What's up with Trolley. The weekend is tight and tough but they're raking in the numbers.
Three Bold Siblings is still shocking me.

Why does no one watch ENA dramas? I thought after Extraordinary Attorney, people would be at least a little bit more interested in what they have on offer. When ENA dramas have been good, they've been great, and when they've been bad, they've still crashed in interesting ways (and given us the gift of a side-couple who should have been the main couple). The Strangers Again first week was great, so I hope it stays great and picks up more viewers.

I am curious about the big jump in ratings for "Crash Course In Romance" because I was absolutely disappointed with Ep 4. Is it because the first 3 episodes were lovely or is it because people enjoy cat fight and misery? Smh

Maybe it's just because it's not competing with Payback on Saturday? Agency saw a similar jump on Sunday after all.

The aforementioned lack of competition with Payback certainly helped, as @miso2019 stated. As for the cat fights and misery question, just think back to how well makjangs perform in ratings and I think we get our answer lol. Although I do think positive word-of-mouth from previous episodes did help with the numbers.

Im so tired of revenge and cat fight and stressful educational system in SK plots why do these bring in so high ratings? Do they love these things that much? Yeah looking at how last shows with these plots performed I shouldn’t have asked these questions.

While I'm sick of those narratives, I'm still looking forward to watching Payback. It sounds like it's more of a thriller that just happens to be set in a stock market context for easy plotline delivery.

It’s so great to see a romcom actually getting the high ratings it deserves. Crash Course in Romance supremacy, we love to see it.

I hope Strangers Again gains some traction with audiences. I know ENA shows that aren’t EAW have struggled to get eyeballs, but this one is shaping up to be a surprising thoughtful romp.

Maybe I should check out Agency and Payback?

Happy for CCiR as well! Not a big fan of some subplots there, but so love the idea of having veteran actors who aren’t all young and pretty lead the show! May this trend continue throughout the year!!!!!!!

Seriously, right there with you! I'm all for young beautiful people, but some of us younger ajummas appreciate older cast members considered "past their prime" in age-ist societies. Contrary to this trend, life does not end at 40!

The older ones still bring in the ratings...with Crash Course in Romance, Agency and Payback.

I am surprised that THREE BOLD SIBLINGS is not doing better. It appears that some of the audience simply tuned out after the missteps of the first nine episodes and never came back.

I am not as surprised that TROLLEY is doing so well, despite the competition.

I am surprised that STRANGERS AGAIN is not doing better. It has flaws but it is still a decent romcom. I wonder if it is a reaction to the adultery themes in the first two episodes.

On the other hand, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the good numbers for CRASH COURSE IN ROMANCE.

I am not surprised with the good numbers achieved by Crash Course in Romance, as it has a combo of a good director * (who previously directed Hometown ChaChaCha), a good cast (especially the veteran ones), a romantic comedy that touches on a mature couple rather than twenty-something couples (that's a fresh breath of air), relevant themes that Koreans can relate to (from single parenthood, success versus loneliness to academic pressure) and a good murder mystery.

I read this morning:

Regarding this, pop culture critic Deok-hyun Jeong told Sports Seoul on February 25th, “To increase the ratings of weekend dramas, you can present a drama with a lot of clichés. 'Three siblings are brave' was a very kind drama when it first started. However, in the latter half of the film, many clichés are used, such as the secret of birth, marriage difficulties due to age differences, and the appearance of villain characters. The relationships between the characters became very complicated, and the color of the original story was blurred. It looks like he was under pressure because the viewership ratings weren’t high.

“There is no adult story in 'Three Brothers and Sisters Bravely'. So far, weekend dramas have covered a wide range of people from the young to the old. However, this drama is not interesting because it focuses on the love story centered on three siblings and does not reveal the personal stories of the people around it. This is also one of the reasons for the low ratings.”

The story also states that in recent episodes, the real time ratings have fallen to 10 percent in parts of the episodes, meaning people are changing channels during certain episode story segments.

The midweek numbers are so sad.

For a rom-com-ish drama, I'm glad Crash Course in Romance is doing well though!

Crash Course in Romance is doing well in terms of ratings, because it has a competent director, who was behind Hometown ChaChaCha, a good cast (who needs idols and twenty something actors all the time in romcoms?) , a romcom that is not only focus on romance, as it deals with issues that are relevant like academic pressure in Korea. Having a romcom that focuses on the romance alone cannot help the ratings alone these days.

That makes sense! Perhaps that’s why I thought I really liked the cinematography here. So it all made sense when he said the director is the one who made HomeCha. I loved the cinematography and how that show was directed also. The writer of Weightlifting and the director of HomeCha, what a great power combo.
