Lee Soo-hyuk and Lee Da-hee see red in fantasy-thriller S Line

A new fantasy-thriller called S Line is on the horizon for 2024 and the main lineup has been announced, with Lee Soo-hyuk (Tomorrow), praise be, in the starring role alongside Lee Da-hee (Island).
The softy that I am wished for a rom-com, but it will be a treat to see both Lees tackle the tangled world of S Line. With the former playing our free-spirited and truth-seeking police detective Han Ji-wook, the latter presumably will be joining his investigations as the quirky high school teacher Kyu Jin.
The problem at hand, though, is akin to a widespread pandemic with a significant impact on social culture. On one sudden day, the world woke up to find the sun overtaken by a massive obstruction in the sky, creating a dense weave of criss-crossed red lines. Even stranger is that the ends of these long lines are rooted out of people’s heads, literally connecting them to every person they’ve had sexual relations with. The story then follows our characters in the panic and chaos that ensues.
Also in a main role, Arin (Alchemy of Souls 2) takes on the part of high school student Hyun Heub. But curiously, she is someone who has been able to see the red lines since birth. Although it isn’t stated, I’d be surprised if this didn’t affect her personal relationships with others, and it’ll be interesting to see how her love line will play out with fellow classmate Lee Kwang-hee (Love Class 2) having a crush on her.
Based on the popular webtoon by the acclaimed Ggomabi, the cartoonist is also well known for Murder DIEary, which is being adapted into a drama on Netflix and is expected to release in 2024 as well.
For S Line, the plan is to complete post-production by the end of this year, with both writing and directing helmed by Ahn Joo-young.

I am content with the main pairing, but what an appalling premise. What is the point in knowing everyone’s number of partners ? Will it be a morality tale advocating for a more prude society ? It looks like an horror scenario to me: how to have everyone even more focused on sex and the first time. Imagine you have an intercourse (first time or new person) and immediately all your entourage know. Because unless you already have more than a dozen red lines everyone is taking count. I wonder if is it possible to arrange the lines to have a pretty design or do they all start from the apex of the head ? Even worse idea: the starting point of the line indicates the level of affection… Suddenly the idea of an app bipping to indicate a love interest looks unintrusive.
Has someone read the webtoon?

Yes, sounds like a trainwreck, but if they can have an actually good kdrama about touching people's butts then maybe they can pull this off too.
And I've been known to complain about too many kdramas just trying to out-do each other by piling on more and more of the same kinds of twists, so when they actually try something different I should give them the benefit of the doubt instead of running away screaming.

Maybe this means this drama will also be on Netflix. I can't imagine this type of story in any other television than in a non-public one. I would like the drama, since it has teenage characters, to take the issue of underage sex in South Korea more seriously. In many dramas this is omitted or vulgarized in the comments of some class bullies. Sometimes there are teenage pregnancies, but again this is romanticized.

I also worry about the potential for massive shaming and discrimination, especially for women and girls, but also for men who've had no sexual partners in a culture that finds that pathetic past a certain age. I know nothing about the webtoon and prefer not to be spoiled. At the same time, I kind of want a tiny bit of assurance that it directly takes on this issue in interesting and thoughtful ways and not just as a chaos agent or an excuse for slut-shaming.

As someone whose mood is affected by cloudy days, the idea of the sun blocked by red anything freaks me out! Then I wonder, how can everyone move around without their red strings getting all tangled up? How do the strings go through buildings and around forests? So I’m more preoccupied with the literal physical challenges at this point.
Please don’t spoil me, either! I can wait to find out!

Ok, take a wacky drama idea and attach the famous writer to it (not familiar with him) and Two awesome leads and I vote for a good ride! I have to tune in just to see how the red lines will be handled. (like @bbstl stated about the actual physicality) AND, Lee soo-hyuk!!!

finally, finally, FINALLY, one of my most favorite actors is getting his (long overdue) main lead role !!!!!!! 😍🥳 i saw this news on twitter first and almost dropped my phone in the ensuing happy flail, hehe. GROUP HUG FOR EVERYONE WHO'S BEEN WAITING YEARS FOR THIS !!
