Drama viewership ratings for the week of Mar. 2-8, 2020

It’s the first week of March, and with a new month we get a new drama — the first of many. Replacing the hit drama Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 2, we had the premiere of Nobody Knows, actress Kim Seo-hyung’s first drama since SKY Castle. The thriller came in at 9.0 percent, a great place to start. Meanwhile, I’ll Find You on a Beautiful Day and The Cursed both saw a bit of an increase.

On Thursday, cable drama Money Game finished off its 16 episode run with 1.9 percent. Then on Saturday, family drama No Second Chances finished off its much longer 72 episode run with 12.7 percent. Fellow family drama Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life (which is even longer) will also be ending pretty soon. I’ve been seeing these two shows on the charts for so long now, it’ll take some time to get used to their absence.

I’ll be looking forward to getting those new weekend shows, seeing how they compare, as well as the other newbies. We’re gonna get hit with quite a lot — especially near the end of the month — so everyone get ready.

I hope I’ll Find You on a Beautiful Day will get viewers because it's a beautiful, warm, quiet and still exciting drama.

I hope with you. Sad that we'll have to wait for another week to see new eps

I hope so too. JTBC is not one of the Big Three in Korea so the potential audience is somewhat smaller.

JTBC, regardless of big three or cable, is still on the level with tvN. In fact, after Sky Castle hit, I would say JTBC is little bit above tvN due to the quality and rating in certain cases.

I just think the drama is not enough of pull for audiences to watch. Park Min Young's previous drama, Her Private Life, didn't do so well either. Avg 3.3 rating.

IC in JTBC is going strong. So it is not based on which cable channel, it is the quality of the drama & the genre that counts. The Beautiful Day plot is moving too slow and without any episode next week may break the momentum. Anyway PMY can never carry any drama, it will be the story which will attract viewers is my observation. I won’t compare with any of PMY dramas because those were not sold under her name.

That's what I just said.

It doesn't matter whether JTBC is cable or not, the drama is not pulling audience because the plot is tedious or overdone. Even if this drama is on SBS, it won't attract audience either way because Korean viewers are now more attracted to mystery/suspense type of genre.

Sky Castle started with 1.7% and there was no big actors.

I don't need big ratings, I don't care about it, just people should watch this drama because it's great.

It's clearly not an easy drama to watch and requires some attention from the viewer, it's why the ratings won't be very high.

It's not a mystery/suspens drama...

Really good shows eventually draw people in- just like Sky Castle did. I too hope that it happens with this show- because it is a show which deserves to be watched.

IMO the star status of lead actors does account for the ratings of at least the first couple of episodes. PMY's latest 2 dramas probably proved that she is still not a big enough name.
And IFYOABD doens't look like it'll go down the Sky Cascle route writing-wise.

PMY never had star status. All her dramas without a star power male lead have failed to get ratings. Q7D, HPL and now IFYOABD is going the same route. Not only are the ratings poor but it has zero impact on CPI or buzz charts just like HPL.

I think that fact that PMY's been cast in these dramas shows the networks do consider her a star, only she keeps underperforming. I'm a bit surprised at this as well cuz I thought she, although not seen as a great actress or anything, was at least well-liked by local audience.

Local audiences hate PMY ever since she admitted to getting plastic surgery.

Good news is that there was an increase in rating from 1 % opening week. So it got more people watching! i Since there is a break this week JTBC are doing rerun on ep 1-4. So maybe this gonna bring in even more audience. :) They are heavy promoting the rerun on social media.

FOREST is still outperforming the other shows in its time slot- although just barely. Yes- those other shows are actually worse.

Forest gets better ratings than I'll Find You...??? This is a Scandal and an Outrage. and a Travesty, too, just for good measure.
(and totally off-topic but this is my 11-year anniversary on Dramabeans. yay me!)

Can’t really compare Mon-Tues drama with Wed-Thurs. The Wed-Thurs slot usually has lower ratings, don’t know why though...

You are right about Wednesday-Thursday- it probably has something to do with the Korean workweek. But I totally agree that ratings for I’LL FIND YOU ON A BEAUTIFUL DAY are a travesty, a scandal and an outrage. There are also utterly ridiculous.

Technically it should be the other way around. Wed-Thurs is famously THE prime time slot while Mon-Tue has generally lower ratings. This was true until just last year during Camellia and Women of 9.9 Billion.

and it stays. Romantic Doctor got super high ratings on Mon-Tues slot. Why? I am very curious why it is not reversing back?

I think it's at least partly because KBS and MBC dropped their Mon/Tues shows. So there's less competition for the Mon/Tues dramawatchers.

There are no Mon-Tue slots except SBS but Wed-Thurs is still a full slot.

Love Hyena out of all this. Kim Hye Su slays that one for me. Her chemistry with Ji Hoon is so fun to watch! What a pairing!
