[Cast Away] Help, my neighbor is a ghost-hunter!

Don’t you just hate it when you’re short a few million dollars to produce a drama with your dream team of actors, writers, and directors? *pouts* Well, we found a way to scratch that itch!

Introducing the new Dramabeans community series Cast Away — where Beanies can advocate for their chosen actors and creatives in imaginary roles.

How it works: Each week, we’ll share a hypothetical K-drama plot with you. In the comments, discuss who you think is the perfect cast to play the roles in this imaginary show.

You can also go wild and introduce more characters, rename the show, pick your favorite director, etc. Who knows? Maybe our collective wishing will manifest fantasy casting into reality.

Let’s get into the Halloween spirit with “Help, my neighbor is a ghost-hunter!”

The Park family boasts a lineage of supernatural beings, including a werewolf father, a gumiho mother, a psychic teenager, and a misanthropic zombie sibling. They have successfully hidden themselves in plain sight while outlasting multiple civilizations. However, when they move to a new neighborhood in Seoul, they inadvertently attract the attention of a ghost-hunting vlogger, leading to a string of uproarious misadventures as one side digs and the other scrambles to cover up the truth.

Why choose one supernatural being when you can have them all? Who do you think should play the “terrifying” Park family members, and the even more terrifying nosy neighbor who will stop at nothing for a like, favorite, share, and subscription to their struggling video channel?

Feel free to request a plot line for future Cast Away posts. We’ll do our best (beep-boop!) to serve a fun twist on it.

If Shin Sung-rok isn't the werewolf dad, nothing else matters.

I could see Kim So-hyun dressed as Wednesday Addams as the slightly-older-than-teenaged psychic daughter.

I second these ideas, having seen Kim So-hun's Wednesday Addams get up in MLL too. But, as for ghost-hunting vlogger, let's not go with the way DWY did it (too deadly), but instead adopt Lee Sang-yi's "Mr. Popular" from CCiR for our needs.

This clip of his tag line never gets old for me. Sorry, not sorry: https://imgur.com/lNhXSUx

Yes, but in this drama, the zombie is supposed to be a child or teenager. Maybe you could switch things around so the dad is a zombie and the sibling is a werewolf? I’m totally on board with having more Zombie CJH!

Maybe the zombie could be the sibling of one of the parents - that way CJH could be Uncle Zombie. Anyway I think it's a bit cruel to make a kid a zombie.

I think a zombie kid could be pretty cute! But a werewolf kid would work too…

Love the dedication to squeezing in a Choi Jin-hyuk zombie into the story XD

I’d love to squeeze Choi Jin-Hyuk in a lot of other places, too… 🤌🏼🍑 😁

A werewolf father - Shin Sung-rok
A gumiho mother - Kang Kyung-heon
Teenager psychic - Kim Kang-hoon
The misanthrope zombie sibling - I'm torn between Kim Nam-hee and Jo Seung-woo.
Ghost hunting vlogger - Lee Dong-wook. In an interesting plot twist, our vlogger is not only a zombie but also a half sibling to our gumiho mom.

The only ones I'd change are Choi Jin Hyuk for zombie and Shin Mina for gumiho mom!

You couldn't have put together a more lovable, chaotic, bumbling pair of ghost-hunters if you tried!

I was going to cast Lee Dong Hwi as the uncle. But then I thought of how awesome it would be to have him in a chaotic duo with Kang Ki Young oppa and I changed it. Hahaha.

Here's my version:

Zo In Sung as the werewoft father
Han Hyo Joo as the gumiho mother
Ko Yoon Jung as the psychic teenager
Lee Jeong Ha as the misanthropic sibling

and Cha Tae Hyun as the ghost hunting Vlogger.

Werewolf dad and gumiho mom with a zombie kid.. thats crazy. This will be a comedy then. I am thinking of Yoo Na (the Kidnapping Day) as the psychic daughter. That leaves the vlogger with a loveline with the zombie sibling??

Jo Yi Hyun as the zombie sibling and Nam Da Reum as the vlogger because I miss him.

had not read this one but I have a question of genetics like shouldnt the child of a werewolf and gumiho be a mix of those like a gumiho in full moon with shorter tails... of course you can turn zombie later but can a gumiho turn into a zombie.
in our folklore werewolf is not a full moon thing it is more like applied power a la Ironman the skin is a suit you wear when you feel like life sucks. and it has nothing to do with other people but they do sometimes kill some cattle. so there would not be a werewolf gene. werefox however is more of a genetic thing, it is actual shapeshifting without any "tools" however sometimes only a very successful and clever pretending - wearing human clothes and acting as human so well people dont notice your tail. you could say, hypnosis. and it is a skill not genetics. why do the parents have a zombie child? very bad parents. and with a psychic sibling who didnt see it coming?
unplausable.

so it very much sounds like I would get some well seasoned makjang actors, give them no script and have them improvise their parts.
