know.

Jackpot started out as the ratings darling, but saw a two percent drop from its odd episode to its even episode. That’s not insignificant, especially when you factor in Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho’s rise to the top. It hasn’t been a meteoric shift—Lawyer started out with good numbers, but maybe its more human story is resonating more with audiences than Jackpot’s more fantastical aspects.

On the other hand, Descended From the Sun seems to be holding steady at around 33.0%, though I wouldn’t be surprised if next week’s final episodes see a jump. It feels like it just started for it to be ending so soon—whirlwind shows like it don’t come around all that often, so I am going to miss talking about it, even if only from a ratings perspective.

Lee Seo Jin is such an amazing actor. He totally blows me away.

That last scene at the end of epi 11...his emotions felt sooo real that I felt like a "voyeur"... An intruder in their intimate moments.

Ya know, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read an interview a few years ago with Lee Seo-jin and in it he said he had a hard time letting himself go in emotional scenes.

Uh, yeah he had no trouble at the end of episode 11, thats for sure. He broke my heart with that performance. Give him hugs now, show!

Or just let him feed Eun-sung ice cream already. Gah, he looked so forlorn holding that bowl with no one to give it to!

Also I read he said he is most nervous when he acts with Eun-sung because he doesn't know how ES acts/does not follow script? Yet when I see him with Eun-sung, I don't see he is awkward/nervous at all.

Yey for Lawyer Jo Deul Ho, Marriage Contract, Miss Temper and of course, DotS!! I am hoping though that CBA will see a rise in ratings for the finale week because 2.8% is just too low for a cast of that caliber. Also, with regards to ratings, I wonder how the DotS specials will do. I don't think specials from other dramas received high ratings? But I guess it wouldn't matter that much as this serves as a mere "thank you" to all the viewers who supported the show noh?

Will continue my Ms Temper and Marriage Contract marathon this weekend. Thanks to the suggestion and raves of the beanies here.

Its about time we stop blaming DOTS for the dismal ratings of other two dramas. If people wanted to watch it, it wouldn't get such low 2-4% ratings. As seen by Mon-Tues dramas, which are all doing balancing well.

I am also watching all 3 dramas from Wed-Thurs. Yeah, DOTS isn't exceptional, but neither are the other two. Its kinda sad some people take DOTS as a laughing stock, just to over-praise especially Come back mister.

Only thing good about that drama is Oh Yeon Seo-Honey Lee-Sungjae trio, and the ajhussi-bromance between OYS and Rain. The plot is dismal and overused.

I definitely think Descendants is having some effect on the ratings of the other two, but I also think it's justified. It's even more justified when it comes to Come Back, Mister; which is just an empty show. I've watched every episode, and I still think after each one, "why is nothing happening?"

If it weren't for the Oh Yeon Seo/Honey Lee/Lee Tae Hwan trio (and Choi Won Young, who I'd watch eat cereal), I would have given up on it completely.

Since when was the last time a JTBC drama rated 2%? I mean, My Beloved Eundong, Last and Falling for Innocence gained rave reviews from everyone despite their usual 1% rating. But if a JTBC drama rates more than 1%, that it must be damn good!

The setup was kind of over the top, but that's how revenge dramas tend to go, right? The second week (so, the episodes above) was the first appearance of the adults, so the story is really just starting.

Anyway, I like it! I'm sad that everyone is just pretending it doesn't exist around here, haha. It's revenge, with a side of comedy, randomly, but the cast is doing a good job and there appears to be plenty of story to last for 50 episodes. I hope it can keep up the pace and quality, because there are some interesting characters.

Ummm... There's a short discussion on the drama in the open thread and the general consensus (I know we're only 4 episodes in) is that it's terrible and you probably shouldn't waste your time on it.

Required fields are marked *

Despite the general consensus apparently reached in another thread(?) and some flaws, I've been really enjoying it. :) The first episode is heavy on the melo, the second is a mix, and the third & fourth have had more comedic elements. And I do find the current "training camp" situation pretty goofy, plot wise. With that said, I trust this team to know what they're doing and where the story is going, so I'm willing to suspend my disbelief for a few early episodes while they move all of the characters into position. All of the actors and actresses have been doing great jobs and I'm looking forward to learning more about what's driving some of these characters too.

Love "Five Children" the two leads are so good love seeing the relationship develop, and can not wait until the weekend comes for the next two installments. Each episode is fun, my Kim Sang Min is and adorable character with his self centered self, loved the actor in Oh My Venus, and he does comedy so well. Love "Vampire Detective" hate is only one episode a week. Will have to bow out of Monster reminds me too much of "Incarnation of Money which I have watched more than once. DOTS is just mindless fun with some cool action moments, romance is of second leads draws me n

Here to give my obligatory,
"Marriage Contract is an awesome melodrama! Its been a while since i am so emotionally invested in current airing drama. I watch it raw, i watch it subbed, i watch BTS clips, i stalked BTS pics, i ship the lead couples (heck with the age-gap!) - absolutely obsessed and not shame about it!"

And now, give those kleenex - i have to watch the subbed version of eps 11........... *sniff

It has surpassed 20% mark so is it really doing great ratings wise too?

Besides the actors and script, I believe marriage contract has amazing direction. I consider the scene with Hye Soo and her friend, the best scene in the entire episode. They did not say a word but the way it was picturised had so many feels. Good job by all cast and crew.

Yes, and there is so much scene in this drama that dont have any dialogue but yet feels so powerful touching because of their acting skill. Like when:
Their kiss in the beach, those make up removal, and when HS told her friend in ep 12, and when JH cry in when seeing Eunsung pict ...
Ah, so beautiful act

Suddenly, i realized theres a tooooooooooooon of dramas Id like to watch but im only watching Come back, Mister... Its being said before but besides from being against DOTS, I think the plot at times isnt using the great cast well, hence low ratings... There were eps. of them wasting their time doing pointless stuff I dont think anyone with only 2 months to help their families heal would do! But well, Ill fight my ocassional discomfort by staring at Chae Gook's pretty -but evil- face!

Check out Marriage Contract, you'll never regret. I watch it initially only for Seojinnie and ended up loving everyone *except for Chairman and his dysfunct family also the harpist that shall not be named lol*. Bring your kleenex people. This show manages to make me cry buckets every week. I rarely watch weekend drama because its long episodes (exception for My Daughter Soo-young), so MC's 16 episode looks great for me.
Hope the best for Hye-soo and Ji-hoon couple!!

My weekend booked by MC, wed-thur by DoTS and mon-tue by Monster. Looks like I have a busy weeks lol. Otherwise, what can I do without my drama supply!

Marriage Contract is so compelling, week after week, like a punch to the solar plexus. Tissues definitely needed. And I'm SO happy for UEE. Her performances in this drama are making her haters have to STFU. Nobody can ever say again with any veracity that she can't act, because with MC, she's proving she definitely can. IMO, a lot of what comes off as bad acting is actually the result of either a poorly written character, bad directing, or both.

You can tell that a couple people in the supporting storylines are about to make fun connections so I can see people are really On Board AND READY at this point.
