[Theme of the Month] Tell us about your year in dramas

It’s the annual return of the Theme of the Month! We’d like to say goodbye to 2021 by looking back at the year in dramas, specifically, your year in dramas. Share your reflections and perspectives, your K-drama highs and lows; share what moved you.

Tell us about your year in dramas and share what that has meant for you. Thinking beyond a straight list of dramas you loved or hated, what spoke to you?

To submit:

  • Email your submissions to hello@dramabeans.com. If you have a registered Dramabeans account, include your handle so we can link to it.
  • Include at least 1 image, though more are preferred.
  • Suggested length: Between 500 and 1,000 words.
  • Deadline: We will post these on a rolling basis, so we’re taking submissions starting now! We will cut off accepting submissions on December 24.

English is not your native language? I would not have known that as your comments are well written and insightful.

2021 has no Shin Sung Rok drama 🥲. The first year he has no drama since 2006 (minus 2 years in army).

Looking forward to a SSR drama or more in 2022! 😎

Would 1/2 year in Dramas do? I packed a frenzied lot into my nearly 6 delirious months.

Thinking about the theme I wanted to say: though I’ve watched dramas for about 8 years, I never watched them while they were airing until this year. And that meant that although I’ve read Dramabeans recaps for years, I never participated in the comments before. Beyond what the dramas themselves meant for me this year, being a part of the commentary while they were on air has been fun and meaningful. There are so many intelligent, thoughtful, knowledgeable fans on this site. It’s heightened my drama watching experience so much to experience them along with a community.
