Revving up the hunt for demons in The Uncanny Counter 2

Displaying a whirl of hard kicks and punches, a new teaser has landed for tvN’s upcoming action-fantasy sequel, The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch.

Zipped up in their trusty tracksuits and curly ‘dos, Jo Byung-kyu (Stove League), Yoo Joon-sang (Alchemy of Souls), Kim Se-jung (Today’s Webtoon), and Yeom Hye-ran (The Glory) are back as our super-powered heroes and we see in the latest teaser that they’ve been training super hard.

From the start, So Moon (Jo Byung-kyu) offers his thanks, expressing excitement for this second opportunity to meet. But he’s also determined to win without fail and Moon informs the others that, “If we want to catch them, we need to be even faster and stronger than we are now.”

To their advantage, the group has also grown in number to include newbie Yoo In-soo (The Good Bad Mother). Although our country boy Na Jeok-bong (Yoo In-soo) is a little confused at first, he’s soon fighting the good fight as well and curling his locks in team solidarity.

While Ga Mo-tak (Yoo Joon-sang) rallies them together, declaring that they’ll take all the demons down, the intermittent text screens threaten their foe directly, reading, “To my dearest demons, are you ready to be summoned?” In the sequence, we catch a glimpse of the team’s leader Ahn Seok-hwan (Love in Contract) and the teaser then closes as So Moon goes fist-to-fist with our big bad Kang Ki-young (Extraordinary Attorney Woo).

Production for tvN’s The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch continues under PD Yoo Sun-dong (Vampire Prosecutor 2) and writer Kim Sae-bom. The new second season will be premiering next month on July 29, airing weekends following See You in My 19th Life.

Netflix had a promo for it on their instagram a little while back, and that's where the first season lives, so that's my guess. It's always possible it won't be available in the US even though it is elsewhere, but I have yet to find out about a drama that they release week-by-week that isn't. I think our chances are good.

I'm not saying I'll be cheating with you, but I'll be your alibi if you need one and I'll be bringing a bag of popcorn to share.

Why do I feel there's a little bit of meta in Jo Byung Kyu's words? Like he's thankful to be able to make a comeback.

Oh Yoo In Soo's curly hair! I thought it would look better after the transformation, guess I was wrong! Is awful hair his personal brand marketing positioning? His commitment, though 👏

Forever proving that bad hair day is the new glam.

My poor baby In-soo.

He suffered through over a year of constant bleaching for AoS Part 1.

After that, he was filming not just back-to-back but back-and-forth among several dramas/film during the last 9 months, so he couldn't grow his hair out for UC2.

His hair will be normal in "Morning in Psychiatric Ward" and the movie "You Did Great".

The price one must pay for being an in-demand actor. 😊😊😊

yes, yes, YES!
Kang Ki-young as a baddie? How exciting! I've been really cheering for him since Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The poor guy has been cast in the same kind of ridiculous, low-brow but high ego buffoons for too long and it's finally time we get to explore his full range as a serious actor.

Also after the insult that the Good Bad Mother was to everybody in the cast (and the forever respawnable pigs, and everyone who like me suffered through this insufferable tale of nonsensical motherly torture) I'm relieved Yoo In-soo may put his wig to a better purpose. Diss that blunt cut bob, curly wig is obviously the way to go, man.

Even tho In-soo is my favorite kdrama actor of all, I bailed out of most of Bad Mom.

i'm also looking forward to watching Kang Ki-young iin a different role, although I will probably miss most of his scenes since he is evil incarnate/violent. 😢
