Esom and Ahn Jae-hong become blackmailing spies in LTNS

A fun first teaser and poster have dropped for TVING’s new comedy LTNS (a.k.a. Long Time No Sex), where we’re introduced to our not quite happily married pair, Esom (Black Knight) and Ahn Jae-hong (Mask Girl).

Opening with a quick backstory, we see and read in the trailer that Woo-jin (Esom) and Samuel (Ahn Jae-hong) once had a passionate romance. But as the music cuts, reality sinks in and we learn that that fire has since died in their five-year marriage. Although Woo-jin tries to set the mood after her shower, Samuel doesn’t even bother to look and merely commends her for being hygienic.

Woo-jin wonders, “Are couples like us called sexless?” and her friend asks point blank, “How long has it been since you’ve not done it?” Our heroine brushes it off, though, saying that it’s just life and we take care of things ourselves. Special appearance by rubber duck. But that’s not the only stress in their married life and the captions tell us that our leads have no children and no money as well.

Although the two bought their place when the area was on the rise, their home is now depreciating on the market and they’re on the brink of financial ruin. In the text screens we read that this is when a sliver of hope appears, and our sexless couple begin a special business.

Deciding, “Let’s not live like this anymore,” Woo-jin and Samuel put on their best spy clothes and use their day jobs to their nefarious advantage. With the former working the front desk at a hotel and the latter a taxi driver, the two start snooping and gathering clues for the ultimate blacklist of cheating couples.

The teaser then closes as Woo-jin goes on about how people with two phones are suspicious. But Samuel isn’t following her point and argues, “What about delivery couriers?” Annoyed Woo-jin storms off, while Samuel belatedly realizes his mistake.

Production for the series has been led by filmmakers Im Dae-hyung (Moonlit Winter) and Jeon Go-woon (Persona), collaborating on both writing and directing. Notably, Jeon worked with our two leads previously on Microhabitat. But Esom and Ahn Jae-hong more recently acted together on High Surf Expected – Ahn’s own short film.

After a preliminary screening at the Busan International Film Festival this past October, TVING’s LTNS will be releasing to a wider audience on January 19.

Well, I love these two actors, and I think they're absolutely perfectly cast here. Esom found her way into my heart in BTLIOF...her and her "no bra" ways. And I can only speak for myself when I say that I have never had such strongly ambivalent feelings towards an ML as I did for Ahn Jae-hong in Be Melo. He was such an asshole, but then he wasn't...but he still was?...arrrgh...and I couldn't help but rooting for him after a while. I was a total convert--I think he's an amazing actor, especially good at playing men who actually see their own damage and are (somewhat) trying to confront it.

I mean I think we know how this drama is gonna end--the question for me is, will the blackmail caper be really, REALLY dark?? Or will it have sufficient silliness to cut through a biting presentation of the bleak reality of life in today's Korea?

Oh fun! Esom is perfect for this role! Not sure how it'll all come down but I will be watching it to find out. Sounds like it will be fun!

You had me at, “Esom”.

The last I saw her was in Because This Is My First Life and I was impressed. I haven’t seen any of her subsequent projects though. The premise of the series sounds interesting because sexless marriage is a lot more common than people admit and I’m curious to explore this topic more in depth.

It is more and more fun. I'm finding it difficult to be "cautiously optimistic". **screams loudly while waving both hands** Yaaaaahh!!

I wonder if it'll push the envelope and be very adult, like Hit the Spot/Fanta G Spot.

From the images it doesn't look as saturated and polished as other kdramas, which I think is perfect. Polish is nice, but sometimes it's a welcome change to have kdramas that look like Call It Love or Moving. I don't know if I'm making sense, but yeah 😅
